It’s always useful to be reminded of the fundamentals of dealing with Maples as a subject on their own. Many thanks Jerome.
Always like watching these videos, always learning something new, something new to do and to add to my steps at having better trees

Great info, as always!
love the species-specific videos, just wish there were maples that thrived in zone 10a
Great info, thanks!!
I repotted a maple last year as I tried to rescue it, as it was growing too close to our fence last year. So hopefully it will be ok this year. This is helpful information. This year I hope to have some cherry blossom trees.
Thank you. Most informative.🪴
Love it very useful 😊

De nada! Saludos!
Thats make 100% sense. 😊👍🏼👏🏼. Im guessing this would apply to most trees?
Love maples
I like its bonsai.
Hello Jerome, nice video on the basics for maples.
How is your 'Japanese maple forest from cuttings' doing that you made last spring?
I was sceptical but you seem like you've had success with them before as large cuttings.
Thank you! one tree died back but the rest are coming out of dormancy. I will make a follow up video soon.
Another great video! I recently bare rooted my Japanese maple and planted it in a all bonsai mix. This is the first time I did that and I noticed the new leaves were wilting before they fully opened. Should I be watering every day here in Atlanta even though it’s not hot every day?
Once the tree starts to push actively don't let it dry out. I check mine several times a day.
People in colder regions, if you can't grow 'Japanese maples' because you're colder than zone 5, try 'Amur maples' they're cold hardy to zone 3!
I've even seen it listed at zone 2 a time or two.
Great advice!
Hi, when is the best time for air layer trident maples?
Can you please help me with my maple, It kept dying off the tip as I cut. How can I stop it from dying?
I live in North Carolina zone 7b. I have 2 larger Red Maples (2" dia. at the nebari) I want to harvest this spring. Should I take them before the leaves come out or wait until they have started to open?
Harvest them from the ground? I would do it once the leaves start to be more noticeable, past the bud break.
What insecticide and fungicide do you use. I didn't catch that in the video. Thanks man
Lucid for Mites, Talstar for general, and Immunox for Fungicide
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply thanks y'all
Preventive spray all 12 months?
In tropics yes, otherwise during the growing season.
Tried to grow a maple bonsai but my mom thought I was growing marijuana
132 species? More then 1000
Your thinking cultivars 🙂
Don't prune of all of the leaves in the summer! This tip is just dumb.
Why is it dumb?
@We are The Bonsai Supply why would you weaken the tree and almost kill it . When you can to the branch selection when the leafs naturally fells of
@@thenaturecreater8906 When deciduous trees go dormant, they sleep like in the winter but much shorter. Removing the leaves will redistribute the energy more evenly throughout the tree, and you get more tertiary branches, which will help build ramifications. Since you remove all the leaves, you can see the full canopy, allowing you to detail trim and wire again. So it does not weaken the tree; in fact, it strengthens the trees.
@We are The Bonsai Supply I don't agree with that at all afther experience
Feel free to not listen to Jerome’s free and expert advice, or listen and keep your less than kind comments to yourself.
This week a big Spanish RUclips channel (@bonsaiencorto) was banned because of promoting drugs. He had some videos with leaves of palmatums. 3rd strike.
That is how RUclips treats bonsai creators
That is nuts. I hope he gets his channel back.
