    This takes me back, my grandpa had an 86 d150 with the 318 in red and silver and saddle blanket bench seats, those were good memories...

    For everyone's information. Some parts on this model truck at Some auto parts stores are found under the years of 1984 through 86 if you cannot find them under the 1987 model year.

    nice to see a few old Dodge trucks still solid and beautiful. Most of them were rusted out to the ground in 10 to 12 years. I know I had a '77 Power Wagon I bought brand new that went to the junkyard in 1990 with 66,000 miles on it. Cab rusted right off the frame 2 years after the box did...And that was after 1 total restoration. Actually was looking to buy another oldie for a daily driver just last year because I just loved the simplicity of those old trucks. But i was just too afraid of spending 5 to 10 grand for a cherry old Dodge knowing it would be eaten alive (if it wasn't already hiding some)in a few years here in NY so I bought a new RAM with a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. Yeah it cost over 3 times as much but I know it will still be driveable in 20 years. I have owned 13 Dodge or RAM trucks in my life. 11 of them all pre 2010 with the "Dodge" label still on them were basically rust buckets or well started when I sold or traded them. The 2 newer RAM brand show no signs but my newest is too new. But by the looks at the number of RAM trucks out there i see no evidence of the past "rustbucketness" of the brand. Seems like they finally got it right. Oh and yes I did/do take very good care of them all...i still have the very first car I ever bought 1970 Plymouth Barracuda so you can't come at me with that excuse.

      wally walton I noticed that as well that the Dodge trucks from 2008 and down seemed to rust out. Which was very disappointing being a mopar guy. I was scared to buy a newer dodge truck because of that. Like you said, as far as the newer ones (09 and up) I don't see signs of rust on the last gen of dodge trucks. My biggest gripe with dodge/ram trucks is that they make to many short beds and not enough long beds. Also the back doors are to short. The all new 2019s look to have the longer doors on the back though, bigger cabs which I like even though the beds are still short on most of them.

      @@blah9664 you must rust proof these trucks real good. Ziebart makes a excellent rustproofing compound that's that old style, black tar, gooey, Sandy mix that works excellent. They spray it on

    Has anyone ever changed a standard steering column to a tilt steering column in this model dodge truck. How difficult was it. Thanks

    • @snizzytown5217
      @snizzytown5217 4 года назад

      Not very hard

    • @VanishingPoint
      @VanishingPoint 3 года назад

      Get a tilt column from the year closest to yours and it fits right in. You might need to get a steering shaft as some with tilt are shorter then the non tilt column. I put tilt from 84 ramcharger in my 87 W150 and had to buy a adjustable steering shaft.

    I have an 87 dodge like this one. Its pretty beaten up. Did u rebuild it? Or was it handed down to you? And if u rebuilt it how do u go on doing that cuz mine is horribly beaten up and i would absolutly love to know how to fix it.
    Edit- also i have no idea what a car needs. Or antthing about cars. Probably not the best fit but i want to try it out

    If you do not want these trucks to turn into a rust-bucket especially on the underneath side you must Ziebart them

      @@TrashPanda5150 I also have a 1987 Dodge w150 Le power Ram short bed truck. I have the power windows and the power door locks and the factory Chrome pieces on the outside and the Black rectangular door guards. Graphic red on the outside,red inside with cloth interior. the only options i do not have are the 360 engine, I have the LA 318 cu. 2 barrel engine, tilt steering and cruise control. The only option I wish I had that was not offered till 1988 is fuel injection, it is much better for winter time starts.
