😆😆😆 am soooo happy. Finally some one came up with this idea for the X5. Thanks bro for making these lockers. Definitely a game changer. I am one step closer to beating up those jeeps on the trails. BTW, I think you should create a seperate ECS youtube channel specifically for the X5

Excellent work! One of the advantages of lockers that nobody talks about is the control they give the vehicle when going down steep descents on loose material. A lot of modern vehicles use some sort of "hill control descent" algorithm to engage the brakes in a way to control the car when going down steep hills. Problem is they use the brakes a lot and if they descent is long it can overheat the brakes, cause unnecessary wear, etc. A mechanical or selective locker will not allow one tire to over run the other and it helps hold back the vehicle without using the brakes on steep descents.
It definitely helps with that for sure!
The x5 has that kind of hill decent control from factory as well

This is awesome! I recently been wanting to do this to my X3 i28 since over-all maintenance is coming up soon. You should definitely do another video on X3s or wheel spacers! Predominately the thick boys as these would seem to have an effect on the off-road and over all vehicle look. Thank you! Big fan now!
Awesome! Does the electronic traction control cause any problems. X drive issues? Plans for a E70 diff locker? I would buy one in a heartbeat! Its whats missing in my build!
Good work Mike and the ECS team working on these mods for the E53. One request for future mod would be a kit to change over the trucks that are spec'd with 4 corner air suspension. The current catalogue only has a kit for Bilstein B12s with either Eibach or H&R lowering springs.

Any news on release date?
Please tell me you are also developing one of these for the older Mercedes ML. All that thing needs is a useful differential.
That or develop something to put a low range in the X5. Or both.
How realistic will be its availability? Do you have an estimated time frame? Really looking forward to it.

I would be interested in one. I have a 2004 X5 that I plan on overlanding for use in bird hunting and want to make the real mods not just the cosmetic ones.

forgive my ignorance, is there any significant difference between an X3 diff and an X5 diff. ie will the diff centre in your X5 fit and X3 to create what I call a detroit locker. my last 4x4 got cleaned up by a wombat on his mobile phone. but that had an ARB air locker. I am thinking about returning to driving a 4x4 but ARB does not appear to have any BMW parts that I might consider adding to an X3/X5. Cheers PK Aust.
