    Breckenridge my favorite even though it’s full of tourist in the winter

      Yeah, it seems to become a suburb of Denver lately, but still fun.

    As you undoubtedly know, Ouray is just a few miles from Yankee Boy Basin. (The road to it does get a bit "scary" at times!)

    LOL! I loved how you said the Stanley hotel was used to film dumb and dumber and completely don't mention The Shinning.

    • @coloradonativeguide
      @coloradonativeguide  7 месяцев назад

      The hotel was the inspiration for the Shinning but was not filmed there. Stephen King stayed there and found inspiration from the hotel. Even though the movie was not filmed there, there was a mini series called the shining that was filmed at the Stanley

      “Shinning”? . . . Really? All *three* people managed to misspell ‘shining’? 🤪

    If I want to live next to a running water stream on my property, is there some area I should look at? I would want to set up hydro power :D

    • @altitudeiseverything3163
      @altitudeiseverything3163 4 месяца назад

      @@suntzu6122 That might not be allowed. Water rights in Colorado are very complex and state laws regarding them have undergone significant changes in the last few years. You would need to consult an attorney familiar with this particular issue. It may even vary according to which of the state’s 7 water boards have jurisdiction in the area where the property is located. When we bought a home here, we learned that we didn’t even have water rights to rainfall on our property; it was illegal for us to collect rainwater in a barrel to water a garden. Water in the western states is *serious* business, due to its scarcity!

    Silverton is not on here. I suppose it's less touristy, but the terrain around it is unreal

    Boulder and Colorado Springs are definitely *not* “mountain towns.”

    • @coloradonativeguide
      @coloradonativeguide  4 месяца назад +1

      No and yes.. yeah they may not be sitting in the mountains, and as someone who lived in the mountains for decades, we referred to anyone from those towns as flat landers, but have giving them a chance in the last few years they sit right at the edge of the mountains and offer more "mountain adventures" than some mountain towns, do, especially for tourists, so I included them.
