1. FAMILY HOME IN KARIM ABAD
🇵🇰 CHAPATI & OMELETTE

2. KARIM ABAD, HUNZA VALLEY - GILGIT
🇵🇰 BOILED YAK MEAT: Boil the meat for at least 3 hours in a broth with onions, ginger, garlic and salt
🇵🇰 YAK KEBABS: Marinate the meat with ginger-garlic juice, red chili powder, salt, lemon juice, garlic powder, vinegar and cooking oil. Skewer the meat and grill on charcoal for 30 minutes. Add cooking oil along the way.
🇵🇰YAK PULAO: Let rice sit in hot water for 30 minutes. Add the backbone meat and lower abdomen meat to a separate pot and cook for 30 minutes. Add onions, carrots, cumin, cumin leaves, tomato, pulao spices, chicken powder, coconut flesh, almonds, raisins, and sugar. Add the Yak stock (the water in the boiled yak pot). Add rice to this pot, cover it with a lid and cook for 20 more minutes. Put charcoal on the lid and continue cooking for another 20 minutes.
🇵🇰YAK MEAT WITH POTATOES: Place the meat in the pot. Add chopped onions, then a ginger-garlic salt mixture, and curry powder. Cover the pot and let it cook for 1.5 hours. Add tomatoes and potatoes. Let it cook simmer for 30 minutes and it's ready to serve.
🇵🇰 FRIED YAK HEART AND LIVER: Chop up the heart and the liver. Marinate with salt, ginger & garlic juice, lemon juice, and tika (BBQ spices). Mix well. Let it absorb the marination for 30 minutes. Deep fry for 5 minutes.

These Northern Pakistani videos have been my favourites for quite some time. Those mountains are just breathtakingly beautiful, the food is genuinely interesting and good. I never thought such region exists in Pakistan. I am also surprised how good English they speak in such a remote region.
100% literacy rate in Hunza
English is one of the two official languages in Pakistan.
you will be surprised to know that Hunza has highest literacy and people are really educated.
It's amazing about their English speaking skills! Heck! Even the shepherd was speaking English even though English is not his native tongue!
Everybody is making their guess.
The reason they speak good English is because of two reasons.
1) They've their own community schooling and their medium of education is English
2) They get foreign tourists so they it gives them incentive to improvise the language they learn in schools.

the logical conclusion is that it's irrational to even expect that in this context with this particular youtube channel. He responds to people but probably has to seriously prioritize answering the highest quality subscriber replies only. think logically before you casually slander someone's character. We're all imperfect and the type of stress taken on to do what Sonny does is not easy which is why most people don't even try to do it. It SEEMS easy but the logistics are daunting if you are not the right personality with the right skill sets

It's rugged, rough, and tougher than it looks. You will miss hot running water, electricity, and the internet, among other things.

As an Afghan war vet I have so much respect for the people that live in the 'Stans. Such a tough, traditional, and kind culture. Resilience is a common trait amongst them. I would love to go back some day as a tourist and not a Marine.

@@-jank-willson oh you mean the proxy forces fully funded and armed by the West? Yes they cause problems, as that is the objective. To destabilize, just like the US backed color revolutions. The immigration wave to Europe was the work of Soros and unelected EU officials. You can see how the real problems are starting in Europe due to their governments being lapdogs of US and EU governments, they have no sovereignty to determine their own affairs in this inane anti-Russian campaign, and their people are paying the price.
The local folk are so chill. Their dynamic with Sonny is unlike what we've seen between locals and guest in most other places. It's like they're a society of kinda toned-down but still funny Calvins. Those perfectly orchestrated awkward silences and the jolly banter. This is great.

Thoroughly enjoying these videos of northern Pakistan as a Tibetan. It's incredible to see people from a similar landscape, background, and region, it's unfortunate I cannot visit my motherland Tibet, but I am vicariously living through your videos. Interesting fact, yak is the national animal of the Tibet. Keep the videos coming!
This part of Pakistan used to be a part of the older Tibetan empire. This region even has one or two of the forts built by and for the Tibetan kings

Love from India! The hills of Hunza are a place where I would love to be. If the two countries make travel easy, I would go there today. The place and people are wonderful. The culture so unique. In many ways their ways of food so similar to Indian Himalayan reaxhes yet made so differently.
Again respect Sonny, it is absolutely beautiful how you went to one of the most isolated regions and brought it alive for us all. And love to people of Pakistan💛🧿

Hunza and this region is not isolated, people from this area are highly educated and representing all over Pakistan in different departments. There is zero crime rate and high literacy rate. Interesting fact people from this area still like to live according to their traditions.
He meant isolated as in, no hustle and bustle - not that they are illiterate.

Pakistan is a country filled with hundreds of different cultures, I hope that you will come back and experience other cultures of Pakistan too. Especially sindhi, balochi, sirayki, pashtoon, muhajir(karachi), sheedi, kalash, Lake dwellers of manchar, brahvi, kashmiris and many many more, and also I hope that you will explore punjab, hunza, skardu more. @Anthuvan Anbu no it's not. Pashtuns were categorised as Iranian and Afghani tribe people who are thought to have be Afghanis originally. They are one of the largest ethnic groups in Pakistan and the world to some extent and their arrival to Pakistan and Afghanistan alone dates back to the 13th century.
@Anthuvan Anbu actually about the religious part. They were buddhists before islam not jews. There are still statues of buddha found in afghanistan.
It’s amazing how this show connects different cultures by discussing
similarities between each cuisine. This opens up topics for discussion, shared history, customs and people.
Pakistan looks like a such a beautiful place, would love to go there one day and experience it for myself.

I am amazed by the english of the local teacher. She speaks it flawlessly!
English is one of the two official languages in Pakistan.
That place has 100% literacy rate & education in Pakistan is in English .
It may look very remote, but Gigit-Balistan (the northern mountainous province of Pakistan) is actually one of the most highly educated. It's a really interesting dynamic. People from the north are all over the country in very impressive professional positions, but when they go home they choose to live just like this as a matter of preference.

When I was deployed in Iraq, I never ate American food. They make the same type of recipes in a way, and it is out of this world - you're 100% right about using the stock for the rice* it is SO MUCH BETTER!
Also - in Iraq, they made a breakfast drink out of fresh, creamy milk, that they cooked in a pot on the stove, with egg, cinnamon, sugar, and (maple syrup-tasting) dates, that I very affectionately refer to as "French-Toast Milk" - and it is out of this world!
Food can truly bring the world together!!!

Because they are One of the Pamirian peoples, the Pamirian are an small ethnic minority. Pamirian live on the territory of Tajikistan Afghanistan Pakistan and China, Pamirians are most ambitious and developed peopl. I am from Tajikistan Pamir and i want to say Hello to my Hunzas brothers and sisters and i hope that somday ours paths to each other will open))

I think you only visited Lahore and northern areas of Pakistan but completely missed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and especially Peshawar and Chitral. Chitral is full of traditional culture, and Peshawar is full of a variety of cuisine. I wish I was in Pakistan and had taken you on a tour of Peshawar and Chitral. Anyway, thanks for coming to Pakistan.
