- I show you how to modify the original DJI RC Controller for DJI Mini 3 Pro. Modification shows mounting external connectors for antennas.
Various types of antennas will be tested soon.
The antennas used in the video are from Aliexpress, purchased for $ 9.

100% the signal is HORRIFIC ive lost my drone with it in less than 100 metres
@@wanderingwhere i lose mine at around 550m. i'm in europe so power is auto dropped to about 100mw compared to usa that allows 400mw.
Dji factory batteries suck too. Aftermarket batteries get me almost an hour of flight

Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be very interested to see the results, potentially it could be worse because the antennas you fitted are omnidirectional, whereas the OEM ones in the controller are directional and throw out a more focused narrow beam directly towards the drone (if aimed correctly). Might also be worth waiting until it’s out of warranty 😱🫣.
Great job. I would like to know how much that improved the signal. When people fuss about not having an external antenna, it takes me back to the days when cell phones had them. Who wants that on their phone today? DJI should have definitely put a better antenna in that controller. Thanks for the video.

Thank you for the video I modified The Mini 3 controller And tested it out on Mini 3 and Mavic 3 works flawlessly I was scared To push it all the way I had good bars just was worried about the battery running out getting back home, And the same thing Worked perfect on the Mavic 3 Good signal all the way Both tested in the city as well...

Thanks. Im not going to install an antenna but I used this to know how to get into it so I can screw a hole into the front for a lanyard mount.

Hello, first of all, thank you for your informative video. What should be the dbi value of the antennas we install instead of the remote's own antennas? If we install stronger antennas, can the remote control operate these antennas? Finally; Can it still work if we install an external antenna by paralleling these antennas without removing the remote's own antennas?

those antenna's are not 8dbi but 3dbi. i have them myself and are the same as standard asus antenna's on my RT-AX88u. i opened them up and there are 2 tubes. the top tube tuned for 2.4gh and the bottom(ground plane) one for 5ghz. i bought the HX-link antenna's at least these seem to be made for drone flying

This wouldnt cause any issues with software acceptance. The software simply sends signals to the output. What that output is connected to is up to you if you decide to change out the antenna.
I'm concerned that the small connectors that connect the antenna cables to the remote control aren't the right ones. can you help me with that ?
I ordered that DJI RC controller for my Mavic 3. I hope it gets better than 500 meters on its own without modifications. The DJI N1 controller reaches a range between 1000 to 1400 meters before signal almost fails. I sure hope I didn't buy a subpar controller. I am needing more like 12000 meter range.
500m is the maximum it gets in Europe . At least in spain. More than 500m looses signal

Hi Kamil thanks for your amazing videos its actually got me back into the drone fun again and doing the mods. Im just wondering if you know on the Smart RC after the antenna mod , if the controller powers up and the external antenna are not connected will it harm the smart controller as no antennas connected?
Don’t start controller without antennas. You can try but i think you will destroy transmitter.
Those SMAs don't have enough thread going through the shell to seat the pins properly, this needs to be redone using proper bulkhead SMAs or you need to trim some of the material behind them so they can sit more flush against the housing.

Before replacing the antennas, the maximum distance was 500 meters, now I'm flying about 1 km. I will try soon on other antenna models. I ordered several models.

Ok here's my theory. So you change the antenna on the RC. Comms are required both ways, this is only unidirectional. So the drone itself is also tuned to respond at a set range.
You are right, even if the antennas in the controller were one meter long, the antennas in the drone should also be changed. Communication is always two-way, so this modification does not really help much.The next step is to modify the antennas in the drone :-).

@@kamiljdrone nice dissasembly useful for other projects, but you don't understand that higher db antennas have flatter radiation pattern and that you do not need to pair the drone antenna changes with the RC. Aliexpress antennas are often. a sham and need to be tested.
Hi, drilling the holes through the controller, I assume there is an obvious place for them to sit as it all closed up ok and no need to remove pieces of plastic to make them sit flat?
You need to drill holes in the right place, then there will be no problem.

As soon as this controller came out, the first thing I said is someone needs to figure out a way to add antenna's...to me the internal antenna's just didn't seem like they would be very reliable. It would be awesome to know if these made a major difference with like a range test or something.
In my case , the difference is three times more compared to the orginal antennas.

I think HX-Link 5dbi will be better for RC.
Similar distance/signal strength testing between the Mini RC & RC Pro controllers and Mini 3 Pro lead many to believe the limitations come from the Drone NOT controllers.
I believe this too - I fly my Air 2S and Mini 3 Pro with the same RC Pro controller and the Air 2S consistently outperforms the Mini 3 in range when flying in same environments. Improving the controller with external antennas should help in the general sense, but I don't know if it'll compensate for the drone's shortcomings to the point you'd notice an appreciable difference.

Without a comparative test conducted and included in the same video, then any modifications done is nothing more than a cosmetic appearance that will benefit no one rather than an improvement to performance that will help others. So that’s a good looking remote but it will be better if you add a tripod mount and an input for an external or outdoor, tower, roof or house mounted antenna.
Would you sell that modif. RC if anyone interested. Cos many are not knowing to do so. Hope you get my idea.

Nie wiem , są to dedykowane do Mavic Pro 1 a działają znakomicie z Mini3 więc możliwe że do Mini SE też pasują po przeróbce.

ya this RC is really want the antenna. The range is really bad compare to my standard Mavic air 2s RC
