After receiving the kit, I installed it today because I'm having people over for the holiday. The unit was not heating at all. Just finished the install and switched the unit to heating mode, it's like a brand new unit. Brian, can not thank you enough. My relatives love to complain but the house will be nice and toasty so lack of heat will not be one of them. Thank you Brian for saving my holiday. To anyone having this issue and thinking about doing this. Stop thinking and just do it. It was a game changer for me.
Just finished fixing my Mr. Cool. Awesome! Now working beautifully! I waited until the outdoor temperature hit 55 degrees, as was mentioned in another video. The canister of refrigerant completely emptied and the gauge just barely hit the edge of the “blue zone”. Thank you Brian for your great video and product.
This kit works! I admit I was a bit skeptical whether it would fix the low refrigerant problem in my Mitsubishi mini split. I'm happy to say that I had zero problems using the recharging kit and my air temperature went from 61 degrees to 49 degrees. Anyone that's even a bit "handy" can use this kit without issues. Thank you Mr. Niskala for this video and your money saving kit!!
After researching many sites to see why my daughters Mr Cool mini split was not heating I found this video and ordered the kit. It took me a 10 to 15 minutes and it worked just as the video said it would. Very easy process I would highly recommend this if your unit is not performing as it should.
Great video! I had no experience with mini-splits, but just bought a house filled with them. One of our units was not working prior to moving in, and of course it's in the room that's 75% windows and in Texas and in the summer. I watched this video and did a decent amount of research, and decided it was worth it to risk the price of the kit even if it wasn't the solution. When the kit showed up I quickly learned my pipe configuration was different than the video. I sent a couple of pics in an email and Brian responded almost immediately, and within 10 minutes I had cold air blowing! The kit barely costs more than many techs will charge just for diagnostics. I could not be happier that I stumbled across this video. Thanks, Brian!!!
@@spiderstone Hi Rick, it's okay to ask, margins are super tight as refrigerant goes up practically daily. Shipping varies depending on region. I honestly make my money on ads and offer my kits as tight as I can to Help DIYers and still employee my humble staff. 😌 But be assured most of my customers save $100s to $1000s vs. A typical HVAC call and service.
I just had a wonderful experience with Brian. He took time out of his day to allow me to ask him some important questions, Thank you Brian, you are awesome!
Process was very simple and straight forward. Got my unit recharged in less than 10 minutes which was great. I have MR. Cool mini split. Difference was immediately noticeable. Hoping sealant will fix issue. I do recommend to anyone.
This kit was a life saver! Brian was so quick to email back and the video was perfect for a step-by-step guide. I actually used this on my camper’s unit which did have a refill port. Mine did not require the adapter, but I had everything I needed. It was easy to do and I plan to buy another kit to recharge my Mitsubishi split unit! 10/10 recommend. Last week’s camping trip was nice and cool!
Super helpful video. I ended up buying the refrigerant from Brian. He always responded to my emails extremely fast. After I had some additional issues unrelated to refrigerant, he was more than happy to talk to me on the phone and offer his professional level advice. Thanks Brian!
Bravo. My 3 ton unit had been running great for about 3 years but has been struggling a lot these last 5-6 months. It was definitely on the low side and your kit and instructions were easy to follow and got the unit working great again. I'm on the hunt for any leaks now.
This fix was spot on for me. Unit was displaying PC03 error. I had some trouble at first (all user error), emailed and received a text and a phone call. Brian was super helpful and walked me through the process. Thanks Brian!
I just ordered and got one of these for my mr cool universal. I was not getting much heat. This did the trick. Shipping was super fast and sameday!!! Just goto the website in the description. Try this before anything else. If your heat pump is running more, then it should! Thanks Brian!!
Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ruclips.net/user/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.
Just got my recharge kit from Brian. 100% vouch for this guy! Fast shipping, followed the instructions, my Mr. Cool is Mr. Awesome Cool now! Worked like a charm. Thanks again!!
Got the kit in the mail got the unit recharged and she’s blowing cold for the last three days. I’ll definitely reach out again in the future, we have three of these Mr.cool units
Thank you for this video and for your recharge kit! I just received mine yesterday and it literally only took 5 mins to charge it up. Output temp was 78° and after charging dropped to 55°! Shipping was super fast too.
@@GarageMahalLife Right now, I'm in the room that AC is cooling and I can't thank you enough for that kit! The room, which is above a garage and has minimal insulation in the roof, gets crazy hot and now the AC cools it down in about an hour. Before the recharge, it wouldn't cool down at all so the room was pretty much unusable all summer. Thank you again and by any chance, do you sell a kit that can do a quick recharge on a conventional AC? Our house unit needs a recharge about every 3 years because of a small leak but it's not worth replacing the whole unit, or paying for the coil replacement, since the recharge fee in only a couple of hundred bucks. If I could recharge myself, that would be really awesome!
So our Mr Cool is freezing on the inside over the coils. Also, the outside line had ice on it too. We hover right about freezing or just below every night...heat up to upper 40's, low 50's during the day. Could our unit be low on the freon and need a recharge?
Hello, I am considering buying this for my MRCOOLDIY 48,000 BTU 4 Ton 5-Zone Mini Split Heat Pump Condenser with 2 24K air handlers. It stop heating and have a PC-03 pressure error. My question : do I need to vaccum the lines first and before adding the refrigerant? Great video!
No, you don't need to vac the lines nor purge either. My kit is specifically made to be quick and easy for DIYers! 😀 make sure you always have it in Cooling mode and 62 degrees no matter inside or outside temperature.
@@GarageMahalLife Thanks for yoru fast answer. SOrry what do you mean by "have it in Cooling mode and 62 degrees no matter inside or outside temperature."
Hi, I have two questions. 1. What kind of thermometer are you using. The ones that I see on line only measure surface temperature, not air temp. 2. Assuming that my Mr. Cool unit loses pressure again, can I reuse the gauge and only buy additional coolant? I am concerned that I might need to clean the gauge first to avoid introducing foreign particles/dirt into the system.
Your over complicating this... set to cooling, 62 degrees, recharge, quick, easy. Temp gauges are recording inside of the air unit... inside twmp, thus air temp to match. Simple, easy fix.
Hi Brian, I bought a kit early in 2024, as my 5 year old mr cool 18k wasnt heating or cooling anymore.. The kit worked great. and has been working well. just today the indoor unit was frozen up solid. I let it thaw out, and it is running again. I just used the gauge that came with the kit, and found that my coolant had dropped below the blue zone and into the top of the yellow. So my question is, can I order just the canister of R410a without the gauge? If yes then how would I do that? Thanks, Dan
Hi Dan, email me Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and we can exchange numbers. You probably have a bigger leak than the kit can seal and is usually the Schrader valve at the fill port that goes bad, the o ring typically breaks and leaks. I have a video on my site on how to replace that and also a kit. computrader.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage
Little confused, you have it in heat mode at the start, then you charge it up while running. After completing you go in and check the heat again, which was much higher. At the end of the video you said to make sure its in cool mode when charging. Looks like you charged it in heat mode, can you clear this up for me please. Im needing to charge mine its in the teens outside, can I do it while in heat mode? Thanks in advance.
No matter the outside or inside temperature, ONLY recharge in Cooling Mode 62 set degrees... then Only after you finish charging, disconnect adapter and gauge, then and only then, you can put it back into heat mode... heat mode is high pressure, cooling mode is low pressure.
I have an issue where my outside unit keeps having to go into DF mode. It heats well but keeps icing up outside. So during that, my inside temp drops and it cant be good for the unit. Do you think that this would help?
and sorry to be a pain... show I be charging the unit every year? My wife runbd the unit all night long and in the morning it has ice on it???? Mr cool? not the best? I have to order more gas.. do you offer military discount code? thanks
So, if it is icing, you are low on refrigerant foe sure. With my kit you shouldn't have to charge every year, it seals most leaks so you should be good for a few years or more.
Did you ever put a pressure gauge on it to see what it reads? From what I'm gathering the pressure when refrigerant is full capacity should be around 117 to 120 psi. But I'm not 100% on this. I have a the dye and seal 410A refrigerant coming in a few days, but I don't have the gauge that your product supplies. I was going to go by the psi from videos I've been looking into. But there's not a lot on using the cans. Mostly doing it with recovery and weighing out amount of refrigerant after recovery to know how much is inside the outside unit and going by specs. Any suggestions or if you know the ~psi is 117-120 is correct.
Just ordered another bottle!! My MrCol was icing up in the winter, I added one whole bottle and still need a second one to top it off. hopefully the sealant will take care of any leaks. We will see, my unit is about seven years old, 24K
@@GarageMahalLifeI added the second bottle, it's now just into the blue section of the gauge. The Mr cool says it takes 63 ounces. Thoughts on getting another bottle and topping it off? It's making heat and cooling when I run it. I'm thinking I should get it more towards the middle of the blue.
@@sergioangulo9162 computrader.myshopify.com/products/diy-mrcool-plus-recharge-kit-plus-uv-dye-sealant-all-in-one-fix here you go, link also in The description
Worked on my unit a 12K btu single head senville. Not sure where or what leak was, but started to produce heat like it should. Took whole bottle. I checked pressure on unit after charging and it was right where it should be. Will see how long unit continues to run and recomment if need be. Fittings at compressor were all good, no leaks. Did not check flares and connections from the head unit connections with the line set. If it looses charge will take apart cover and insulation and check for leaks. Unit was originally pressure tested and nitrogen purged when installed. Fittings were all good. If it leaks again might be coil in head or compressor unit. Hope sealant did it’s job. Set to 85 F and unit was putting out 109+ degrees, when set to 70F put out around 88 degrees.
Hey JImc, could you tell me what the correct pressure was on unit after filling? Assuming you used a manifold gauge set or micron gauge. Been looking into doing this with a dye sealant without a meter gauge shown in this video. Wish I knew before buying it. From what I could find out is psi on manifold gauge should read between 117-120.
Brian great video. I just installed a Mr. Cool 4th Gen multi zone mini split. The instant I turned the unit on it showed a PC 03 error. I don’t think the condenser ever kicked on. I reached out to Mr. Cool tech and they think the unit must have been shipped without coolant. They are sending me a your kit to charge. Will your kit work to fill the full condenser? Will I need to vacuum out the system? Does the condenser need to be running while filling?
Seem likes my problems right now (pc 03) keeps flashing and I don’t know what to do. I just bought 27k DIY with three zones, as soon as I turn the breaker on went inside and see that code flashings.
Brian thanks again for the help. The label says R410A/134.04 oz. Does this mean I need 134oz to fill? I just got the your fill kit Mr. Cool ordered for me. They sent me two of the 28.2oz kits. I assume this is not enough to fill the unit, right? Another question I have is what port do I use to fill. The condenser can operate up to 4 air handlers. Each have a port similar to the one in the video. At the top there appears to be a main port. I assume I use the one at the top to fill but want to make sure before I waste coolant or break the unit.
@@GarageMahalLife Did fill unit started off in the red almost at green but ran out I assume any ac person can refill canister?? Also temp was about 33 way on left side after filling with refrigerant temp was 35-36 is that normal
@@pf1950 Unfortunately they can not be refilled. One time use, the sealant will seal the valve on the canister from safely being recharged. Anyway, I donsell tanks separately...
Hello Brian, This is a great video. I am getting ready to order your kit. I have a Mr Cool multi zone with 4 line sets. Are each of the zones closed loops unto themselves? Each line has a service port. I suppose I should connect the recharge unit to whatever zone line that is deficient. Mr Cool was reluctant to give me information about how charge the system. Thank You.
So the outside unit has a metal placard that has the total 410a oz used in they system, my kit has a 28oz bottle of refrigerant, so if your system is more than half empty (not cooling) you may need a kit and an extra bottle... you are looking for the king valve to charge a multi head unit as they all loop back to the compressor. You would need all head units on in cooling mode, 62 degrees to recharge properly. Email me with a pic of the full size if your outside unit and a pic of the placard and I can help guide you on what you need... brian.niskala@cnjrail.com
Mine has been having weak A/C. It works but does not seem to have anywhere near full capacity. So i bought a kit. However, the pressure tested good so I guess it's tech support time. The needle was in the blue but was a bit bouncy. Is that nornal?
Good thing about my kits is they are good diagnostic tools too... so yes the needle will bounce around a bit. What was the outside ring pressure showing on the needle? Below 125psi? If so, I would add refrigerant until you are like around 135psi... email me Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com with some more specifics. I'm here to help
Typically low refrigerant, however make sure the filters are clean inside, water hose, lightly the fins on the outside unit to clean them. Is it a newer unit? Email Me, Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com
I designed this to seal most leaks, but of course there is a limit. That is why I also have a UV reactive dye to help locate the cause of the leak. And of course it will top off your unit and get you cooling or heating again.
Update: Seems like it was a success! But, you need to update the instructions with the new gauge provided to look at the outer ring for R410 freon. I literally was looking at the wrong Blue. So I put the can back on and it literally took the whole can to get to the middle of the correct blue, where it belongs. And that triggered a much better compression sound. Nice. And no more EC error. BUT, one has to ask, where did ALL the freon go? Why would it take a full can? Doesn't that imply there is a leak somewhere?
So, these units will develop a leak at the actual re charge port, the Schrader valve (like a car and bike tire) are not specifically designed to go from cooling to heat mode, 140 degrees to as much as -20 degrees in the system. So there is a O ring at the bottom of that Schrader valve that warps/develops micro cracks... this is where 98% of the u it's leak refrigerant from. The sealant in the refrigerant will seal 99% of the time and you will be good to go. I hope this helps explain and understand what and why systems get low on refrigerant
So while installing a dual zone 18000 BTU Mrcool, I didn't tighten a connector well enough. Didn't show up on the initial soap test, but it lost compression over the next week (which I did not notice since it wasn't cold/hot enough to run the heat or AC). I found the problem, so now I need to recharge the system. The question: if the system has lost essentially all coolant, will this be enough to recharge it, and will it work?
So on the side of the outside fan unit it, there is a placard and it will say 410a OZ... what is the amount it shows? And did the system go to complete zero as pressure and All refrigerant lost? Even if you have as little as 1lbs of pressure, you can still charge the system. But in most case with a significant leak or significant loss in pressure you may need a kit and extra tank...
@@GarageMahalLife So here is the really bizarre thing: there are no identifying tags on the outside fan unit. When I previously contacted mrcool about this, they told me to instead look for tags on the inside units (they wanted the serial numbers). Unless the tag is on the bottom of the unit, or somehow inside one of the panels (I took off the panel over the electrical and hose hookups, and found nothing).
I have multi zone 3 unit, there two main valve on top, do I charge from the main valve or to the individuals unit line? My unit heats but would stop and turn on continuously. Will This fix the problem?
You would charge from the main Suction line, send me a picture Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and I can circle which one. And it depends, what temperatures is the unit putting out? And what settings do you have the unit in?
By way of incredible stupidity, I accidentally unscrewed a diy novac connector on the mrcool precharged suction line. It immediately lost the charge. I quickly screwed it together again so I don't think any air got in. the suction line was not yet connected so it didn't affect any other part of the system. Is there a way to charge just the suction line? Or can it be recharged as in this video?
It can be recharged as in the video, as long as there is pressure and charge of some sort, you can recharge the system. The only time air/atmosphere gets into a system is when the system has a total loss of charge, then you would have to vac to a negative vacuum to recharge and make sure your system is clear. But seems like just my recharge kit is needed to get you up and working, quick and easy.
I have the same unit. It cooled great then during fall it won't heat the garage and doesn't blow hot air. The suction line is hot, filters are clean and no freezing up. Any ideas? Suction pressure during heat mode is 150
Hi David, the u it needs to heat to 140 degrees on the outside line before it will trigger the inside unit to push out heat. Sounds like I maybe just under that temp and low on refrigerant by a few ounces. computrader.myshopify.com/products/diy-mrcool-plus-recharge-kit-plus-uv-dye-sealant-all-in-one-fix here is the link to one of my kits. And also there is a small clear tube near the outside of the filters of the inside unit,, make sure that is free of dust and dirt.
Just installed a new air handler and had to disconnect and reconnect the fittings. Do I need to purge the air out of the system first before I charge? I see this done on other videos and I want to make sure I’m doing this right.
If you tightened down the hex screws, then attached the lineset, then reopened the hex screw, you should be okay. If it is a completely empty new line set you need to charge up completely, then it maybe necessary to pull a vacuum. Feel free to email me Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and we can discuss further. I'm here to help.
Hi Brian! Thanks for the information, video and service you provide. Just placed an order yesterday because sure enough, my mrcool diy system was on the low side. Thanks again!
Brian, thanks for posting this! I just replaced my AC compressor in my car and recharge the system from empty vacuum state to blowing ice cold air here in Houston Texas in 140° heat. Then it occurred to me that the Mr Kool in my garage might be the same process. Your video basically confirmed that including the same R410A. Since this video is 3 years old, I am curious if the system is still holding up even with these recharges? On my vehicle I found that the only source of leaking was the actual Schrader valve where the connection is made with the can. Most vehicle ACs that leak can be tracked down to that Schrader valve. Have you ever vacuumed the entire system down and done a leak check? If so that would be an awesome video to show how that equipment connects if you are aware?
Hi, yes here is another video I have ruclips.net/video/36A1cJaXc5c/видео.htmlsi=16Cb5xq_RgIW4vsu and my kits are designed to fix most leaks with my added sealant that is right in the refrigerant and completely safe for these systems. My kits will keep your mini split system charged and leak free for years. Basically a 1 step fix in less than 10 minutes!
You have the connection slightly cracked when initially putting the 410 in, then quickly tighten the connection up. This is where I lost most of my 410 initially...
Yes, if you are low in refrigerant, you have a leak... typically small, but probably steady. My sealant will seal small leaks and should get you up and heating/cooling.
Hi, I just order you kits. My MrCool bough at Costco 3 year ago. I think it's a 3rd generation. Watching video I notice that my small line is on top but your small line is at the bottom. Should I connect the kits to the small or big line? Thanks
Thank you Brian, I ran into some problems emailed Brian and he helped me right away instead of emailing me back he had me call him! Thank you again Great guy ! very helpful
Very informative video, thank you. Just about to place an order. A quick question, when you say have the unit in AC mode. Do you mean to have the unit powered on and running in AC mode while you install the r410 .. Thank you.
Yes, no matter the temp outside or in, always make sure the unit is in Cooling mode and the lowest setting 62degrees. That way it is in low pressure on the suction/fill port. After filling/recharging, disconnect everything and restore the fill port cover. Then you may put it into what ever mode you need to test the temp. I have more directions and safety tips in each kit. But please refer to the video too 😀
I have a Samsung split unit. It will on for 15 minute then stop, but when it on there is no cold air coming out just like regular air. I was wondering if it low on refrigerant? I checked the light sensor on the outside unit it said I PM OVER CURRENT. I read the manual and one the solution is to check the refrigerant level. Do you think adding refrigerant will fix this issues?
Brian, thank you for all the helpful advice and this tutorial on how to use your recharge kit! worked great and shipped quickly! I highly recommend this kit👍 Can I use the gauge over again to measure my other minisplits? is it possible to order just the freon and reuse gauge?
Hi! My mr cool indoor unit is freezing up only on low speed. Doesn’t freeze up on high. I only use it for cooling. Do you think this is low refrigerant?
Since all systems have different pressures to be considered full, how does this gauge kit know exactly when your particular system has reached the proper level
410a systems need between 125 to 135 psi to be considered full. Pressure varies based on temperature at the time of charging, which is between 125 to 135psi , accurate and consistent between all 410a, mini split units.
I’m planning to order this but my outside unit has two zones and I have 4 connections instead of the 2 shown here. Does that mean I need to buy two separate kits and add refrigerant to each line separately?
You actually will be looking for the King valve, should be pointing up towards the sky on most double+ head units. Send me a pic to brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and I can circle which on you need to use.
The links are in the description but here it is too computrader.myshopify.com/products/diy-mrcool-plus-recharge-kit-plus-uv-dye-sealant-all-in-one-fix 😀
No need with a short hose. Much longer hoses or hvac hose sets, yes you would have to. Common misconception... we have had thousands of these kits sold over years with no issues.
Would it be possible to "T" into to the hose to hook up a vac pump to evacuate a line first before charging? Basically I'm wondering if something like this could be used to fill a non-precharged DIY line if I pulled a vacuum (with proper hvac pump) before charging?
Hi, Brian, I have a kit and it is 7 degrees outside I put my unit in cooling mode and set it to 60 but I think my house is too cold to kick the compressor on. I attempted the repair but it won't push the refrigerant into the system?
Hi, okay so you can "trick" the system. Put into cooling mode, 62 degrees or 60... then unit off. Wait 10 minutes, get everything outside prepared to charge. Turn unit on and immediately start charging... you have a 5 to 10 minute window when the unit turns on. But yes, current zero degree Temps make charging a bit challenging... ideally I try to charge at 32 degrees or higher...
Were there any error codes? But typically it is low refrigerant. Outside unit how many OZ does the placard say to fill the unit? Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com
I've worked long and hard to develop a sealant that glows with UV loght over the course of 10 years. 20 years ago I would say you are correct. But my formulation has been tested over 10 years and am happy to report no negative affects on compressors, lines or fittings. In fact compressor life has been extended 3x and line leaks/fitting failures and valve leaks have declined exceptionally. Anyway, will not harm your system. But I'm fact make it better!
wouild i be able to tell with your gauge whether or not i have positive pressure and do not need to have lines vacuumed? or do i need a full gauge set to verify? I have a mr cool diy 24k and if totally empty will one bottle be enough?
Yes and no, great part of my kit is it is also a diagnostic tool, just make sure it is in cooling mode, 62 degrees no matter the inside or outside temperature. If you have zero as pressure, which is typically a rare case, you would have to vac down the lines, but again a rare situation if your unit is totally empty.
As in the video unit Must ne in Cooling mode, 62 degrees, no matter the inside or outside temp. Multiple head units you must charge the King Valve. Email me at Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com for any other questions you may have
Does it matter what the temp is outside when using the gauge? It's a little warmer today so I hooked the gauge up again and it was showing blue but close to the yellow. I gave it a couple squirts anyway so now it's basically on the border of blue and yellow. I set it back to heat mode and let it run for a while and now it's blowing warm air at about 90 degrees. But I have an identical unit that's newer and that one is putting out more like 125 degrees in heat mode right now. Is there anything else I could check?
So the temprature does affect the overall pressure, but it is all realative. Once you get it between 125psi and 135psi half way to 3/4 blue you will be good, not matter the outside temp. Just make sure you charge in cooling mode, 62 degrees.
Yup, I had it in cooling mode when charging, set to 62 degrees. But it wasn't blowing very cold air and the fan outside wasn't spinning very fast. It was about 55 outside.
Can I do this with 134A in like this using a car charger can and single gage ? I have adapters that will allow me to to connect to my AC but I have not seen any other vids saying this can work? You seem to be the only person using them, and I can buy the car kit for a much cheaper price by pound of 134A . Automotive cans are about 50 bucks for 2pounds, with a commercial can it’s 175 a pound plus gage kit !!!! I am not able to afford the cost of commercial help or supplies
Hello Brian! I tried using the kit but it seems the refrigerant keeps on leaking out of the brass adapter,I used pliers to try to tighten it but it still leaks and is not showing pressure on the gauge, what should I do?
thanks for the video. I screwed up when I installed the mini split and didn't get the lines vacuumed before I released the refigerant. the mini split worked for about 2 weeks and now it's making a clanking sound on the outside unit. I'd like to get the mini split working. I was thinking I would need to vacuum out the lines correctly this time and then add refigerant. Does that make sense? If I hook up the vacuum correctly this time, will it just suck out the refigerant? Is one of these bottles enough to fully charge a mini split? Thanks in advance.
Hi, vacuum is always a good idea on new installs, but on the DIY minis it is not needed. Typically what happens is you may have let a little out on the install, had a fitting a bit loose. It only takes a few ounces low for the units not to work properly. Keep in mind that it is basically a sealed system until you release the refrigerant into the lines, anything not tightened will cause a lose in pressure. With that in mind, there is always a positive pressure beyond atmosphere in the lines u til almost fully empties. Getting moisture in the lines with pressure is rare. My kit is enough to fill most systems to pressure or about 1/3 to 1/2 full. So you Typically would need 3 tanks to fill from vacuum all the way to pressure. Hope this all helps. Thank you for watching
Great video! I have Mitsubishi Mr slim. I assume this will work with it as well? I had this charged about 5 years ago after leaked down. They never found a leak. I guess it’s time for another recharge.
Brian, where can i get this kit. My unit was iced up outside and starting inside. Sprayed a little soap on it and i saw tiny bubbles. Tightened up a little and it stopped. Is it common for it to leak a little going from hot to cold? Its been in for 2 years and i havent had an issue. And there were no leaks at install.
computrader.myshopify.com/products/diy-mrcool-plus-recharge-kit-plus-uv-dye-sealant-all-in-one-fix There is the link as in the description. Leaks on these units is common, no matter how great they are. I still love them. My kit has a sealant already in the bottle that will fix most small leaks.
How cold should the indoor head unit coil be? Just bought the kit due to it icing up inside and outside. After I put in enough r410a to get it from green to blue, the ice thawed immediately. Current temp on Inside coils is 31.8 degrees 🥶

I purchased your kit this Monday, received in TWO days....thank you!! The gauge on my unit was barely registering when hooked up to my Mr Cool unit and it took the whole can of R410A to reach approximately 60 to 70lbs. Is this common? Also, my charge port was on the lower refrigerant line....I have a 120 volt unit. This may be useful to your subscribers to be aware of. It was the only refrigerant line with a charge port. I just ordered another can to top it off from your website. Thanks again!
Always make sure it is the larger diameter line with the suction port/schrader valve. My kit is also a great diagnostic tool, and my recharge tanks come with 28oz of refrigerant. Some cases if left unchecked you can be lower than what my kit will "top off" for you and may need to order a 2nd tank. But so glad it is working for you! Be safe and I will send this out ASAP for you 😀
After receiving the kit, I installed it today because I'm having people over for the holiday.
Thank you so much, I love the feedback ❤️ 😀 Happy Holidays! Be Safe Out There!
Thank you 😀 I'm here to help
This kit works! I admit I was a bit skeptical whether it would fix the low refrigerant problem in my Mitsubishi mini split. I'm happy to say that I had zero problems using the recharging kit
and my air temperature went from 61 degrees to 49 degrees. Anyone that's even a bit "handy" can use this kit without issues. Thank you Mr. Niskala for this video and your money saving kit!!
I'm here to help, glad I could 😀
After researching many sites to see why my daughters Mr Cool mini split was not heating I found this video and ordered the kit. It took me a 10 to 15 minutes and it worked just as the video said it would. Very easy process I would highly recommend this if your unit is not performing as it should.
Thank you, great feedback, here to help.
Thanks Chelsea! Glad we got you up and cooling 😀
Where did you purchase this kit? Please any help would mean the world to me
@@GarageMahalLife is there any coupons for shipping....hated to ask Brian.......no biggie if there isn't any....Rick
Nice work. You should leak test your fittings with a bubble solution. Solving the leak may be as simple as tightening a fitting.
I just had a wonderful experience with Brian. He took time out of his day to allow me to ask him some important questions, Thank you Brian, you are awesome!

Why was your unit throwing the pc03? Mine is as well now, bought the units and installed less than 10 months ago
Low refrigerant. After adding refrigerant the unit began working as expected.

Great to hear 😀
Worked perfectly, spoke to Brian and he walked me through it. Saved me a lot of money. Thanks

Icing up lines is definitely a symptom of low refrigerant for sure.
Just orderd the kit! thanks!

@GarageMahalLife Awesome, thanks for responding so quick.
Can you please send me a link to order. Also how much freon is in canister? Thank you so much. Great video...
Hi, here is the link to my kits, also in the description computrader.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage
I have an issue where my outside unit keeps having to go into DF mode. It heats well but keeps icing up outside. So during that, my inside temp drops and it cant be good for the unit. Do you think that this would help?
Yes, frequent DF (defrost mode) is a sure sign of low refrigerant and my kit will help 😀
and sorry to be a pain... show I be charging the unit every year? My wife runbd the unit all night long and in the morning it has ice on it???? Mr cool? not the best? I have to order more gas.. do you offer military discount code? thanks
So, if it is icing, you are low on refrigerant foe sure. With my kit you shouldn't have to charge every year, it seals most leaks so you should be good for a few years or more.
@@GarageMahalLife have to order more refrigerant.. do you offer any discount for military ? A code? thanks
and thanks for getting back! great kit!
Yes, my kit has the pressure gauge with the recommended pressure readings included in the instructions
Very nice of you to make this kit. Honestly though.. who would want to heat their house to 86 degrees?
Lol, right. No ot is the highest set point to activate the heat pump. I mean I do like a sauna.

Thank you for the feedback, glad my kit got you up and running 😀
Hi Jason, what does the placard say near the fill line? Should say blank ounces...
The compressor will kick on in the 1st 5 minutes to fill. Put in Cooling mode at 62 degrees.
Seem likes my problems right now (pc 03) keeps flashing and I don’t know what to do.
I just bought 27k DIY with three zones, as soon as I turn the breaker on went inside and see that code flashings.
Jason Ray, can you give me an update on yours , I think I bought the same one as yours.
I assume I use the one at the top to fill but want to make sure before I waste coolant or break the unit.
should ac unit be running when you charge unit??? you said have in ac mode when charging
Yes, cooling mode whenever charging, never charge in heat mode ...
So does it have to be 55 degrees outside? What do you do if its just 35 or 40 degrees outside?
No matter the temperature inside or out, set to cooling mode 62 degrees to recharge these units.

Is this to stop a leak because i just notice oil under my large fitting on my airhandler.
I designed this to seal most leaks, but of course there is a limit. That is why I also have a UV reactive dye to help locate the cause of the leak. And of course it will top off your unit and get you cooling or heating again.
@@GarageMahalLife thank you I’ll know more tomorrow.
Did you fix the leak , wow
The refrigerant has a sealant that will fix 98% of all leaks.
@@GarageMahalLife ok master mechanical here , I think I would find the leak
@@GarageMahalLife Thanks!
@@GarageMahalLife Thank you for your quick reply. I will look tomorrow. For now, what I found online was 65.26 oz.
@GarageMahalLife Greetings. Still eagerly awaiting advise.
I have 3 ports for my Mr. Cool, where do I hook up?
There should be a King valve, typically pointing straight up, but send me a pic of the whole side of your outside unit to brian.niskala@cnjrail.com
Great video does that refrigerant have sealant to seal small leaks if any?
Yes, each can as a sealant and UV reactive dye.
Just ordered, thanks!

How did you insure that air & moisture was not introduced when attaching the hose & fittings?
You have the connection slightly cracked when initially putting the 410 in, then quickly tighten the connection up. This is where I lost most of my 410 initially...
Does the product clearly state it has dye and sealant into it? Hoping to get better heat results on my Mr cool unit

Thanks
Always the larger line, however please send me a pic to brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and I can circle it for you to make sure 😀
But please refer to the video too 😀
@@GarageMahalLife thank you so much
I have a Samsung split unit.
Sounds like it is actually low on refrigerant, one of my recharge kits will bring it back to life! 😀
@@GarageMahalLife where do I get one of these kits and how much are they
no?
I'd like to order sooner rather than later.. thanks
I Ship daily by 3pm EST M-F
@@GarageMahalLife so no on the military discount?
Brian, thank you for all the helpful advice and this tutorial on how to use your recharge kit! worked great and shipped quickly! I highly recommend this kit👍 Can I use the gauge over again to measure my other minisplits? is it possible to order just the freon and reuse gauge?
You can absolutely re use the gauge and get just tanks for use on other systems. 😀 Thank you so much for commenting and your feedback 😊
Hi! My mr cool indoor unit is freezing up only on low speed. Doesn’t freeze up on high. I only use it for cooling. Do you think this is low refrigerant?
Yes, it is low, freeze up is a sure sign it needs a recharge, my kits will fix you right up! Ship by Noon EST daily 😀
@@GarageMahalLife awesome thank you
I’m planning to order this but my outside unit has two zones and I have 4 connections instead of the 2 shown here. Does that mean I need to buy two separate kits and add refrigerant to each line separately?
You actually will be looking for the King valve, should be pointing up towards the sky on most double+ head units. Send me a pic to brian.niskala@cnjrail.com and I can circle which on you need to use.
@@GarageMahalLife Hi thanks for replying. I sent an email with the picture you requested. Thanks for your help.

How did you purge the air out of your little short hose ?
No need with a short hose. Much longer hoses or hvac hose sets, yes you would have to. Common misconception... we have had thousands of these kits sold over years with no issues.
Would it be possible to "T" into to the hose to hook up a vac pump to evacuate a line first before charging? Basically I'm wondering if something like this could be used to fill a non-precharged DIY line if I pulled a vacuum (with proper hvac pump) before charging?
If I understand it as you have typed it, yes it could work for that.
@@GarageMahalLife just tried this and the unit outside is still not turning does it take a min or should it kick right on?

Hi my Mr.cool stopped cooling and heating should I buy this kit to recharge it? I have 3 air handlers installed
Were there any error codes? But typically it is low refrigerant. Outside unit how many OZ does the placard say to fill the unit? Brian.niskala@cnjrail.com
@@GarageMahalLife it says R10a/91.71oz(2.6kg) error code pc-03.
How many lbs. in the canister? Where can I order more r410a if I need it?
Hi, 28oz and you can get more here computrader.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage
I have read that dyes and sealants should not be used in Mini split systems, what say you?
Does your kit work for 27K BTU
Yes, yes it does 😀
Is the unit running when you are charging it? And if you have multi heads do you need to charge each line or just one?
I would not mix refrigerant with other refrigerant or systems... pressures are different from system to system.
Hello Brian! I tried using the kit but it seems the refrigerant keeps on leaking out of the brass adapter,I used pliers to try to tighten it but it still leaks and is not showing pressure on the gauge, what should I do?
Sounds like you have overtightened... email me your contact info brian.niskala@gmail.com and I'll call you...
thanks for the video.
@@GarageMahalLife - thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it.

Great video! I have Mitsubishi Mr slim. I assume this will work with it as well? I had this charged about 5 years ago after leaked down. They never found a leak. I guess it’s time for another recharge.
Yes, it will work on all mini splits or any system taking 410a refrigerant
Brian Mr. cool is sending me a new condenser with charged lines....can I just disconnect the old lines to the indoor unit and connect the new lines?
Yes, that should be fine, it is basically a reinstall. 😀 glad they took care of you under warranty
And there were no leaks at install.
computrader.myshopify.com/products/diy-mrcool-plus-recharge-kit-plus-uv-dye-sealant-all-in-one-fix
There is the link as in the description.
I do not see the kit in the store how do i order?

I ship Monday thru Saturday by noon...
Be safe and I will send this out ASAP for you 😀
I have a four zone MrCool. I am unsure which of the lines I would connect your charging system to.
Which line seems to be warmer than is should be or freezing over?
Kit refers to 'sealant' included. What exactly does this mean?
My kits have a sealant and leak detector added to the refrigerant... seals most leaks.
Do you know if this will work for my Homelabs mini split 115V?
If it takes 410a refrigerant then yes :)
how many pounds of refrigerant in the bottle?
28oz in total.
