  • So here's my current setup utilizing a 16 kw Chinese diesel engine block preheater.
This whole idea came about after the -14 degrees lows we were having last winter and the smaller 5kw heater not being able to warm the cabin up fast enough after work.
this system is able to warm the place up much faster and is far more convenient with the addition of a smart thermostat which i can switch on an hour before returning home.
the fuel usage isnt that much either.

This video is a unicorn. You are the only one I can find using this heater design. Jeeze, sounds like a jet engine getting ready for take off. Thanks!

Would it not of just been easier to install a conventional central heating boiler ???? 😊

you must be losing half the heat generated by not insulating the pipes underneath.

For the birds. They can sit on it without freezing their feet stuck.

Very noisy and a shambolic installation .....but if it saves money . A CH combi boiler has ironed out all the issues but for backyatd engineering and cost saving I can see your hearts in the right place .what with solar and the death trap battery bank this is British man in a shed territory and nothing much to be ashamed of. ...

insulate your pipes mate.. i would say you can save 30% diesel minimum.. your fresh generated heat is immediately wasted

Cpuld you not fit a standard CH pump? Bring the noise down. And exhaust heat recovery?

i could have just fitted an oil fired boiler, would have been nearly silent and way more efficient but couldn't find a second hand one for a reasonable price.
the main source of noise is the combustion fan. the pump itself is very quiet

Nice, been thinking of doing this also.
'Normal' oil burners for CH are so expensive !
Ive been wondering if I can use a normal air diesel heater, and see if I can mod. it to heat up water.
Maybe with the use of an air to water heat exchanger, it shouldn't be that difficult or expensive to do.

yeah that could work blowing through a small radiator. you could try and utilize the exhaust waste heat too

Yeah that would work I was chilling with James in his cabin and we thought about that.,,............... hopefully we can convince him to do it
