- The fix you’ve been waiting for when your Honda Fit is stuck closed. If your door is stuck closed, first watch the segment on removing the back panel(you’ll be doing it while car is closed). Then watch the segment
where I open the door by pushing the metal tab with screwdriver. Then you can install the fix!!
Thank You for this video, without knowing pushing that triangle I wouldn't have known how to open the stuck door.
This was awesome. We followed what you did and it worked like a charm!
What you did was take up the slack between the locked and unlocked position of the actuator. If the locking mechanism is working, and the cable is in good same (not stretched/damaged) the proper fix would be at the lever/handle. Take the handle out by removing the 2 10mm nuts, slide the handle back enough to get to the hinge and spring on the back, clean and lube it before putting it back. It should now be freely operable and will return itself upon release.
I just bought a ep3 and had this exact issue thank you so much for showing me this I tried for a week to get it open
Glad I could help
you are amazing! This is a great video
You are an absolute genius! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for showing how the latch works!
I have a 2018 Fit. It started sticking a few weeks after I purchased the car new. The Honda dealer keeps telling me there is no issue with the latch. I discovered all they did was spray a mess of lubrication up into the latch. I now have to lubricate the latch within every 2 weeks.
A quick follow up on this issue. I remove the latch and cleaned it up making the metal look close to new. I then coated the parts with the silver brake grease. I decided to try this because this grease does not run and is quite resistant to salt and water. It has been a while now and the latch still works nicely.
Use dry lube or silicone. Regular penetrating oil will just wear off especially after washing the car.
Excellent fix,, thanks
The thing to note is you won't be able to lock the hatch with the pin inserted.
Thanks for the informative video.
Someone smashed into my Honda Fit and my hatchback shuts, but the door light warning light stays on in my dash. Is there any ideas to get the light from staying on?
This work perfect thank you so much I even use the same color
It's kind of fix but thanks. To Honda: this is an absurd design flaw, so easy to fix on their side, and it's infuriating that they dont do it.
Hiw do you get the panel off when the door won't open??
you can also get the part for $40 bucks on ebay and just replace the latch.
Hey, I'm going through this issue right now. Is it just the latch mechanism that needs to be replaced or is it an issue with the notoriously rusty handle not engaging the latch mech. Thanks.
Thank you!! What year is your Fit?
2009
Спасибо. Помогло.
But does it Lock?
My Honda fit is 2011 and lock is different.
i'm so dissy from watching this video
But does your hatch open? I’m not a videographer.
Am dizzapointed in ur spelling
What if the door is closed and doesn’t open at all. How can you get it to open?
You need to remove the inside panel by releasing in as many places as you can and then pull it off. If you cannot do it, you could cut a hole in it from the inside to access the area as a last resort. But I removed the trim panel from inside with some pulling and prying
