The best David so far! Every single phrase is beautiful, very musical and alternative positions are on perfect spots. What an amazing interpretation! I believe that Ferdinand David is very pleased in heaven. Bravissimo!
Probably the best interpretation of David recorded yet. Don't get me wrong, I love Lindberg's and Alessi's version, but this one is the most musical, humble and precise one. The second movement really makes you move emotionally, even if you listened to this piece hundreds of times. I hope I'll play David as good when I'll be a professional!
Alessi plays a lot of wrong rhythms and kind of disregards the style of the piece. Now, it sounds great because it’s Alessi. But… this performance is far more stylistically accurate and beautifully played.
Better than every recording on Spotify, so I uploaded it to my local files to listen to in the car with no ads. Currently working on this piece for a potential performance in the beginning of 2024, I love being able to see the many different interpretations of this masterful piece, but this interpretation is by far my favorite. While being a monster-fully technical piece, this recording doesn’t make it sound like positions on a paper, it makes it sound like MUSIC. That is what I hope to achieve in the future. Thank you Michael for all of the inspiration you have given me, as well as everyone else in this comment section and the trombone world. We all hope to catch up to you one day! ❤
@@dakotacompaan6292 It went very well! I got accepted into the music program I wanted the most!! I have another memorized performance of this tomorrow for a chance at some cash and a permanent spot in a city orchestra! Im looking forward to it for sure! Im a lot less nervous about my performance tomorrow knowing that audition season is FINALLY coming to an end. Thanks for asking!!
After this concert was deleted from RUclips for some reason, I told myself that it was one of the best performances with the best dynamics and best interpretation in solo and orchestra deleted from RUclips but today I am happy to listen to this concert again.
I was extremely impressed by how spot on the alternate positions were. Each phrase is shaped beautifully. Probably the best performance of this piece I have heard.
A fantastic performce in every way. So musical, perfect in style, a great soloist and a great orchestra serving the music, no showing off or ego stuff getting in the way. Also great production (video and sound). This is the David I have been waiting for. The best version I've ever heard, and this includes all the studio recordings of the big names of the trombone. It's seriously some of best trombone playing I've ever heard. Beautiful sound, perfect legato, wonderful control, great dynamic range and spectrum of colours. But it is not only great trombone playing, it is great music making by a great artist. For the first time I get the feeling this is really a first rate piece of music. Bravo Mr. Buchanan! In German this is called a Sternstunde!

Epic tone and fantastic control, bravo young man. That middle movement is just bliss. A lovely dance with the orchestra and though out fantastic dynamics.
Most musical interpretation I have ever heard. Orchestra and conductor are fantastic. Trombone player is excellent, real musician, but locking in bigger sound . I never enjoy it so much by listening to such a marvelous interpretation of Ferdinand. Bravo to all of you and big thanks.
Interesting observation. I always thought it was a bit close. Technically, this concerto is one of the most difficult for trombone among the traditional pieces. Well observed.
Very few performances of this make it sound like a real piece of music. Both the soloist and orchestra make the most out of what can be a slog to listen to.
I used to be first chair trombone in high school I should’ve continued it in college and beyond. I love it ❤
It’s never too late to pick it up again ❤
This is a musician holding a trombone, bravo!
The best David so far! Every single phrase is beautiful, very musical and alternative positions are on perfect spots. What an amazing interpretation!
I believe that Ferdinand David is very pleased in heaven. Bravissimo!
I completely agree with you Ohtae
Have you heard Joe Alessi play it
@@Rabot7913 I also like this recording better because the phrases are better played and the interpretation is more musical.
Ron Prussing played this really well. This performance is good, but l wanted more from it.
i do really like this performance, but i think it’s really hard to rank performances, it’s very subjective
This marvelous rendition reminds us trombone players that the David is an actual piece of music.

Hows that going?
The finest and best recording of this I have ever heard, and better IMHO than even Joseph Alessi's,. Seriously.
Orchestra’s certainly superior in this one

Better than every recording period.
After hearing this, I'm proud to be a trombone player! This is what the instrument can sound like. Brilliant!
I agree with you, I also play the trombone

Don’t ever stop, keep pushing through. The world needs more talented people like you. Thanks for sharing your beautiful gift.

Don't get to that level without knowing your alternates. ;)

A trombonist who plays like a real musician. This is how it’s done.
My favorite interpreation for this Concertino. I always listen to this video.
Mine to now.

Never enjoyed listening to a brass player that much. This guy is truly living and breathing music
I can't stop hearing this performance. Absolutly brilliant❤.
I appreciate that the conductor and orchestra members took this piece seriously...
Buchanan is such a “CHAD” in every sense of the term. I aspire to have his tone and lyricism!
Agree with those that say this is superb, it's one of the best interepretations I've heard, stunning performance in every way. Bravo!

Amazing performance!!! Great great great the Best DAVID !
0:57 didn't know Marty McFly came back from the future to play oboe so damn good!
Was symphonic myself.. to have that much sound control in an auditorium and not drowning out the rest of the band is amazing.
Great performance!!! Makes me proud as a trombone player!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
6:31 when you remember you left your oven on
😂😂 Gott
LOL good one he definitely remember it in that instant xD
I know I'm commenting on a three year old comment. But you need to know it remains comedic gold.
Amazing performance ,This Young man is something else.
Wow. This gives me new appreciation for the trombone. What a wonderful sound.
Michael will be the G.o.a.t. trombone player, trust me! Thank you for your music Michael!
Very impressive and musically very satisfying. Thank you for this wonderful performance and for posting this here.
Absolutely beautiful performance Mike, the best I've heard.
Mon interprétation favorite ; ce tromboniste s’approprie véritablement ce morceau. C’est une pièce délicieuse !
Ein großartiger Posaunist und Interpret dieses Stückes . Hervorragende Technik, Dynamik und bester Ton ! Klasse auch das Orchester!😊❤
Perfect performance.........tone quality is absolutely beautiful!
Enhorabuena Michael.
Best wishes from Spain
One of the most brilliant performances I've heard. Great job!
Sehr schön! Eine der besten Interpretationen!
One of my favourite recordings of this piece. Simply magnificient, congratulations👏👏

The best interpretation!
wonderful sound and interpretation! fantastic!
Been looking for this recording!!
This is the Trombone Concerto that Mendelssohn never wrote.
Honestly, I’m not disappointed!
Interesting observation. I always thought it was a bit close. Technically, this concerto is one of the most difficult for trombone among the traditional pieces. Well observed.

Great job
EXTRAORDINARY !
Excelente!!
Rapaz, que coisa espetacular!
Phenomenal!
Bravi!!!!
Anyone else notice how similar this piece’s Funeral March is to the Eroica Funeral March?
He's an alternate-position-machine!
He's incredible at it. Usually alternates are pressed on jazz players more than classical but he really plays them effortlessly.
True, but I'm a little surprised he didn't on B-natural to D at the beginning of the second movement. His legato tongue was perfect regardless lol
Fantastic
Fantastic🎉
Bravo!!!❤
