There was nothing "casual" about this performance tentgirl17. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she did it in a fantastic way...the fact that she is so relaxed that it looks like a rehearsal just tell us how in control she was.

Mari Nobre indeed! in fact, she's doing such a great job that it looks so casual. this is one of the greatest version i've been looking for since i remembered her style years ago by listening to a street recordin

    what a great singer!
listen to the sweet transition she made at 2:11...
    she's an artist, a musician.

Not long before she died of lung cancer. Less than two years. Her otherworldly mastery of vocal technique allowed her to sail thru performances until very near the end... but I can tell she was already not feel well by this performance.

Brilliant .Such amazing control of rhythm and phrasing ! .She is following Polyrhythmic branches away from the original pulse in a way that few people could manage !

Tentgirl17 I am a great fan of Ella and Sarah, however, the first time I heard Sarah sing - over 40 years ago - I knew I was listening to an extraordinary talent. Her style is unique and comparing the two legendary talents is futile. I am thankful of the talent that has passed because from each artist you hear a different rendition of a song - and not only one interpretation.

This the divine voice! Sarah Vaughan was an incredible musician, the consummate singer. I remember the album she did with another icon, Oscar Peterson, was just fantastic.RIP Sarah and Oscar. Looking forward to your turn to a better...RIGHT... world:-)

Everything vocal jazz should be is encapsulated in this performance. Wonderful. For me, the top three singers that do this tune justice are, Sarah; Ella; & Mel.

This sounds more like a rehearsal than an actual concert.

What a 'casual' attempt at a great song. For once she seems to be just relying on her fame.
Listen to Ella for a great rendition
