- Vent free propane or natural gas heaters are great options for heating a greenhouse. These heaters are super reliable, and they DO NOT USE ELECTRICITY!! So, during an ice storm or other power outage they continue to heat! However, they do need a yearly cleaning to keep them running properly. This video breaks that down.
Want to say Thank You very much. My heater would not stay lit, I went on RUclips and watched your video and now its new again. Thank you for your time. 😊
3 cold weeks with a new system only 2 months old. This video got my pilot to stay lit when I had tried everything else. Thanks bro!
Life saver!! Well made video,, great instructions and word usage. I'm completely satisfied and comfortable to go to sleep at night now. Thank you. Happy gardening!
What a great video! Mine was starting to turn off. I took it apart and cleaned it all up and it's up and running great!!! Thank you, your video saved me a couple hundred dollars doing a service call!
Great!!
@@triggerMB My pilot lites up and when I turn the flame up both pilot and flame goes out. What causes that problem?
Does the pilot light stay lit when you release the button?
@@triggerMB , Yes, it's only when I turn the flame up then both pilot and flame go out. Wonder if it's getting enough propane...my hose is outside bitter cold hooked to 100lb tank.
@@cathyrenick8562 I am having the same problem at this moment. My heater is ng and lp . running it in ng right now and turns on for a two mins and then shuts off. The house is literally 55 degrees right now.
Like someone else said, this just saved me from tossing mine and buying a new one. Thank you so very much for sharing this.
Glad I found you I didn’t have clue how to get in there to clean I was look to take the front screen off. I having purchase a new couple to replace it the pilot flame doesn’t even reach that. I compared with another heater. Thank you for the video
Thanks for the video brother. You saved me some money for sure. I could not have done this without you.
Great to hear!
Thanks for the video. I just bought mine and was having issues with the pilot light and was trying all kinds of things I actually wiped my finger on the thermocoupler before seeing this and all of a sudden stayed lit then I saw this and one other video talking about it being clean. No one else is talking about that part. Saved me some frustration thank you.
Mine just started to cut out at night, have had it a few years but never cleaned it, will take care of that tomorrow. THANKS!!!!!!!
Thanks for showing a close-up demonstration. Cleaning the turbo coupler withl the steel wool work for me.
Thank you so much for your video, after the 2 try and without taking parts a loose. Heater stay on - I did it all by myself. Couldn’t get a professional person to help me. One told me they would charge me arm and leg. Go buy a new one. Thank again for video😊
Happy to hear that!!
What a great idea to use these in my greenhouse! Seems like a no brainer, but I've only used these in my house and didn't know if I could trust them in the greenhouse. Thank you for that assurance..😊 Also, needed the info on cleaning it cause mine is acting up this year.🤦♀️ I'm fairly certain NOW that it's lack of cleaning on my part! Appreciate ya....Thanks!
I also have a Mr Heater BTU heater in my greenhouse. The pilot has now gone out 3 out of the last 5 days. Woke up to my greenhouse temps in the low 30's. Yesterday I blew very low (35 psi) compressed air thru the air port in the gas line per the owners manual. Woke up again today to a non- lit heater. Will perform the thermocouple maintenance you're reccomending today This is our first year with the greenhouse. And also this heater. I am contemplating switching to electric heat and using the gas only as a back up. Thanks and i subscribed. Im in zone 8B.
Thank you! I have been looking all over for a video like this!
Thank you!
Thanks heaps for this, saved us a ton of money. I followed your directions and fixed my heater.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the video! I'm told the thermocouple I need isnt made anymore so I'm gonna try this. I really hope it works.!!
Thank you for your time demonstration and information
I always thought you needed to blow out the dirt with air compressor? Is what my maintenance guy does, this is great I can use a vacuum. I’m tired of paying top price for someone to come out and clean it. Thank you for this video!!!
Thank you so much, just got my heater started 🎉🎉
Got up the last two mornings my heat was off, going back home in a couple hours to see if I can get mine running.
Excellent video my man! Use one of these to heat my RV trailer that I currently live In takes the brunt off the houseeater and uses wayless propane Been getting some yellow flames lately and it's been acting up thanks for the tip. ✌️✌️
Thank you!
Wonderful video. Informative and straightforward. Thank you so very much!
Thanks for the tip! I currently use one of these to heat a mobile home on our vacation property. I cleaned everything out with compressed air but didn't know about this. Should have thought of it with my experience with Mosquito Magnets.
Thank you!
@@triggerMB I finally got rid of it. I replaced it with a Mr. Cool mini-split, 18k unit. Heat and AC and doing it myself I saved thousands of dollars.
This replaced an older wall unit that failed. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQDiHf0Cagl2e3YNPX-bWnDMXQAL2A2Y8 The grill on the front is nice, the old unit did not have one, just the glass. Much more kid/dog friendly. Best feature is the battery operated igniter..... old one had the plunger type, which was quirky. This one fires right up with just a touch of the button. Takes the chill off a room very quickly, seems to put out more heat that the one that was there, even though they were the same BTUs. Very impressed.... so much so I bought a second one to replace the other old one even though it still works!
I love early mornings to watch the sunrise! This little thing has a great heat output ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAvrAfikbUEMthp3AZ6iX5FKdiHfzy_RP . I sit in my rocker, warm, and watch the sunrise! It's great for travel as well. Just stow and go. Love this thing! For hunters, I've heard that they also make a little hood so that it focuses the heat a bit more if you have to sit further away. Just a heads up. It's so easy and quick to set up and get going.
It worked out for me by doing that - thank you buddy !!!
Thanks for the insight. Only thing I would've done differently was to vacuum up all the crud on the bottom. Other than that bravo zulu!
Thank you so much for taking time to make this video. 🙏
Thank you worked on my heater also. Appreciate it!
Good video!! I have one of those and my ignighter wont work , dont have the gas hooked up just wanted to see if the ignighter would click and it does not, will it click without the gas on?
Yes, the igniter should work even if the gas is not connected.
@@triggerMB Thanks, thats what I kinda figured , so is my igniter bad or needs cleaning?
Some of the igniters take a AA battery. Try to unscrew the ring that goes around the igniter button. @maxximum18
@@triggerMB yep changed that already with a fresh one .. no dice
Thank you for sharing, I appreciate you.
Worked for mine👍 thanks for the video
Great tutorial! Thank you for the help.
Thank you!!
where do those 2 wires up top in the middle connect to
very well done. thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been searching for over a week on how to clean the pilot properly. The manual said where to clean but not how to get behind the glass. My question to you is though do you need more than one person to replace the front of the heater? Do you believe it's something I can do alone? I do rely on this heater. Thank you!
At 1:50 on video it shows the screws on the side of heater. After removing those the front of heater will come off. 1 person can handle it.
I've done what you suggest ign and then tried to light fire with bic lighter it catches blue flame then snuffs out I'm 72 can't find a battery on ign button but thank you all❤
Video starts at 1:37, if your mechanically inclined. if not the needed safety stuff is in front so you should listen to that.
What causes a very unsteady flame and then shutdown
Ty so much I’m a woman an need my heat ASAP
It wouldn’t start so I’m going to clean it now
Thank you! Just saved me from buying a new heater
Thank you so much your a lifesaver
brand new heater like this for greenhouse. Checked all troubleshooting recomendations. Still shuts off at night only. Right in the middle of a cold snap. No other option but to buy a new one. My poor plants.
Are you providing plenty of fresh air? They are designed to cut off if oxygen levels get low, which can happen in a tightly closed room.
Hi, was wondering, want to purchase this one, looking to buy a 300 gallon propane tank, will this heater have the access to be able to connect to one , tia
What causes a heater to only shuts off in a low setting when it’s on high it stays running
Disassemble the pilot assembly and Clean/vacuum out orifice. Also throughly clean burner tube. I would start there-after turning off gas 1st of course.
Thank you! Good video.
I just watched a video about installing one of these, and the video showed on top as the intensity of the heat goes that there are numbers 1-5 on the top. Now, I had watched a video about the same unit, or I think it was the same unit, "Mr. Heater" wall heater that YOU had made and I THOUGHT you said it had a dial that you could set by temperature you desired. My question is, does YOURS have that temperature dial? Or is it also one that you choose a number 1-5 to determine the temperature the heater would turn off at once it attained that specific temperature? If it is just a number you choose 1-5, there would have to be a way to pick which number will get the heater to a specific tempo before shutting off.
Julia, the dial does show 1 through 5. I set mine on 1, to keep the temperature at 50f. The dial does not show temperature. You just have to raise or lower it ontil the temperature is where you want it. Hope this answers your question.
I have a question on your heater. Are you using the radiant or the blue flame Mr. Heater?
Thanx a bunch brother!!
What wrong with my new propane heater- it runs a few hours and shuts off- could it be something at the gas tank?
Is it in a small enclosed space? The problem could be low oxygen. They are made where they will shut off for safety purposes.
At the pilot, there is a small hole in the side of the tube that pulls air thru it that collects dust, and can become blocked by fuzz or lint, and if blocked the fuel mix is too rich and the pilot will not burn. ALWAYS check and clean the hole!
Can it be 000 steel wool?
Yes
@@triggerMB Thank you. I cleaned it in my greenhouse last night. I knew a reddish glowing tip meant it had something on it, but I wanted to make sure. I used 000 and it was back to normal. It has been the best heater for me, once I figured out the ventilation part -you know, making sure it gets enough oxygen.
I have this exact heater. When I have it on setting 1 it gets pretty warm in my ice shack. For some reason it is not cycling off to pilot once a certain temps hits. Any idea why this might not be happening? For the record I am going to do exactly what you did in this video later today.
Anthony, did you get it figured out?
thank you!
What is the name of that heater and where can I buy one. I love your videos about Angel Trumpet plants. I don’t have one and now want to buy a few. Do you have a website where you sell them? Thanks 🙏
This is a Mr Heater vent free garage heater. I bought this one at Northern Tool. But Most big box hardware stores sell them. Our website is Www.angeltrumpetnursery.com We specialize in Angel Trumpets(Brugmansia).
Thank you. Do you sell the trumpet flower plants?
You can also buy Mr Heater from Amazon. I suggest that you find out what you need for connecting your heater and how to connect your heater, if you want natural gas heater or propane.
@@Clairsadventures yes. Our website is Www.angeltrumpetnursery.com
Thanks a lot this works great
Mine lites but wont stay lit
Thank you
Thank you dude you just saved me 400$ good shit to know
Thank you 🙏🏾!!
Thanks man!!!!!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!
Thanks!!!!!
Why does the heat sometimes burn your eyes
That doesn't sound right?? Sounds like something is wrong, possibly incomplete combustion??
When I have my heater on and I'm am like 6 feet away from it. Their is a lengering odor that I smell in the room what can be causing it?
What does it smell like?
@@triggerMB I don't know how to explain it its not a stong smell tho like kinda like fumes but not a gas leak
@@stik_mane are you sure heater is set up for what fuel you are burning? Propane or natural gas need to be set up differently.
@@triggerMB yeah its a propane heater and it's set up right
Does anyone have orange flame because of this?
A correct burning flame should be mostly blue. Orange would indicate incomplete combustion. The tube the flame comes out of is probably partially clogged. Turn off gas. Vacuum the area the flame was at. After relighting flame should be mostly blue.
the back flame should be mostly blue? not the pilot light?
Mine won't light shit it's a snow storm
It won't light when you press button in?
Thank you
