Hello Mr. Steiner, I just want to say that I’m a HUGE fan of your playing. I love the emotion that you put into the horn and the way it comes out. It’s truly beautiful and I aspire to be at least close to the level of musicianship and playing you’re on. Thank you for all the music and inspiration. Cheers

Beautiful playing, Peter!! One of the most enjoyable performances of this piece I’ve ever heard, and especially enjoyed your interpretation and character of the third movement!
Это и правда очень красивое исполнение , генеальное) Да благословит вас Господь, который вложил в вас дар понимать музыку и способность к игре на тромбоне))))
I will never forget playing for you at U Del Trombone Day this year. Completely changed my mindset as a performer. Wonderful playing, you are a huge inspiration!
@@PeterSteinerOfficial this was completely a compliment I really just didn’t know any other way to word it 😭 I love your playing, this performance was amazing. I plan on playing the first 2 movements for my solo contest, you’re my inspiration 💯
Amazing job peter! I just started working on this piece myself and this is the recording I always come back to! It's the third I'm solo I'm learning after the David, and I was wondering what parts in particular of this piece gave you trouble and how you overcame them?
This is one of my very favorite trombone concerti. I have several wonderful recordings, the earliest being the one by Christian Lindberg. But this live performance made the hair on the back of my neck stand up with shivers up and down my spine at every harmonic high point (and there are so many in this piece). And the tone quality!!! Now that I have retired as a full time research chemist, I will be spending more time playing. I will never reach your level of incredible virtuosity and musicianship, Mr. Steiner. But you have given me a new joyful target to aim at. I have purchased your most recent CD and will be getting the others very soon. I hope to hear you live some day. Thanks above for making everything else secondary to the music!
Thank you very much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. This is simply one of my all time favorite works to perform 😀 I hope you will enjoy the CD and hope our paths cross soon!
Excellent playing as always! I really noticed you did a great job of getting a lot of sound out of faster notes that tend to get pecky when most trombone players play the Grondahl.
About how long per day did you spend preparing for the Tchaikovsky? All of your performances were stunning, and I’d love to know what it took to get the repertoire to that level!
Thank you very much for your comment and interest! The preparation for the competition was about 3 months long. That's the normal time frame I allow myself to prepare for any sort of event. Hope that helps! Thanks for following.
I was introduced to Mr. Steiner while I was practicing the first movement of the Bourgeois for the brass department concerto competition and was blown away by his amazing sound and impressive musicianship skills. This semester I had to choose a piece from my instrument's standard repertory and listen to it every week for a Music History project due by the end of the semester. Naturally, I chose the Grondahl and the first performer on RUclips was... Peter Steiner! Thanks for producing such a high quality performance of an amazing piece of music! Can't wait to take a crack at this one before I graduate! The only problem is... you have put me in a predicament! Which concerto is my favorite? Bourgeois or Grondahl?!
Thank you very much for your comment and kind words, I really appreciate it! They are both great pieces of music! In my opinion there is no need to decide which is your favorite, just love them both 😀
Firstly, incredible performance, especially the second movement! 👏 Secondly, at 10:09 as the camera zoomed in to your trombone, I saw a droplet at the bottom of the bell. Did it get there all the way from the slide? 😮
as another trombone player, and not nearly one of Peter's caliber, I can say after a long session I do often get condensate dripping out of the bell of the horn. Us horn players are just full of spit lol.
Mr. Steiner, I’m currently preparing this for an all state audition and would like to ask what kind of style would you say is best for this solo? I can’t stop listening to this recording though.
What do you mean by “style”? I would simply listen to all trombone records of it that you can get your hands on, get inspired, try it out yourself and play it the prettiest possible way 😀
Is your trombone a bit smaller than the average .547 bore horn, or are you just massively tall? This is gorgeous, you play it so effortlessly, a huge testament to your ability.
@@PeterSteinerOfficial It is a great honor, to see that you've replied to my comment. You have such a great tone, and you play with so much integrity, dexterity, snd maturity.
