    Oh my! Thank goodness for for you ladies. I’ve always been told to iron the seams to the dark side. I did that on my very first quilt and I had so much trouble ‘nesting’ the seams. Since then I have always ironed my seams open and my quilts turn out just beautiful. Absolutely no difference in look but so much easier. Thank you for your tutorials and advice. I am simply addicted to 3 yard quilts although I purchase my fabric by the metre which is good because it gives me a bit more wriggle room if needed. 🤗

    Oh, oh, oh, you give me so much inspiration. Awesome as always. I love when you add the cropping tool because I don't always see the blocks. Thank you, ladies.

    Nine plus One - Just finished this for a friend - her first great-grandbaby. It's a boy and had an old kit that I had purchased from Fabric Cafe. I made it for this upcoming baby. Grandmother picked out the fabric and figured that it would be so fitting for a little boy. Hopefully he will love his trucks and construction toys. I tried to attach the photo but it won't let me. Believe me - it is so cute.

    Love the nine patch with the pumpkins. Looks like and Irish chain. When I first started quilting 30 years ago I cut out all my pieces one at a time with scissors. No rotary cutters or strip piecing. So glad we have techniques now that make it easier and faster to cut out. Have a great day!

    I just made a quilt for a charity donation with your Evergreen tree pattern & it came out beautifully. It was so easy…Thank You. I didn’t use Christmas fabrics so it can be used all year. I’m sure I’ll use the other patterns in that book. 💕🧵🌲

    Love your three yd quilts. Till you called attention to the fact that many of the patterns are simply 9 patch blocks, I never looked at them that way. Thank you. I don’t believe I will be so intimidated by some of your patterns in the future.

    Thank you for using that word some quilters nowadays dint use - PINS! I am a pinner (started way back in the hand piecing days!) and I still use pins! So many quilt videos never use pins and it scares the stuffing out of me not to do that! Pinning at corners, intersections and maybe other places to me seems to be something that new quilters really need to think about.

    You two are very inspirational. Love the fabric choices today. I've tried pressing seams open, especially with your patterns, but have a problem with the stitches coming out when I sew blocks together and when the border is sewn on. I tried using 1.5 stitch length but it didn't seem to help. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

      Hi Mimi, try using a spray stabilizer, like Mary Ellen's Best Press. Check out this pressing video on the Fabric Cafe channel. Where we share pressing tips. ruclips.net/video/opLBvy3Jm0A/видео.html

    I was told not to press the seams open because your batting will come through. So is it ok to press open?

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  Год назад +2

      Press seams to the dark side or open is really a matter of preference. I've never had my batting come through when I press mine open. I would say if you are drawn to try it, go for it. You may or may not like it.

    Thanks Donna & Fran for another great tutorial. I have made 9 patch and it's a great starter for beginners, but as you get into 9-patch there is so much versatility to advance by cutting up your 9 pa5ch after you have constructed the initial 9-patch quilt block. So much Fun.🧵🪡
