I did not realize there was a Clock battle. I appreciate that you bring us into YOUR home, as as such I would not dare tell you where to have or not have a clock in your home. Personally I have an Echo display in kitchen and love the functionality it adds, specially for timers.
My guess is the grinder component is made of ceramic. That's pretty standard and what my daily use hand grinder is made of, so it should hold up over time.
From the brief look in the video, it looks like the same size & shape as the ceramic part in the Kyocera hand grinder I have (or one of its many, less expensive, lookalikes).
I enjoy the slightly different flavor of the ceramic burr ground coffee in my AeroPress when I travel. Ceramic burr grinders can be quite nice for many styles of coffee brewing
saw the video yesterday went on amazon they had the yellow one for 17.11 after tax and discount. Got it today made two cups , 2nd one came out very good. Tightened the bottom part of the grind size then backed it off 11 clicks grind was very decent. Getting ready to go on a 7 day road trip from Florida to Colorado via Texas. Lots of hotel coffee (NOT any More) thanks Morgan
This looks like a good item for a week long trip and then for outdoor lunches until it wears out. For twenty bucks it seems like a deal. Thanks for sharing your impressions and humor!
Really glad you did this one and happy to hear it came out well. It would be so cool to see how you dial in this one, given that it doesn't have as many variables as sophisticated brewers.
I'm partial to the original size aeropress because you can fit a small grinder inside it if you want to. Aeropress + Fellow Pismo with metal filter + tiny grinder. Cups never really seem to be the problem, at least for me. My every day water bottle is actually a coffee flask : )
@@TimBryan The Porlex mini will fit, but there's a lot of other similarly sized grinders. I don't use a mini grinder, but if I had to replace my current grinder, that's what I'd likely get. My current coffee grinder is a "HandGround" that I got via kickstarter. I used that pretty much daily at home, but it's not really travel friendly. I like having a manual grinder because they are quieter, and because it lets me still make. coffee if/when there's. power outage.
Coffee maker that I think you haven't covered but might find fun: Neapolitan style flip maker. Basically works as a reverse moka pot; fill the thing up, set it to boil, and then flip to filter.
Had something like that several years ago. 2015 maybe... Made by Cafflano, called the Klassic. Took it around the west coats of the USA for a few weeks and it worked. Not the best grinder, but worked well enough. Steel filter was ok. I preferred using it with paper filters. Small Hario V60 filters fitted great and made clean up so much easier. Dual wall cup worked really nicely. Very happy with it. Still use it when travelling today. Bit more expensive than that one though.
Honestly my first thought for this was for people with allergies! Often people who have allergies can’t get coffee either from shops or places that are unknown in terms of contamination status. Having a personal grinder with cups means that EVERYTHING can be uncontaminated. Most of the time anything such as a kettle that is used for hot water just uses hot water.
@pepperypeppers2755 but this is way easier to carry. Taking a full pour over set up to the office every day or to go have coffee with friends etc seems very involved and overwhelming. This seems way easier to deal with
I've noticed online that Finnish people are absolutely crazy, crazy, crazy about their Moccamaster coffee machines. Could you make a review about this or a collab with a Finn about it?
I'm pro-clock, but didn't realise until you mentioned the clocktroversy. I think your videos are shot broadly linearly and the clock is a nice confirmation of that. I'm anti-allinone though. I just don't think one piece of kit can do a good job at all the different parts of the coffee process. Several pieces of separate well made equipment for me please.
Found it and purchased it! (Apparently caught it on a particularly good deal today!) I have a tried & true travel coffee kit, but this could save some significant space if it works well. Willing to try for a sub-$20 investment! Thanks for the video!
Most likely ceramic, it's kinda either some metal, ceramic or plastic but I think you'd both feel and hear it being plastic because it can *not* handle coffee well from my experience edit: Checked site, says ceramic
Seems like a fun coffee gadget. I should forward this to my family in case they were wondering what to get me for my birthday. Thanks for the video Morgan.
I have this big wooden box grinder from the early oughts that my Mom picked up while visiting Germany. This was before hand grinders were readily available in the states. It's cheap loose with way too much play, BUT I just sit down and put the wooden box between my legs and crank and it works really fast and I can touch up the adjustment as I go. More people that complain about how hard hand grinding is need to try it sitting down with the device between your legs. That kit is really cute and a deal. The grinder even has a spring! I can only drink one cup a day so I am looking for the ideal way to do a loose coffee submerged in water type brew. Pour over just gets weak and acidy unless you have the ideal amounts. One cup doesn't work well with pour over. This makes me want to try brewing coffee one of my submerged tea brewing baskets: the open cup shaped kind you just dunk within your mug. I hate cleaning the french press. I wonder if you can dunk that filter in the cup while brewing.
Design is important. Moreso than most people think. This seems well thought out! Edit: love the clock in the background! Your sensibilities are... Sensible. Edit edit: then you mention the clock as a thing in the MDC universe, and i wonder how I've never noticed it before...
A few years ago, I got an all-in-one that was twice as long as this one and I learned I'm too weak in general for hand-grinding. 😅 More importantly, I've gotten used to the clock now - at first, it was hypnotizing. 😵💫 For anyone going through that now, it will pass. Maybe.
This is so sweet 😊 you are so sweet! I have watched your shorts but this is the first long vid I've seen. I love that you have the same vibe in this as your shorts. I wanted to give a little feedback on this vids sound mixing. The part where you were grinding really drown out your voice. Between the bgm being louder and the loud grinding I and my elderly mom couldn't pick out your voice well at all. I'm always on the hunt for pleasant creators that my mom might enjoy and your demeanor and bgm are just perfect. Thanks for creating nice content! (The clock is pretty cool btw)

I believe it's a Google Nest Hub. The Nest Hub Max and the new Pixel Tablet also have the same clock option. Expensive for just a clock but they're good smart home interfaces. I love using mine in my kitchen for recipes and music to cook/coffee to.
Im honestly tempted to get this and bring it to work. The only problem is the lack of a kettle...though i guess i could bring one too if im gonna commit lol
It reminds me of the Norelco Hot Stuff! The pill with two handles becoming one, a bunch of stuff rattling around when its in travel config. Very reminiscent.
Did you try the Bripe? It doesn't have a grinder, which I have a travel one for my backpacking. But it does the brewing. I'm going to get this to compare. At that cost, it's worth a test.
Fun video! Thanks for the review. I am clock neutral. We rarely comment about clocks, but we get together regularly on discord to share our moderate positions on issues such as clocks, T-shirt colors, hair gel, and the like. 😂
Last time I got an all in one coffee unit, I was disappointed with how often I had to add water which allowed the water to cool. The geometry is against us.
To address the longevity concerns of a ceramic burr: as long as you aren't daily grinding lightly roasted coffee at espresso levels, it will last a decent amount of time. I killed my Hario mini by making it stepless and grinding for espresso in about 6 months.
Experiment with recipes using a scale at home, taking note of the levels (volume). When you use it out in the field, eyeballing it should get you a decent cup of coffee.
I feel like the biggest issue with this is the possibility of a big difference in quality and reliability from unit to unit. I doubt the QC on these is incredibly thorough, so someone might end up getting one and seeing worse results due to manufacturing issues that vary between units, and the underpaid worker who was quality testing it understandably skipped or ignored any issues.
Have something similar that someone gave me. It is a terrible experience and can only get a small coffee out of it because of the compact unit not allowing a lot of room. Aeropress with a small Timemore C2 much preferred for travel
I love this for Difficult Outdoor Things™️ but I’m always curious of the best outdoor coffee where 2 people can actually drink their coffee together! Two cups but definitely one drink at a time will be consumed. Or am I missing something?
I suppose if you want two cups at once then you can brew one cup at double strength, divide between the cups and add water to each. Coffee purists will resist this method but it works if you just need caffeine, lol. 😅
Almost certainly, however most of it settles at the bottom without too much trouble. I’ve definitely run into metal filters that were worse than others
This would have been perfect for the vacation I just returned (from). I was told specifically to bring "coffee beans, because we got a new machine", only to encounter a horrible Korean device targeted at making soy milk. It was able to grind the beans just fine, but not brew them beyond making a "blended coffee soup". There was no way to extract the beans between the grind and blend step. I ended up wishing I had any kind of simple hand grinder to rescue this machine from itself. The soy milk was great, though.
I might take that for traveling, but not camping -- it seems too fiddly. I know I'd lose that retaining nut, for instance, and losing that one part defeats the whole purpose of the gadget. All around, I'll stick with my Aeropress and tiny grinder.
It looks pretty nice, especially since some other all in ones I've seen. I think stowaway wise I'd have preferred it not to have those "handles", and instead maybe have a cloth/rubber gripband. My vote, too. Looking at bulk burrs for my own innovations, ceramic is the most prevalent material for cheap coffee grinders.

I can’t stress enough how valuable the clock is to my viewing experience.
When I first watched I didn't quite clock the clock, I just noticed movement on the left of the screen. It took me a second to realise what it was!
that is one cool clock
Knowing that it took at least 32 minutes to shoot this video adds a lot. Clearly an economical production but they got some extra takes where needed.

This seems like it's a pretty solid set, but it's hard to beat an Aeropress Go. The two cups and grinder make it a bit tempting though.
