Mike is easily the funniest jacked guy I know. The comment about the advanced lifter being so impressed with the newbie's progress and the story about the guy in the 7/11 getting "breakfast" had me cracking up!
I wish I'd seen this 3 years ago. I literally did everything Dr. Mike said not to do when I started training and can't help but feel I've been playing catchup ever since.
After finding Dr. Mike's Ted Talk about nutrition after Ethan Suplee mentioned it on Joe Rogan, it's changed my life. He's an absolute gem to anyone getting into lifting or just becoming healthy.
Everything makes so much sense after I finally started listening to juggernaut and dr mike. The improvements are everything in my entire life have been amazing. Thank you Chad thank you Max thank you JTS thank you RP thank you Dr. Mike holy shit y’all are great
HOLY FUCK - only after 6 years on and off doing gym+nutrition stuff, and now coming out of a "beginner" phase does this shit resonate. I am certain I watched this video before and the details went into one ear and our the other. Made total sense but was never comprehended truely. WTFFFFFF
That's so true. You guys hit the nail on the head. You take any person that has never done any kind of exercise and put them on any kind of program they will see some kind of results.
@15:35 I have seen that "Too much too soon" thing many times, even in myself when coming back from a layoff (though I know what I'm in for by now) but friends start working out all enthusiastic, wanting to kill themselves in the first day/week of training, and I'm always like "Now you have to put the ego aside, don't overdo it if your body's not conditioned for it or you'll end up with debilitating muscle soreness, not be able to walk or flex your arms, etc. for days" and then you'll be less likely to stick with any type of regular workout routine...
Given some prescription meds I use, it's common for me to not get seriously hungry til 8 pm. And, it can take me all damned day to recover from training. Mind, body, everything gone: wrecked, no nothing. So to address 1) pushing calories to earlier in the day, and 2) recovering more quickly.. I'm about to start looking at recovery-dedicated supplements. The options are endless, starting, I guess, with a gallon of milk, but I thought I'd seek your perspective / advice, because I can make it to the kitchen to drink something when my powerlifting session ends at 11 am.. but what?
Dr. Israetel I try to get most of my nutrition from food. I do take creatine, a multivitamin/mineral, glucosamine/chondroitin, and a good calcium supplement. I use liquid egg whites and Gatorade powder after training sessions. I also use protein powder (shakes) as a backup for when I don't have access to food. For example if I'm at work and can't get a good protein meal. Nutrition stores are full of hundreds of different kinds of supplements. Can you do a video on what supplements really work? I've tried all kinds of supplements and I find that really the only ones that I need are the ones I mentioned above. I think there are a lot of bogus products out there that are designed for the companies to make money and they don't really work.
Im sorry guys but its a rare thumbs down here.. You spend 9 minutes chatting shit before you get to the point of video and then a huge amount of time discussing training of elite lifters (which you all know lots about and are super knowledgeable)...the video is called Training and Nutrition for beginners. Try to have a plan for the video and stick to it. Huge fan of the channel and your training advice in general. Also the Napoleonic Plan is a terrible misnomer...Napoleon famously boasted of never having a plan of campaign, of seizing the moment.
When you say the MAV for chest is 12-20 sets/week, are those sets consisting solely of compound exercises or are you also including isolation exercises like flyes and facepulls? Thanks
I am sorry. I live the intro part of what CG or photoshop or technical magnificence is used to make Chad Wesley Smith look like a chiseled lumberjack!!??
This is the first time i've ever thought something Chad said was super dumb..............how can you not be into Indian food? The standard of indian food in the US is pretty poor from what i've heard, next time you are in the UK get yourself down a good curry house.
Podcast summary: 1. Beginners need to start slow 2. 278 analogies to illustrate the above, and examples of the types of people who didn't. Because apparently "start slow" needs an hour to explain.
I love Doctor Mike. I am not anymore homeless because of government rental assistance! I am, however, still unemployed and, frankly, unemployable. Hence I spend most of my time either on RUclips or PornHub. Doctor Mike has learned my how much should I train. And also a good face too! Can I use SEATGEEK for to get tickets for Doctor Mike for one night and one night only using the promo code JUGGLIFEtoDAY? (RIP Ticket Oak)
Dr. Mike, where in Philly did you get your suit? Please tell me you want to an Italian business down in the neighborhood. It's ok, your Israeli money is good there.
9:00 training discussion starts

Michael Ball recorded them this week for Bench, Dead, Sumo Dead, Snatch, Clean, Jerk and Front Squat.
Awesome, I can’t wait!!

I remember when I first started training in the 80s. People told me to "eat a lot of protein and lift."
Where can I order one of these fusion-powered dildos, and more importantly, which version of the Juggernaut logo does it have on it?
Could you please talk about nutrition before workout?! If its necessary to eat before morning carfio or we can do it fasted.. Etc
I miss Mike

Son of a b#@$ this is a wealth of knowledge. My head still spinning.
feels good to be in the 5% of something.
Fuck, this is brilliant advice for most people. This should be linked on the government's health site.
I want Dr Mike's shirt so bad
Start off from other vid at 47:00
When you say the MAV for chest is 12-20 sets/week, are those sets consisting solely of compound exercises or are you also including isolation exercises like flyes and facepulls? Thanks
Flies would for sure count. Facepulls couldn't be considered a chest exercise though.
The camera angle makes Mike's hands look freakin TINY, hahaha (00:40)
I am sorry. I live the intro part of what CG or photoshop or technical magnificence is used to make Chad Wesley Smith look like a chiseled lumberjack!!??
I just want to cuddle Mike.

He meant eating in india itself. Dirty country, he can get sick from street food. Thats what he meant.
Dr. Mike singlehandedly killed Rich Piana with that meme comment.
No one kills Piana but himself.
15:30 hahahahahaha oh boy! sex dungeon
Boy he's good at talking. This isn't sarcasm either.
Chads looking leaner, inb4 he cuts to 275 7% bodyfat.
700lbs ripped 3% bodyfat
Mike with a cauliflower ear.

You didn't have to watch the video if you didn't like it, were you paying attention to any of the other tidbits that were said?
That's paradoxical. How do I know if I like it or not until I completely watch it?
Phlegm Atic you sound like you’re made out of soy
Top comment.
Mike, it's not behind the dumpster where it's at. You have to dive into the dumpster.
I love Doctor Mike. I am not anymore homeless because of government rental assistance! I am, however, still unemployed and, frankly, unemployable. Hence I spend most of my time either on RUclips or PornHub.

fuck dieting.
Dr. Mike, where in Philly did you get your suit? Please tell me you want to an Italian business down in the neighborhood. It's ok, your Israeli money is good there.
Is he jewish?
Mike REALLY over does the cussing!!
What the fuck are you taking about
Brad, Mike and their gang except Menno are the most overrated people in this industry. They talk and talk but never walk the walk
No way, Mike's content has totally evolved my training
Finally Bert Kreischer!! That’s who he reminds me of lmao 🤣 only took me five discussions ffs
Mr Klaneo
OMG. That’s so dead on. Now I can’t unsee it.
