I drank with the UDV for two years and the structure is a good thing. Many just go with the flow with the organizational stuff. To say it was a an incredible experience would be an understatement. It facilitated a complete spiritual and virtuous renewal in my life. It took and takes a lot of hard work to clean up my messes, but one settles into being. The visions and vomiting was intense and spectacular. But the odd thing was how I was guided through it internally. The experience was often narrated. My deeper self spoke very clearly. It was just what I needed when I needed it. It take a big step into the unknown and I think that gave it a lot of meaning for myself and power.
Some interesting comments: I especially liked his question regarding the people finding the right admixture out of thousands of plants, countless possibilities. Dr. Krippner, however, does not appear to have had much experience with Ayahuasca; mostly spoken from an academic/clinical viewpoint.
I disagree with this wonderful man about ayahuasca visions being merely projections and much prefer the McKenna/Sheldrake opinion that the plant-human interface has its own morphological resonance. It is no coincidence that snakes are such a prominent theme, for there is the Indian understanding of Kundalini serpents, and Western esoteric tradition of alchemy for the symbol of Hermes (now basically the symbol for our medical establishments), and the shared experience of many people that the serpent is the spirit of neurological reconfiguration that leads to altered states of consciousness and enlightenment. To suggest a new model of why similar visions occur amongst a broad many peoples: Whether through meditation, spontaneous inspiration or herbal medicines, people are initiated through a deep healing that heightens their conscious awareness. The energy serving this transformation is connected to a previously unconscious, reptilian, snake-like energy that often subtly represents itself as snakes, since they weave up the spine to connect us to psyche, spirit and soul. This is an example of how manifestations in the physical realm, namely snakes, archetypally inform the mind of the Collective God, which in turn, informs human perception through the visual language of imaginal feeling. This explains why we have shared experiences and does not neglect to agree that the shared neurology and physical composition between humans is important to why this happens. It merely refuses to reduce the phenomenon so that both materialist and gnostic dualisms find a middle ground in an effort to bring psychology to the soul.
make sure you stop medications that are not to be taken with MAOI if you will be consuming the ayahuasca . You should ask your doctor. MAOI use requires you to also watch your diet carefully during the time of use.
You asked all questions I had in my mind regarding the topic! Thanks for this great interview
