Wait. This isn't Monitors Unboxed....
This is Monitor Arms Unboxed /s 😄
No this is Monitors Hard mounted
nop , it s monitors reboxed
Never has been.
it's monitorstand made
Steve is actually a contractor. HUB is the side hustle. XD
Hoe he doesn't get burnout
I was very impressed with all your tools
😂😂😎
I think this should be closely monitored.
BROOOOOOOOO
Dad, is that you?
Like all arms races.
Today i learned that
1. Steve is a competent welder
2. He has legs
You're not Tim. What are you trying to pull here?
“Always round up when talking in inches” - HUB Steve 2024
Or just don't use inches because inches are stupid.
@@elirantuil5003 Couldn't have said it better myself. They have no place in the modern world and 98.5% of countries do not use it as a unit of measurement.
@@guderian557boohoo we won world war 2 you should be speaking english and using imperial cause america stays on top no matter what
@@guderian557 I think that if you search a little beyond whatever Google's AI guesses is the most relevant information, you'll find that there are a good 25-30 sovereign states, most of them countries, that are unlikely to fully embrace the metric system any time in the next 75 years, unless there are some really major global shifts in cooperation, in a really big hurry, like if we're being invaded by aliens. At least 14 of them have no current plans to invest any more than they have previously spent on the switch, so it'll be slow and gradual, just like here in Canada where the transition that started 50 or so years ago still isn't remotely complete.

ah love it cheers :P
Isn't the 7800x3d better with ball grid array more durable than 5800x3d which has pins. But might need to use 10 or something for the size
@@bobo-cc1xw You mean Land Grid Array?
BGA essentially means soldered.
Nothing like building it exactly how you want it! Now I'm looking at my own setup and thinking...
When Steve did his deck a few years ago. You could tell he has a real craftsman's touch. And it showed again today. I would love to see other custom fabrications in the future. Great Job!
You need two more ultrawide monitors behind you on hinges that open up like a western saloon door so you can run even more benchmarks.
More behind the scenes with HUB! Always a sucker for this kind of vid
Stunning place you have Steve. Congrats!
Was so confused when I saw the word monitors in a thumbnail and didn't see Tim. Had to investigate ASAP.
had to triple check the channel name 😂
@@Souneed Don't forget, Monitors Unboxed is still relatively new. All monitor and display content was on HUB for years before they decided to make a dedicated monitor channel.
Custom monitor arms are very cool, but holy that tool shed is stuff of dreams
We need a channel for Steve building things. Working in the yard etc. I watched the shed building on floatplane before the economy went bust and I had to cut down on subscriptions that weren’t necessary.
13:13 using a clamp as a hammer is more unhinged than I thought Steve capable of
Every tool is a hammer, just hammers do it better.
I was using it as a tapper more than a hammer lol
@@Hardwareunboxed be careful about power brick, it can get hot and it may potentially accelerate OLED panel degradation in this area. (there is no good data about this, but I personally would not take the risk)
Hammer (?) Unboxed
IIRC, Terry Pratchett used to have six monitors mounted on arms on his desk. When someone asked him why, he said it was because he couldn't fit eight.
This is magnificent; the only thing better than Upside Down Steve's monitor arm, is that workshop
The matte black makes it look like a commercial product, beautiful
Upside down is a Stralia thing innit
Steve wanted to show off his pretty fantastic workshop, apparently in the outback.
I'm sure it's not his own place. It's really DeWalt HQ he's broken into at the weekend. Are they going to be mad come Monday!
@@gbjbaanb Yeah, my first thought was "that's strange, I don't remember seeing any DeWalt sponsorship?
This is what happens when you buy every single tool in your workshop on the same day from the same place ;)
The uneven gaps you have between the monitors would drive me insane.
A little extra tweaking like pulling the monitors out away from the support a little would probably fix it, but it would probably need some clips to hold them together flush.
He wants all of them slightky angled down. When you see the same exact gaps between them then you would instantly know he could close the gaps precisely, IF he wanted to.
It was an interesting project. Myself though, I would have nixed the tubing and just made some stands with the legs he made but make them telescoping and pivoting in all directions with ways of locking them in place. It takes a bit of planning to make something like that but it could be helpful on eliminating the gaps and also future proofing for other monitors later.
I built a video wall once. A total of 16 monitors mounted on a wall side by side in a 4 x 4 arrangement. Getting them equal and no gaps between them was pretty hard. Not to mention the cabling for driving all the monitors. Still is was something we needed in support of testing computers we built for a customer. It took a pretty hefty computer to drive it. It needed four ATI FIRE GL cards and the customers software to project a seamless image over the whole wall. They had some high quality movie files we used that had a 7680 X 4080 pixels resolution. it looked pretty awesome.
But the 16 video cables were a pretty hefty bundle.
@@blahorgaslisk7763 I made an endcap of 4x4 CRTs back in the day. Weighed more than 1,000 suns.
Meanwhile im sitting here with an ancient 60 Hz 1080p for a second monitor thinking i have it good lol
Good on you. Enjoy what you have!
@@Hardwareunboxed seriously, keep up the inspired work guys, Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus are literally the only people I trust these days o7
Same. Still perfectly fine though 😁
...with no experience (shows 500 handtools). Talking about power shortages sometimes (shows 500 handtools and 5 (!) 4k monitors for daily use) - Thanks Steve!
"Always round up when talking inches, guys." Wasn't expecting that one from Steve 🤣
RUclipsr by day, Dewalt dealer by night :D Fantastic work!
Some comments are hilarious, way to go people!
Nice video Steve, thanks Steve.
I'll take one while you're at it cheers
The irony of this is that this is EXACTLY what I have wanted from a Monitors Unboxed video for quite some time. Like a review/comparison of different options, which are better than others vs price and whatnot.
This man is living the life
I’m really impressed with the quality of the welds and the smoothing out after the fact
Wow, that area is beautiful!
I originally custom built a triple monitor mount for my 3 ASUS monitors (all three the same panel) but when two of them died and I had to replace them with different models, the custom solution wouldn't work anymore as the sizing was off.
Then, I got a WSGF Edition triple monitor stand and used that for a while. It worked but when I got an Ultrawide it would no longer fit all three monitors.
I eventually just got 3 single monitor arms and have been using that since. For me, it was the best solution as it's the most flexible. I just recently moved from a LLL to a PLP setup and it was so easy with the single arms as I could just easily adjust them and not have to deal with trying to redo a single arm/mount solution.
That said, some times a custom solution is the best and if it fits your needs then that is great.
Excellent work! Thanks for taking us along!
At around 20:15 we hear the main difference between the two channels. Tim is able to say these monitor names at least several times per second, he's a machine!!! :D

Milk is for the coffee machine ;)

You need more casual videos like this. Love it.
Steves shed vlog series, that's what we need.
Great build Steve. Enjoyed your desk build and enjoyed this one as well. Hope you can do more of these in the future.
As a part-time bodgey welder myself, I'm so here for some "Steve welding things" content.
From what I know heat speeds up the degradation of OLED panels so mounting the power supplies this way is probably not a good idea in the long run, though that in itself would be an interesting long-term experiment lol.
I love the monitor stand. Thanks for bringing us along for the process. I think it is awesome that you are nerdy with other practical skills.
Great video Steve! Love this custom build and I definitely want to watch more of these build videos! Your yard is huge!
Not hearing "Welcome back to Hardware Unboxed" at the start hit me harder than I thought it would 😅
Great vid as always. It just popped up and started playing and I couldn't stop watching.
Hell yeah! That set up looks amazing. Great job on the build man!
This was very enjoyable! Thanks Steve!
This was nice to watch. I got lots of good ideas. Thank you.
Amazing work. I didn't know you were handy like this, with your own kitted-out workshop. That's beautiful weather you've got, as well.
Great video, please do more of this stuff!
Nice job Steve. Really neat and tidy job
Loved this. I had a triple monitor bracket from Amazon for my 3 1440P 27" monitors and after a year of them drooping down, hours of adjustments, I got rid of it and now have the monitors aligned horizontally on my desk with their stock stands. If I ever do monitor bracket mount in the future, I probably would have to do a custom job to avoid the headaches. Great video.
Nice to see the bandsaw worked well. Sounds like I need to hook you up with some metal dropsaw blades though 😂
Good to see it worked out well!
This looks amazing. Excellent concept and execution.
the only welding I've seen on RUclips this far, was I did a thing
my mind is blown seeing how solid this turned out
I'm always impressed with your DIY skills Steve
I did something like this in 2012. I had three 24" monitors. They were cheap Samsung there didn't have visa mounts. I built a stand out of some metal pipes and elbows. Then I gorilla glued wood blocks on the back of the monitors and screwed in to them with u bends to make the stand worked. Lasted for six years
brilliant, loved the nature shots
Great job. Hats off to anyone that has the skills and kit to build things. :)
Well done Steve.. a man with many talents.
This was awesome! Thanks for the video - more of that please🎉
love the videos like this, tbh its how i really got into your channel with the desk build.
I have never seen so many DeWalt Tools before unless I am at a big box store!!! That must have taken quite a long time to build up that collection!!!
DIY Unboxed!
I have an Atdec monitor arm system and while its very expensive it has served me well for almost 10 yrs
Looks great 👍 I especially like the mat black
Well, now I want to start welding up a custom monitor mount. Finished product looks great. The Matte Black is very clean and looks like an OEM designed mount.
It seems less of a monitor stand and more like a monitor monorail. A moni-rail?
Steve is a man of many talents! This setup looks awesome.
Love the diy work/game station builds 👍
Hey Steve a warning if no one has already talked about, those power supplys will generate HEAT and probably will transfer part of it to the OLED which is very sensible to it... Be careful.
One of the possible reasons for the external power supply is the added heat to the monitor...
They don't get very warm and the tape doesn't transfer heat well. But this is something we looked into a few weeks ago when setting them up.
FWIW, you've got sensible rather than sensitive.
What if the heat melts the glue of the tape? Be interested to see how it goes
It won't melt anything.
Had the same thought. Even if the power bricks don't heat up that much, they'll be blocking natural heat dissipation from the panel in those particular spots. So I wonder if that'll lead to uneven wear in the long run.
Damn, Steve would be the perfect neighbor! Could drop by to borrow a tool or a 4090, would obviously bring the customary alcohol offering 🙂
"Steve's not home man"
@@robertlawrence9000 I've watched all the podcasts, if his kayak is there Steve is there 🤣
Fantastic content thanks guys. Cheers.
Beautiful work
I love this video! Thank you Steve.
Definitely love this video!!
Nice work Steve
Dang, this desk setup looks amazing, would love to do one like this one day. Would make surround sound speaker placement great too
So glad you made a video for this
Absolutely AWESOME!!!!
I really like the videos on the lab desk and now the multi-monitor support. Great ideas for those who are looking for a clean PC work area. Mine is a work in progress since I have to share it with my repairing station.
Top notch reviews and excellent welding and craftsmanship. We've got ourselves a Renaissance man here! Also, that's some lovely property to work on!
I am really impressed by your craftsmanship.
I'm in the same situation but with 3 monitor setup. None of the arms that I tried (and I tried lots) did a very good job. Steve, you inspired me to build myself a new monitor stand. Wish me luck!
Really love this video. I built a monitor wall myself. But I used wood instead and "only" 24" inch screens. But I got six of them in a 3 by 2 arrangement.
My only concern is the heat from the power brick. You could tape them to the arm you built versus the monitors.
thanks man. a lot of good work
Love this content, Steve!
Congrats to 1M subs BTW!
That just looks great!
I'd be concerned with the power bricks taped to the backside messing with the panels' heat dissipation, but I guess time will tell - and Steve will tell us if it's a bad idea after all.
Great video, Steve.
Keep it up.
dope as hell, nice work
Definitely do a build, this was really good.
... So I built Monitor Legs 😎
Custom individual monitor legs might have been a better and more versatile solution, especially on that magnificiant desk.
DIY unboxed :) steve is a handy man. Awesome video, i enjoyed it a lot
Props for the accuracy on those cuts with that band saw. Roll down your sleeves, skin cancer is a real risk with welding.
Really cool project, awesome monitor set up. Making me consider making a custom dual monitor stand when I upgrade my desk and get more space.
I'm a bit jelly of your super tool stocked workshop!
May I saw, just watching a competent craftsman at work is highly relaxing. Before you even mentioned it, I was going to ask about a more comprehensive build guide. Heck, just watching the build from start to finish would be relaxing by itself, but an accompanying guide would be awesome.
Nice work!
Perfect timing! I need a monitor arm
