MERCI POUR CETTE MAGNIFIQUE VIDEO!!! L 'ENSEMBLE NOUS ÉLÈVE, A DES PAYSAGES SONORES, INÉSPÉRÉES ET TRÈS BELLES... LA SYNCHRONIE SOURIANT, DE L'IMMENSE COMPLICITÉ... QUELLE CITÉ !!! DIRECTEMENT DE SALVADOR-BAHIA.
Indeed, came to know of Carla through following Andy Sheppard. I came to love everything that Carla did (as I already had with Andy), but these three together were surely the ultimate combination. I was physically shaken to hear of her passing, RIP, so, so sad it hurts.
J'ai 67 ans. Ce n'est rien ! Le plus dur c'est de voir partir toutes celles et ceux qui nous ont nourris. Au sens propre comme au sens figuré, et ils ou elles sont nombreux. Sauf une.
the courage to always propose original, innovative music, to surround herself giving priority to expressiveness over technique, but if technique is not useful to emotion it is useless and Carla Bley was also an extraordinary pianist, because she used the essential to give and leave emotion in the people who loved her music, a natural genius, Fortunately, those who make art leave it to those who come after them and Carla Bley has left many testimonies of her magical creativity
What on EARTH are you talking about "enormously better than herself"...? Have you tried to PLAY the head of Donkey ? Have you heard many pianists with clearer attack and better timing that Carla? I doubt it . Why even BOTHER to bring in some kind of conventional definition of "good"? You're dealing with a highly original composer playing her own tunes, and every NOTE she plays leaves a mark - No group I've ever heard covering a Carla tune adds ANYTHING to it - rather , they often make her music sound like platitudes... No, Mr Roberto - delete the first part of your message, and go straight for the truth ! :)
From out of the 'crazed & zany' comes talent and effervescence, steeped in crushed chords, heralded by the Free Jazz movement of the 60s ! We lost Carla last year, the victim of brain cancer. Wild and crazy Carla ! And very productive too !
I regret that I never had the chance to hear Carla's band live, but at least we have these videos as testimony to her talent. And I'm eternally grateful to RUclips for the body of work we are given--that never would have turned up on DVD.
no drums, use the bass to push the tune along and have a tonal reference for the chord base so that the pianist can focus on the solo which keeps the balance much much lighter

Man, is Sheppard my favorite saxophonist in the whole world, or what?
FANTASTIC CONCERT!!!

three masters of their art
カーラブレイの音楽は、現役同時代の頃はあまり興味が無かったけど、今改めて聴いてみると中々良いですね。ドラムが無いので音楽が落ち着いて聴けます。三者の音が協調していました。
RIP Carla❤❤❤
Wow, that national anthem arrangement is so nice and complex. Great composition
RIP Carla Bley 😢
Reminds me of Senor Mouse by Chic Corea,
no drums, use the bass to push the tune along and have a tonal reference for the chord base so that the pianist can focus on the solo which keeps the balance much much lighter
T.c.30'33 C.Bley talks about peace for Rachel n I i fancy...
BD Lee...
How to make everyone hear drums when noone is playing that. Masters of time.
