Agree with everything you said brother! I will go and hang out in Rushock Bog just for the ambience, the fiddle music combined with ambient swamp noises is just so relaxing! I will play LOTRO until the servers shut down or I shut down!
One thing about Lotro that maybe you may have to be a fan of the original material to care about is that before the game came out in 2007 they literally went through the books line by line and put everything that was ever mentioned, and anything that was implied in there. They put in everything in the maps, and everything from the appendices. I mentioned before that in the books Gandalf arrives on Weathertop several days before and left some subtle, almost unrecognizable marks on the bottom of a rock he hoped Aragorn might find if he and the hobbits came that way, and you too can find them if you look for them. You can find the place on the side of the hill where they camped that night - nice crispy bacon anyone? But everything from the layout of the Prancing Pony, to where Bill Ferny’s house is, to the kind of outer city wall Bree has, and its dry moat. You of COURSE can find a major thing like the chamber of Mazarbul in Moria, but you can also find the doorway Gandalf’s initial interaction the the Balrog blew up, and why that saved them forcing the Orcs to go a long, long way around to catch up with them. You can find the crossroads they camped at days before and the well Pippen dropped the stone in. If you are stupid enough jump down that well and somehow survive you will even end up in another place mentioned in the books, and maybe get an idea of just what Pippen disturbed. Want to visit Gollum’s cave from the Hobbit? Check! As you play through your journey you will run into all the character from the books, but more often you will just run into ALL the details from the books as indications you are in that exact spot, and sometimes evidenced of the events in the books having just occurred days before. The VAST majority of these thing are not part of any quest. They are there for you to discover or ignore to you own personal taste. You kind of weave in and out of their story, but sometimes like with the passage of the Grey Company you will become a PART of the original story that was never fleshed out. Did the sometimes have go over the top in order to satisfy the requirement of an actual MMO - sure. But it pretty hard to imagine a random MMO with a hastily sketched in background lore having the same effect, or based on recent examples, another reproduction of a loved franchise that was reproduced so lovingly, even obsessively by any group of people today.
Also, the constellations in LOTRO are directly from the writings of Tolkien. Your character can look up into the night sky and see the constellations mentioned in the numerous books. That is great attention to detail, and love of the lore.
What i love about this game is the absolute attention to detail. In the books there is one single short mention(just one) of the Three farthing stone of the shire being in the middle of the country...guess where it is in the game? Right where it should be.
I swear, older games have better game design. And this is coming from someone who beats all mythic raids in WoW and savage in FF14. With one exception, BDO. FF11 had really good world design that you actually felt danger walking around. BDO (Black Desert Online), also has crazy world design and its huge. FF14 and WoW world design always felt empty to me.
Not to complain about the current graphic's but I would like to see them updated, would it hurt to see them rendered to the new standards and how incredible would that be. As long as SSG are making money on the old Graphic's they they have no incentive to update.
I hear talks about changing the lag/dungeon issues... for most than 10 years ago and the crap is still the same. We vets stay for the music, the skies and the water streams, and the story. Other than that, the game is a complete crap.
DeployableLover are you a real person who has a penance of will to be in the world of Middle Earth? I've said this before, the meat inside is the graphics, real pure premium meat. I prefer meat, but the essence of your soul is the wisdom within the meat. How is it that we are in 2024 but the meat is so tender? Is it because you did not realize the sudden shift in the perception of the meat? I think you are onto something Deployable though, the meat is within. I think the graphics are of a calibre that we see with our eyes. It's a visual thing. You understand right? Deployable, I hope you are real and understand the meat of it. Do you agree with me??
I wonder how much money is Lotro paying for a lot of channels to speak great about their game. I'm a Lotro vet, and the game is so lacking. It's a single-player game with hints of a mmo. You cant find people to play low level dungeons because there's no tools good enough for that. You go hours without seeing a single player around and the quests are boring. Ever done Minas Tirith without the paid teleports? I did... won't do again, EVER! Still, it's a nice game for chill out on a Tolkien world if you're not married and have nothing better to do or cooler games to play.
@@duartecorreia8602 I can put your mind at rest by saying they are paying me nothing. In this space I simply share my enjoyments of the games whilst I do also acknowledge its downfalls. I haven’t been playing as long as “vets” so to speak but long enough to know what draws me and pushes me away. If you are not happy with the game or do not wish to see videos relating to it then simply don’t watch ☺️ Appreciate your insight into what troubles you about the game however.
We see "New Content Creators/Streamers" pop up frequently especially at key updates or additions like with the Legendary Servers Angmar & Mordor during August + Sept 2024. There has been more LOTRO Videos & Streams happening but people just "assume" that the Developers are paying people for such.

Excellent video! One of Lotro's strongest points is certainly the worldbuilding and landscape.
Keep up the good work, dude! You even look like a Lotro character (in a very good way).
