Great way to break out the bluegrass chop cliche! 3 string chords open you up to a whole different world of rhythm playing. Don’t be afraid to eliminate the tonic note for an even jazzier sound.
You're right Jack. This is the tip of an iceberg. I hope to follow up soon but just have to many ideas for videos......
Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely! I appreciate the comment.
Great Video Wayne. I need more work on rhythm and chop. Anything you put out on that will definitely be helpful. Thanks.
More to come!
AWESOME!!
You sure are a good teacher!
Your my favorite teacher now. I just finaggled my way into sounding like I can play . Thanks good sir.. you brought me out of a stump. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Thx Katina! That makes me feel great and I'm glad to hear that you've had a breakthrough.
This lesson was gold! My guitar player will be so happy to know I’m working on this.. haha. I’ve been killin him when I’m trying to play rhythm for him. Ha.. Thank you fine sir for this lesson!
Thx for the comment Bud! Just knowing that one person responds to a video as you did makes it more than worth the effort to have created it.
What is the beautiful music in the intro?
Excellent ideas, as always!
Thx Andy. Hope you find some great tunes to apply these ideas. Good luck.....
What a cool video. Rhythm mandolin is my favorite part of bluegrass, period.
👍
i like your teaching ; and playing !!!!
Thx Ronnie. I appreciate the support and the comment.....
Cool stuff there, Wayne. An alternative fingering is using 3rd, ring and pinky for some of them for even less movement, IME. Cheers!
👍
Awesome Wayne!
Thank you kindly!
Wayne again a totally awesome video! I have been looking for ways to play the 7ths of all my major chords. Thanks for this!
Sounds like you had a breakthrough Kevin. Keep it up pal. Good luck.....
great new haircut Wayne!
I get a haircut every three months if I need it or not.....
Good stuff. The soloing ideas are very solid and useful for bluesy tunes of all sorts.
FYI - the soloing starts at the 6:00 minute mark
😊
Where can I get a nice strap like you're using in this video?
Your videos are very helpful to me. However, the camera angle is a little bit too high for me to clearly see the finger placements. If you brought it down a few degrees, it would be easier. But back to thanks - the content and instruction are really useful.
Thx for the comment Stephen. I try to keep the camera angle consistent but it fluctuates from video to video. ALL of this content has been created on a Samsung Galaxy 10 cell phone and the way it connects to my tripod leaves a little to be desired....
Would have liked if you demonstrated the rhythm more
Stay tuned...
