Probably one of the best Cocteau Twins ever - the bass line is gorgeous, the chord changes so artistically complex, vocals shifting between moods like poetry, just pure genius.

this always reminds me of driving home from london to hereford there music kept me sane from all the driving i do , being a travelling salesman and staying away all week it was the only thing from stopping me going mad ,there music always relaxes me ,im sure shum she sings " in scotland and escosse " in this whatever it sounds so wonderful what a b side again another great video from a legend.

Seriously wish I found lyrics that kind of made sense for this song, though I'm usually satisfied to believe Liz is simply singing from her soul. I've read some lyrics that she's singing about a "Damion," but it doesn't make sense to me. Thanks so much for putting this on here with fanastic visuals.
I have in interesting, and maybe important observation. First thing I thought when heard this work was "Wow, such an expression of Joy." I immediately thought might be in D major. Which to me is the Happy Key. Seems like the color orange, to me. (There is a comedy film called This is Spinal Tap where the metal head sits at the piano and explains how D-minor is the "Saddest of all keys. Makes people weep instantly." Yet, conversely, I found that the happiest songs are in D. (even Hayden's "Sunrise Symphony" in in D). That being said, I went and checked on the piano, and I found that the song is actually in E major. Which to me is the most spiritual and illuminating key. The key of awareness and consciousness. Light of Christ. I see the E-note as yellow in color, and a perfect triangle. // BUT, back to the song, "Smile." Very interestingly, i kept playing thru the song on the piano, and i realized that it actually actually MODULATES into D-major at he chorus. It just sort of jumps in. So, in effect, the song really is about is about joy, (D major). But in this case, a joy that stemmed from an awakening (E-major).
