God bless you! This is my problem my bushing is gone. I’ll look for it or probably improvise something with some wood glue ❤ I Thank You in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ !
I didn’t quite find the right spring on amazon, so it’s better to get this kit amts4x4.square.site/product/120-prado-gx-470-auto-shift-lever-repair-kit/2 I did find a 5mm x 35mm pin dowel on amazon, but they sell in packs. I did combine an ink pen spring (from a pen I had laying around) and a spring from Amazon 4mm x 15 mm x 0.8mm wire, but springs are also sold in bulk. In the end, my solution worked but ended up spending like $15 in a pack of pin dowels and a case of assorted springs. Since it wasn’t a perfect fix, I decided not to link the parts nor sell a kit. amts4x4.square.site/product/120-prado-gx-470-auto-shift-lever-repair-kit/2
Yes, get the pin and spring listed on the Australia web site. Google search to see if it’s available in USA. I made my own kit from parts from Amazon, but I could not get the perfect spring. Easy to get the pin dowels from Amazon.
@@MHam1I ended up using a string magnet I had laying around from an old hard drive so the right won’t slip off while changing from 2-L it was actually happening to me changing from 3 to 4 not anymore I’ll probably grease that up for there is metal to metal contact but that’s it mines a 4runner ‘07 as a wise man once said hopefully it will last me another 20 years ☺️
No, that one stays in D and won’t stay in 4. I just came back from a weekend off-roading trip and 2 and L hold perfectly in the rocky bouncy trails. Fortunately, I don’t use 4 at all so I’m good and very happy with my DIY fix.
Oh I had problems getting the perfect spring…I never really found out what’s the appropriate spring rate, spring wire diameter, spring diameter, nor spring length. I ended up using a 15mm long spring that’s 4mm wide. I feel the repair wasn’t perfect so I decided not to sell my extra parts. The other thing was the plastic hole that holds the spring and pin also needed repair (it was cracked, but in one piece) via black glue or a strong plastic glue. And mine wasn’t bad, but the shorter spring and longer pin appear to relieve some of the stress on the plastic hole.
@@MHam1I have the same problem, the plastic piece is broken which is causing the pin to slip out. Any recommendations on how to reinforce it? Some are saying jb weld
Excellent video brother, thanks

Thank you! You’re a lifesaver.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much...I just experienced this yesterday! do you have a link for that bushing (purple)?
The price of this bushing has come done quite a bit since I bought it in early 2023….

I think this might be the solution to my problem. Does it not hold in 4th gear?
Thanks, same problem here.
Is there a similar bushing on the transfer case shifter?
I didn’t check and it’s not well known issue on transfer case shifter

Does the shifter stay between 4 and D?

Where did you buy the pin from?
Amazon…I ended up buying a 10 pack of pins 5mm by 35 mm…for like $7 or so
Where did the pin go. I can't see how it escaped.
What were the measurements for the spring? The pin seems a bit narrow for the slot. Would you recommend getting a thicker than the 5mm pin you got?
Yeah I ended up returning the 4mm diameter pin and ordered the 5mm diameter pin

@@MrMetsMeeseek it’s best to replace with longer pin and shorter spring in addition to job weld to fix the plastic hole
@@MHam1 thank you
Can someone please help with a part number or item number for the pin and spring?
It’s an aftermarket kit from Australia
