    along with his acting he was a very good dancer of various disciplines, the moves he was taught for the tv series he learnt like dance routines! so with 20+ years of dancing he had amazing balance and poise, then he actively embraced the spiritual side of kung-fu as well...:)

    I often would do some of these warm ups before class. Strangely they made a significant difference in my own personal performance and practice.

    Beautiful choreography and a great advert for the tai mantis system with sifu Yuen teaching a small group in the background. Great art direction here and I like the dialogue to, this is very high end of the market and David shines.

    I think the video was referring more to how the monks would sit for hours at a time in meditation. They created Kung Fu at first not for defense, but to help relax their bodies so they could meditate for longer periods.

  • @Arzak8
    @Arzak8 12 лет назад +1

    Hmm, well it could be both. From what I've researched since I began learning Tai Chi the Chinese martial arts first developed as a series of stretching exercises used to relax the body so mediation was easier. It probably developed from that into a fighting form when they needed to protect themselves. Really impossible to know the exact origin since it's so far in the past, but that's what I've read.

    he had trainers to even know how to stand for the camera,he took bruce lee's job,so naturally he had to learn some moves,and when confronted with the inevitable chore of learning moves he liked it and proceeded to learn at break neck speed,kungfu series,thenLONEWOLF MCQADE,then the rest is history,his sexual fantasies,he only understood,i don't judge, just read the funny papers to keep track of the loonies who profess to be genuine,oh well he is now history himself,leaving his last act of silly

      Shawn Mackinnon Karate originates from Okinawan kung fu - most Eastern Matrial Arts have their base in Shaolin, though through the years their expressions have differed. These days most people won't be able to differentiate Shaolin from Karate or even Jujitsu, they've only watched the Matrix and think it's all the same...

    holy fu, so much to say about this'n! those workout costumes look like something from the original Battlestar Galactica. The demonstrators looked like their were performing for Babylon 5. The creepy look he gave after the neck exercise, I was certain he was going to inform us now was the time to drink the punch. Oh, and his reference at the end about treating Kung Fu like a life-long love partner... Yeah, cuz Carradine's love adventures all ended so well!... Too soon?

    David was good in the series but never really knew Kung Fu he was a piece of work in real life and a drug addict. Funny back then people probably bought the fact that this video was good.

    That's kind of disrespecting to the monks (Sitting around all day like the early shaolin monks)

    • @andysloane79
      @andysloane79 3 года назад +1

      But that IS the legend regarding the creation of Shaolin Chuan Fa. The Indian monk Bodhidarma supposedly taught physical training routines to the Shaolin monks because they were weak-bodied from lack of physical exercise. The monks perfected those arts and codified them into Shaolin Chuan Fa. We don't know how true that is but that's the legend nevertheless.

    Wow. Chinese martial arts practitioner here. This is some really cringe stuff. You can lump up all the dojo lore you could possibly come up with, with all the cookie-cutter esoteric, pseudo-philosophical language you want and it still won't make it real.
    I understand in a way though. "kung fu" was new and cool at the time and back then you could say anything esoteric about it and people would believe you.
