European Le Mans should open a Hyper Car Non Hybrid class since WEC has far too many Hybrid cars. Since Glickenhaus pulled out of WEC, same with Vanwall Racing not being able to race this year. Like it or not but bear with me. Give Privateers A Chance. Please.
Why a non-hybrid class? Them being non-hybrid wasn't the issue, it were the car designs, lack of funding and testing that caused them to fail. Glickenhaus couldn't even fund a full season, let alone make upgrades to the car and Vanwalls design was flawed and the engine aswell but a hybrid would not have fixed it, and if anything would have caused them to be even worse. The hybrid systems don't add any extra power, they are just a different way of producing the power. A non-hybrid LMH car and a LMDh car are basically the same, the only advantage the LMDh car has is the hybrid power gives instant torque but then also has more weight.

I would actually really like some sort of limit of how many of 1 type of hypercar can be on track. not as low as 2 but like, the fact there might be 7 porsches this year, and potentially more next year... can we cap it? it would actually be a good thing if teams who wanted in the class had to either make their own car or partner with another manufacturer to join because that means more variety and thats always a good thing. also really dont like the idea of porsche getting credit for wins when by just completely swamping the grid like what ended up being the case for a while in the 70s/80s. 6 of one car is enough while theyres teams running 1, ya know?
I get your point but I think the FIA just want as many Hypercars on the track as possible and don't care which ones they are but I do agree more variety would be best hopefully more privateers join in the coming seasons and use various cars
well the other manufacturers could incentivize privateer entries, but they just dont. Porsche shouldnt be knocked for doing something that any of the other manufacturers could. Im sure teams would be lining up to run Toyotas or Ferraris if they were given the chance.
Well it's not really their fault no other manufacturer is really providing customer cars. Also how are teams supposed to make their own car / partner up? Teams like Proton or JOTA might have the money to run a car, developing and testing a car from ground up requires a really big team and costs so much more money than the current model. Partnering up won't work either. How are they supposed to do that? E-Mail Audi if they want to build a car for them? If a manufacturer wanted to join they would do it with a factory effort, not some privateer team. If those were the only options we wouldn't have any privateers at all. I don't really see the issue with this either to be honest. Currently we have many cars, quite a lot of different brands, space for many highly talented drivers that might not have had a drive without these privateer efforts and they aren't taking up space of any other teams either. It only has positives.
The reason HyperCar is successful is because the FIA listened to the manufacturers in setting the rules. NOT LISTENING is why Sports cars series in the past had so many down periods with manufacturers pulling out. Allowing the makers to sell cars to privateers helps support research and development and also direct expenses of running the factory team. I think the game plan of all of the manufacturers ( except for maybe Toyota) is to eventually provide customer cars. It just hasn't happened yet as they need to get the factory teams in a competitive position as well as create more car building capacity. Even Porsche was delayed last year as it did not deliver any customer cars until after LeMans.
That was a great run down, and not a bowl of alphabet soup with class gobbledygook. Le Mans is classic racing not made near unintelligible by too many classes.
The organisers have completely ruined the last great endurance race, with the Americanisation of the slow zone/safety car/unlapping yourself nonsense. Its no longer about the endurance of the car,the skill of the drivers and pit crew. Now you can bin it in the gravel if you like, make mistakes and have technical failures, but as long as you have safety cars and get back on the lead lap,you can win. The inconsistency was glaring in relation to Ferrari last year and the ridiculous unlapping rules cost the iron dames a class win.
@@Alfxyizz they are pretty much uesless, its not like the old days of LMP2/675 when there were multiple manufactures competeing in it and they pretty much had their own race.

Wtf are you on about? Why would RLL, bmws IMSA TEAM NOT WEC, enter Le Mans? Just cus AX did so last year? Thats Cadillac not BMW. Also the FIA/ACO were clear to say that manufacturers who were already competing in Hypercar would be favoured when it comes to who would compete in LMGT3. Audi Customer GT racing is dead and Mercedes isnt really that important to the FIA and ACO as much as Ford or McLaren, who I assume were granted a spot cus Zak Brown co owns United Autosports and McLaren have stated the intention to build an LMDh
@bernardoberner4484 why did Action Express enter last year and the Porsche Penkse with the 3rd entry? The WEC/FIA doesn't control the 24hrs of Le Mans it's the ACO, go look it up, and look at the LMP2 class is in the Le Man even 2024 though LMP2 is not in the WEC season this year. Yes, if the ACO wants to, they can invite RRL BMW GTP car at Le Man this year.
@@bernardoberner4i don't think that's the case for RLL, they could but they seemingly don't want to just like porsche could easily field 2 extra 911 rsr cars in gte pro for the 2018 and 2019 editions, ran by a different team (manthey racing in europe and core autosport in north america)

A third car at Le Mans has become some sort of tradition already. Not every motorsport should be like F1. If anything, no motorsport other than F1 should be like F1.
unlike f1, gt3 is a customer team race, in other words, there is no factory team running the car, instead they give it to other teams (often privateers or factory-backed) btw this is not about WEC, which enforces that same rule, but le mans this year and other gt series in general

Even Porsche was delayed last year as it did not deliver any customer cars until after LeMans.
hope the Grello will do well
Too bad the blue monster won't return to keep people up at night
Im more interested in the Mustang lmgt3 this year!
The livery of the mclaren is I believed based on the F1 livery
Rossi acquitted himself pretty well at the 12 Hours of Bathurst. He can potentially do a good job at Le Mans.
I vote for Porsche, but I hope the newcomer Lamborghini does well too !
So Team Hendricks isnt going to race at Le Mans this year?
Nope
Shocked that Pratt and Miller said no to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
YOOOOO FORMULA JON FACE REVEAL
That was a great run down, and not a bowl of alphabet soup with class gobbledygook. Le Mans is classic racing not made near unintelligible by too many classes.
best is the top class in wec le mans gold era in the race 2024
Le Mans organisers missing a trick, why not put in 24 Hypers in 2024 for 24 Hour race❓😓 There is a 24th car right there. Weird.
I hope be 24 hyper cars
Me too!
LMH枠23台はやばい
The organisers have completely ruined the last great endurance race, with the Americanisation of the slow zone/safety car/unlapping yourself nonsense. Its no longer about the endurance of the car,the skill of the drivers and pit crew. Now you can bin it in the gravel if you like, make mistakes and have technical failures, but as long as you have safety cars and get back on the lead lap,you can win. The inconsistency was glaring in relation to Ferrari last year and the ridiculous unlapping rules cost the iron dames a class win.
All thumbs up for Toyota and Peugeot.
There’s to many LMP2 cars. There should be more spots for LMGT3 and the top class. One make series don’t bring the excitement and passion.
wec is amazing...
Who's been invited to garage 56 this year
1st :) Hello Jonah
Hello!
Why they allow so much Porsche? :/ can't wait to go at Imola soon!
Only team that has customer cars available
There is never too much Porsche
@@joshuabracero8581 Ferrari #83 is a customer entry, technically.
@falinestixiaolong9691 "technically" yeah but we all know it really isn't
MUSTANG💪💪💪
Nyck debris makes his return
Porsche needs to bring up 963 to the performance level of 919; otherwise, they'll go nowhere (again)!
#19 LAMBOOO
Wow no Mercedes at LeMans
What the fuck is up with that background music?
What is the problem with the music?
why cant we get rid of lmp2
No.
Why should we ?
@@Alfxyizz its stupid. and disgusting to look at.
@@Alfxyizz they are pretty much uesless, its not like the old days of LMP2/675 when there were multiple manufactures competeing in it and they pretty much had their own race.
Fair enough, wouldn't mind seeing a whole series full of LM2 tho' @@cool3865
12:47 (101)
101st year since they started racing but it wasn't run in 1936 due to workers strikes and between 1940-1948 due to WW2 and subsequently the track being rebuilt so it is the 92nd running
No RLL BMW for Hypercar, also no Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 or Audi R8 GT3
I would hope there arent any amg sls u know considering those arent in production anynore
@@bernardoberner4i don't think that's the case for RLL, they could but they seemingly don't want to
just like porsche could easily field 2 extra 911 rsr cars in gte pro for the 2018 and 2019 editions, ran by a different team (manthey racing in europe and core autosport in north america)
@@joaquingonzalez834 what do you mean? I didnt say anything, I just said that this guys comment makes no sense, cus theres been literally NOTHING said about an RLL entry for Le Mans
Toyota has never won LeMans against factory teams. Only against privateer teams.
Same can be said for Audi back in the early LMP1 days.
@@pmayo7894 Audi has won LeMans several times against factory teams. This is not in dispute.
As of yet, Toyota has not won against any factory team.
Can they? Maybe.
I’d wager they would trade all of their WEC championships for LeMans wins.
@@christopherlamitie3506 - "Audi has won LeMans several times against factory teams" - other factory teams... which aren't exactly good to begin with.
Don't show me the face cam😂 just get on with the news
I don’t think manufacturers should bring more than 2 cars tbh 2 each is right
A third car at Le Mans has become some sort of tradition already. Not every motorsport should be like F1. If anything, no motorsport other than F1 should be like F1.
unlike f1, gt3 is a customer team race, in other words, there is no factory team running the car, instead they give it to other teams (often privateers or factory-backed)
btw this is not about WEC, which enforces that same rule, but le mans this year and other gt series in general
