  • In this video, you'll learn 7 highly effective ways to increase your self-worth. Having high self-worth is crucial to success in all areas of life and it feels so much better inside too.
    I'll start by defining what self-worth is. I'll then cover how self-worth is different to self-esteem and self-confidence. I'll cover how most people measure self-worth and I'll let you in on a secret, most people do this wrong!
    I'll reveal the typical signs of low self-worth. It's good to know these before you put in the effort to increase your self-worth. Some of the signs are very obvious and others are more subtle. This will also give you a starting point and help you measure how your self-worth improves over time.
    I'll then cover my 7 ways to help you increase your self-worth in all areas of life. These methods are quite varied and you don't need to do them all at once! Pick one or two that appeal to you and notice your sense of self-worth increasing as you put these into action.
    The questions that I mentioned to help you focus on your strengths and positive qualities are:
    • What are you good at?
    • What do you enjoy doing?
    • What makes you happy?
    • What are your strengths and talents
    • What have you achieved or accomplished so far?
    • What challenges have you overcome?
    • What are you proud of?
    • What are your values?
    • How have I helped other people?

    I think I am a bit of a spiritual bypasser.
    Two weeks ago my college made a passive agressive comment and I let it slide because I knew that when I would point it out he would invalidate me. I did not wanted to let him know he hurt me. But going by your theory that is a sign of low selfworth. But how about picking your battles? When do we speak up and when do we let it go because we know their behaviour has more to do with you then with them?

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  9 месяцев назад

      You're very welcome, glad you enjoy them. Its a tricky one. If not speaking up makes theire behaviour worse, or causes them to do it more often, then its good to act. But yes, people with high levels of self-worth and self-esteem will rarely say things that hurt or invalidate another person.

    As for basing your self worth on your career - your job position plays a tremendous role in your life. People categorize you based on"what you do". It takes so much of your time that it becomes a huge part of your identity whether you like it or not. One of the best advices on how to change the way you feel about yourself is to quit/change your job.

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  3 года назад +2

      Yes, career is a very important part of life and can take some time to change too (especially if you need to re-train). I always focus on having a career that is fulfilling and makes me happy.

      @@suzanne5651 it is not only about how other people percieve you. Your job affects how you feel about yourself as well - actually to a large extent. For instance in many customer service jobs people "are allowed" to be mean to you or even to shout at you. Even if sb says that they are immune to it they are affected by it subconsciously. People define you by what you do to and you define yourself by it as well. It is absolutely crucial not to stay too long in a work which you percieve as affecting you in mostly negative way. Job is 8 hours per day, 40 hours per weak it is too large part of your life to pretend it does not impact you.

    I resonated with this particular video and always struggled with these various issues. It’s a lot of work to deconstruct the earlier years of programming I fall in the trap of comparison and it does bring misery

      @@SelfHelpforLife I listened again and realized I am “rejection sensitive “ any suggestions to how I can over come this affliction? It’s very real

    • @SelfHelpforLife
      @SelfHelpforLife  3 года назад +1

      @@sunshine2049 All behavior comes from your sense of identity, so I would replace "I am rejective sensitive" with the positive opposite, for example "I am resilient with people". Then look for times when you didn't feel rejected by others. Perhaps it only happens with certain people. The more you can focus on the opposite (and what you want instead), then the more this will help you feel confident and comfortable with people, regardless of what they say. Hope this helps. Paul
