Really impressed with the quality consistent uploads. Keep up the excellent work Alex! I'd like to see a RES care vid!
cole kaetzel true!!
Thank you! I don't think I've done any res videos yet, I need to plan some :)
It'd be way cool man. Just keep doing what your doing lol. BTW, Zeke (Ezekiel) my ball python really enjoys watching your videos with me!
GoHerping u we're driving In one of your videos how could u drive but your not age 16 yet or is that a different type of vehicle
Yeah I'm not 16
im 17
your channel is so informative!! i am really interested in getting a ball python and i was clueless on how to take care of one. all the other videos i watched didnt go in depth or show you what they were talking about but you always do!! its so helpful i cant thank you enough now i feel like i can give my future snake the best care i can provide. lit.
I am getting a reptile very soon and i find your information really helpful! :)
You're awesome dude. Great testing...I've noticed in time the anolog humidity gauges lose accuracy because the coil inside begins to rust. Digital seems to be the best route to go. Love your channel man, you help me a lot!
Alex-the one that you recommend is no longer being sold. I really need to find one of these. Could you send me a link with one similar that you trust?
From all reptiles keeper you do a great job you put on test your equipment and show us which it’s best
Great videos man!!! Such good quality vids and a lot of uploads it looks like you are in high school or college so its amazing how you can put out great vids with a busy life
Thank you!
Hi I'm a new subscriber! I've been brings watching all of your videos and I think your channels amazing! Keep up the great work and thank you for spreading all of your knowledge!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting your videos. I really like all of your reptiles. And i also just had one request, can you due a new reptile room tour including your lesser mojave (or what ever morph it is) . I just really want you to include it in your reptile room. Thanks Alex, keep up the good work. And i almost forgot, i also live in North Carolina Chapel Hll.
the very top one at 0:10 actually managed to tear skin from my poor baby ball pythons tail completely off, and now i have to take extra care of him removing his substrate and changing it to paper towel, spraying the area with neosporin and Pathenol on the area right after the neosporin dries. NEVER put tape in the enclosure where your animal lives or you risk the chance of them ripping off skin or even dying. i’m lucky Kaa is still in- well, one piece and some scales next to him but i hope he will be fine.
Something to keep in mind about these temp guns - they don't measure air temperature, they measure surface temperature. This isn't necessarily good or bad because you need to keep both in mind when raising reptiles, but very important to keep in mind.
Comes in handy when u want to measure a heating Matt or your reptile
you explain so well ty
I use the same pawliss digital reader and mine goes up to 99% with humidity. I've never see it do that blank out thing weird how yours did?
Does the temp gauge (the one that changes color based on the temperature) work?
That temp gun comes in handy for all kinds of things... like cooking, laptop / desktop temps, tormenting the cat with the laser, etc... and the 9v battery lasts forever. Well worth the purchase.
As for humidity readouts, I'll be a first time buyer for that so I'll go with GoHerping's suggestion and get a digital one as it does seem like the logical choice.
Wow that's pretty surprising. Great video topics!! Keep it up.
Thanks!
Didn't know I wanted this video until you posted it! Super good guide, sometimes it can be hard to choose one. Maybe one on thermostats next? I'm struggling to find one I like.
Thank you! I've only used one actually: amzn.to/2qX2jGh but I might dedicate a video to them since they're so useful.
Alex i have a question .-. will you be at the repticon in Raleigh? on the 1 and 2 of july? o.O just wondering XD
hi Go herping awesome video for the gage that goes the weird lines from 90 I have that one and it goes all the way to 100% that's so weird. Would you ever consider getting a crested gecko?
Hi Alex, where would you say is the best place to put your Temperature/Humidity sensors in your tank?
How do you not have millions of subscriber? You are totally awesome Alex. You have the best content.
haha thank you!
awesome, good idea to measure their accuracy! I'll always stick to digital, it's obviously more accurate :)
thanks! They're also more convenient
Thank you!!
How do you calibrate a temperature/hygrometer zoomed because my hydrometer is staying low but the double the humidity is high
I bought one from Pet Smart and noticed when I got home the temp was 55 degrees and the humidity is upper 70. Since our house is 72 degrees and humidity is around 35 or 40% this unit is junk. Then I found a video on how to calibrate it. Nice right out of the box I have to calibrate my thermometer and hydro. I don't remember having to have to do that on any other thermometer I have ever bought before. I don't know how I can trust the gauge in anything but a novelty.
Hey Alex where would you suggest putting a digital hydrometer in a pacman frog tank.
To-(Go herping) I love this channel.and It is by far the best, please keep making videos as I love watching them every day and learn more and more.
U inspired me to get a ball python but my patents said no so please tell me what u think would make a good pet. And if I said everything I love about this channel u would be reading this for 2 hours. And please make more videos about ball pythons THANK YOU
There's actually a really easy way to test the accuracy of your hygrometer (humidity gauge).
m.wikihow.com/Test-a-Hygrometer
So even if your hygrometer says 65% when it's supposed to 75% from the test, you can still accurately measure the humidity by adding 10% or however off it is.
Oh that's cool!
How do you change c to f on the pawless temp gauge
Could you do a care video for a Honduran milk snake please there isn't many good care videos for them?
This perfectly demonstrates how important a temp gun is for reptile keeping. They're the best way to measure what your true basking temperatures are, you want to know what the surface temperature is of the basking site as that's what the reptile is really experiencing. Monitors will bask, safely, and even preferentially, at 150 degrees (as well as other specialized sun-worshiping lizards like uromastyx). ;-)
the temp fluctuation of the lazer temp could be due to the surface being white and the bezel of the others being black, (heat absorbsion)
what's the best humidity gauge, I can't seem to find a great one that's accurate. my vision rack comes in for my 3 ball pythons in a week and I have a herpstat 2 coming in as well, I know it has a humidity gauge built in as long as you use the probe. But I have 3 snake tubs and want to make sure they're all at the right levels because there's only one probe and no misting system. PLEASE HELP
Where do you place the probe
amazing video buddy 😁😁
thanks!
np buddy :) you deserve it :) BTW , have you seen the coment on your ball python feeding video?
Please do a how to treat scale rot video
great video!
Thanks :)
I want to see the updated version of the ball python care guide. I am planning to get one. @goherping
Question. Do you have a favorite type of lizard?
Such harrddd questionssss. Probably some species of water monitor, I was always super interested in them whenever they appeared in Crocodile Hunter documentaries
Can you show a video about how to switch snakes from love to thaw
I'm going to subscribe to this guy
:D
Christhewolfie Gamer same here!
U better
I have the exact same digital humidity gauge and it goes all the way to 99.
I heard the thermoworks thermo gun is really good
The gauge you recommended is listed as currently unavailable on Amazon. Is there another similar one that's good?
I heard zoo med gauges are really good
So which one do I get?
I think you should talk about are diseases that reptiles can get and how to prevent them! That seems very important!
I'll be getting my first snake soon (I own a couple other reptiles, so I'm not new to it) and I was debating rather to get a Kenyan sand boa or a ball python. I'm leaning towards the sand boa, but I'm not sure. Any pointers would be great :D
Sand boas hide a lot. Just one thing of many to consider.
@@gonecrazynback I think your a bit late, like a couple years too late
@@Nate-bu3pm thanks for your continued useless input.
@@gonecrazynback your welcome :)
Wow so glad i found this channel.
whats up Goherping!!
ay
can you do more videos of you bts and snakes
5:47 "IT SUCKS FAM" :D
Hope you get your comments back, man. Lonely in here.
Theres surface temperature and then there is ambient air temperature the basking spot will be to hot if you dont distance the lamp
I would actually like a hydrometer that can be Bluetooth or somehow read from my iPhone. I’m completely blind, but the iPhone has accessibility software. I’m wondering if you know anything about this. I have a talking thermometer, but I don’t have anything to measure humidity for the enclosure. I always appreciate your reviews on things. And again, I do literally mean that I am completely blind. I have no optic nerves. So since I can’t see, but the iPhone has accessibility software, it would be great if there was a hydrometer that could sync to my iPhone. Then I could read it read outs.
Govee thermometer / hygrometer
Have you tried Acurite digital ones? I'm in a ball python facebook group and they swear by those digital ones, I think you get them from Walmart
Haven't tried it, but I see them used a lot so I'm sure they're pretty good
TheSpeedy0108 H I just got one for my hermit crabs, I honestly wish I knew about them before I bought the petco analog ones. Only problem is I don't know how to "hang it" in the tank
This video convinced me to just buy digital. I want that humidity measurement to be accurate.
I just got a ball python and I put the UTH on the side of the tank is that ok?
It needs to go under the tank.... This is why it's called an Under Tank Heater (UTH) .-.
Does anyone know how accurate the flukers Thermo and hygrometer is. I’m kind of stressed that it goes straight too 99 for the humidity in my crested geckos tank
It did the worst on a test I just read.
Will you review our product?
Is Great Choice a good one?
Not sure, haven't used that one. I imagine most are good enough to get an pretty good idea though
Those black little digital therno-hygro meters arent very accurate, they give pretty good humidity +-5% but temperature is not even close accurate.. I tested this and it shows 24C in 22C temperature.. Humidity is accurately 54% when this shows 57%.. So humidity is pretty accurate, temperature not even close.. Also, the temperature seems to rise with humidity..
5TH!
I use a Acu-rite humidity monitor
can someone recommend a good one ? my last one broke pls respond if you have a good one
Nighting Gale thank you I just got a beardie and I need a more accurate thermometer
Does the temp gun measure humidity?
Antonio La Cava-Torres no
Anyone else have a issue with zoo med humidity/temp gauge
The humidity doesn’t seem accurate anymore
I prefer face down back up.
I have the same problem expect my snake is a butt and he's super picky I tried feeding him a rat and he only likes live mice he has a problem where I put the mouse in and he looks at it and slithers right around it I dot. Know he's hard to feed unfortunately there's only one place I can get live mice and I have to wait till the fuzzy mice are bigger -.- so it's been about 7 days and he has not eaten in a week he's only 5 months old HELP ANYONE , HERPING PLZ HELP
What are the best heat lamps for Leopard Geckos
MicroSta no heat lamps use a heat mat and if it's to cold you can always put a red heat lamp to keep it warm
Ok thanks
Since you have a bird and a snake does the snake bite you if it smells the bird on your hands?
+shockwave156 I don't actually handle our parakeet, but snakes will bite if I have mouse or rat scent on my hands. Just a quick wash eliminates the chance
GoHerping ok thank you I love how you always respond, and for the next video I think you should teach how to tame a wild snake, how to trap one with out harming it and what to to if it gets out, I curantly don't have one now but I might get one soon. Because I really enjoy handling them
Cool, I've had my wild snake for over a year now and he's changed a lot so I'll need to talk about what I did soon, thanks!
Hi,just purchaseMy gecko.I have a few questions if you can help me.I got him a heated mat that goes on the bottom of the tank, but it gets really hot 90 to 100 degrees.he is only 3 months old.
I'm not sure what specie sof gecko you're talking about, but I'd suggest buying or ordering a reptile thermostat. If this is a leopard gecko, 90 degrees is fine, but I wouldn't go past 92-93 or so: www.amazon.com/dp/B002CZ0J3E?tag=goherping-20
Thank you for your reply, my gecko is a leopard gecko.and yes i got a thermostat, and the temperature is between 85 to 88.I am more relax and feel better about going to work and not worry.he is only 3 months.
how old are you
CHE's can be put on a dimmer switch (Amazon link to a Dimmer Switch: a.co/gz2RkPc ) to help get the heat just right.
Acurite makes a digital thermometer/hygrometer combo that's about $8 (USD) on Amazon. Lots of people I know keep two in their enclosures at all times, one on the hot side and one on the cold side. (an Amazon link to a two pack: a.co/6A78C7T )
I think I have to feed my bp live because he won't eat frozen at all
What have you tried to convince him to eat frozen, and has he ever eaten it?
Try to like move it shake it with tongs when(if) he takes it wiggle it like its trying to escape
Do you house any crested geckos?
No, I've looked into them but I'm not thaattt interested
Did you make this video In a padded room ?
Nose twitch at 7:07
exo terra is what I use with my ball python junior🐉🐉🐉🐉
Suh
I was quicker lmao
Really? 7 degree difference "isn't too bad" ?? I guess wanting a 73 degree house, is almost like an 80 degree house?
Bruh. If you are going to test equipment you need, not only various equipment. You also need various brands. Wet paper is inconcistant since they measure humidity, not humidity and moisture.
Those your thermometers not thermostats
No shit.
ALEX PIN ME PLEASE! PLEASE!
AND DO YOU WATCH THEODD1SOUTS?
I do
I don't trust petco
This test is not valid, you did not calibrate the hygrometers before the test...
