Pretty fair comparison. Very good point that Meris MercuryX has loads of stuff right in the reverb block itself that goes a long way. It’s even easier than that LVX IMO. Other blocks and modifiers extend the power but are not necessary for great sounds.
Thanks!
Creed and Death Cab in the same video? El Dorado at that!❤
Big sky MX all day
To me Strymon actually has nailed a specific thing other ambient washy reverbs doesn't do. It seems to me that Cloud and those sounds strymon make is not very sensitive to your dynamic playing. While my Rv-5 and it sounds like Mercury X has a smiliar thing, which is that there is a chaotic swirl that happens in the sound when you dig in. Strymon algoes seems to just lay under your playing and it sounds very pleasing. Which in some sens might be very desirable (specially for less dynamic playing). Or for you who want nice stereo spread BUT not very sensitive interraction with your notes & playing.
Comports with my experience. OG Bigsky, especially Cloud, is padlike - lush, but relatively flat and not dynamic (or we might say sustain-ey). MercuryX reacts more to the input, more dynamic and lively while still possessing some sci-fi flourish. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. (MercuryX, and LVX, DO have compressor/limiter options which can flatten the reverb more, if desired.)
RIP Drizzy and Kendrick 🙏🏻 bobobobobone bone booone
It’s a tragedy really
Have been working on this for a minute, but the latest reverb in the Line6 stuff, the “dynamic bloom” gets really close to both of these. Don’t know if y’all have looked at any of those “dynamic” verbs in the stomp, but their algorithms were created with the guys at meris!
That’s awesome! I didn’t know that. I sold my stomp a while ago but it’s an amazing pedal
*pushes glasses up nose*
Technically there are different different types of clouds
😂 we’re talking stratus and nimbus over here
I honestly always liked the Eventide Space way more. The Big Sky has a "hi-fi" highs bump (kind of shimmery) that never sounded great to my ears, but that's Strymon's signature sound (it is there in the timeline as well).
Mercury X is astonishing..In my opinion it is the king..I have it a month and every time I go on it I discover new
Did you guys notice headroom issues with the Strymon. I would be pissed if I spent that much and I could not hit it with a drive pedal.
I didn’t notice any issues with headroom on the Mx or the cloudburst
@@gearnighthang Cool
MercX is the king. Amazing sounds and control.
Got no drippy surf reverb, no convolution either. I am sure its good, but there are good reasons to get something else.
It sounds soooo good. Every time I play it I’m inspired
I’m all for competition, benefits us all. But for me, Big sky MX is king. Strymon killed it.
