  • The video I shot for my old friend, Liancheng Shen. He was born in Beijing and grew up in Beijing. He has been practicing Dachengquan for half century. Dachengquan is one kind of internal martial arts originally from Beijing, it is also named Yiquan, developed from Xingyiquan a century ago . Mr. Shen is living in Beijing in the winter time and spending most of his time practicing at his studio in Wutai Mountain.

    I studied this in the 80s under Xun Xie. These exercises may not look like much, but in a few months I became so quick that I could dodge splattering hot oil while cooking without thought or effort. I also could see the "direction" of my opponents which enabled me to knock them off balance almost effortlessly. My teacher would make me stand in these positions 20 minutes and then switch front foot to back and then another 20 minutes. After about 6 months I was clobbering karate brown belts and they had no idea what to do about it. I could see if a martial artist was any good, without having to see him practice or spar. The better the artist the wider his direction. The best artists have a 360 degree direction. This is impossible to describe what "direction" means, you have to experience it and only then can it be understood. But these exercises develop this.

      Why did you stop studying it or are you still training?

      My teacher moved away and there were no others in the US at the time. But I did continue training on my own for a number of years, until I got too busy with debt slavery and a real bitchy narcissistic wife.

      Only 20 minutes? That's usually beginner level, maybe intermediate beginner.

      You can learn in NYC at Da Cheng Dao from Master Wang Rengang. As a beginner you need to stand in standing post for one hour at a time. Practicing every day will change your life.

    Weidon Liu; Interesting video, nice settings & performance. In your opinion which school teaches Yiquan in a more efficient manner. I am just a beginner , have been practicing Zhan Zhuang for more than a year, amazing results in what pertains to health, but would like to move on to the next stage. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Yours trully

      After a while of doing some standing, found there might be some places were my awareness is lacking full roundness such as in my forearms in which I move my fingers to make sure they are engaged as well.

      @Nikolai0007 4 года назад +1

      prepare the body, heart, and mind fully, and no one will want to fight anyway (and you won't either)

      Yiquan in standing still is like a car on breaks but u let the gear come up.. in all directions and with certain characteristics , then u play with letting go the breaks. Result is energie moving, flowing back and forth, up and down open and in.. With a super hightend light yet heavy strong body like a mountain like a small agile bird animal whatever.. then all the contradictions fuse and something new comes into excistence... you will become a super human... only if u put in the hours dailly and with wholehearted sincerity... u will have the greatest achievement (da cheng quan) when developt this, u move effortless with strength of the strongest, and absorbing, nullyfying and easy redirecting anything that comes in collision with ur body. When u touch your opponent.. burning their nerve system. Note: when u achieved Da cheng quan. Start first there is no ending... And yes not everbody achieves this same with everything in life we play football dienst doesn't mean we train football like for example Ronaldo.. so put in the hours and the sincerity. 😊
