I expected it to be something like what Ahrefs wants to achieve with Yep, being a search engine that shared ad revenue with content creators somehow. Apparently it isn’t and it’s more like a way for Google to make money again. 😉
The service fee is only 5%, so not much more than a card processing fee. For a system that will manage the billing and subscription access, with no login required if the user is already logged into their Google account, plus your content being featured in the news feeds of your subscribers, I think that's a pretty darn good deal. Granted, I'm a little biased, I have a plugin developed for putting Subscribe with Google on WordPress sites, but that's because I feel this is a good thing :)
