I hope she gets through it. This is a bad time for drugs. Not saying they were ever good, but people are dying in record numbers. I died and they were about to call it but thank God they hit me with a 4th Narcan. I been off since, but I am on Suboxone. It helps with the strong cravings, and it won't kill me.

I helped my brother get off heroin , methadone, and fetanyl. I did this by getting him the hell out of Cincinnati when that shit was running rampant around that area. A close friend of mine who we went to school with that I consider like a brother to me also struggled with addiction to that shit and meth, I supported him during his lowest points and through being there for him, even though I couldn't be there in person, my moral support eventually played a role in him quitting those drugs. Now he's trying to get his life back on track and he keeps me posted on how things are going. Even though I'm not sure if he'll read this comment, I love you Adam. I can. I detoxed in jail off methadone and fentonol. Praying for death. 14 days of the worst withdrawal I ever went thru. And that's was just the fetonol. As an addict who knows a thousand more, I realize a lot of us consider being on methadone and other replacement therapies "clean and sober" but in my humble opinion it definitely isn't. Methadone easily has more negative side effects than heroin or an other opioid and it's way harder to kick.
And I say this with absolutely no judgment. Opiates simply change the structure of your brain for the rest of your life and most people don't get off them forever. Just don't let them tell you how "clean" they are.

Like Phil, I had a pretty severe back injury in my 20's. Up to that point, I had always been very anti-pill, anti-opiate, etc. I had seen what happens when you go down that road. But I was so miserable, I started taking them anyway. I figured, I've educated myself, I know the pitfalls, I know what I'm doing. 22 years later, I'm 7 years clean from Fentanyl patches, and 2 years off of methadone . I'm a lot happier, even though I'm divorced and broke, I'm alive and not a slave. Kicking fentanyl cold turkey is the worst. You'd better be pretty fucking hard because it will break you if you're not. But it can be done. Methadone is rough to kick because it takes a long time. Fentanyl takes longer and is 10 times worse. When I was addicted to fentanyl, there was no illicit fentanyl on the street. I would sweat the patches off, run out early, and be desperate to cop something to keep me upright, as I worked full-time and had to function. Fentanyl being so strong, it took a lot of Roxicodone, Dilaudid, or even heroin to just feel ok. All in all, it's a fucking nightmare being a junkie. I managed to not get arrested, killed, or even discharged by my Dr., but I lost everything. And I'm lucky. I'm still alive and not a convicted felon. Take advice from people who have been there and don't follow our path. But, if you're like me, and have to find out on your own, it's not ever too late to reach out for help. I'm sure that like myself, Mr. Anselmo could tell you hours of horror stories about that life. But neither he, nor myself, could truly convey what you will go through. It isn't worth it. Plus, it's boring. I forget who said it, but a fairly famous jazz musician once said "It's boring as hell being a junkie. You've got to get off of that shit to see just what a crazy motherfucker you really are!" We have a lot of fire inside of us, but hard drugs just smother it. It doesn't make you a better musician, a wiser person, or improve your life in any way. In fact, I was atounded at how much my musical ability exploded after getting clean. I was sure I couldn't play guitar anymore without a skin full of opiates. I was wrong. And, my back pain is better managed with ibuprofen, than fentanyl. Go figure.

@@humanipulationnation LARGE doses of Immodium. I had a heroin dependency for most of my adult life. Nearly 30 years. And I was one of the special breed of sorry sacks of shit who never stopped using the street shit when I got on methadone so I piggybacked the junk on top of the juice for 11 years. VERY EXPENSIVE - so I spent many consecutive days a week waaay undermedicated OFTEN. To get through those periods with some semblance of comfort I would take 32 immodium tablets in the morning, 12 tablets at 2:30pm and 18 tablets before going to bed. Yes, I could sleep through the night. Every night for several days following that same immodium dosing. I relied on this scheme for years when I couldn't get the street shit and I was out of methadone. Use the generic tiny tablets and NOT the brand name gel caps. Drink lots of water. Of course any Benzos will really help you get through dope sickness and nothing is better than Phenobarbital but I don't know if they even make that stuff anymore. I'm sure there's plenty of info online about the immodium remedy. I wouldn't go by my dosages - you need to figure out the least amount that works for you but I'm telling you I got through HUNDREDS of days and nights using nothing but immodium when I normally used 180mgs of methadone and 20+ bags of junk a day. I could get through 5 consecutive days of withdrawal comfortably using large immodium doses. Sleep EVERY night.

I’ve been on Methadone for five years and it helps you get somewhat of a normal life (you start out having to go to a clinic every morning that’s why they call it “liquid handcuffs.”) I was finally tapering off then two years I got diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer (at only 35, part of which I blame on methadone because it causes the WORST constipation. It’s so strong that oxy doesn’t do anything to me, dilaudid doesn’t do anything, so they just prescribe me methadone pills for the pain (which is much more convenient only having to go to the pharmacy once per month opposed to a clinic 45 minutes away every morning.). But I’ll be honest, I have a lot of anxieties about if I can beat this thing, financial insecurities, whether or not I’ll be able to get back to work, and worst of all, going through the 1-3 months of methadone withdrawal. It’s actually so much easier to cold turkey quit heroin. It’s painful but after a week you’re fine. Staying off is the hard part.

I beat a 2 pack a day, 15 year cigarette addiction .. I beat a 4 fifths a week binge drinking addiction... I beat porn addiction... I beat binge eating food addiction and lost almost 100 pounds... I beat a HEAVY Marijuana addiction... energy drink addictions and I also stopped using all other drugs and even chasing women and partying etc.... BUT
I'll tell you what. I've been on opiate pain killers for 8 years now and those damn things make all that other stuff child's play. I could quit all of those at the same time every week compared to quitting even 1 of these pills less a week. They are literally satan himself. It takes everything in me just to barely hold on to not taking more and more and maintain the amount I take.
Never start is the only advice. Never get a refill, never take anything outside of the hospital etc. Sure if you're in surgery or jn an accident let them inject you with something but tell them no fentanyl .. but no RX etc.

The anxiety of not getting your next fix, is pure hell. The not knowing if you'll even get it or not. I had the same issue with Weed. Anytime I was without it, pure panic attacks. Took a while to get out fo that loop, its different for everybody, for me it was that dang plant. It could all be solved if it was federally legalized.

I’m thankful for methadone. I followed my doctors and pharmacists’ directions unquestionably. Of course it wasn’t pleasant coming off it, but at least its a consistent, regulated drug you can use to slowly withdrawl from heroine. These are the consequences for our choices. Nothing is easy.

Addiction sucks, no matter what it is. Alcohol absolutely punished me. There is no worst drug in the world. Alcohol ravaged my mind and body and sent me to the ER over 2 dozen times. To say that heroine or methadone or anything else is worse than the other is subjective.
    Alcohol works the same

As someone who is currently trapped using pain killers for chronic pain, the worst part for me is that they don't even get me high anymore. (Yes, I abused them also to get high). It's the horrific sickness of trying to get off them. I try to rid myself of them but the withdrawals make me unbelievably sick I just do not posses the fortitude and will power to ride that sickness through. So I take the drugs and it all goes away, but the drugs themselves make my brain turn to mush and I barely function. Shout out to everyone battling this evil. 'Quitting' is no where near as easy as people think. You can even suffer withdrawals from anti depressants like mirtazapine, benzos etc. I've lost so much weight from it and feel weak as hell all the time. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone even wants to chat to me about their own pain, please leave a reply. I feel like I have ruined my body and soul and life and I'm 37.

@@commisargamerson1666 thanks for the in depth reply man, I really appreciate it. I used to be very fit and athletic until I was about 27. I've actually been thinking about working out again, but what I have (life long depression) creates a complete and utter lack of vitality. I also have a heart condition so you can imagine how stupid it is I have become a drug addict. I'm terrible at explaining myself, but It's like a don't give a damn about anything anymore. It sounds like I'm making excuses I know, but I'm just being honest. I think I used drugs as a crutch as well to feel better and just slip away from it all.
Exercise is a good idea, but even when I was a fit young man and healthy I was still experiencing crushing depression that I could never shake off. A demon that followed me wherever I went. If I'm brutally honest, its my life circumstances and many other things I won't get into as I don't want it to sound like woe is me. I could benefit from true real life friends who never ghosted on me, same with family etc. Anyway, I appreciate your input dude.

Use kratom to come down, it will ease the withdrawal by helping you not feel so sick and unmotivated. Be sure to not get too used to the kratom but trust me it will help you break that hold

Mirtazapine is the biggest lie on the list of antidepressants lost my mind and destroyed so much trying to get off it. In and out of the psych ward several times. You're talking about it so you have a good head on your shoulders. That might seem like a little thing but it means you're there and you're sane. You're not fighting for nothing. Keep going forward.

I have detoxed from all sorts of opiates, but methadone was the most horrendous detox I have ever been through. I made it to almost 3 months before I couldn't take it anymore and that day I was at a dentist appointment and had a cracked tooth that required surgery and 2 weeks of antibiotics. The dentist was super generous with the percocet 10mg pills. He gave me 240 of them to get me through the month wait for an oral surgeon. I wiped them out in 2 weeks and the cycle started all over again. That was in 2005. I had been on painkillers for a year at that time. That relapse began the fight of my life and lasted until 4-20-2017. I am 5 years sober now and done with that life. Good job Phil. Can't wait to see you on tour with Pantera 2023!

Ya it's a battle I used for years opiates and vodka it's wired how I stopped drinking I tired everything to stop but a year ago I just stopped drinking no reason I couldnt walk past a liquor store with out buying a bottle for 20 plus years and I was drunk everyday but the heroin and fent I've dropped probably 20 times and kept using I finally stopped 6 months ago I slowly got off it addiction is a one of a kind monster I reget wasting half my life away but today I think all the years of struggling with it made me into better all-around man if your struggling just don't give up your worth the effort I've made every mistake in life but I've never gave up on myself and I can relate bigtime when Phil talks about getting off dope and alcohol is a nasty detox to never want to do that again the trama your Brian and body go through when you go cold turkey

  • @chriswalton3383
    @chriswalton3383 2 года назад +1

Anyone who hasn't been through detox, methadone, Suboxone etc, have no idea of the pain someone goes through detoxing. He's speaking the truth. I'm a recovering addict and i've been through it all with detoxing and I can say it's the worst mistake of my life after smoking. Methadone withdrawal is probably worse than heroin withdrawal, for me it is. All props to Phil for doing it. It's not as easy as getting off methadone and you never use again, but you know how the drug feels and it can take all the pain away. It becomes a life struggle, and it will never go away. Anyone seeing this thinking about it. Don't, you'll.lose everything you have. Everything material and all of your family.

Listen I feel you Phil. I'm weaning myself off Suboxone and let me tell you heroin was easier to get off of. I was two weeks in and felt like I wanted to die. It was like the flu x30 with body aches, mood swings, sleepless nights for weeks, cold sweat, hot flashes, the feeling of coming out of your own skin. Anxiety is fucking horrible. I lasted 2 weeks cold turkey but I literally got right back on them. This time I'm weaning myself off. I know Methadone and Suboxone are a lot alike. Fucking God awful.
