Great video, friend! Also, i think Lizard pets are under rated for survival hunter. They offer MS, also, they provide a 2min cooldown on a Rallying Cry ability that increases 20% of the HP of both the Hunter and their pet.

Trying to look up your addons, your discord has it so default new joiners cannot view anything. I would recommend disabling that as people are likely to join and then just immediately leave
its that way because i had spammers before. definitely need to find a new way to deal w it haha

Any advice if I was thinking of playing survival hunter OR an arms warrior with a pvp focus?
Seems like survival hunter might have better CCs and is less durable? Like a rogue without stealth? Lol
I currently have a 70 arms warrior and a 70 Marksman hunter I was debating swapping to survival. I've found I enjoy melee more than ranged and have been having fun with arms but apart of me misses the hunter lol
SV hunter is super fun. The thing i would focus on is your damage rotation. Then slowly start adding things , like harpoon macro, using your defensives properly and w/out over lapping. A good person to watch is Bicmex, he is a pro SV hunter.

I have a question: even though it's a melee spec, is it worth having a backup ranged weapon + weapon swap macro as a Survival Hunter?
With plenty of ways to leap forwards to the opponent (I'm playing a goblin, which even has an extra one), I wasn't sure if it was necessary. But I'm thinking there will be times where the opponent is running away, things are on cooldown, and I still want to maximise damage, right?
Apologies if this is a crap question. I'm a returning player to WoW, and it's not only my first time playing a Hunter, but also my first time attempting PvP. I want the 'Malicious' title, which requires world PvP in Dragonflight zones.
It’s a good question, especially because even in SV Blizzard gives us abilities that need a ranged weapon haha. SV hunters have enough abilities to not need a ranged weapon though. Bombs / Serpent Sting will do a lot of dmg in distance while you chase ppl down.
PvP is a lot of transitioning from offensive to defensive. Usually in PvP you want to stop ppl from getting away because they can reset (rogues going in to stealth and healing/healers drinking/casters getting CDs). In the build I have linked you get Concussive Shot which makes your wing clip (SV’s slow) into a ranged ability. Makes it so you stay on top of the enemy.
There are also times you need to kite back and reset yourself, where you want to slow the enemy with concussive , use traps , and disengage to get distance and feign death and camouflage behind corners to get a good reset and wait out CDs to come up.
I hope that’s not too much. Honestly the best way to get used to it is to play BGs and tinker your play style that way. You’ll start to build the muscle memory of what to do when.
@Western_TV thanks for the reply. Even as a beginner Hunter that's barely into the spec yet, I did notice Hunter just has some vanilla ranged weapon abilities, which is why I thought I'd ask. But I'll have a play with things once I'm 70 and see if it's worth it, or if there's enough going on already without worrying about switching weapons.
I hear you about muscle memory. After coming back to the game after a nearly six month break, I was surprised how I was able to get back on top of my main character, which is a Brewmaster. Even with Brewmaster's button bloat, I was up and running again in a matter of a few hours. So hopefully Hunter doesn't take too long to get into.

Maaaannnn sv is one of my fav specs but I suck at PvP.. i think I tried too much like; you mentioned just take a little at a time

it is at the bottom of the General Hunter Talent Tree (the one that is not the specialization)
you didnt really talk about a rotation
The rotation is priority , aka press the ability that is off cooldown on that list
