    I love that you’re putting yourself first this year. I also plan on reading less, I “panic” read in December and that wasn’t fun and I realised it wasn’t very important. I also would like to read more non-fiction.
    I do think (for selfish reasons) you should add a peak at Nigel every video because he’s adorable and his little face makes me smile. 🥰

    Assassin's Fate was absolutely a top read for me too - also very much relate to your feelings on Cerulean Sea... My dark reading soul shockingly loved it

    The Hating Game was up with my favourite books of the year, and definitely my favourite romance. I kinda had the same experience where it hit me at the right time when I needed a pick me up x

    I don't think I'll ever quite emotionally recover from the Realm of the Elderlings, Assassin's Fate took my No.1 spot.

    I have to say If We Were Villains had to be my best book. It still has a choke hold on me and I will never emotionally/mentally recover from it omg. The Shakespeare, the drama, the angst!!! *sobs* I won't give spoilers but omg some of the scenes and lines have just destroyed me and I will absolutely be rereading for pride month this year

    My best book of the year was Things We Do In The Dark by Jennifer Hillier because I really loved the main character & felt her pain on a certain level. It was also just a really good & raw story to me. So, that was my top fave. My reading year last year was not the greatest. I was trying to not pressure myself to read but somewhere along the way it just got really hard to pick up
    a book that wasn’t audio. I’m hoping this year will be better. It’s like my brain was excited for books but then she didn’t want to actually read. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Love you, my dear! 🥰🥰🥰 Happy Reading! 🤓📚✨

    My favorite book of the year was The Final Empire, followed close by Haunting Adeline and To Bleed a Crystal Bloom. I could not put either of them down. They were so exciting and I couldn't stop thinking about them. I'm looking forward to read Her Soul to Take this year.

    This is the first of your videos I've watched and so far I'm vibing lol. I loved the Hush, hush series, and though I'm not completely caught up on all the Robin Hobb books I'm trying to get back to the ones I haven't finished. The soldier's son was good but I'd agree that it's not nearly as good as the The Realm of the Elderlings, lets just say the Fool broke me. I think The Amarinth Heir by Isabella Amaris was my favorite from last year.

    With you liking The House in the Cerulean Sea, I have to recommend Under the Whispering Door. Shit me Becca it is an absolute belter and I think it would hit you in a similar way as that glorious House did. I hope you manage to get to it at some point this year, it is a real heart squeezer and I really can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. This isn’t a book that will disappoint at all and my goodness…hold on to your heart

    • @tungstensmum1491
      @tungstensmum1491 Год назад

      Under the Whispering Door made a HUGE concession to the reader that I just…. Couldn’t be ok with. It would have gotten 5 stars for me if the one rule of the universe that we’re keep being told can’t ever be broken was just like, suddenly ok to break.
      I was also massively grieving while reading it so maybe I would have taken that better had I been in a better headspace? But I actually felt a tiny but manipulated.
      That said, I can’t wait for his next book - Something about Puppets. Klune is definitely an auto buy for me now.

      @cleg78 Год назад

      @@tungstensmum1491 I have been lucky enough to get an arc of his new book but I also have it preordered too and can’t wait for it.
      Reading Under the Whispering Door whilst in the hard path of grieving I wouldn’t recommend and I am sorry for your loss. The many different elements to it is what I think made it a special read. So far these books have made this ice hearted person cry and for me they hit the spots x

    • @tungstensmum1491
      @tungstensmum1491 Год назад

      @@cleg78 I have been holding off ordering the new Wolfsong from Book Depository because I spent waaay too much on books for myself last month, LOL. Looking forward to getting it eventually, for sure.
      And yeah I generally agree on UTWD - I just wish Klune hadn’t made one particular choice. Again, probably largely due to the headspace I was in.
      So jealous that you already have the new one! Can’t wait to get that shipping notification! Hope you love it.
