That’s a lie …neither BBD nor Bobby NEED Ralph as evidenced by their continued succes without him …if they NEEDED him how were they able to have a sold out RBRM tour ? You can EASILY look on RUclips and see the scope of that tour ..if they NEEDED Ralph why was BBD able to do a SOLD OUT “Run” tour ? How was BBD able to do 2 HEADLINING TOURS in arenas without him ? Why are BBD doing award shows WITHOUT HIM , NBA all star weekend , talk shows etc all WITHOUT him if they need him so much …what has Ralph did of note without the rest of New Edition ?
Seriously. Enough said. They all crazy as hell, but in the end they all need each other. But tip the day we are no longer on this earth we will deal with their drama…guaranteed!!
Ralph is the engine - his voice carried the initial four albums. Home Again, gave a more balanced offering with Rickey carrying a good load of the duties. I think Mike notices the sensitivity of Ralph so he shouts him out on occasion. Ralph does need the group more than the other members yet the fans want to see all six together. You don't have NE without Ralph, but you can still get a good show with BBD and Brown, and Gill is by far the most independent of the group. Yet who would want to see NE (label) w/o Ralph? It's strange to be the heartbeat of the group yet also need the group the most and that is what hurts Ralph (to me) - he needs the group more than they need him, yet he was loyal to the group in the early days when he didn't have to be. A true paradox.
It’s ALL Bobby’s fault! LOL! No but if you think about the departure of a member from a group it is usually that primary lead first, Bob actually being voted out and doing his solo thing really robbed Ralph of the opportunity to capitalize off that, when NE did break out to do their solo projects Ralph being last and just mellow wasn’t received with the same excitement as BBD who were more HIP HOP and Johnny really just killed it with his 90’s version of Teddy P, I think what hurts Ralph most is if he had not been as unselfish as he was none of that success would be to that extent because if he walked away from NE early on the group may not have survived
@@chadholmes5599 Bobby didn't primary lead first. In fact, Ricky was actually singing a lot of Bobby's parts before Bobby left the group. This was said Bobby himself in one of their interviews.
OMG. My thoughts 💯. You nailed it. As much as Ralph was the face and voice, I also believe that he was affected by the child star problem. Time moves on and people grow. This proved to be advantageous for Bobby, Johnny and Ricky. When the new generations of singers came through like B2M, Shai, Silk, Jodeci, it matched styles of Bobby, Johnny and Ricky. I am sure he got a bit traumatised by the success of BBD and seeing Ricky taking centre stage and in a big getting awards way. From Home Again, Ricky has stood more ground, which I have liked too. Heads of States was more of a diss to Mike and BBD until the issue with the NE name ownership issue that Ralph and Johnny had. This then pissdd Bobby also. He left Heads of State and joined BBD, forming RBRM. Another painful situation for Ralph. At least they worked things out now. This is now about retirement bags. The most important thing to remember is that Ricky is the original lead singer of New Edition. Ricky is the reason why NE has Ralph because he brought Ralph to the group. Kinda like Jermaine and Michael J kkkkkkkk.
Lets be honest, Ralph was the star of EARLY New Edition. After they grew up, both BBD, Bobby and Gil left Ralph and went LIGHT years further than Ralph ever did on his own. Ralph had his time as lead in the beginning , but the others out grew him and out worked him. Numbers don't lie.
Keeping it a BUCK one man doesn’t stop the show 💯 they all have a lane & Ralph wanted to create something new but old a familiar like RBRM did he could because he’s a legend as well.. I think at the moment he was in his feelings… I say this because a true brother wants to see his family winning no matter what!
@realityme That's facts! They are no longer teens and that baby voice didn't transition them into men entertainers. Like you said, Ralph had his day but the rest grew, too and outworked him. And as much as people don't want to admit it, Bobby Brown & BBD were the truth!! Gotta give credit, where credit is due.
They were more successful than Ralph but I wouldn't say by light year's. Because that would mean Ralph wasn't significant at all after the split. Which wasn't the case.
Bottom line. All these Brothers worked out their differences and are back together again. ALL SIX OF THEM!!. That's what I love the most about New Edition. Long live & life to these Brothers. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Butttt, didn’t Ralph, Johnny and Bobby go out as “Heads Of State”? I’m asking it facetiously….cause I actually saw them as Heads Of State TWICE….he can’t be mad at them for making money if he didn’t want to make money with them at that time. But I am happy as hell that they worked it out!! NE!!
@@brownin329because Ralph and Johnny trademarked the new edition name instead of doing it equally with all guys . But the upside the loving side of it all through it all all 6 black men came back together without violence
Here's the true story: Ralph and Johnny bout the copy name of " New Edition" to preserve the legacy and keep any spino offs groups that might damaged the brand. Ralph and Johnny bought the name. None of the other members had a say s o.
Right! Ralph had to learn the hard way that he was not a successful solo act. He probably looked at Bobby and thought he could but Ralph works as one of the unit. If he didn't want to work at that time then, why should they have to sit home? Sometimes pride gets in the way, and people lie to themselves for too long.
Ralph has done so much for all of them. They never would've even got signed if it wasn't for him. Even on "Every Little Step" you can hear Ralph's adlibs in the background because he had the song first and gave it to Bobby.
I understand where Ralph was coming from but before RBRM…there were two separate factions…Heads of State ( Bobby,Johnny, & Ralph) and B.B.D….they were touring before the New Edition movie and they should have capitalized on the popularity of that…however, this is all old news…maybe it was getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame…that made them realize that they are stronger together…they had a successful tour for close to 2 years …now they are doing a residency in Las Vegas …now all New Edition needs to do is record a live album and release a concert film !
A album with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis producing half of the songs...the other half produced by Babyface ...a track by Erick Sermon would be great too...he produced " Run" for BBD a few years ago...they sounded great ...maybe 8 or 9 songs...better yet 5 live recordings of classic songs and 5 new joints!
Only problem is on Monday, Ralph will be the problem, Tuesday it'll be Bobby, Wednesday its Biv...Thursday they're back to loving each other, and rinse and repeat the scenario...lol
No, I don’t trust that what I do trust is that the ugly three of the group their own group. They were probably jealous of Ralph because all the girls like Ralph!!!
The reason I believe Ralph’s album didn’t do as well as the other members because, (remember, this is just my opinion). Okay, think back. When Bobby came out with that second album, his sound, attitude, etc, was totally different from what we saw from N.E. It was just different and everyone loved it. Then comes BBD. Their album totally different from what we expected. Hell, my son was shocked when he realized BBD was apart of N.E. because it was totally different. And Johnny Gill, his solo album, and you can’t forget about LSG. Need I say more? I think not! Now, that brings us to Ralph’s project, to me, it just sounds too much like New Edition.🤷🏾♀️ I think that if he did something different from the N.E. sound, his album would’ve received a better response. The only song on that album that sounded outside of N.E. is “Last Night” and that’s my favorite song on that album. I also like “She’s My Love Thang”. Those are the only two songs I listen to on that album. Bottom line, everyone else’s solo projects was totally different from that N.E. sound that we were used to hearing, but Ralph was still, (what’s the word I’m looking for), STUCK in that N.E. sound. Everyone else went against the grain but Ralph stayed inside the box. Just my opinion!
No lies told. His first album you could skip most tracks. Three sounded just alike. No excuse for that because R&B was great in 1990-1995. Maybe he shoulda did pop music. 🤷🏾
That’s so true. I also believe that NE’s sound is Ralph and Ralph is NE. The two can’t be separated. The others had the luxury of being able to create a different sound. Ralph could have sang anything to any style or any best but we would all still hear NE. Ralph is New Edition. I’m just happy that the world gave us ALL these talented black men❤
Ralph and Bobby have both said Ralph’s solo project was supposed to sound more like Bobby’s but the label didn’t think it would do well cause Ralph was the good wholesome guy.
Ralph's album should have been a Jam and Lewis album, the other producers didn't have that Ralph mode like Jimmy and Terry. The best songs were Jam and Lewis
I have to say this as an NE4 life fan since 1983. Ralph has mismanaged his solo career in my opinion! Although history has shown that Bobby Brown became the unexpected superstar from NE and BBD had massive crossover success, Ralph never packaged his material correctly in my opinion. He is the backbone of New Edition and has to leverage both his solo projects and blend his NE songs that he obviously sang lead vocals on. No one can convince me that he can’t sell out 500 to 3,000 seat clubs and arenas across the country with his name brand recognition. He never does “Money Can’t Buy Me Love” which any NE fan knows and was a hit for him. “When I Need Somebody” is another great song from Ralph’s second album. Package those songs with Sensitivity, Do What I Gotta Do, Stone Cold Gentleman and some of NE’s joints like Crucial, Lost In Love, With You All The Way and he can kill it with his showmanship and legendary status. This shit that Ralph can’t sell as a solo act is ridiculous. He needs to know his worth and do his own thing more often. I love and support all the guys equally but Ralph has to understand that he is a superstar with 40 years of fame and love from his core fan base. 💯
FOR REAL, "Money Cant Buy You Love" knocks, and easily top 5 Jam & Lewis productions EVER. Ralph should perform that song every chance he gets. Bottom line, all 6 plus Payne are still the STANDARD, and now they are crushing it out in Vegas with the continuous extensions on their engagements. NE4lifer since 1982.
Keeping it a BUCK one man doesn’t stop the show 💯 they all have a lane & if Ralph wanted to create something new but old a familiar like RBRM did he could because he’s a legend as well.. I think at the moment he was in his feelings… I say this because a true brother wants to see his family winning no matter what!
I thought that group was formed because there was a dispute about the name New Edition that was trademarked by Ralph and Johnny. The other members felt a way about not sharing ownership in the name and formed RBRM.
Johnny Gill wasn't an original member. He already had a solo album out when he was called to replace Bobby Brown in the late 80s. A standout voice when he joined the group, but he didn't "trademark" anything
@stephensheppard1083 I don't know what the actual story is, but that was the story floating around when they had their disagreement, and I know that whatever it was has apparently been resolved.
When they first started Ralph was the most talented of the group. The others had to work at it. Bobby was the bad boy with talent. When they split Ronnie Ricky and mike needed to prove themselves so they worked harder as BBD and it panned out because they managed to get good producer’s for their debut album. Bobby needed to prove that he didn’t need NE his first album didn’t do so well because it wasn’t done properly. Ralph’s problem when he decided to finally put out an album was he didn’t take the time to make sure the album was top level with hits it was rushed. I am a huge fan of NE and Ralph has always been my favorite but I always felt he was cheated as a solo artist. I always felt he should have been bigger than he was when his album dropped. Or maybe he is one of those artist that is meant to be a lead singer of a group. He always seems detached from the group whenever they do interviews. It just sucks whenever he does his set during their concerts and he only has like two to three songs to perform when the others have so many hits. As for Johnny he needed NE to further his solo career. When he first started his voice was too grown for his age so no one knew what to do with him. Him joining NE was the best move for him because once he dropped his solo album fans were familiar with him from the group so that is how he got bigger. By their individual second albums it all tanked. For Bobby it was his third. Right now at this stage they all need each other. They can tour individually but it wouldn’t be as successful as a collective.
Ralph picked some boring ahh songs on the first album. He picked better for the second one but by 1993 it was a wrap and R.Kelly and Tevin, Aaron Hall, Keith Washington etc were dominating with strong vocals. His taste in music just wasn't what people wanted to hear. He got it right with All Mine though...
Ralph had no choice but to move creatively into the direction he did as a solo artist. Bobby was THE solo singer regarding R&B/New Jack in 1990. His vocals weren’t strong enough to compete with Johnny and the adult contemporary vibe he was in and BBD completely shook the game up when they hit. What Ricky does for them is actually what Ralph should have been. His first album was produced by Jam and Lewis and he had some 🔥cuts. Thing is, his records sound JUST LIKE NEW EDITION records. He could do nothing to set him self apart from everyone else.
The fact that you obviously haven’t read the producers list on Ralph’s debut shows just how little you know .. he had heavy hitters he just didn’t have IT that’s why he sold the absolute LEAST and has NEVER had a headlining tour on his own while BBD has had 3 headlining tours AND they did arenas as RBRM … Ralph has NEVER had the ability to be a headlining act . Poison is a pop standard and still has staying power 30 years later . The only time you will hear sensitivity is on an adult contemporary oldies hour “maybe”
Also what hurt Ralph, is that he had one, maybe two songs by Jam and Lewis (which were hits for him) but Johnny's whole first album (after joining the group) was done by Babyface and Jam and Lewis (and Bobby's second album was also done by Babyface and Teddy Riley) if Ralph had of had that kind of production support on his first album from top to bottom I think he would have had much more hits too, because that's back when those producers were at the top of their game!
@MrWARBUCKS24 Ralph still getting the short end of the stick if the profits split 7 ways... he still sang 95% of the lead vocals on all the 80s albums. He should rightfully get a larger percentage because if he isn't there then it's no NE concert.
@@Dutchess80 Brooke gave them the name he could’ve been a total dick about it and got ownership of it 40yrs. To my knowledge they’ve never gone out as NE without Ralph so that’s not an issue it’s good all 7 own the name
I feel Ralph because he had the opportunity SEVERAL times to leave New Edition...especially when they were younger, but his loyalty was always to New Edition, so to see this story about them just leaving him behind...Hell, that breaks my heart because I don't think a lot of fans new that. Wow! It's always those back/behind the scene's stories for me. Well, I sure hope they got things together. I know their tour had been going well, so I just hope they all made peace with each other. They are truly one of those groups that we have always rooted for...then and now.
Everything played out how it was meant to be. If things went smoothly. Johnny Gill would have no career and no my my my. Bell biv devoe would have never set the stage for the 90s. Also Bobby would never become the king of the new Jack era. That own our own Ghostbusters song pretty much save that movie. In some parallel universe. New Edition never broke up and we never gotten all of that fire music that we got from them. Because i think that they would have faded away because they would have no fire to move them forward.
When you have Bobby Brown in the mix, every member is needed. Ralph Tresvant had to do vocals for the second half of Every Little Step because Bobby went on a binge while recording and failed to finish the song, so Ralph stepped in to finish it for him. There is a video on RUclips where he talks about it and you can actually hear it in the chorus of song if you listen closely.
@@jasonito23 who gives a damn if Ralph song one half of one song …where is his mega hit at? The only time you hear sensitivity is if you play it your damn self
@@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 - You skipped all of the hits New Edition had where Ralph was the lead singer. He said Ralph and Johnny aren't need but Can You Stand the Rain is the best song they ever made, hands down, and Bobby is not on it.
The truth is they had to go out as RBRM because Johnny had just trademarked the name "New Edition " and refused to tour as new edition unless he was paid for them using the name. Ralph was just caught in the middle. Johnny did that because he was mad that his family wasn't in the miniseries so he used the trademark as payback.
I’m just glad they ALL are smart enough to put the egos and BS aside when it comes to making money. There’s strength in numbers and with all the solo successes…it just adds to a more compelling show! I take my hat off to these brothers for getting it right. They were FIYAH in Las Vegas!
At the time if im not mistaken NE was at the height of the biopic. They were about to do an album and a tour AND possibly another BIOPIC. It was perfect because they had a new generation watching them and had became fans so the album would have been perfect. Then came this fued that supposedly started bwcause the NE name ownership or something. Whatever it was it caused a fued of some sort. RBRM was started because BBD and BOBBY had a tour they were gonna do and decided to just work together. Either way that fued was horrible timing
I think if the management would have use the original blueprint of New Edition Ralph would have had a very good solo run also. We must remember the original blueprint was for Ralph Bobby and Ricky to all have leads on different types of songs. While having mike and Ronnie do little parts here and there. Unfortunately the management decided to stick with the one lead singer format. But it was not written for them to go that route. Everything worked out the way it's supposed to work out. Because they are now getting their flowers while they are alive to smell them.
I always thought Ricky Bell was the best singer out of New Edition and also thought he should have got a solo deal but honestly i think he didn't have the look that Bobby and Ralph had so they never pursued it which sucks but this was a thing with big women who had the voices but had models lip sync their voices
How Jlo stole Ashanti voice and got the credit and awards for Ashanti hard work. Jlo was deadaxx acting like she sung those songs and whole time it was Ashanti. And at the time Ashanti was new to the game so she had to sit there and let Jlo steal her work and couldn't do anything but sit there and let Jlo floss off her songs. Jlo wrong for that.
As a fan from day one I think the communication between the group during that time or whenever can be a little better even if they have to sit a day or two in a room just them as a group figure it out me Looking from the outside I think RBRM was also hurt/ mad for R&J taking ownership of the name it was stated to secure that nobody outside of the group taking the name again communication is the key so the guys during that time all had bills I think they went out to keep their money flowing "communication" is the key in the end they have each other & their families# NE4life
Some people don't seem to understand when groups form with the lead singer in place for years, when that lead singer is removed it's like you remove a central corner stone. Why?? Because it becomes the main engine of the group or the chief leader of a group! Even tho the others may remain and carry on the group it's going to feel different and be different to the public and the band. Change is good but but you will suffer a lot of negative feedback. Losing a leader of a band after many years is crucial thing to deal with and hard to maintain and it will never be the same!😢
The Heads of state situation was a bit different from RBRM because when Ralph, Johnny and Bobby formed that group, they weren't originally trying to do it as NE.
Look, if it wasnt for Mike Bivins they would still be in that slave contract they signed. Bivins was the brains behind the money. Everybody was making money off of them, but them. If he was the voice why wasnt he successful on his own? He did the same thing he accused them of. BBD was successful business wise, no egos.
Loved New Edition, but that BBD album dropped and that's all I really cared about at the moment, cuz I just got my drivers license and that CD never came out the deck!
@@jdfodio 😆 … CD players were optional in a few cars back then … you know, the tape player and CD player stacked in the dash. It was my mom's car, cuz I sure as hell didn't have any money for a car. And I had plenty of friends that installed CD decks in their cars too. The pull-out joints, then a couple years later the removable faceplate ones.
Ralph sound as hard as a MoFo... but when he sings tho? That VOICE!!! I don't understand it either...they didn't need him to do well, but he quite possibly needed them, a little more. All's well, that ends well - very glad to see NE under one name. Go get it Fellows!!! ❤🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾❤
Isn't it strange how his speaking voice is so deep but he still sings in his upper register falsetto? It's like his singing voice never grew up. A lot of people can only take him in the group.
Come on man. I thought after the NE movie came out all their differences had been aired out, and everything was on the table. NE doesn't communicate for some reason if an issue comes up. I really like all of these guys, and just want them to peacefully coexist. NE is my all time favorite group forever!!
Who would BBD be without Ricky? BBD only had a one hit song. Bobby Brown had his time to shine in the 90's after that he fizzled out. Not one promoter today is calling on him for anything. The man from the 90's is no more. So, what does he do, fall back on New Edition to pick him up. I'm so sick of everyone on here putting Ralph down when he put his solo project on hold to try and pull New Edition. I will continue to say his error was that he did not do as Michael J. did; he should have dropped them like a boiling hot potato, and left them in the hood there they probably would still be. The industry didn't want them they wanted Ralph. Ralph never needed them he tried to pull them along with him. Johnny never walked away from Ralph, get that lie straight. Ralph could have been bigger than or as big as M.J. Wake up from the 80's and 90's people. Bobby Brown had his shine and it is over, over, over. All that money he made is gone, gone, gone on babies, women, cars, drugs and booze. Again, no one is calling on him. He is back where he first started. I applaud Ralph for being a loyal and true friend to them but it was not returned. If I could go back for Ralph I would have dropped kicked them to the curb for Ralph. Without Ralph there would be no BBD, no Bobby Brown. Ralph already proved he could perform without them. If Ralph walked away right now from New Edition, I guarantee Johnny would go with him. Bobby Brown can barely put one foot in front of the other. BBD got their one hit that made them famous in a way. So, who really needs who? If Ralph only had one hit song, then what did Ricky have as a solo artist? I’ll go ahead and tell you NOTHING!!! At least Ralph has some accomplishments under his belt, what do any of you have? From what I’ve read Ralph has amassed more money than BBD and Bobby Brown.
I thought over the years these guys spent too much time bickering at each other when the record labels was the one screwing them over even though they remain Brothers outside of music but falls music concerned these guys should have put a difference to the side and just became a group I know it's tough but he goes should be checked at the door
Are we forgetting that Johnny & Ralph trademarked the name New Edition so it couldn't be used without their permission. Ralph need to stop playing in our face with the sob story. I'm just glad they figured out what really matters and got it together. Cause I went to the RBRM tour...it was 🔥! Ricky's vocals were finally able to shine!
I remember when the members of New Edition did separate projects. Ralph saw the success of the others and he admitted he thought about how his album would be perceived. At the time, Ralph did not want to do vulgar music. We all know that's what sells. The beat and the vulgar lyrics helped the others to be more successful. I saw an interview where Ronnie DeVoe said he had a hard time with the lyrics "the low pro ho" on BBD's Poison song, but I guess he got over it after the money started flowing and Bobby Brown got arrested for lewdness with a woman on stage at his concert. Johnny Gill was a solo artist before he joined New Edition. Ralph wanted to keep his music more clean and respectful. Despite doing that his solo album still went Platinum. Was it worth it to him, I don't know, but when New Edition performs, true fans do not want to see New Edition without Ralph. The others have talent, but without Ralph, something huge would be missing. Take his voice out of every song and see what you get.
Everyone in these comments who act like Ralph's solo career was a flop obviously wasn't alive at the time AND they don't really know or love R&B. That album is STILL fire. They play 🎶Sensitivity in Starbucks, for God's sake.
@@copperdee3073 Ralph fans have to be the most delusional group of people in music …as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coko and she does 95% of the lead vocals she CANNOT and HAS NOT thrived without Taj and LeLe and I’m a HUGE Coko fan
Same with Omarion...I LOVE O and I respect his wishes of being on his own especially after how fizz and the others tried to tear him down for not letting them disrespect him and still make money wit them. Fact is Omarion 1st two albums were good. But in the end everybody wanted to see b2k TOGETHER. And that 2019 tour showed that. Omarion may be a good solo entertainer but he was a mega star with his group. But again no way in hell imma be a cash cow for my group and they literally disrespect me every chance they get for clout. Omarion ended up better off without them even if the fans wanted that tour. We got the tour, the members got their bag... but should o stay wit b2k just so they can be happy after how they treated him?! Hell no ..he doesn't owe them nothing. I know Beyonce went solo too and moved a few members around in her early group days...and she did better solo... But if destinys child got back together one more time I'm sure that tour would be record breaking epic. That may be her last ace in the hole after this country album. And everybody was acting like Michael Jackson was wrong for leaving his brothers/Jackson 5. MJ KNEW nobody was coming to see his brother, just Michael but he probably thought his brothers would help carry the pressure. They didn't they depended on MJ til the day he died. when you see ya own brothers treating you like their meal ticket/ATM no you don't wanna do shxt for the team/band anymore. Watching that Neverland movie about MJ and his bodyguard showed me yes his brothers were literally extorting and milking him. Yet cried at his funeral like they didn't have a hand in his despire and defeat. The industry is nothing nice for nobody. God bless rizz for seeing the bigger picture and putting his pride aside and just doing his part for the team. A 40 yr legacy is hard to disband especially over petty shxt. All the best to N.E4Life
@copperdee3073 He needs uglier dudes next to him with terrible voices to stand out. Great marketing tactic. 👌🏾 But the reality is...the cat can't hold his own vocally amongst the better singers of the early 90s. Those men had deeper sexier voices like Johnny. Ralph has a pop white style and sound. Similar to MJ and Whitney. His mistake was an all blk production team. He shoulda been talking to David Foster and Linda Perry for the hit pop songs to crossover. 30 years later folks figuring this out. He sounds waaay too much like MJ. That's a pop singer.
Ralph is a narcissist. His ego should understand that Bobby, BBD, and Gill can easily tour on their own without him. He can dance his butt off and is the face of the groups, but facts or facts...his solo albums and voice are the weakest links.
Being upset about them using the names that their moms gave them is top-tier narcissistic. Okay, they used them in the order you said them in a song, but come on y'all SMH
Ralph you my man but you sitting up here trying to play the victim 😂 at the time he's talking about he knows why they formed RBRM because Ralph and Johnny took ownership of the name New Edition without involving RBRM that's why but good things this is old and everything good now between all 6. 💪💯♥️
If rizz don't wanna tour with them don't mean their bag gotta stop. They still gotta eat..they all have families to provide for. So if Ralph and Johnny acting like they don't wanna get that money, the show still had to go on BUT I STILL AGREE WITH RALPH the group owe Ralph ALOT. Not becuz he's the lead singer but becuz he knows he would a been so much farther had he not held himself back to push them forward with him. They need each other. Every single member even johnny is needed in N.E
I know he did not fix his face to say he'd done nothing malicious to the group!!!!!! Ummm, sir! You and Johnny slimly trademarked the name New Edition!!!! That's not malicious????? Ralph is and has always been a hater! He's still bitter cuz his career didn't take off like the rest of the 5. People would pay GOOD money to see a BBD show with JUST their one poppin album - Poison. Wootie Mack was aiiiiiiigh't, but Poison will forever rock a crowd - no skips. Ralph's self-titled album got 2 good hits - I ain't paying money to see JUST him!
I said after 'The New Edition Story' aired, Ralph is STILL bitter at Bell Biv DeVoe about how they did him in 86 or 87 when he wanted to go solo the first time and they went and got Johnny Gill. Ralph seems to me that he still upset over that.
@@a-m3248 he wouldn’t have made it just like he didn’t make it when he actually did go solo …he sold what he sold strictly because he was a member of New Edition , hell I bought the album and barely listened to it because it wasn’t good …I didnt buy another damn album of his after that (and not many other people either as evidenced by the sales ) but I DID buy the Bobby album and the Hootie Mack album
Rizz woulda been good if he took that solo deal after candy girl. But his loyalty for his friends kept him from that opportunity. The 2nd time (rick, Mike and Ronnie) was threatening to replace him with JG if he went solo...he did sensitivity anyway and did well...but Bobby and Johnny saturated the new jack swing wave by the time Ralph did his own thing...he was too late to get that high as a solo star...even tho he went #1. Ralph didn't have staying power as a solo artist like Bobby..even johnny couldn't sell out 20,000+ seats at a arena solo like Bobby did... rizz and Johnny had way better voices but they couldn't touch Bobby energy. Ralph did right by staying loyal to his band but overall..his loyalty cost him his individual path that had ALOT of potential. Ralph was damned if he do.. damned if he don't ATP. So him gaining ownership of N.E was his right after all he gave up for everyone else to be great. Johnny owns the name too but idk how when he's not a day 1 member. It should be split 7 ways including Brooke Payne. He's the godfather of N.E and if it wasn't for that man n.e wouldn't be here today. Johnny was slick with that money move.
@@dantegood2195 no they don’t ALL need each other
Ralph is the engine - his voice carried the initial four albums.
Bobby and ricky were far better singers than Ralph. And their best selling album was when Johnny came. Lol🤷🏾♂️ijs

They are, to, me, one of the best R&B groups ever. They had their issues, many "groups" do. It is great seeing them together!
And a movie for each person's individual life The Ralph Tresvant Story us one of them.
Bobby always ends up either in the sub new edition group or going on tour and hanging with the sub group like he did with BBD😂
Should record 1 last album period, unless their content with that One Love album on Bad Boy.
If you have 5 professional hugely successful grown men, and all 4 have a equal problem with the same ONE guy, then TRUST, the one guy IS the problem.

Valid points
RBRM was 🔥 the tour was dope AF

Everyone was and IS talented; Ralph is speaking from his ego.
That all came about because they found out Ralph and Johnny was trying to own the name "New Edition"
That's something they should have collective decided to do 30+ years ago. Mike Bivens should have atleast secured it in the 80s.
Exactly
All of that is fixed now all 6 members and Brooke Payne own the name
@MrWARBUCKS24 Ralph still getting the short end of the stick if the profits split 7 ways... he still sang 95% of the lead vocals on all the 80s albums. He should rightfully get a larger percentage because if he isn't there then it's no NE concert.
@@Dutchess80 Brooke gave them the name he could’ve been a total dick about it and got ownership of it 40yrs. To my knowledge they’ve never gone out as NE without Ralph so that’s not an issue it’s good all 7 own the name

Yeah, but my question is at what point did you and J.Gill Copyright the group name?
Some people don't seem to understand when groups form with the lead singer in place for years, when that lead singer is removed it's like you remove a central corner stone. Why?? Because it becomes the main engine of the group or the chief leader of a group! Even tho the others may remain and carry on the group it's going to feel different and be different to the public and the band. Change is good but but you will suffer a lot of negative feedback. I really like all of these guys, and just want them to peacefully coexist. NE is my all time favorite group forever!!
Ralph needs to stop it. Just stop it.
Idc Ralph you are and always have been my favorite artist of the group 💜🦋💋

I'm just glad they figured out what really matters and got it together. Cause I went to the RBRM tour...it was 🔥! Ricky's vocals were finally able to shine!
Where is this from?
That Martin Lawrence joke didn’t help his case either. Gotta a lot of love and respect for Ralph tho. Still a legend!
I feel him
Bell Biv Devoe WORKED ..
I really feel for Ralph
Everyone in these comments who act like Ralph's solo career was a flop obviously wasn't alive at the time AND they don't really know or love R&B. That album is STILL fire. They play 🎶Sensitivity in Starbucks, for God's sake.
Johnny gill aka baby Jesus has current hits. He puts out great music.
BBD Killed
They should have been a group in 85 n let Ralph do his solo
Ralph was horrible as a solo artist. He's better performing as a unit with his NE brothers.
All the best to N.E4Life
@@Mone333Williams Omarions career far eclipsed Ralph Tresvants - TERRIBLE comparison
BBD was kinda really successful though.
Jus sayin.
😂😂😂😂😂
Ralph still cool
..
Eff this sh!t, they need to work this out & move forward. Just be available to communicate. At this point, who cares whos right. Make it right.
Hall and Oates had this issue ..onw was touring and performing songs that the other penned...so he sued him...jus sayin👀🙈...
THEY FOUL STILL DISRESPECTING RIZ
lol how did they disrespect him ?
If rizz don't wanna tour with them don't mean their bag gotta stop. They still gotta eat..they all have families to provide for. So if Ralph and Johnny acting like they don't wanna get that money, the show still had to go on BUT I STILL AGREE WITH RALPH the group owe Ralph ALOT. Not becuz he's the lead singer but becuz he knows he would a been so much farther had he not held himself back to push them forward with him. They need each other. Every single member even johnny is needed in N.E
Are they not together?
This group always at each other over something. My goodness.
❤❤❤ you said it better than i could
I said after 'The New Edition Story' aired, Ralph is STILL bitter at Bell Biv DeVoe about how they did him in 86 or 87 when he wanted to go solo the first time and they went and got Johnny Gill. Ralph seems to me that he still upset over that.
No, that's not it.
@@brownin329 'The New Edition Story' kind of hints at.
Ralph should’ve just took the solo deal from the jump bruh
He woulda never made it. Bobby on the other hand was the King Of R&B.
@@copperdee3073He definitely would’ve made it. And Bobby is not the king of r&b.
I ain't mad, he put in his hard work too.
@@Mone333Williams Rizz would’ve did good if he left after candy girl BASED ON WHAT ? you’re speculating and making a up an alternative fact that DOES NOT EXIST …
