The only reason I subscribe to Disney+ is to watch the Simpsons everyday, start from Season 1, work my way through, and then start again. Great Video Minty!!

The audio commentary tracks are awesome too. They are often quite funny. Futurama audio commentary has the same effort put into them. They did a great job with those. Well worth buying the DVDs back in the day.

Dear Minty, I'm going through one hell of a rough patch in my life, and can't seem to catch a break. I don't know how I'll be able to pick myself up, and everyday some new kind of bullshit happens that knocks me down a couple more pegs. In the midst of all this, binging your videos has been the only thing that has brought me genuine happiness, aside from personal time with my family. For that, I just want to thank you for being you, and taking the time out of your day to make videos like these that a lot of people love, and I just hope you know that some of us hold you very dear to our hearts. ❤

I remember my co-workers and I took a long lunch to visit a Kwik-E-Mart which was located across the street from a theater playing the "The Simpson Movie". We were in Simpson heaven. We took a lot of photos of us next to the Springfield characters cardboard cut outs. Fun times. Why did they remove Apu out of the show. None of my Indian friends today were not offended by the character. Its a curiosity for sure for controversial topic at that time.

I was 11 in 1987 and enjoyed The Tracey Ulman show but my friends and I loved the animated sketches we called “the Bart part”. When The Simpsons debuted I taped every episode on the VCR and my friends and I would parrot jokes back and forth to each other in class. The Simpsons became a skeleton key for unlocking friendships. If I was meeting somebody for the first time I’d ask “do you like the Simpsons” and if they said “yes” we immediately became friends. I think it would have been more special if show ended when the movie came out. Coincidentally I fell out of love around the same time. To this day, I quote the show to friends as a joke and shorthand to comment on any situation in life.

I missed out on the Tracey Ullman Show. My introduction to the Simpsons was "Simpsons roasting on an open fire". I do remember Tracey's less talked about '90s HBO series, Tracey Takes on..., though.

When the show started, a lot of its fans were younger males, and as the show progressed, those kids grew into young adults and then middle-aged men. I think that's why the focus shifted from Bart to Homer.

To add with your living the moments with the Simpson's, I recalled my school did not allow a Bart T-Shirt that says, "Bart Simpson - Under Achiever." I thought that was funny!

The original edgyness is what made the show, but it is the PC era. Being 57 I love that I grew up in an era where ultra edgyness was loved and no one got offended. The removal of the twin towers, pre 9-11, is ridiculous! I love watching older movies and seeing the towers. And as for HW Bush ... yeah the Waltons, Leave it to Beaver ... fiction... Thanks, Minty! Great episode 👏👏💗 Cheers from Kentucky, US! :)

Capcom announced in June 2024 that they will be removing the Twin Towers from the ending of a re-release of the Punisher arcade game. I can understand when The Simpsons didn't air the episode where it is said "all the jerks" are put into one of the towers for a while right after 9/11, but its insane to remove the towers in 2024.

Sure, they've had some stinkers... and currently, Julie Kavner can barely perform Marge's voice anymore... but the show is still funny.

When the season ended maybe 15 years ago, I lost interest in catching up on new episodes. Maybe only saw a couple episodes since, such as a Christmas episode where the family is broke and turns their house into a bed and breakfast to strangers. I hoped it'd tap into that Hall of Fame Boy Meets World episode where they do the same to their neighbor's house. Nowhere near as good and convinced me too I wasn't missing anything. This video sums up how the show plays it way too safe this century versus it's first decade
