Tony era X is overlooked and it is quite a shame. They were some good tunes written. "See how we are" is a great record and Hey Zeus has some good moments too.
While the Billy Zoom lineup is my favorite, I agree that Tony era X was terrific in it's own right. Live at the Whiskey is still in my rotation, as are See How We Are and Hey Zeus.
As an aside to this, it looks like Steve Turre sat in with Jay Leno's band that night. I remember seeing an episode of SNL (some season/episode during the mid-to-late-90's) where he sat in with the Saturday Night Live Band and for whatever reason, him playing that conch shell really stuck with me. As a matter of fact, which ever song they're jamming on here was definitely the exact same song they played during one of the SNL commercial bumpers: that is an unmistakable conch shell riff (first and last time you'll probably ever hear anyone say that).
@@whatsforafters7843 Nah it was definitely SNL; not Night Music. I just went and Googled it and as it turns out, Steve Turre has been a member of the Saturday Night Live Band since '84. I didn't even realize this whatsoever; I've only ever seen him whip out the conchs just once in all the years I've tuned in. Now what's up with that? Sounds to me like he's being held back artistically, am I right or what. Anyway, thanks for the other link; cool video nonetheless. I love me some Night Music.
Cool! Didn't know that Turre was part of the house band for SNL, either, but now that you mention it, I seem to recall seeing him play that conch just before a commercial break at one point. Glad you enjoyed the extra footage, too :)

Yea he is as good as Billy

So appropriate after last week. Exene very animated & rockin the solid groove of DJ, John, & Antonio G. Love ya Tony. 👍
LOVE this song!!!Loved it then & I still love it! It could be re-released right now. It seems to speak of the current political climate.
F- n A!
I ADORE Exene's "off" yet somehow perfect harmony on this song. It's really brilliant. LOVE this band. What a great, underrated album.
Tony is on fire
omg! great performance footage of tony at his best, thanx 4 posting!!!
punkrockfeller, Happy to see you enjoyed the clip so much. I appreciate the note of thanks, too!
So few clips of this time for X, great to see it! ThanX for posting! My very favorite band, no matter who played guitar.
its not Billy Zoom
I have a big X logo tattooed on the back of my hand. That's how much this band has meant to me for over 40 years
Hey Zeus is a hell of an album...
Saw this tour when they came through Toronto, still have the shirt somewhere. It was a great show.
The guitarist took Bird's advice. His solo tells a story.
Have this EP ,appropriate for the times ..

Harmonies at war lol. Really though I wonder if it's intentional.
Intentional. That’s their sound and it’s great
No Billy no X.
Incorrect. No John, No Exene, No X.
That harmony...dis-harmony?
If you know anything about X that is their style of vocals
