The way I NOPED out of Zodiac Academy book 1 after just reading a couple chapters…I couldn’t even make it through the first book with such terrible writing and everything I hear about where the story goes and what you’ve said about the “bully” aspect of the romance I’m so glad I didn’t waste my time. On the other hand, the way you described Justice of Kings and Absynthe absolutely sound like my jam so I’ll be bumping those up in my TBR lol
So funny that you mentioned the women being damsels in distress in Mistborn Era 2... I actually have hated the way Sanderson writes women in all his Cosmere books (haven't read SA yet) _except_ for Mistborn Era 2. They finally felt like they were interesting characters in their own right and didn't have any of the annoying 'not like other girls' or one of their main traits being 'woman' like I've found in his other works.
Literally gasped out loud when you said you didn't like Lirael. It's one of my most favourite books. Like I would save my copy if my house was on fire kinda favourite 😂. No hard feelings of course, it just goes to show that everyone is different! ✨
Totally agree with just finishing what you’re actually enjoying! I do the same so rarely have below 3 star reads, but my worst book of 2022 was A Touch Of Darkness by Scarlett St Clair. I am currently reading The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan so this video was funny to watch. I totally get what you said about not liking the "Agatha Christie set in a fantasy world" tone, crime fiction is not my thing at all either. I have considered DnFed it as well but I'm around 150 pages mark and it has finally moved a bit from the murder mystery, it is getting more political. Well it won't be my favorite of 2023, that's for sure.

To be fair, I didn't know Gallant was YA when I picked it up (it wasn't in the YA section) and my biggest criticism was that it was very shallow and young. If the premise had been used in an adult novel, I think it would have been as good as I was expecting. The Pharmacist was trying to be a Sci-Fi Thriller - it failed at both.

I loved Strange the Dreamer but felt very let down by this one. - Priory of the Orange Tree : it has everything I love and the story should be gripping but it is written in a way that makes it all a snoozefest :'( And that's coming from someone who likes slow books. - Wild and Wicked Things : same as you. Couldn't get interested. Nothing happens, no stakes. - Defy the Night : Same thing. Main character felt like a stereotype of "mysterious badass teenager" - The Burning White : last book in one of my favourite series, which has the best plot twists in fantasy and... This last one was deus ex machina after deus ex machina and still managed to be as predictable as a 1990s action movie. What the hell. - Daughter of the Pirate King : this read like bottom-tier fan fiction :/ - This Woven Kingdom : purple prose without Laini Taylor's talent and with cardboard characters.
My worst book of the year was A Little Life, and now it’s my most hated book of all time 🎉. Genuinely the most exploitative, manipulative shit I’ve read
My worst book was Confess by Colleen hoover. tried her out and i dont care if her fans say that's one of her less good books, i am beyond disinterested in trying more
My worst book of the year was Dial A for Aunties. Didn't understand the humour and the lack of respect for human life from these "upstanding pillars of community" was just horrifying.
My worst book of 2022.....The Island by Adrian McKinty. It was just a story that I had read or seen in movies way too many times. Just couldn't be bothered. I did read it all. Should have DNF'd it. More of it being my issue, not the books.
worst book was All The Stars and Teeth - i hated this book so much lol but even worse is the most disappointing book and that was The Cartographers! omg did this book let. me. down!!!!
My worst books were dnf's. The only one of the bunch that I hated was Letters to three witches (one of the boyfriends did something that no hetero norm cis gender man would ever do, it involved a very personal woman thing, it grossed me out). The others had minor problems. I also realized I don't like colleen hoover's writing style. Give me Carian Cole any day. That woman can write hard hitting romance! Also Still beating was amazing but I didn't think I was going to like it. That was an anticipated dnf that worked out.🤣
Justice of Kings was such standard, white man fantasy. It wasn't BAD, I just kinda felt offended that it wasted so much of my time with being so average.

Main character felt like a stereotype of "mysterious badass teenager"
- The Burning White : last book in one of my favourite series, which has the best plot twists in fantasy and... This last one was deus ex machina after deus ex machina and still managed to be as predictable as a 1990s action movie. What the hell.
- Daughter of the Pirate King : this read like bottom-tier fan fiction :/
- This Woven Kingdom : purple prose without Laini Taylor's talent and with cardboard characters.
My worst book of the year was A Little Life, and now it’s my most hated book of all time 🎉. Genuinely the most exploitative, manipulative shit I’ve read
I enjoyed this video. Everything I've heard about Zodiac Academy gets a big NO from me. Not even going to bother.
My worst book was Confess by Colleen hoover. tried her out and i dont care if her fans say that's one of her less good books, i am beyond disinterested in trying more
My worst books of the year: The Maid, Mexican Gothic and Murder at the Theatre Royale
My worst books in 2022 were Grimrose Girls and Something Wilder
My worst book of the year was Dial A for Aunties. Didn't understand the humour and the lack of respect for human life from these "upstanding pillars of community" was just horrifying.
yeah wild and wicked things was not great. I'm glad I had an ARC and so didn't spend any money of it
OMG without contest This Woven Kingdom was the worst book I read this year. Horrible plot, boring characters,so cliché and just bad bad writing 🤮
My worst book of 2022.....The Island by Adrian McKinty. It was just a story that I had read or seen in movies way too many times. Just couldn't be bothered. I did read it all. Should have DNF'd it. More of it being my issue, not the books.
worst book was All The Stars and Teeth - i hated this book so much lol but even worse is the most disappointing book and that was The Cartographers! omg did this book let. me. down!!!!
My worse book of the year is The Clown Hunt. I discovered I do not like extreme horror books.
My worst book of the year is The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. I strongly, strongly dislike that book with a passion.
Damn! I like that one 😂
My worst book was there are no saints by Sophie lark I hated it
I honestly can’t believe people continue to pay money for zodiac academy knowing there are so many grammatical and spelling errors.
That was an anticipated dnf that worked out.🤣
The Hobbit was my worst book of the year.
Yeee definitely going to leave the second era of Mistborn 😅 its just the one trilogy and no one will convince me otherwise
Zodiac Academy was so bad it made me angry 😂
Literally 😂
Justice of Kings was such standard, white man fantasy.
It wasn't BAD, I just kinda felt offended that it wasted so much of my time with being so average.
🥰🥰🥰
Yikes Zodiac Academy sounds like it's so not for me. SO many people hate this lmao I'll pass and save myself
Don't hate me..but The Hating Game was my least favorite. Its my only DNF that I included on my 10 worst list. :/
Not you telling me this as I'm editing my best books 😭
@@BeccaandTheBooks LOL I'll still watch that video, I promise!
My Worst Book Of 2022: Sweet Home by Tillie Cole
You had beef with Kings this year
F*** the Patriarchy
As 👏🏻 you 👏🏻 should
Hari tau hou Becca 🎉🤩
thank god someone else agrees that the zodiac academy is trash - I thought I was going crazy when everyone else was raving about it
Glad I haven't read any of these. ZA just sounds awful
My worst book of 2022 was From Blood and Ash 😬
Me too!
Thank god I haven’t read any of these 🥲
