@@clarencenoeldiaz4614 That'd be a good point.. If it wasn't invalid. Honkai Impact 3rd is about 20GB in size, yet it has hundreds of cutscenes. Cutscenes don't take that much storage. If having so many cutscenes would bloat up storage, Honkai Impact should've been 120GBs. Games like Detroit: Become Human are pretty much playable movies, yet the game sets at 55GBs, which is much smaller than Genshin. It's not a matter of storage.
3:06 she WAS waiting for us. In the short opening section of the fontaine archon quest when we are in sumeru we see short glimpses of a fontainian npc listening in on our convo and running away, we later see the same npc by her side. Furina had obviously heard of our deeds and knew we would eventually go to fontaine in search of our sibling so she sent someone to watch us and inform her of our arrival. We have been established to be a sort of celebrity in this universe so it isnt too far fetched that furina had heard about us and was anticipating our entrance.
I guess so. Though he almost seems like a non character it's so brief. I looked back for a third time, Because contrary to what some people might believe, I actually went over these quests before writing the video, and did my research. Although your reasoning is sound, I'm having a hard time believing that the man also had to make the same trip the traveler did as well as getting ahold of hold of Furina, Who's home is clear across the map once you get into Fontaine, And letting her know that the traveler is here. It's still a huge leap in logic in my opinion. I think it would have been better if they used like a messenger pigeon or something, at least that would have made sense. Or a remote transceiver device of some kind.

@@AndrewSnakeoverall this video feels a bit nitpicky with a side of some small true critcism and forgotten important details Edit: like im surprized the video didnt spoke an inch about how weird was the attempted assasination of furina by alrecchino. Why did she do that? She thought furina had the gnosis, and what if furina actually used the gnosis if she did have it? Used it as self defence and completely turn fontaine anti fatui due to the attempted assasination? It just felt way too risky for trying to kill an archon. Except that it IS convenient that the man was following us in the first place. Why was he following us? How did he knew where we were? Since when did he follow us? The answer to all these questions is *plot.*. Its convenient either way. Also, how did she knew that we would come from that entrance? She had no way of knowing, plus it would seem simpler to go there from Chenyu Vale, but Chenyu vale was not released yet so it was impossible for us to come from that way even if it makes significantly more sense than to go through the whole desert.
Dude I love when I am slightly immersed in a story and they just throw in a huge black screen wall of text jumpscare that describes something instead of actually showing it, 13 paragraphs of an essay They actually keep doing it in Natlan too holy shit
The fact that Genshin needs to make the villains buddy buddy in order to make then playable is stupid as hell 💀💀💀 just let us play as the dickheads without redeeming them, especially if the method of redemption is very ineffective
that makes no sense still because they would have to work with voicelines which essentially, are lines of the character TO the traveler/mc. Hence they wouldn't hold conversations without trying to kill each other in most circumstances. Imagine how awkward the birthday lines will be.. This is a key thing consistent with every character and you are asking to break this for the name of harbingers.
@@idkwhy77 it worked perfectly in Star Rail. The biggest example is Blade. A killing machine that can go crazy at any possible second, yet there's plenty of voicelines between him and Trailblazer. Even though he's actively in the hunt to finish off one of the Trailblazer's best friends. He even made a cameo once where they had a brief but normal conversation once. (and only once), and that was to pay respect to a person they both know. Blade is still a very bad person who does very bad things. He's an irredeemable monster in the literal definition.
I felt the disconnect between lore and story ever since the ending of Inazuma storyline. It's like the writers want to tell better stories, but are only allowed to put them into snippets of lore tucked away in some random items descriptions and side quests a small percentage of players will even see.
The thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that during the “Bedtime Story” quest we finally meet our sibling in, if I remember correctly, Caribert’s memory. Then after we’re done talking to them they suddenly say that we won’t remember anything about this conversation with our sibling… How many years have passed since we last met our sibling? Over 3 years ago? Yeah that’s a really long time and we probably have to wait years to meet our sibling again in person.
1)Lyney and Lynette weren't advertising their magic show ,they were handing out magic pockets for spreading awareness about the prophecy 2) t3:06 correction there ,she WAS waiting for us the whole time.(also, we didn't just pop into fontaine, there was a whole sumeru section that i recommend you refresh your memory on) 3) 5:10 what? Childe was literally a central character in the fontaine plot. I'd say its good that they introduced him instead of any other harbinger. And knowing his lore, he will be getting a lot more exposition. 4) 6:10 blud did you not do sumeru or sumthin? 5) 9:16 wdym "whom we've never met before"? bro that literally is the thief girl from the port. 6) 14:04 each harbinger has their own agenda(and nor does any harbinger support any of their colleague's agenda) and there are 2 groups in the Fatui called the conservatives and the radicals. Some of them are indeed villains while some are not. 7) 16:35 nope...i for once agree with their animation choice here, feels creepy. Good and smooth animation doesn't make scary stuff. 8) 24:36 & 25:00 that's just plain wrong. What Rukkhadevata did and what Focalors did were very different things. 9) 25:35 and that's a real pity...most people playing genshin don't have the ability to resonate with the story...it is no one's fault really, some humans just cant feel as much as others do. 10) 27:28 bro did you fall asleep half way through act 5? Her sacrifice WAS the reason Neuvillette got his authority back and forgave the fontainians, resulting in them not dissolving. Also, Nahida mentioned that the heavenly principles had been inactive for the past 500 years or so. 11) Rest is not included in Fontaine so i'll speak on that next time. it is hard to like a story if you start judging it from the get go. Go dive into a story without any assumptions or expectations. The more you think "oh so the author is doing this for blah blah blah", the less you'll enjoy the story. Also yeah the boat part was kind of important ,although yes, act 3 was very boring i admit.
I don’t get his obsession with “the bigger picture” (or the Heavenly Principles for that matter), feels like it’s actively hurting his ability to pay attention to details.
On the 3d point: yes, he was a major part of Fontaine plot *because* the writers have previously chose him to be one. They could have chosen another character and built the plot around them. We still only saw less than half of the harbingers in the main story quests, we don't even know if the 10th exists. That could have beem a great opportunity to show a new character, for example Sandrone, who is supposedly from Fontaine. They could have been there helping Arlecchino save Fontaine. But nope, the writers decided to build everything around a harbinger we already seen plenty who just so happened to be in Fontaine. And yeah yeah Childe has lore connections to Narwhal but they could have just said smth like "this is the whale 11th talked about" or even just have him be there *with* Sandrone or some other Fatui. on 8th point: yeah obv they are different... in details. Stripped to the very base theme though, these are benevolent goddesses sacrificing themselves to save their nations from a cataclysm and leaving behind a "newbie" that doesn't know how to fill their shoes. They are very similar *thematically*, not in details. They are both dealing with themes of insecurity of being/playing a "god" (Furina and Nahida), being imprisoned whether literally or metaphorically (Nahida, and Furina in her 'role'), sacrifice, injustice from the people they protect (the trial of Furina, the betrayal of Nahida). In both stories they "erased" bits of themselves from the world, Rukkhadevata erased her memory, and Focalors "erased" her throne. So while yes, obv the details are different, there are definitely similarities between the two stories and if you can't see it that's on you. on 9th point: Im generally a very sensitive person. Cried on almost all sad quests of Genshin. Focalrs' story pissed me the fuck off, because it really felt like they were mashing the pity button way too hard. The intent to make me sad for Focalors was way too obvious and in the face to work and it just got me annoying instead. The fact some people don't like to be told "feel this way not that way" by the story doesn't mean they feel less. Idc about other points and I don't particularly care about the og creator or the video itself, just felt like addressing these particular points because, well, that's not how storytelling works. It's flexible, not set in stone, as an author you can put different pieces of the story in different places, adjusting as needed and swapping them with each other if you feel like it. You can write a story, then think "actually, it would be neat if I put another character in this bit" and *rewrite* the story accordingly so everything still works. And little lore details do not matter nearly as much as themes, tone, characters, and pacing.
@@BruceWayne-sw5xe On the 3rd point: Well ,not just the Narwhal, Skirk and Surtalogi are also linked to him, there's a reason his combat style is called "Foul Legacy". Keeping aside this,Childe's actual name is Ajax, which is also mentioned in the Narzissenkreuz world quest-line. I would highly recommend checking out the lore behind the name "Ajax". You would know how important childe is to the lore, especially compared to someone, say,the regrator. Also, the very reason he was in Fontaine WAS because he was finding his master. On the 9th point: That is highly subjective, for example,i didn't feel that emotional during the Nahida and Rukkhadevata scene(although the music did make me feel it a lil bit later). The guy was very objective with this point,so I pointed out that this topic was completely subjective. On the 8th point: Well, the base themes are similar and should be similar given the similar circumstances. And Natlan also is going to follow this theme of sacrifice too. But I don't see this as a negative tbh. Even though the base thene is same, the story itself is very very different. Also Fontaine's act 5 is entirely based upon the Bible. You could check out the biblical refrences if you want to. If you think it's too similar then maybe the real life story Sumeru and Fontaine are based on are also kind of similar.
@@cancer5950 on the 3d point: again, all of this is fully controlled by writers. The lore details, the connections, the reason behind Childe neing in Fontaine, all of it. What even is the point of making 11 harbingers if they only are going to make a few of them *actually* important and relevant to the main plot? They could have planned it all differently and adjusted the lore so that each one of them has importance and someone else had connection to Fontaine *or another part of the story*. For example, they could have introduced Childe in Fontaine and have Pantalone be in Liyue story. It would be more fitting considering he is the richest of them so he would look better throwing money away on quests, and has more hatred towards the Archons than Childe. They could have written it so Childe appears as a heavy hitter in the end of Liyue quest and then revealed more about him in Fontaine. Or not have him appear at all before Fontaine. Then it's actually reasonable to have traveler be suspicious of Lynney and Lynette as they wouldn't have a fatui buddy. This is all very easily adjustable if they just planned ahead better. On 8th: I dont particularly think that Fontaine having a similar story to Sumeru is bad, it's the closeness of two very similar *thematically* stories that kind of makes it "Eh, I've already seen how this one goes". There is nothing bad in having similar themes, all of humanity's stories all stem from one, it's the closeness of them to each other that makes it boring. On 9th: never said it's not subjective. Again, Im not here to argue in favor of the video itself, Im arguing against the points the comment OP presented, and in particular the "some people feel less" one. - no, just because some people do not resonate with some story bit doesn't mean they feel less. There is a tonn of reasons why someone might not resonate with a story. I know it's very relevant to Genshin lore, it is no wonder as it is all about different gods and religion. One of Sumeru quests is literally called a "King Deshret and the Three Magi" which is obviously homage to the three sages that visited Mary. Just because they are pulling from the same resource doesn't mean they have to have the same story arc? It's not like there is only one story in the bible. There is the Eve and Adam, the Cain and Abel, the Tablets of the Law (which yk, would be interesting considering Fontaine is the land of *Law*), and many more. I don't see how Bible is in any way relevant to the argument here.
You know what's worse with Genshin's villains? MiHoYo is actually really good at making villains. Look at HI3. Some of the villains there are some unsympathetic basterds and you just want to take them down. So I have no Idea what happened with Genshin. Besides the Doctor, we don't have much of full evil villains. At least it's not as bad as FGO's villains.
@@gamingduoz2164 granted most of those villains aren’t playable as the CCP, something that affects games like HI3 and Genshin, states that you can’t play “evil characters” like Frieza or Sukuna. So the really bad guys are out of the question but the mildly evil characters like Childe or Wanderer are okay. Genshin has potential, we’ve seen it with HI3 and HSR (Sunday was great), it’s just that GI had different people calling the shots.
Well, there's Rhinedottir/Gold.. she's pretty sketchy, and so is Dainsleif. I like Enjou from Enkanomiya because he's an NPC which means he's not limited to what heinous stuff somebody could do in Teyvat. Genshin Impact makes pretty interesting antagonists in NPCs who can be outright bastards yet can't do the same with the main cast for reasons.
7:58 i agree. Navia should have been involved much earlier and had more involvement with the investigation. Since her organization investigates crimes she should have offered to take over the investigation when lyney was sentenced to court. Which of course without context would be suspicious until you learn her reasons. She could then either ask the traveler for help or have the traveler themselves offer to help. The trail cutscene probably should have been left without any involvement from the traveler as the traveler isn't a real lawyer.
Sorry I stopped to comment on 3:08 where you said too convenient. A spy from Fontaine was following the Traveler in Sumeru, like, the majority doesn't notice this. They EVEN had a sequence juxtaposing the spy with Furina, are people even seeing the same archon story?
I've also been made aware of this. In my previous video I mentioned how NPC's are terribly designed. Because of this stupid gotcha games designs the extras look just like that, extras. Furthermore, you're telling me this guy managed to make the same trip we did but also at the time to notify Furina!? Mind you, Frina lives at the Capitol, While where we meet her is at the border of Fontaine. This trip would take at least half the day to make. Farina is not running the gauntlet to the border with her entourage. While I'll take the L on this one for sure it just seems rather strange. It would have worked considerably better if it was like a messenger pigeon or something... instead of just... a guy.
The problem is, this is introduced almost in the same breath as the reveal. Like, barely 10-15 minutes earlier. This isn't a good setup, it's still convenience but of a different kind. The same shit they pulled with Xiao and Zhongli in the chasm. A well made setup would've been if the "spy" was introduced in a previous patch, or just a lot longer before. Here's an example of where Genshin did a good setup (one of the very few times): Sumeru Act 5 has a bunch of plot twists and misdirections, but they don't feel "convenient" because we were made aware since the previous patch that they were planning an infiltration.
This is going to be a very long read. Upon re-watch of this video, I just noticed something was missing.. And I'll explain how it could've been vital to the arc of Fontaine. Furina's love for plays and drama. When Furina was advertised.. She was shown to have a flair for the drama, not only being a fan of stage plays, but also having starred in many plays herself, which explain why she's adored as a celebrity. But we don't see that, we seen Furina attend trials more than she attends plays. The one time we see Furina in a "play" is during her "All the World's a stage" trailer.. And it's not even a canon thing. And I wouldn't take anything her "Character Story" walls of text seriously, because supposedly Furina is incompetent in court. The opposite of what we saw in the story. Now, how to tie this in the story? Use it to build up the ending of course. Starting with giving people an actual reason to question her. Now, the only reason people "suspect" her is because of ridiculous excuses like "We never see her do any Archon work!" as if we see any Archon doing any work. and "she acts different from the other Archons" excuse people picked from Arlecchino. As if most of the Archons we saw so far weren't in disguise mode, and the only one who wasn't was Raiden Shogun who did act in a similar, overly dramatic way to Furina in the scene where she's first shown in public, taking Thoma's Vision. But do we have an actual reason to suspect Furina isn't the Archon? She's been in charge for 500 years, and we hear about all the amazing things coming from Fontaine and that people are happy and taken care of. But the player is never given an actual reason to suspect Furina at all.. Because we barely see her compared to Neuvillette and Navia who we see at least three times as much. Imagine if for once, we get to meet the Archon from the get go, instead of just a grand entrance, we get to have her give us a fancy tour in Fontaine and we get to know her.. To get to befriend her, to know what she likes, and see her fixation on plays as a foreshadowing to a poetic ending, while giving the player the false assumption that she does nothing but plays and eat cake all day. Imagine how gut wrenching it would be to grow fond of Furina, yet still having to stand against her in the final trial. To turn against her in an ironic desire to save her from the prophecy because we believe she really wasn't the Archon. At least we'd have a reason to want to save Fontaine, instead of having the person who couldn't care any less about the missing women, suddenly wanting to save all of Fontaine. AND we get a fresh take, befriending an Archon immediately yet having to turn against said Archon for what we assume is for her own, and everyone else's benefit.
My favourite part of Act 3 is how fucking useless the boat turned out to be during the flood. Picks up like... 5 guys and literally 2 seconds later the waters recede and everybody's safe. Hours of useless filler for this. Thanks, Wriothesley.
The thing to me is genshin explains most of things very vaguely, such as "childe is in odds w/himself so cant use vision" and the sorts. To me this is lazy world building, like, things dont have a proper explanation for being the way they are, they just explain to us "this is how it is, now accept it". Also those "explanations" many times use magnificent and also vague words, wich makes it really confusing when they use similar words for completely unrelated things. This makes people go creating theories and whatsoever thinking they meant this or meant that (and i used to go on that hype) when in reality most of it its just overthinking or just don't have a way of making sense
My issue with Genshin Impact story is that, it’s way more interesting when told by a different person. The only reason I started Genshin was because of a RUclipsr a lore RUclipsr to be exact, and the most fun I had in Genshin, was waiting for them to cook up another theory wich is really saying something. (Just to be clear I wrote this before the Natlan update)
Lmao true. And for HSR, it is more interesting if you watched the trailers and played SimUni, otherwise you will be clueless. Oh hoyo, why not just include these stuffs in the main story.
@@jerryeljeremy7790 It's a double-edged sword, if HSR did put aeon lore etc in the main story, more people would complain about the pacing and say it's too boring. Put it behind optional side content and people will skip it and then be all ????? when they don't understand the story. I actually enjoyed the 1.0 Xianzhou chapter BECAUSE I took the time to talk to every NPC and read every readable, including the infamously crucial Dan Shu's diary which I'm willing to bet the majority of players didn't bother to read. But if all that was mandatory, people would hate Xianzhou even more than they already do. It's a tough balancing act.
Hearing "Furina was tricked into attending a trial, where she has to defend herself from her people. But unfortunately she ended up breaking down defeated as she couldn't prove her innocence." does sound incredible on paper, especially when the execution was.. Far from appealing.
But you are 1000% correct that the story and the lore dont match, there this...connection that is way too thin between then, like there different teams working on the lore and characters, and yet ANOTHER team then writing how to show the story in the game, which shines as a collection of character stories. But they aint some kinoko nasu to tie in the lore, the characters, and show their development in a satisfying way, too restrained by its format as a live service game with a super fast patch cycle for the amount of stuff they have to make.
You are absolutely correct. One major example is the House of Hearth. You never hear about it in the main story or any story quests, and suddenly it's thrown in Fontaine and Traveler suddenly knows what it is. You have to do some time gated obscure and very hidden series of quests to learn about it, and you learn that it's a place where children are forced to be Fatui. However, Traveler has a selective memory and only focus on the fact that it belongs to the Fatui but not the fact that children are turned into Fatui against their choices. If you don't know the lore, you'd be confused. And if you do, you'd be disappointed because they never mention that they were orphans that were exploited.
@@cancer5950 that proves my point. It was introduced much before. I think in 2.4 in a hidden quest unofficially named "Gendou Ringo's Strange Fortune Slips", it's a long and tedious mess, and you never get any hint that exists. And you have to do some time gated steps to unlock it.
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض I was just talking about a major world quest. My point wasn't just that it was introduced before,my point was that it was involved in a major world quest in the nation just before Fontaine.
It being a live service game is not the issue there are plenty of other live service games that have no issue with trying their lore to the story. The real problem is that the writers are not on the same page. Hsr has a similar problem it resulted in an entire patch just not mattering.
Oh yeah, on a different, different topic. Your question in the very start of the video was actually answered. All the way back at the 1.0 arc. We had an event at.. 1.4 I think? Where we meet an Oceanid named Endora, who gave lore bits about Rhodeia and Fontaine to an extent. Consider it retconed to a great extent. They claimed that Oceanids were the spies of the previous Hydro Archon, who wanted to connect the world together. But when she "passed away", many or most Oceanids decided to leave Fontaine because they didn't want to accept the new Hydro Archon. Rhodeia was one of them. She came to that spot to live in peace (even though she tries to murder anyone who steps there), and the reason she's that way is because she's fearing that the new Hydro Archon would send an assassin after her, so she never takes any chances. However, some of the content has been retconed, such as Oceanids having been turned to "humans" not adding up with the fact that other Oceanids not turning to into "humans" for some reason. That and the fact that you do meet the Spring Fairy in Springvale, who turns out to be an Oceanid too. However, some event about poems heavily retconed that by stating that the "Spring Fairy" has left Springvale and hasn't returned in years before you showed up.. I figured it was yet another retcon because she doesn't recognize Traveler despite meeting prior.
Honestly genshin is not same anymore the joy is no longer can be found i skiped half of Fontaine story and directly to natlan story .but its just dull i still remember teppai the anger to beat the shit out of scaramouch ,i can't feel emotional attachment to the characters of the story in the fontaine .i don't know why i can't feel it .And i don't like when our main character is just passively thrown into some nations problem it is not our problem to save their nation. @@natalia-fm it gets worse. She is hyping up the prophecy, acting as if she really believes in it or that it caused her some damage. @@nitroblaze6696 I mean she is an archon tho. Original Focalors separeted herself into divine part (Focalor that died) and human part (Furina). So the guy in the video is literally wrong💀
Everyone’s missing the point. Neuvilette has some of the hydro archons authority but the throne of the hydro archon doesn’t exist anymore. Thats mostly the whole point of Focalors plan. Furina has no divinity in her. She’s a human. That’s why she needs to use a vision. There is obviously no hydro archon
Like other comments point out, your points here are very pisspoor and, despite claiming to do so, you did not do your research. Flaws begin 3:06 at the earliest. The original vid was fine, and even the Sumeru one despite a few problems, but by this point, you truly are just a wannabe Genshin version of "I Hate Everything". It's like no matter what Genshin does, it's straight up "failure". "But I said I liked some things", as if that cancels out how you just do not like 99% of everything else. On a different topic, in your previous video, you talked about how disappointing the Doctor was because they scrapped the original one for this new version. I am disappointed for a different reason. The concept of the Doctor having clones of himself from different ages literally came out of nowhere, but it was still promising. I did make speculation about how incredible the boss fight would be if you had to fight different versions of him simultaneously, each having a different fighting style. Giving us a boss focused on numbers instead of one unit with too much HP. But unfortunately, it also went nowhere. When the Doctor "left" Sumeru on boat, it turned out to be a decoy using one of his "clones".. But you can't tell because they used the same exact model. They cheapened out instead of throwing a twist like having the Manga Dottore show up, or a completely new version. Moreover, they just scrapped it all together.. New Dottore just magically deleted off all his clones in a black screen with nothing but random voices.. How? Did he install kill-switches in them or what? Then again, they never explained how he was back in Tatrasuna centuries ago to mess it up. I thought his thing that he has clones of himself from different times of his life, not that he's outright ageless. Then again, that's as unexplained as his magical ability to shape shift as a random NPC in the "plot twist" when it was revealed he'd the one who manipulated Scaradouche all along.
Hopefully this time the comment will actually show... Anyway, that comment chain by "@shadowpriest2574"...? The last comments only show up when you choose "New first".
Bro, omg, I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like that. They used it as an excuse to get the Gnosis and I pointed it out and everyone crapped on me for it.
@@wifi961 This is gonna be a long reply, but if you took your time to think about it.. *You'll notice that each Gnosis scene is worse than the last.* Anemo: Venti who manages to overpower Dvalin to save him with minimum harm, gets overpowered by Signora. (People make the argument that Venti was defeated because he wasn't in people's presence for so long, but same can be said about Nahida being locked away for 500 years and holding herself against Scaramouche.) Geo: Zhongli has signed a contract to give away his Gnosis. Tough but fair.. Except for the part where the contract has a non-disclosure agreement. Why would the contract have a clause that pretty much says. "If some Traveler from another world happens to figure out your secret identity, you're not allow tell them anything lmao" Electro: Scaramouche confronts you in a room, and uses this unknown unexplained never brought up again black smoke that makes angry people pass out, and Miko just happens to show up. If you waste your time paying attention to the millions of text pieces scattered around, you'd learn that Miko is more powerful than she appears to be. That she can easily dispose of Scaramouche. So why is she just handing him the Gnosis, the one thing her "best friend" Ei entrusted her with, on a silver plate? Dendro: You mentioned the first issue, here's the second. Remember the unexplained, never brought up again black smoke that just happens to be there to make the Traveler pass out? How about an unexplained, never brought up again whistle that makes anyone that isn't the Dendro Archon pass out? The same plot device twice in a row. To make it worse, why did Nahida have to give him anything? Her speciality is that she can read minds, so why did the Archon of Wisdom not be wise and just read his mind instead of giving him TWO Gnosis? And if Irminsul can tell her everything about the world, why would it not include the Fatui? And the most infuriating.. Hydro: Nevueltte sees someone HE NEVER MET BEFORE, start making outrageous claims, and tells him to get rid of something he knows to be extremely powerful (Let's forget the fact that the Gnosis should be useless since the Hydro Throne is gone), and he decides.. Not to return the Gnosis to its rightful owner (This is the guy who says law above all or whatever), he doesn't give it to the Traveler.. He hands it to the Fatui. And that's what killed it for me.. It's always the Fatui. It's never the Traveler, it's never lost or destroyed, it's never kept by the Archon, it's always taken by the Fatui.
@@wifi961 Ever since Inazuma, I was hoping for a change. That for once someone else gets the Gnosis. I was extremely thrilled that Nahida had not one, but TWO of them. But that was shortlived when she gave them away just like that. I honestly don't buy the whole "Nahida couldn't beat Dottore" thing either. Scaramouche in a mecha powered by the Electro Gnosis is a far more dangerous threat, but she won by trapping him in a Samasra she made, and he wasn't even aware. She could easily do the same to Dottore, but Genshin loves to rely on forced plot devices
What i found offensive about the fontaine story was the fact that the house of hearth was such a massive story beat to the fontaine story quest but it was first mentioned through a day by day hidden quest in inazuma during a sumeru update instead of being explained properly during the archon quest
They act like you should know what it is. Those who don't know what the House of Hearth is would be confused, especially since they namedrop it but never explain it in the trial. And those who know what it is would be pissed, not only because being a Fatui had nothing to do with the trial, but also because you learn that it's a place where children are manipulated into becoming Fatui. Children who didn't know any better. And we act like Lyney is at fault because of it?
What do you mean ? Was it not implied repeatedly what it was for quite some time? Like....did we not believe that Arle was evil explicitly because she was running an organization that took orphans and made them into weapons for the Fatui? I am not saying you are wrong, but I never had any questions about what the House of the Harth was during the Fontaine AQ.
@@shadowpriest2574 That would've been fine if it was suggested within the AQ and not outside; The problem with the HoH introduction is that the exposition wasn't mentioned at all in the Archon Quest only in side content; worse thru a hidden quest . So for players strictly following the main AQ without doing side content in between, the HoH comes out of nowhere during the Fontaine chapter. It feels like the writing assumes players were consuming side quests between AQ updates, but this creates an unnatural progression for new and returning players who just want to experience the Fontaine AQ before diving into side content. None of the pertinent quests about it were even required prior the playing the chapter What I mean to say is that the story exposition for key story elements like the HoH should be woven into the main questline, ensuring it fits the story's pacing and doesn't require players to explore side quests to get vital context.
as longtime players we tend to forget this, but this actually applies to most plot points. For example, Oceanids are never properly presented in the Fontaine quest. You are just assumed to have fought the boss one. The concept of "Dragon Sovereigns" too. It's a rather obscure lore point but the protagonist just... knows, despite whatever quests you've done or not done prior. It's like the game just wants to have its plot *in spite* of the player. It doesn't bother to explain anything, the plot just chugs on with or without you and you're supposed to keep up with it by Googling answers
@@CorelUser that reminds me of the first time we met dain we got flashbacks from a trailer that not everybody watched and the traveller just starts mentioning it like everyone's already on the same page
Whenever they release a new nation, it's almost like everything we knew about it before no longer applies. Do they really have fixed story, or are they writing it as it goes? 🤔
They r writing it as it goes becuase there r alot of times where the info we got before region release does not match up when its released. Them changing the gender of dendro archon, them changing the entire natlan theme.
I also believe they're writing it as it goes (to an extent), that's probably why the useless floating gremlin never tells us about any Nation before we go to it. Imagine if she actually acted like a guide and hyped us for what to come instead of being even more clueless than we are.
@@masterk429 From what I heard the gender of the Dendro Archon was a misstranslation. But yes, they obviously change things around, like the fact that Rhodeia was ignored and same for Idia , the oceanid before Fontaine even releases. These 2 Oceanids are like a prelude for what is to come , except that nothing in Fontaine has anything to do with them.
@@shadowpriest2574 yep thats what makes the entire genshin story trash for me. Atleast they should keep true to their word how hard could that be but they refuse to do that. Thats why now the entire stories are just useless yapping fest for me.
Sadly with Childe the hostility that would realistically be there is relegated to timed events. If you go by the main stuff he’s forgiven way to quickly. Scaramouche is still a total prick but he’s written in line of a tsundere. Not wanting anything to with Lyney and Lynette after the trial I feel makes sense because this would’ve been the third - if you did the event where you meet Scaramouche - time where they’ve been approached by a Fatui member under the guise of being a friend, and while Lyney and Lynette didn’t try to fight/kill Aether/Lumine they still got ousted during the trial where they’re sticking their neck out for them. But yes it’s awkwardly written, which I feel Fontaine in general suffers from. The only thing to come out of the Fortress was the giant Noah’s Arc ripoff and even it fails in mattering because it only shows up at the very end after everyone had died *and* been resurrected.
thank goodness, im not the only one that also notice how much of a filler the fortress was. Pretty much hurts the last scene of focalors death and furina's struggle because...i didnt care or more like i could not care, could have been better if we had more screen time with furina or join us on the fortress. Another thing, rip wrio and sigewinne i was actually hype and intrested...BUT GUESS WHAT? nothing happens with them! they pretty much get cut off from the story. The story arc (at least wrio, already quit when sigewine dropped) wasnt even that good either, only good part was the last and it just backstory moment..pretty boring, like im pretty sure 90% of fanfics done a better job with wriothesley's character than genshin lmao. Some people said "why so press over a gacha game of all thing" but when genshin is... you know pretty big and popular for a gacha... you kinda expect something actually big... so is it pretty silly to be dissapointed?
Genshin needs to implement real skip button like wuwa.. but ironically wuwa took animation to the next level, but not so far in the story point of view
Fontaine was good right until it treats it's best character (Furina) as complete shit. In the trial, not one person tried to stop someone who was willingly to hurt and even die to protect a ""farse"". Not a single though was spared for Furina and that's saying something. The writers have desperately tried to make Furina repent for something that wasn't even her choice and have tried to actively worsen her character in her own story quest. But it doesn't matter, as she still stands as one of the best written characters in Genshin period and stupid ass Paimon and traveller are dumb mfs and cant' change that.
Tbh, traveller is just in teyvat to look for their twin, they're just thrown into all the dramas with the archons simply because they wanted to ask questions of where their twin is. Traveller is probably starting to get tired of just running errands around for others while receiving no clue of their twin from any archon, which is why theyre behaving this way. As much as I love Furina(shes my fav character), I kinda can see why traveller would react in such a way, they probably just want to get things done :/
@@Hotaru_ko yeah I understand that but the traveller was the sole witness of Furina's true suffering and he/she doesn't have an ounce of empathy for her? At the very least make the traveller more defensive of Furina's actions when Paimon continues to put salt on the wound. Tbf for the writers, they seem to acknowledge Furina's true strengths in the voice lines of other archons, but that its not represented in game at all (for now at least) and the only one who actually is grateful to Furina is Neuvillete (As he was told everything by Focalors). Clorinde story quest at least seems to be a small step in the right direction (Even with Paimon present....)
@@Ultimate_Silicium that's a very great point. The traveller could've been more defensive and I wished they were. All I can chalk it up to at the end of the day is that the traveller has probably gotten sick and tired of the issues surrounding them that led them to behave this way. The defense I stated above isn't even a good defense as I myself don't even agree with what I just said. If only the writers tried to have traveller help her more, the story would def be more bearable for other fans
@@Hotaru_ko I guess that's what four years of looking for your slibing in Teyvat does to a mf 😂 In all seriousness yeah the Traveller is tired, but he/she knows what happened and could at the very least make Paimon back off a bit.
@@Ultimate_Silicium Man, I agree with you. I knew that the trial was important (even though one of the dialogues heavily contradicted it's importance), but it was frustrating how one sided it was. Like the water test. Traveler: If you're the real Hydro Archon, touch the water that will dissolve people. (although we don't even know how that will prove you're the Hydro Archon.) Furina touches the water and she's not the Hydro Archon because she was.. Scared? Even when she throws great objections, she gets ignored, while when Traveler uses empty words like Arlecchino's "Intuition", it's used as hard evidence.. Even though it's the words of the lady who told Traveler "Lol, I attacked Furina and traumatized her"
what i sometimes feel like with the story, is that its too fast? well some parts are too slow, some are perfectly time, but some are just too fast, and those parts that are too fast are most likely the most important parts. If I could add a little more to the fontaine story to make it better, I'd extend the part where you say goodbye to your sumeru friends by a little and maybe add some more reasoning why we should go to fontaine (like natlan is right there, what is the reason not to go there), and add more to the end of the story by having another part with focalors by showing us that time she was beneath the sea just thinking (like what she said, show, dont tell) and more with focalors so we could have that attachment with her like you said heck, that cutscene of "sinner's finale" was really good and emotional, but damn would I be sobbing for days if we were given a ledge to grasp who focalors is and get attached to her, for her to inevitably execute herself
Saying goodbye to our friends kinda felt insulting.. We just happened to run into Dehya and they casually drop the excuse that "Oh, we always leave without saying goodbye".... Why? What's the reason? Plus, I'm pretty sure we said goodbye to Amber and Venti before we left, so that logic doesn't add up ?
Hm, I see, fair points and opinions, it’s a shame you feel this way, hopefully the Storytelling improves enough as it goes, Also, while I see what you mean about Focalor, however the small amount of time we spent with her and learned about her, was enough for me to consider her as one of my favorite Characters, I just respect Characters that managed to fool Gods, I guess. Anyway, Sumeru and Fontaine both didn’t have any lead up to them, really? Has that been the thing for just these two? ‘Cause I am certain the other previous Regions had lead ups to them, unless I am wrong? By the way, i wonder what you might think of Honkai Impact 3rd’s Story?
Furina's story was decent, my problem with it was the limited animations that it was given. Although, that's always been a gripe of mine. From a purely writing standpoint her story was good. However, it's tainted by the fact that it's almost a 1 for 1 with Nahida's. "Anyway, Sumeru and Fontaine both didn’t have any lead up to them, really?" I guess it really depends... there was some lead up in the previous update. Before Sumeru Nahida briefly spoke to the traveler. But that's it. Canonically the Traveler will spend months doing various things around that the regions; will take part in the lantern rite and other various activities before we even think about moving on to the next region. Yes, the in-game reason is that the map isn't finished and hasn't been developed yet. But what about the story? Why is it that we sit around months on end doing nothing? The travelers' overall goal is to make it to the next region and discover what happened, and learn the secrets of Tavat. For newer players that are going to be able to binge the game without waiting for the other updates it will be seamless almost... however, for the rest of us who have to sit here and play through events for months on end, it almost seems like there's no bridging connection between one area to the next.
In part, and specially in sentiment, I absolutely agree with alot of what you have to say, but I think parts of the critique felt a little, malicious, for the lack of a better term, kinda like you decided something's bad or just personally disliked it before thinking about the nuance and forming the reasoning after the fact, but I don't wanna dismiss the entire analysis due to it, Genshin's main story is extremely flawed and deserves criticism and I want it to get better and more engaging too, so I highly appreciate your efforts on that front.
Duly noted. Part of the reason is my own malice but another part of it is the youtube meta of angry youtuber. I could be nonchalant about it. A bit monotone if you will, but I don't think that would be as engaging or entertaining to watch. Personally.
I liked Fountain's main story (except meropide). It's not perfect at all, but still. I liked the first part (before meropide), it really felt like Navia's story, but it also introduced us to Fountain overall and did it well. Meropide felt very boring for me. I actually dropped the game here for some time. I really felt like I am being in jail and I actually don't remember what was this part about, one of the worst arcs of the game for me. And everything after the meropide felt pretty decent, especially everything that was about Navia and Furina. It all depends on person what he needs to enjoy the story. For me it's characters and I like when there's somebody near except Paimon, because the main character is not a character at all. I want to watch a story about people that looks alive, not about silent dummy and it's stupid made to repeat everything emergency food. What I actually hate is time limited events. It's seems like you don't play it, but for some time they felt better than archon quests sometimes and people were complaining that they need to watch it on RUclips. But in 4.0+ versions I don't feel like I would recommend somebody to do it. They are nothing. The only one that I liked was about muskets. Characters stories also feel like they are useless, especially when they are more about npcs that will never appear in future and not about the characters that they should be about. They need to be talked about because of it's more than half of the content in the game. I heard that genshin impact didn't meant to be that long from the start. Hoyoverse wanted to finish the plot in like 5 years, but since the game became so popular they slowed down it and created a lot of time limited events and characters that are not even exist in the main plot. It may be untrue, but it feels like it.
I believe I heard the same. The original plan was 5 years. When they said it'll be 10.. I expected it to make the story longer and flesh it out.. But we're four years in and 2 thirds of the way in the story. So I'm not sure if the statement was true.
The entire meropide plotline was pure convenience, childes visions breaking was pure convenience that wasn't given a satisfactory explanation. This entire quest was pure convenience
@@Ben-vg6ox Now that I think about it. You're right. I thought the Vision thing happened because something was up with the Archon.. And it would be amazing if they did something like Hydro Visions being temporarily disabled as a result. (Think Ei battles but exclusive to Hydro Visions), and after the conclusion, Neuvillette decide to let people keep their Hydro powers. But nope, nothing. Same with Childe being sent to jail. Sure, him picking a fight with Neuvillette is in character, but out of nowhere he is the next suspect without any build up or reason. He's just accused of it for story's sake. We don't even know how he was arrested.. Or why he'd let himself be arrested to begin with

Politically speaking she was the archon. Please don’t rely on the EN translation for lore. It makes more sense if you check out other languages too.

You probably heard this before, and honestly it is a tall order to juggle so many Gacha games at once, but if you got the time, try ZZZ for a change of pace. It doesn't have the same budget or team size as Genshin, but it's clearly Quality over Quantity. And if you will, there are three things I want you to keep in mind. 1 - The Protagonists are characters. Not in the sense that they feel like some characters in the story as opposed to empty vessels like Traveler that just stand there, but in the sense that they behave like two different people. The big brother is the generic tall HoYo male (Stoic, calm, serious), and the little sister is very lively and expressive in comparison. So I'd recommend the latter if you really want a breath of fresh air. 2 - The story is well-paced, and chapters are well-connected together. Sometimes they introduce new characters, but to avoid hurting the pace of the story by ignoring the sense of urgency or having too many characters at once, the focus stay on either the main goal or few characters at a time, while those who took a backseat get their time to shine in their own Agent Stories (Character Story Quest equivalent), and they're all amazing. (With the Grace one being a bad exception. It is terribly written) 3 - The protags actually have their own goal in the story, one that they constantly remind you of. It's not properly revealed until the end of chapter 4, which doesn't justify the being overly secretive trope, but at the very least they remind you that they do have their own goal every now and then. And when it's revealed what it is they want, it'll leave you intrigued. It'll show that there's actually more to the two protagonists. That they have their own story, and not just following the stories of other characters. Personally, I'd recommend taking your sweet time and enjoy the game at your own pace. So far there's no limited time event that had a significant role in the story like Genshin often does, and the events that has character appearances are either side stories that have nothing to do with the main story, or simply tease what's coming next without making you feel like you missed out on anything.
Yep, I've been playing it! Sadly though, I haven't been playing it as much as of recent. I simply don't have the time between all these games. But I'll try to get back into it. So far I've been enjoying the game though!
@@greenlineessays then here's the most important advice. Take your sweet time. Remember that you're playing ZZZ for your own personal entertainment and not for the sake of game comparison. Like they say, work hard, player harder. Just never forget to take some personal breaks for you to relax and do what you feel like doing, it's good for your health.
Something else I love about the game is the character hangouts aren’t arbitrarily locked behind character ranking, you can hangout with any character as long as you have them and it gives you a much better feel for their personalities, rather then “x” character just disappearing for months at a time or barely interacting with the protagonists.
@@thomasraines1396 It's absolutely incredible how much hangouts can teach you about a character. Nicole for example appear all greedy, a lot. With some subtle hints that she genuinely cares about the people around her. Then thanks to some of the hangouts by the noodle stand, it's revealed that Nicole spends most if not all her hard earned Dennies on the kids of her orphanage. That is honestly a double edged sword. While it teaches you more about Nicole, unfortunately it has the same issue as Genshin/Star Rail where you have to go look up the online teasers to get the context. I wish they'd have these trailers in game, because some of them hold significant information about the characters. Alas, when it comes to Nicole, she's turned to ZZZ's Itto, aka the protag's punching bag.
@@greenlineessays And then he comes back just for her to not appear. What doesnt make sense to me if the problem was that he isnt strong enough, why would she talk(albeit a low amount) to his 14 yr old no combat experience self? Idk feels like plot convience
one thing I have to add to the Furrina being referenced as the hydro archon after the main story quest is that her and Folcalor are one in the same, it's just that Furrina is the human part of her while Folcalor is the Divine part of her, so even tho Folcalor died, a part of her still lived on and I think that is why Furrina is still refered to as the Hydro archon bcs she technically is, also if I remember correctly. That's just my opinion tho and I could be wrong.
that's Fair. It could honestly be that. Based off of gameplay of the traveler though I assumed the role of Archon (At least from the position of power.) Would have been Neuvillette. Yes, technically he's the dragon sovereign. But he seems to fill the role of archon better than Furina... at least from the stories perspective. But then again, you could be right.
this couldve been so much better if it was an actual anime ppl could watch, and thn they just made a open world gatcha game on the side abt the story and playing the through it like u were part of said story. still sell characters, still have 11+ hrs of info frm whoever u want... but actual gamers and ppl who just want the story wouldnt be bogged down by the other aspect. or u knw... just put the whole story into the game in fleshed out ways tht wasnt boring or hidden on other websites and grind-requiring materials tht no one who just wants to play a game would evr b able to spend the time to acquire, read, and fully understand. Also, its too bad tht genshin dosnt realize tht just cuz u split the story into different media outlets, dosnt make said info u took frm the main story 'lore'... it just means they have no fully put together main story. then again, they can barely Write a story, nvm actually put together lore. and there Is still lore... so i dont understand this sht at all. im just gonna wait for the whole story to come out and thn watch some1 elses vid explaining the whole thing frm beginning to end, ch and all, lore and everything. theyll deserve the views for sludging thru a pace this fkd
He's 90% right about it but has mishaps. But overall you can't tell him he isn't paying attention. If not people should pay attention cause a skip button doesn't exist even if you rapidly click. And the sad part even if there's no skip button people don't even understand the story. This fandom doesn't know good storytelling anymore. Besides it's a gacha game from China. So story telling is very restricted. What are you guys expecting 😭
True, as a story reviewer he is doing a bad job. Maybe he can't care less about the overall plot of teyvat or something. His point about nothing really changed after focalor executed is like a nitpick We got new perceptions about sovereigns, celestia and heavenly principle, and later vision giving. I also argue the meropide is the necessary evil for players to get a glimpse of what furina feels when she is imprisoned as the acting archon for 500 years.
Iv always had a theory that Genshin does have competent writers but Da wei gets to involved in its direction resulting in what we get. Id be willing to bet that his involvement is directly correlated to how shit the writing is going to be
The biggest problem is really never giving Furina any screentime after Act1 and then suddenly I'm supposed to feel sorry for a character that never appeared much? Even if I'm supposed to hate her beforehand she still nedded more presence for it. That really made the entire climax boring. Also it made me dislike Furina for unknown reasons to the point i haven't used her in 6+ months.
Perhaps you dislike Furina for the same reason I do. I remember doing the quest the first time around and feeling like something was off, but could not quite put my finger on it. Then latter I got to think about the quest in general and realised that its all kind of bu11sh1t . The problem with Furina from my POV is that the situation she is in made no sense. She was purposefully victimized in order to garner sympathy from the audience, except that she both did not need to suffer for the plan and the claim that she suffered in the first place is dubious as after 5-10 years , you would think that her act would be second nature to her and as such she would derive no suffering from it. Why did the plan make no sense? Well lets look at it: 1. Befriend Neuvilette 2. Create Furina 3. Gather Indemnidium from the Oratrice 4. Hope that Neuv loves humans after 500 years of living among them 5. Kill yourself 6. Hope Neuv has the power to make the fake humans into actual humans. 7. Nothing. The problem with this plan is that only gathering Indemnidium and giving the power to Neuv was necessary. The Heavenly Principles are asleep(and Focalors clearly prepared no plan for when the HP come down and destroy Fontaine , so its clear that she operated under the impression that they won't do anything) and the Tsaritsa is in open rebelion. Why exactly did she need Furina to pretend to be her? Why could she not make it downright public knowledge what her plan was? Aditionally, the way the prophecy was "subverted" was through brute force , not through cunning or lawyering around the prophecy, since Neuv just made it as good as null and void. In a world where the characters were not lobotomized for the sake of plot, the story would have been over in a couple of in-game days and there would be no drama except some sort of funeral for Focalors and Furina could have been created 10 minutes prior to Focalors killing herself. Believe me , the whole Fontaine AQ makes 0 sense the moment you stop and think about it. The biggest problem in that sense is probably the trial of Liney and the last part of the quest where they "subvert" the prophecy.
@@shadowpriest2574Now that I think about it; yeah, Lyney's trial was indeed very useless. We basically wasted 2 hours of our time defending Lyney's ass in court... only for him to end up in the Fortress of Meropide anyways in the next version.
@@bread4break Well, yeah, however, if we ignore the fact that they undo the whole purpose of the trial to not get Liney in Jail(tho if he was found guilty, he might have been sent there for longer), the real problem is the lack of logic, not the lack of purpose. Lack of purpose is something that is more applicable to the Fortress of Meropide section of the story. 1. Liney and Lynette could not have been the killers as they were born after the serial killings began. 2. Vacher did not need to frame Liney at all, as all his crimes are untraceable . 3. If Liney and Lynette wanted to investigate the Oratrice, then they should have structured their show to give themselves more than 1 minute to investigate. Also, isn't it wierd that the Oratrice never comes up again? You would think that hearing that voice and reporting to Arlechino would have prompted Arlechino to maybe investigate in person or invest more time and people into finding out what is up. 4. The Guardes find out who Haley is as part of their investiagion into who the vanished girl was, except...... Haley was alive and well, so how exactly did they find out who she was without finding out that she is alive? These are 4 I remember off the top of my head, but there are some other problems.
The difference in quality between Genshin and Honkai Impact's stories is utterly absurd. HI3 actually has a focused story with a main plot that advances and has very emotional moments with characters we've known for dozens if not hundreds of hours. Meanwhile Genshin is 99% filler with random characters we'll never see ever again...
Thanks! I needed that. It seemed that a lot of people don't like this video, so I was thinking about stopping the whole series altogether. But if a few of you guys actually want to see it, I'd be happy to make it! I actually enjoyed myself most of the way through now and so far!
But this is that you do not understand the lore it has nothing to do with Fontaine. So let me help you out, the reason we go the hydro nation is to find information about our sibling which we came closer to in this region. We released the hydro dragon and crushed one of the thrones this is what Lumine is working towards. "Until the Abyss engulfs the thrones my war with destiny will see no end" That quote is from her and happens literally the quest before we go to Fontaine I don't know how more clear they can be for you average intelligence dudes. The only direction we have from our sibling is that we need to find for ourselves the truth of this world. Now we cannot do that if we do not visit all the nations. Childe was found guilty because the Oratrice sensed the Narwhals emotions in him and that is explained just before that cut scene he says he feels angry and doesn't know why coincidentally the narwhal is also angry and starving, and that's why he came to Fontaine. No they cannot pick a different harbinger Childe is connected to the Narwhal no other harbinger is because it was awaken in the Abyss. No they did not forget. His vision stopped working because he felt what the whale felt and not his own memories. The vision was given to Arlecchino and is a significant part of the plot going forward. The Narhwal destroyed Childes constellation and made his vision into a master less one, this is explained how this works in the quest itself. Never seen a game explain things so clearly and you still don't get it.. Wait are you saying that it's to easy now just because you recognized a simple pattern between the two archon quests Nahidas quest is not even close to Furinas, Nahida is trapped within a dream for hundreds of years thinking she is awake do you even do the quests?..you understand nothing of the game it's simply to hard for you and that's okay it's not made for you. It is highly likely that the Sinner Surtalogi planned for Childe to be in Fontaine since that "pet" belongs to him. As well as Veldfolnir planting the tablets that eventually lead to Neuvilette regaining the authority of the sovereign this is something Lumine and the sinners work towards together. This is that you do not understand it does not mean everyone don't. It's much better to try to be humble No not bedtime story please...I can't you understand 20 percent of the plot congratulations just take what you can and be happy with it I can't explain every quest in the game up to this point and that is needed for you to understand anything at all.
I already accepted at the end of Inazuma and midway to Sumeru that Genshin doesn't know its own story and are just playing by ear, thats why random characters pop up, The game's story isn't finished right from the start, They are making it up as they go, thats why there are so many inconsistencies, random characters popping up and stories that are just basically the same but rebranded.
For me the only big problem was the interactions between traveller-childe and traveller when he found out about the twins being fatui I mean it had NOTHING to do whit the case and 5 minutes before traveller almost shaked hands whit a jack ass who tried to destroy one nation and kill him. That was so random and out of character i was shoked. Aside from that its pretty clear every harbinger has a diferent way to complete their objectives, so some harbinger being "friendly" makes sense but some of them should be really evil or dead by now (lets be honest scaramouche should not be alive, unless nahida intervined directly because traveller should be far more hostile towards him)
Why are y'all moving like it didn't take the traveler three years to warm up to Childe and prior to that they've literally went out of their way to warn others he was Fatui??? They were always hostile to him and he off the bat was honest about being Fatui. Traveler just met Lyney and Lynette and found out they were Fatui through a trial where they are being accused of murder so now they have to re-evaluate every interaction with them unlike Childe who they were always cautious with cause they knew everything. Plus the twins were being accused of murder which is something Fatui are well known for doing so the sensible thing would be to inform their lawyer, traveler, of whatever may be incriminating like og idk being a fatui??? Like the answer is so obvious yet y'all choose not to think
@@chaoticbliss4169 childe almost destroyed an entire nation, after trying to kill us, yet after that while the traveller may be wary of him he makes no effort to keep him away or avoid it at all (and pretty much everyone knows he is a harbinger anyway), the traveller even takes his vision to return it later (i would toss it into the ocean). Liney and Linette despite everything did nothing to him, even if he had became wary of them he had no reason at all to treat them so bad like that. Traveller acted like he was stabbed in the back which was overreacting A LOT in that situation They didnt tell him they were Fatui but why would they do that? It would make no diference at all. Besides they met for what? 2/3 days and whit them being accused its normal they didnt tell, and just because they are fatui that doesnt mean nothing.
@@chaoticbliss4169 Then explain Arlecchino. Why wasn't she met with the same hostility Lyney and Lynette faced despite being a Harbinger who admitted to attacking Furina and being proud of it?
I really recommend for you to play Reverse 1999, althought its also a gacha game, the story and dialogue feel very realistic, and different to genshin, they dont hide important world building and story bits in random places. Bonus point, I actually love the female characters and think they do function similar to us woman and generally do not have annoying voice/speech ( basically not everyone is an ambulant anime girl steryotipe lol). And everyone is still pretty.
I disagree on the quality of fontained. I think their approach to the story was creative even if filled with flaws. One of the things that make me think this is how they did Furina. I truly feel for her and hope we see more of her
Damn, was hoping you'd tear the story a new one for how ridiculously one sided the trial one. For starters, Sure.. It was a "trap" to make Furina take things more seriously, but that's already contradicted in the very same scene by Neuvillette stating that he always knew about Furina doing research in the background for so long.. Which should make him know that she is taking things seriously. Or maybe, call out Traveler for taking Arlecchino's claim as fact because "Intuition doesn't require justification.", which is already ridiculous, yet it's even worse that they'd believe the words of the person who prior told them they tried to assassinate Furina. But at least you called out that nothing happens.. The Hydro Seat is gone, but nothing happens.. You'd expect Hydro Visions to stop working, or the Hydro Gnosis to burst or stop working.. But nothing. You'd think at least the Fatui won't get the Gnosis this time.. Except they do because Neuvillette takes the word of some stranger he never met before.
Furina was done so dirty. Not only in the archon quest, but her own character story as well. It still baffles me to this day how the traveler and Paimon act all buddy-buddy with Arlecchino despite her trying to kill them, but treat Furina like shit despite all the things she went through. Act 5 in particular was just the worst, when the climax was about to happen. Furina was all by herself, crying, and instead of helping, the traveler goes "no... I still need answers!" as if that's the only reason to save her. I've been salty with the traveler since Inazuma, but that cutscene single-handedly made the traveler my number one most disliked character.
Sorry for my English. I usually don't speak it. But let me be an advocate for genshin a little bit. 1) Why it should be a trap? It would be really strange if she wouldn't care at all about her people dying. Not to mention Furina having only fun and not caring about prophecy in the end would make her very unfavorable in community, which is bad for salary. I was waiting the entire time for explanation of how exactly she was trying to save Fountain and I liked how it turned out. 2) It's not only that. Furina created the judging machine but didn't know why it said that Childe is guilty. No one saw her hydro powers, even if she was explained it that she powers the entire Fountain or what she was doing, it still strange, why does she can't generate at least one bubble? 3) Why should something of that happen if Focalors said that no power leaves this world? It used to be owned by sovereign dragons at first, then it was devided between dragons and archons, and then it returned to dragon. Visions being a gift from archons is just a theory made by people. 4) It looks forced because you know, every gnosis were took, so this one should also be. But I can just think that Neuvillette didn't see any sense of it and maybe he thought, that after what Focalors did, it shouldn't be in Fountain, because it represents the power of Celestia. It was a solid exchange for not getting any political problems, since now Fountain doesn't owe anything for Fatui's help.
@@bread4break god.. That made me cringe.. Not you, the "No! I need answers!" line.. I was about to scream at my TV because.. Furina was about to get EXECUTED and all you care about is answers? but it gets worse.. Remember when Fontaine started to flood? Nobody bothered to check on Furina or go back for her. They broke her down mentally and left her to die. If she wasn't immortal, that would've been the end of her story. And in the end? She doesn't get a mere thank you. Just a ridiculous "The Prophecy was wrong!" even though 90% of the Prophecy happened. And even in the conclusion.. You don't catch a glimpse of her. You never talk to her.. She leaves, presumably dejected according to Neuvillette. And you never bother to check for her.. Except to guilt trip her into helping people she never met into doing some stage plays. The very thing that caused her a 500 years worth of trauma. And it's trash level of quality.
@@bread4breakThis is actually a good point. I also was disappointed in her character quest because traveller acts like they didn't see anything in the last act. I didn't understand how their advice helped Furina. If I remember it properly, traveller said that what Furina had to go through makes her herself, but it's not about that, bruh. She thought that she failed Focalors because her secret were revealed and nobody except traveller and Neuvillette knows that she is just a human with deep mental trauma but treat her as a God who got a human body (which is actually kinda true but it's complicated). She still can not be herself because nobody will know who she actually is. And traveller want her to do what? To reveal everything? To continue pretend? To close her eyes on that? Maybe you will tell her that her secret being revealed was actually planed and show that you respect what she did? Nah let's just try to make her help some NPCs, it should work (and it worked).
@@Xenearsa That something I couldn't stand. in Furina's voicelines, Traveler apparently states they never respected Furina despite everything.. Yet for no reason they respect Morax to death. I thought that was bad until I played her quest.. Especially since when it came to Navia, they were empathetic and caring whenever she cries. But whenever Furina opens up, Paimon becomes extremely insensitive. It'd be acceptable if she acted the same way towards others, but she showed empathy before, and now we have to accept that this is "how Paimon cares"? And that's not the worst part. The spotlight isn't about Furina, it's about one-time NPCs that you never see before or after. And it just happens that their suffering is loosely (even forcefully) based off Furina's story. Therefore, they deserve to take the spotlight instead of the girl who last time was seen breaking down in tears after she mentally shut down. So not only does she NOT have the spotlight? She never gets any moment to open up thanks to Paimon being a demon every single time.
SO REAL WITH THE GENSHIN VILLIAN PROBLEM LIKE BRO I'M NOT READY FOR COLUMBINA OR DOTTORE TO TURN INTO "good buddies!!;;;" WITH THE TRAVELER OR SOME SHIT 💔😊
Glad someone else is on the same page as me on the story of Genshin . You were still to kind to it, like implying that the trial of Liney was fine , despite not making a lick of sense , but I am glad we are mostly on the same page .
Thank God. I thought I was all alone out here for a second. There's quite a few people who just disagree with me. I get liking the game for sure. There's a lot of likable characters in this particular story arc. But man are there a lot of haters in the comments section. To be clear though, there's also a lot of thought provoking people who just disagree. And that's fair.
@@greenlineessays What do you think of my points on the Fontaine AQ? My points are more so targeted at the lack of logic of the AQ: " I disagree. While I have never thought hard about any of the other 4 AQ's, I have thought somewhat hard about the Fontaine AQ and its rly rly baddly written. I will go as far as saying that Fontaine AQ is the most baddly written Archon Quest so far, even bellow Inazuma. Why is that? Well, because 50% of it either made no sense, or was pointless or both. Lets start from the start, with the whole Lyney trial: 0.5. Actually, a point that I just remembered that happens before we even get to Fontaine is Rhodesia , you know, the Oceanid in Liyue that says " ....we just wanted but a small patch of tranquil waters, is that too much to ask?". What exactly did she mean by this? The writers clearly forgot that they set something up about the waters of Fontaine not being tranquil , because the Primordial Water should not do anything to Oceanids, only to Oceanids that were transformed into humans, so what exactly is there that Rhodesia ran away from? Also, her flight from Fontaine implied that some oceanids are still there and so far we found.....none, at least none in their original form. 1. Why did Liney chose that plan in order to get into the Oratrice? He had plenty easier ways that would allow for WAY more time to research the Oratrice. He could have sent Lynette for example in his stead and have her not be involved in any magical trick for as long as he would have wanted. He could have sent some other Fatui members of the House of the Harth. Liney's plan simple made no sense. 2. Why did Vacher try to frame Liney in the first place? His crimes literally leave no traces, so why kill Haley in specific and frame it on Liney? 3. Where is the actual Haley? If you remember, a Mondstad thief impersonates Haley and the trial begins and the Guardes supposedly gather information about Haley. Why did they not inform her parents that she is missing and possibly dead? And if they did, how come they did not found out that she was alive and well? There were some more points I think, but it has been a while since I talked about how bad the Fontaine AQ is , so I forgot some of the points at this part. The part with Navia was mostly fine as far as I am concerned. Then we get to the Fortress of Meropide with is 100% pointless, as it makes no sense why Neuvilette cannot just go down there and gather information about Childe's whereabouts or just ask Rio. They gave the excuse that the Fortress is not under Fontaine jurisdiction , which is plain false, since Neuv just waltzed in there to fix the whole Primordial Water trouble and clearly nobody can stop him. On top of that, every guard in the Fortress is a Fontainian citizen, so what does he mean by no jurisdiction? The only thing we did in the fortress was wasting time. The only thing that might seem important was the Ark of Rio, except that the fool only deployed it after the Nation was flooded, which is a very interesting strategy taking into consideration that the problem was not the flood as much as the people dissolving in that water, meaning that bringing the Ark out AFTER, is pointless. And then we get to the last part of the Archon quest which literally makes no sense and its pointless. It makes no sense because of Focalor's plan. So lets go through her plan: 1. Go to the bottom of the sea and think of a solution. 2. Found the solution. 3. Make Furina in order to have a replacement 4. Gethers indemnidium. 5. Befriend Neuv and make him love humans. 6. W8 500 years to gather indemnidium. 7. Kill yourself in order to give the Hydro Authority to Neuv. 8. Neuv makes the humans of Fontaine actual Humans. The problem with her plan is that : 1. How did she know that killing herself with that much power would destroy the Throne of Hydro? Did this happen before or was it just a lucky guess? And if it was...... well, then she is rly rly stupid for making a 500 years plan based on a "maybe". 2. Why did she need Furina as a stand-in? The Tsaritsa has been in open rebellion against the heavens for at least 500 years too, so why would Focalors gathering that much Indemnidum gather any sort of punishment from the heavens when The Tsaritsa is open about what she does? 3. The plan is missing a core aspect, and that is the question of what exactly will she do when the Heavens see that the Throne of Hydro got destroyed? Idk about you, but her plan is a very good recipe for Khanria 2.0. Unless she knew that the Heavens are asleep, in which case, why did her plan not just go this way: 1. Befriend Neuv. 2. Gather Indemnidium. 3. Make Furina 2 minutes prior to step 4. 4. Kill yourself. 4. Why are we to believe that Furina suffered all those 500 years? Surely she would get used to it after....2 years? 3? 10? Surely the pretense would become the reality of who she is at some point in time , or so second nature that she would derive no suffering from pretending anymore , right? But oh well, we need a victimized Archon even if her circumstances for that victimization makes no sense.. 5. Why was Egeria ruling over no humans? Why was she rulling over Oceanids? We know for a fact that the Archons exist to rule over humans, so what gives? We also know that Boreas/Andrius gave up his seat as Archon over to Venti, because he could not understand humans , so this more or less explicitly confirms that Archons are supposed to rule over humans. Now, there are plenty of other points, but I forgot many of them, but, the more you dig into the story of Fontaine the less sense it makes, trust me. Fontaine AQ is without a doubt one of the worst AQ to date if not the worst." "There's quite a few people who just disagree with me. " I know. The one that irks me the most is when they said that Furina was informed by a spy from Sumeru that you came so it was not convenient that she knew....... except: 1. Why would she even need to do that? 2. What does she gain from doing that? 3. Was the spy following you since the start of Sumeru or just that day, and if just that day, then why exactly then? This was convenient indeed. People who disagree with you are always happy to take 1 inaccurate statement(or one percieved as such) and discard your whole opinion, never quite seeing the irony in deeming something(your opinion) as invalid for 1 misstake, but otherwise still prasing the AQ despite you pointing out mistake after mistake . So for you, their standards are through the roof, but for the AQ quest, the story made by a multi bilionare company with years in advance of preparation? Teehe, misstakes happen, owo.
@@shadowpriest2574 I'm going to be honest with you, I kind of need to go to bed. However, since you put so much work in I will answer this to the best of my abilities. I honestly think all this could be fixed with a simple solution: flesh everything out far more than they already have. All we get at the end of the day is the bear **** minimum. Why did the Archon kill herself? I think it's strange too. I feel like Focalor Destroying the divine throne did practically nothing. If nouvellette could turn the people back into humans, why couldn't Focalor? And why did she need to hide herself away and have a double when it doesn't really matter that she's heading away in the first place. Clearly the heavens above is not going to notice if she's missing or not. I feel like people value the idea of the story than the story itself. Because the minute you even stop to think about the logistics and the reasoning behind everything it starts to fall apart, as you and I have discussed. A couple other commenters mentioned that Yanfei does not appear, despite the fact that she is the one lawyer in the game. She understands the rules and laws of this realm, and could have helped us. I know it's just a small, stupid, detail... but that's the point. There's so many things that people miss because they just get caught up in the voice acting and cut scenes without stopping to think about what's actually going on. But what would flushing Out everything solve? I think the writers had more time and actually decided to flesh some more things out this could solve a lot of problems. You would fill in plot points that were introduced earlier on. Instead what they do nowadays is simply make plot holes. These writers I feel like Stumble over themselves Well trying to write interesting story lines without considering what it came before. As a result it contradicts itself at times. And so I do feel like we're going to get another kingdom hearts 3. Were the arc of this story is going to be 80% filler and 20% story. And that 20%... some of it is not going to make sense... some of it is just going to be plain dumb. What do I think about your points? Simple. I couldn't agree more.
@@greenlineessays "I'm going to be honest with you, I kind of need to go to bed. However, since you put so much work in I will answer this to the best of my abilities. "I honestly think all this could be fixed with a simple solution: flesh everything out far more than they already have. All we get at the end of the day is the bear ** minimum. " Yep, its honestly soo dissapointing that they settle for the bare minimum while bombarding us with new mysteries while expecting us to just be excited for the new mystery and ask no questions. We are 5 nations in and know more or less nothing of both Khanria and Celestia, we are 5 nations in and we only meet a couple harbingers and only 2 dragon sovreigns.... Tho I will say, that there ARE some good quests in this game that are self-contained and bring no new mysteries to the viewer and are satisfying on their own, like the Xiao-Interlude Chasm quest, Dehya quest in general was rly ,rly good for no reason and the Faruzan hangout quests were all good. " If nouvellette could turn the people back into humans, why couldn't Focalor?" I actually have less of a problem with that angle since : 1. Its baked into the very premise, in the sense that the sin was her creating an imitation of life in the first place and we were told that she could not make them fully human. 2. I can accept the idea that the power was originally borrowed(stolen) from the Dragon Sovreigns , and as such, they would be better at using it. But I do take trouble with them being able to make humans, as that is the deed of the Primordial one, while they only made other elemental beings and Vishaps. Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe it does indeed make less sense for the sovereign to be able to create new life(or at least human life) as opposed to the archons who were either created or under the employ of Celestia. "A couple other commenters mentioned that Yanfei does not appear, despite the fact that she is the one lawyer in the game. She understands the rules and laws of this realm, and could have helped us. I know it's just a small, stupid, detail... but that's the point. " Yeah, that is stupid, but its obvious why when you reflect on what you see in the quests themselves. My answer to why she is not there, is because the AQ needs to flesh out the characters from the new zone while pretending that characters from other zones (who are not fatui) cannot interfere. A good example of this is the Fortress of Meropide which in retrospect only exists to showcase Rio and Sigwene, because as I pointed out , that plot point was literally pointless. I realised this in the Sumeru Archon quest. Specifically, the part where we find out the Doctor works with the Sages and Katherine(Nahida) gets killed. At that point I was shocked that they dared to do that. I thought: Omg ! Now the urgency is on, we no longer have any time to waste, not only is pure, innocent Nahida imprisoned, but she was found out as sabotaging their plan and is at their mercy. Surely from this point onward the only logical course of action from the POV of the Traveler is to go back to Liyue , get Xiao(who is at 1 command away from helping us), Shenhe(who is clearly in love with the MC), Blackmail Ganyu with Cloud Retainer childhood stories, and then get Zhongli for good measure, while shaming him for being a bum who left poor Nahida to be imprisoned for half a millenium while he sat on his allmighty ass doing nothing about this clear injustice that was happening to a neighbor archon, right at his doorstep, then kill all the Sages and save the day......but that is not what happened, instead we went to the desert, got most of the Playable Characters together to make up a plan to save Nahida, as if saving her , with them , was more important than saving her at all. It was also bizzare that the Characters were acting under the understanding that Nahida is fine and they are not torturing and doing twisted experiments on her, with the obvious question of.....how did they know that exactly? Why were they under the impression that they were not wasting time and instead they had plenty of time to do the plan?

I don’t know if any you guys remember but I was so disappointed that they didn’t go with the “Focalors killed the OG Archon” (It was a highly popular theory) it could have been made into such a great plot line - Why did Focalors kill the OG Hydro Archon, and what were her reasons. - Is this truly justice ?? Also a lot of people thought that Focalors was the most loyal to (She’s the God of Justice after all ) Celestia, again could have been a great story line - Is she trying to cover smth. up by judging the other Archons - etc. So far every Archon has been a “version of the previous one” - Ei & Makoto - Nahida & Rukkhadevata - Focalors & Egeria (all those she’s a familiar) It all feels repetitive and can we talk about how almost ALL of the Archons are females ??? It could have been cool of the Dendro Archon was a male (Atleast they made Xbalanque a male ) But NO , they made all of them women in order for more money
Tbh Fontaine could have involved a Character being murdered (Furina maybe ) since well NPCs have literally no impact in the story but a character dying HAS IMPACT , Genshin is reluctant to kill of a character for the sake of Money and basically almost all of the Character Story Quest being a “date”
That would have been so freaking cool!!! "can we talk about how almost ALL of the Archons are females???" I like to think that Neuvillette is the hydro archon. He's obviously not, he's the dragon sovereign. But I like to think that he fills the role of archon for Fontaine. You know, just to fill out the roster.
@@greenlineessays Right ? And that explains why all of the “older” Oceanids don’t like Focalors ( I don’t think they covered that in the AQ or WQ ) But Neuvilette does fit the role of an “Archon” :) Really hope the Tsaristsa is the lover of the previous Cryo Archon
Tbf they really don't mind put a new male archon but sadly the game got infested by one of the toxic fujos which already make the game have bad reputation. fontaine has like sum problems like yeaaa its a good story yahoo... but it really felt like a character quest rather than a story quest, mostly with navia and furina. thanks for adressing all these stuff cuz yeah it was epic and a "huge" step in genshin stroy i guess, but the fatui stuff, morality between the harbingers, and everything in focalors plan seemed... too convinient. it was way too long and... heavy iykwim.
@@greenlineessays Yea, I did honestly I just think your expectations are too much of this game. For example Furina was actually waiting for traveller to arrive she was notified by a spy, The story is actually good despite being slow, being slow in of itself isn't a bad thing with how many characters are involved in one Archon quest I think Archon quests being slow is better it gives time to flesh out the character even more, Also Focalor had to destroy herself and her archon throne to give Neuvi his hydro soveriegn powers back and to trick the heavenly principals by actually allowing the prophecy to be fulfilled (Fontaine was flooded) but saving the people, The flood was taken care of by Nevui with his OG powers. People calling Furina the Hydro archon is just them being ignorant. Furina was Focalors's human part she seperated her divinity and humanity that occured in Furina's birth. Also I don't see how being a critique you can ignore the reveal and the final emotional scene, You don't gotta feel Emotional for Focalor but what the game was trying to do was show Furina's struggle and pain for the 5 centuries she has been playing the role of the hydro archon. I honestly don't know how can anyone not like that particular ending. Also it's beyond me how tf you reached the conclusion that Sumeru's quest was similar to Fontaine's? what were the similarities if you care to ellaborate. I can only agree with some or maybe atmost half the points you made. Oh, also it's apparent why Traveller was angry with Lyney and Lynett they kept their identities hidden from them on purpose. Also, Fatuis aren't the bad guys every harbinger have their own personal goals the only thing that's common between the harbingers is that they all have to retrieve the gnosis for the Tsarista. It was in the story that all Harbingers have different personal goals, also if you were referring to childe aiding in summoning osial as the potential genocide that was a scheme Zhongli came up with to make the Adeptus and Humans work together. It wasn't just Childe's plan. It makes sense to be wary of harbingers but they aren't the bad guys and the harbingers who isn't openly hostile against them, they can kind of chill and talk to. For example- Tartaglia or childe's personal motivation is to get stronger, Arrlecchino's is mostly taking care of her childrens and adopting new orphans and actually caring for them even if she is hella strict. The Doctor or Dottore he is an evil genius experiment junkie, he just want more knowledge and do fucked up experiments on anyone adults, children, puppets.
Thanks for this. The story does tend to lag _far_ behind the lore, though delivering some big moments is enough for many people. Some good points about the region delay, but I guess you could also claim that most non-story moments in the game are non-canon. The Childe thing used to bug me a lot, though apparently most of his psychopath lines are English only, with the originals actually expressing remorse & reluctance; still, him actually lamp-shading the fact he wants to be friends certainly doesn't fix the issue, but it does fit his supposed personality: in that he wants to have relationship with us, mainly because we can beat him. The hearth siblings' part in the story was rather poor and honestly did less than the few one off NPCs to emphasise that the individual fatus are just people, if fanatically committed to a "greater good" and questionable leadership. (Later it's actually rolling back the idea that the Fatui come before everything else in their lives.) It's a reach, but I guess the MC's issue could be that he knows Futui will put their own morals 2nd to orders. But yeah, we shouldn't need to reach. Wow, you're completely right, because of the time and scaling back playing, I'd completely forgotten how similar those 2 Archon twists were; if anything, the memory remnant is more sensible than just hiding in a room for 500 years. Plus that really calls into question how gullible Celestia could be ... in fact, did the deception even accomplish anything. I guess we could reach and say it was to prevent Focalor being stopped, if Celestia is even currently capable of that.
I agree with all your issues but I really think it's fine if the Fatui are a grey faction. I just played the Meropide stuff but honestly...It could have EASILY been cut into one act...Or completely cut and put the Arlecchino bits into Acts 2 and 5 (would be act 3 then)
Dude i appreciate the effort you put into this, but i gotta say this is both some hardcore nitpicking of the stories plot, im in part not sure if there even is any genuine criticism for most of the points you make and even the points you make are ignoring details. Furina timing her appearance was foreshadowed with the very 1st scene of the archon quest. The npc that appears at the end of the trial is the same thief they are trying to catch earlier, that if i remember right can also be talked to while you investigate clues (and is really about paying attention) and Lynettes comments (along with the whole prophecy) are directly foreshadowing the primordial water. Also Childe is the exception, not the rule. I dunno what exactly you are expecting from this plot. Its not a perfect story, but these are all just nitpicks man.
What about the point about nothing progressing the sibling/dain plot? How we didn't ask the sibling questions for whatever reason and how we just let dain go on his way? His main point is how it feels like filler character quests rather than advancing the main narrative.
My thoughts exactly. I couldn't even finish the video due to points that are flat out misleading, as well as some completely wrong story points. I personally won't be watching these videos in the future because it felt like an overall hate-train of a video. If they don't like the story, and would rather complain with the most nit-picky of things. is Genshin really the right game for them? I'm saying this as someone who, honestly does wish certain story bits could be better (Inazuma specifcally). and hell, even though there are some parts of the overall narrative that I wish could be different/changed myself, I'm not going to complain with baseless nitpicks because hey! The story may be amazing and even perfect for others. I felt a huge amount of the creators bias watching what I could stomach throughout, and it just felt depressing. Anywho, apologies for the rambling on my end, Sometimes I think that these videos are intentionally made to create these discussions and potentially rile up groups of people, regardless of fandom.
"Furina timing her appearance was foreshadowed with the very 1st scene of the archon quest." Was it? The very first scene? In Caravan Ribat? Paimon mentions to Dehya That they like wandering around. so, is that it? Furina likes wandering around? Because my whole point, despite the fact that it was nitpicky, What's the point at how impractical it was that Furina was there in the first place. We meet Farina at Romaritime Harbor, One of Fontaine's borders That's out there in the Boonies. I just found it highly unlikely that she would be there. She lives at the palace. So I could Believe that we could find her at either the palace or the opera house; but not at the border of Fontaine. It just seems highly unlikely to me That we would find her add such a place. Add to the fact that she's not actually the Archon, I can believe it if she was, because at least then she could teleport, or swim very fast. But the fact that she is just a human without a vision makes it seem very Unlikely. The only reason I can think of is the fact that she was already there to begin with. She had an escort with her and everything. Was she researching the waters of Fontaine? But that was mentioned later, the only other option I can think of is the npc's that you talked to that bring up the trial. But again that's several miles away at the opera house. "The npc that appears at the end of the trial is the same thief they are trying to catch earlier" The one that Lyney and the traveler caught yeah? I didn't forget about her. What I said was is that it felt like They were ripping off some cheesy movie, Where you would have some surprise witness show up at the end that you've never met. I never said that the witness that shows up at the end of this trial was some one we never met. HOWEVER, I should have had my editor put some text over that visual. Don't edit my own videos somebody else does. And what he put was the the thief. Despite the fact that I overviewed the video and I saw that part I ultimately decided not to put in that note. I just didn't think it would come up. Sorry about that. I did notice it and I didn't do anything about it because I didn't think it was that big of a deal. "Also Childe is the exception, not the rule." No, no he isn't. I even spent a few minutes going over that fact. After him we have: 1. Ei, The Raiden Shogun The Raiden Shogun Was a tyrant that controlled her people. 2. Scaramouche Actively threatened us along with our friends. 3. Arlecchino Is a harbinger and runs an intelligence network that's not afraid to get their hands dirty. She also attacked Furina. these are not simply misunderstood people. They are portrayed as antagonists and villains with horrendous crimes for some of them (The Doctor) But because Hoyo Want you to pull for these characters, they can't exactly make them dictators, murderers, and assassins.
i honestly stopped paying attention to the storyline when fontaine came around, i just got real tired of the use of the same hand animation and facial expression and the reallyyy boring dialog and the shitty characters that i really don't care about and many other reasons that you have mentioned in your videos, the only reason i sometime play the game it's because i have already put so much of my time on this game, it feels hard to fully quit after you have put so much of your time already, great videos btw i will keep an eye for future videos
For sure, it kind of feels like the game at times hold you hostage because of have a how much time you have invested. And thank you! It's nice to hear that you'll be on the lookout for my future videos!
I mean i can understand where you are coming from but if you want a quick and consice story without the extra fluff and world building just play action games or games like minecraft where the story barely matters or doesnt exist. Its not a crime to just say that the game isnt for you, its been like 4 years now. Anyone still playing the game either likes the story or likes the game enough to overlook the story.
Honestly Fontaine was mid at least for me. It'a not hyped like Inazuma I mean even if Inazuma was bad it's still the first big update since the release. And HYV cooked for Sumeru before even the release, they introduced Dottore, Collei, and Cyno and the story didn't disapoint. But Fontaine? Nah there was nothing special about it amd it maybe the last 2 hours of the story were good. It has Inazuma's trash pacing and Mond archon quest level story
In-game, they were sent by Marcel/Vacher to kill the Traveler for helping Lyney and Lynette and save them from being framed by him. The guy is super rich and apparently can afford an army of mechs. In reality, it was a cheap one time plot device to force the Traveler to change their mind to help Navia since they refused for no reason other than to pad the story.
@@CorelUser You'd be correct. The reason I call it a plot device is because had things continued the way they are, Traveler would've never helped with the case of missing women. They immediately refused to help Navia and get involved, but when they get attacked by the army of mechs, Traveler suddenly changes their mind. The actual in-game reason behind the attack is just as bad, Vacher/Marcel, the supposed master criminal who left no trace, is now doing something so stupid and petty to get revenge against the Traveler for ruining his plans to frame the Fatui, despite having no connections to them at all. It's just to make the story move along.
Marcel/Vacher did, in reality it was just an excuse to make it seem like Clorinde matters as a character and have Aether/Lumine agree to help Navia as they initially didn’t want to.
Lol, I remember back in 1.1 when Traveler spoke after saving Liyue, I was so excited for some reason. But now, ironically I wish they'd keep their mouth shut as what they say often tend to be less than appealing.
But the Harbinger being Childe is actually important, he's the one whose master is Skirk, not any of the others. His vision failing, his dreams about the whale, it was all important for the final trial.
He was kind of "important." The dream is about the whales seem to be more forced than anything else. The game did not show us the significance of the whale for childe. In any other game that isn't this godforsaken gatcha I would expect the writers and game developers to have us play as a younger Tartagilia. And going through his experiences with his master. And speaking of Skirk, Child is passed out the entire time she is on screen. Would have been great if we got to see that resolution for his character, you know, because he's been wanting to see her for a long time now. But no, this game cannot be bothered to give us an in depth look at these characters and the story it's all surface level.
Tl;dr the author either didn't play the game and took a random rant from Reddit or does not have any qualifications (which are low lmao) to speak on any story beads. 2:20 did you just completely skip this dialogue? If you didn't you'd see that it fit the situation 3:05 you missed the dialogie with Dehya. Not only that, your first critique of spawning the fontaine makes you look silly 3:45 not about fontaine but, dude. She is quite literally introduced as a character doing expeditions outside of Mondstate. 8:00 you just said about how we were shown faults of fontaine system being bad and now act like what showed it to us is bad too? Traveller has vouched for Lynney and decided to defend him. Also, officers aren't detectives or forensic scientists, the way you also assign today's practices to industrial revolution setting as if everyone is Sherlock is strange to say the least. 8:35 you can't make this up, YOU HAVE LITERALLY WENT LOOKING FOR IT and FOUND STUFF. Did you even play the quest?! Also, how is gradually showing more evidence to make a more complete picture bad storytelling?! 11:40 I am genuinely asking, where the fuck are you getting these opinions because no way you played the quests and actually arrived at these conclusions. This is straight out of a meme subreddit 12:30 this is the part of the game where you literally challenge a god when you just need an answer to a question and nothing more. How can you compare helping retrieve something and not letting people die with going to WAR with a god just because she took some shiny stones? You would be tonedeaf to actually not understand why Traveller said no originally. The BIGGEST problem of genshin is useless flavor dialogue and overexplaining, and you ask for more explaining? 13:20 I guess you haven't played Li Yue quest too and just read it off the wiki because to not see a parallel between Childe betrayal and this whole thing is... bruh 13:38 dude. The closest we actually gotten to being buddy with him was in Labyrinth warriors event, and even that was basically filler. Childe's quest starts and ends with you still being able to antagonize him, the only reason you don't try to fight him or actively go against him is due to his little brother 14:00 you don't remember shit 14:08 bro hates the idea of having morally grey characters or organizations 20:50 I actually agree with almost all your criticisms, the whole thing was an utter waste of time just made so we could see 2 plot devices. 24:59 seriously? How in hell are those two similar? A play to get a salvation for the whole race whilst fooling what we saw as absolute and a mentor figure that was supposed to be the trusted adult sacrificing themselves to destroy the remaining forbidden knowledge, placing their to be disciple in the leading position after the journey showed the disciple was ready? You do know that Eleazar was also just a side effect? To actually say those are similar is to say that you are a smoothbrain that saw two characters sacrificing themselves and went "hurhur sAmE" 25:16 you are the only one who doesn't remember and acted on the first impulse when you noticed similarities 25:27 💀💀💀 I needn't say more 26:17 if you want backstory to Egeria do the fuckin questline near a big tree with npc called Sorush. She offed herself EXACTLY so nothing would happen, it's so thoroughly chewed through the dialogue I just can't even take you half seriously anymore 30:10 💀💀💀 you get answers to all of that either from Dainsleif, books, other characters or tone 31:24 yeah I had the same reaction, but I don't understand why you weren't more mad by how the whole thing is erased from Travellers mind 32:37 the fact that you consider Li Yue peak really puts it all into perspective. It had by far the most flavor dialogue and useless encounters just for us to see or meet people when actual story happened in like 3 moments at best 33:08 alright I can't take it anymore and will go straight to conclusion. You are pretentious. You don't know anything you are talking about. Not the story, not the worldbuilding not the game mechanics. You just spout your stupid opinion and even this is giving you big ammounts of good faith because an actual opinion is formed after getting relevant information whereas you are going off of whatever you felt at the moment. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with just not liking stuff, however you keep acting like you have listened, learned or saw anything when you have blatantly turned off your brain and watched everything unfold. It would have been actually ok if you straight up said, "hey, those are my feelings" but you have kept on and on about what is good storytelling and how bad the stuff here is whilst acting like you are enlightened enough over many people to point out the flaws of the story. I know actual faults genshin has (Paimon mostly) and almost none of them are the ones you can see or point out, you just went for whatever your ego told you wasn't great. Please never discuss anything remotely close to storytelling or worldbuilding unless you learn a lot more than you currently know. This whole video is a big disappointment.
@kurodo9926 LMAO, you can't say anything bad about Fontaine or their lord and saviour Furina on reddit without getting downvoted into oblivion. As well as saying anything about the voice acting not being perfect.
I found it odd, that in the quest between Fontaine and Natlan, the entire plot twist of Fontaine almost seems unnecessary since the Heavenly Principles are still asleep and Lumine attributes that to how Fontaine gets away with breaking the rules. TBH the only thing I liked about the Fontaine Quest, was Furina not being the Hydro Archon, ever since her character design and then act one and seeing her personality, I immediately felt like she was just the absolute worst Archon, and I immediately started hoping the plot twist would be that she isnt actually the Archon, especially as people started making theories about it. I was still half interested in the story during Inazuma, that died with Sumeru, stayed dead with Fontaine with the exception of the final cutscenes with Focalors and Neuvillette. The Dream quest was staggeringly dull The fact that Paimon is still around, the dialogue is unbearably long and has no skip button, and even worse, at some point, we stopped getting two dialogue options and just get two halves of the same dialogue, literally what is the point in us picking between the first and second half of a sentence! I also hate how prevelant they keep making the child characters, the fact that the Natlan story wants me to root for a 4 star kid, against a bunch of 5 stars with far cooler designs, and stories i'd much rather get invested in, instead I have to follow a kid around playing tour guide and then watch her go through a tournament arch and hell, even the NPC's have cooler designs, when I had to fight my second 1v1 match against the Cryo champion, i wanted to loose the match, her design was awesome, I'd rather be playing as or rooting for the cool ice-witch mini-boss than the little Geo bunny Girl, oh yea, and on top of that, SHES GEO! Which i suppose it's no wonder, otherwise the fights might have gone quicker. Hell my biggest relief since Natlans announcement was they didnt make the Pyro archon a kid like Venti, Nahida and Focalor, she's actually a cool character, with a cool likable personality and a great character design, now i just hope her power level stacks up. Also slightly disappointed that of all the Archons to not actually be an archon from the start of the story, it had to be this one, the coolest one they've given us arguably at all so far, certainly the coolest since Raiden or Zhongli. I expect, if you took all the Dendro, Hydro and Anemo characters, and asked someone who wasnt familiar with Genshin, but you explained what the Archons were and what they were the gods off, I dont think people would pick Venti, Nahida, or Furina. They'd pick Alhaithem or Bhaizu as the Dendro Archon. Xianyun, Xio, or Wanderer as the Anemo Archon. And they'd definitely pick Neuvillette as the Hydro Archon, or hell, even Ayato or Yelan, they look Hydro and they look like they could be the god of Justice, not as much as Neuvi, but more so than Furina or even Focalor. Also Venti the drunk, Nahida the forgetful got of Wisdom and Focalor, the Drama queen "god of justice" who seemed to be nothing but a detriment to her kingdom until the final act, were not remotely enjoyable characters for most of the Time, there are little moments that make me warm up to them at times, but their too few and far between for me to be complete fans of them. Also, as i'm currently playing through the Natlan story quest, WHY AM I TAKING A BREAK IN A WATER PARK IN THE NATION OF WAR AND FIRE WHILE A GEO BABY IS GETTING THE TOURNAMENT ARCH!? WHY AM I HERE!? I'm chillin in Avatar the Way of Water instead of trying to talk to the Pyro Archon or find my sister and I could not care less about anything Mualani has to say to me while i'm here. And now after the Attack, i just realized the Child is the Chief of the Water tribe.....WHY!?
I disagree that Nahida is a bad Archon. Unlike all the other Archons, the problem with her country was not of her own making and she tried to help how she could. I think she is either the second or third best Archon behind ZL and maybe Venti.
@@shadowpriest2574 I didnt say she was bad at being an Archon, I said Furina was bad at being an Archon and was detrimental to her kingdom. The only things I dislike about Nahida is the fact she's a baby character, I much prefer the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata design. And I dont rly care much for the forgetful character with poor social skills archetype. She's cute and powerful enough to be a must-pull, but thats about it for me. So far I'd say the best Archons are Mavuika Zhongli and Neuvillette, then Nahida, then Raiden and Venti.
@@lsaacthecraftsmanReal. The writers butchered her character so bad. And for what? So she could go on a date with traveler, despite trying to kill them TWICE? LMAO. Her character is a joke.
@@bread4break Traveler treats her better than Lyney, Furina or Scara who allegedly are traumatised people who did far less worse than her in terms of damage it drives me crazy. Is it justified hate? Topaz had intense hate because crybabies didn't understand the concept of a debt, and got mad at her because she tried to settle a debt the Guardians of Belobog took centuries ago.
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض Jade got hated for "owning" Aventurine in 2.1 cutscene, while in reality she was actually the one that saved his ass from IPC who was trying to kill him. I bet these people are those fan-girls that cannot read the story properly.
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض The IPC conveniently gives a massive loan to help them, then stops giving a shit the moment the planet is suspected of being dead via Nanook. Whoops, they are actually alive and barely scraping by, I guess the debt magically comes back to existence and it's used to effectively colonize and enslave Belabog. Why do people hate Topaz? Simple - she justifies it because... she grew dirt poor, then the IPC saved it. So, all the morally evil deeds are fine because she... is incredibly biased and is clearly shown to not understand the negative parts of the IPC. It's fine to have a character be morally grey or outright evil, but the story portrays Topaz as never doing anything wrong, conveniently making her give back Belabog's autonomy at the last second, pretty much throwing all the conflict out the window due to Topaz having a "okaaaaaay I guess I won't colonize you to death, I'm sowy I'm good now" moment. Mihoyo has a consistent track record of making the IPC the ultimate bad guys, but don't have the balls to keep it like that. They nuke entire systems, soft-lobby the Lofu, point a gun at Penacony's head to come back into their hands - but the IPC never loses, nor does it get any negativity.

He had a special connection to that whale but his involvement is just poorly written. He just happens to be in Fontaine and gets accused of murder for no reason.
Dude I love when I am slightly immersed in a story and they just throw in a huge black screen wall of text jumpscare that describes something instead of actually showing it, 13 paragraphs of an essay
They actually keep doing it in Natlan too holy shit
They will never change...
At this point maybe it's better not to tell a main story anymore, just more region, characters, and world quests 🤣 because they can't storytell shit
Nah it is actually a one of the few smart moves by genshin otherwise the ccp would put pressure on them
Blade is not a bad person he is actually a good guy tho@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض

I felt the disconnect between lore and story ever since the ending of Inazuma storyline. It's like the writers want to tell better stories, but are only allowed to put them into snippets of lore tucked away in some random items descriptions and side quests a small percentage of players will even see.
Think how amazing this story would be if we were allowed to see at least half of these snippets. It's such a shame.
Yup right about inazuma
Uhhh, there's literally a Genshin Impact Wikipedia if you wanna read those. The lore is all stitched there. 😂😂
1)Lyney and Lynette weren't advertising their magic show ,they were handing out magic pockets for spreading awareness about the prophecy
2) t3:06 correction there ,she WAS waiting for us the whole time.(also, we didn't just pop into fontaine, there was a whole sumeru section that i recommend you refresh your memory on)
3) 5:10 what?
Tks you ,someone call out ,one thing is critic ot but thos vid feel like misleading on purperse
@@BruceWayne-sw5xe
On the 3rd point:
Well ,not just the Narwhal, Skirk and Surtalogi are also linked to him, there's a reason his combat style is called "Foul Legacy".
On the 9th point:
That is highly subjective, for example,i didn't feel that emotional during the Nahida and Rukkhadevata scene(although the music did make me feel it a lil bit later). The guy was very objective with this point,so I pointed out that this topic was completely subjective.
On the 8th point:
Well, the base themes are similar and should be similar given the similar circumstances.
Don't mention HI3 bruh, that's the reason I'm still kinda following genshin hoping the story could at least match its epicness
@@kaih_the_viewerIt's because of the Chinese audience. They don't want characters that bring aspects of conflict to the game.
Hell it only showed up *after* everyone had not only died but had been resurrected.
I think you are the first person who i have encountered who actually read that diary lmao. Props to you
Hearing "Furina was tricked into attending a trial, where she has to defend herself from her people. But unfortunately she ended up breaking down defeated as she couldn't prove her innocence." does sound incredible on paper, especially when the execution was.. Far from appealing.
Who's the youtuber I wanna give it a watch
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض bro the house of the hearth is literally introduced in the aranara quest wtf are u talking about?
Rhodeia is actualy schizo thinking Fontaine wanted her dead (I am not joking) and the spring fairy wasn't retconned to my knowledge?
Honestly genshin is not same anymore the joy is no longer can be found i skiped half of Fontaine story and directly to natlan story .but its just dull i still remember teppai the anger to beat the shit out of scaramouch ,i can't feel emotional attachment to the characters of the story in the fontaine .i don't know why i can't feel it .And i don't like when our main character is just passively thrown into some nations problem it is not our problem to save their nation.

Next thing you're gonna tell me is Natlan is a failure because it's called the Nation of War but doesn't go full Modern Warfare or Battlefield 5.

*You'll notice that each Gnosis scene is worse than the last.*
Anemo: Venti who manages to overpower Dvalin to save him with minimum harm, gets overpowered by Signora. (People make the argument that Venti was defeated because he wasn't in people's presence for so long, but same can be said about Nahida being locked away for 500 years and holding herself against Scaramouche.)
Geo: Zhongli has signed a contract to give away his Gnosis. Tough but fair.. Except for the part where the contract has a non-disclosure agreement. Why would the contract have a clause that pretty much says. "If some Traveler from another world happens to figure out your secret identity, you're not allow tell them anything lmao"
Electro: Scaramouche confronts you in a room, and uses this unknown unexplained never brought up again black smoke that makes angry people pass out, and Miko just happens to show up.
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض You know, you're right. I never even noticed that. I was looking at everything other than those scenes.
None of the pertinent quests about it were even required prior the playing the chapter
What I mean to say is that the story exposition for key story elements like the HoH should be woven into the main questline, ensuring it fits the story's pacing and doesn't require players to explore side quests to get vital context.
as longtime players we tend to forget this, but this actually applies to most plot points.
Usually all of this is already planned a few months prior
Wuwa story is the best gacha story of all time and the character design are better than genshlob
Even though I like Fontaine, I'm excited to hear your opinion about it!
@@Hotaru_ko I guess that's what four years of looking for your slibing in Teyvat does to a mf 😂
In all seriousness yeah the Traveller is tired, but he/she knows what happened and could at the very least make Paimon back off a bit.
(although we don't even know how that will prove you're the Hydro Archon.)
Furina touches the water and she's not the Hydro Archon because she was..
If I could add a little more to the fontaine story to make it better, I'd extend the part where you say goodbye to your sumeru friends by a little and maybe add some more reasoning why we should go to fontaine (like natlan is right there, what is the reason not to go there),
and add more to the end of the story by having another part with focalors by showing us that time she was beneath the sea just thinking (like what she said, show, dont tell) and more with focalors so we could have that attachment with her like you said
heck, that cutscene of "sinner's finale" was really good and emotional, but damn would I be sobbing for days if we were given a ledge to grasp who focalors is and get attached to her, for her to inevitably execute herself
Saying goodbye to our friends kinda felt insulting.. We just happened to run into Dehya and they casually drop the excuse that "Oh, we always leave without saying goodbye".... Why? What's the reason?
Plus, I'm pretty sure we said goodbye to Amber and Venti before we left, so that logic doesn't add up
?
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض yeah, i feel they should have added more to that, its like joining a party then just dipping out.

Just curious, do you have any plans to review the story of Honkai Star Rail in the future? I’d love to hear your thoughts on that as well!
Yes! More than likely!
Hm, I see, fair points and opinions, it’s a shame you feel this way, hopefully the Storytelling improves enough as it goes,
Also, while I see what you mean about Focalor, however the small amount of time we spent with her and learned about her, was enough for me to consider her as one of my favorite Characters, I just respect Characters that managed to fool Gods, I guess.
"Anyway, Sumeru and Fontaine both didn’t have any lead up to them, really?"
I guess it really depends... there was some lead up in the previous update.
@@greenlineessays I see, fair points.
Personally.
@@greenlineessays Yeah, even though I think it's a little unfortunate for in depth discussions, the meta do be kinda overpowered
Same with Childe being sent to jail. Sure, him picking a fight with Neuvillette is in character, but out of nowhere he is the next suspect without any build up or reason.
It is terribly written)
3 - The protags actually have their own goal in the story, one that they constantly remind you of.
@@فهدالدوسري-ح6ض Thanks I need to hear that!
Biggest mistake was how they handled childe imo. They introduced 50 different plot points regarding h im that went nowhere

Idk feels like plot convience
Childe feels kind of overwrought as a character.
one thing I have to add to the Furrina being referenced as the hydro archon after the main story quest is that her and Folcalor are one in the same, it's just that Furrina is the human part of her while Folcalor is the Divine part of her, so even tho Folcalor died, a part of her still lived on and I think that is why Furrina is still refered to as the Hydro archon bcs she technically is, also if I remember correctly.

I also argue the meropide is the necessary evil for players to get a glimpse of what furina feels when she is imprisoned as the acting archon for 500 years.
yeah but consider the following: navia is hot
You got me there
You do have a point...
Iv always had a theory that Genshin does have competent writers but Da wei gets to involved in its direction resulting in what we get. Id be willing to bet that his involvement is directly correlated to how shit the writing is going to be
My theory was that there was a clash of writers, because the writing contradict itself a lot.
But she showed up in act 1. Like, a lot. You could even argue she was an antagonist for the main conflict of act 1.
@@RangeCMYK I said after Act 1.
Well lets look at it:
1. Befriend Neuvilette
2. Create Furina
3. Gather Indemnidium from the Oratrice
4. Hope that Neuv loves humans after 500 years of living among them
5. Kill yourself

It's much better to try to be humble
No not bedtime story please...I can't you understand 20 percent of the plot congratulations just take what you can and be happy with it I can't explain every quest in the game up to this point and that is needed for you to understand anything at all.
I personally love the lore and world building of Genshin, and despise how much the storytelling ruins it for me. Its a train wreck I can't resist.
For me the only big problem was the interactions between traveller-childe and traveller when he found out about the twins being fatui
I mean it had NOTHING to do whit the case and 5 minutes before traveller almost shaked hands whit a jack ass who tried to destroy one nation and kill him.
Traveller acted like he was stabbed in the back which was overreacting A LOT in that situation
They didnt tell him they were Fatui but why would they do that?
Yep, everyone falling for the heartateing pulls once again. The story is still ass
My points are more so targeted at the lack of logic of the AQ:
" I disagree.
Lets start from the start, with the whole Lyney trial:
So lets go through her plan:
1. Go to the bottom of the sea and think of a solution.
2. Found the solution.
3. Make Furina in order to have a replacement
4. Gethers indemnidium.
5. Befriend Neuv and make him love humans.
6. W8 500 years to gather indemnidium.
7. Kill yourself in order to give the Hydro Authority to Neuv.
8. Neuv makes the humans of Fontaine actual Humans.
The problem with her plan is that :
Unless she knew that the Heavens are asleep, in which case, why did her plan not just go this way:
Fontaine AQ is without a doubt one of the worst AQ to date if not the worst."
"There's quite a few people who just disagree with me. "
I know. The one that irks me the most is when they said that Furina was informed by a spy from Sumeru that you came so it was not convenient that she knew....... except:
That was not as much work, because it was a quote of myself from another comment, tho that was some work back then.
"I honestly think all this could be fixed with a simple solution: flesh everything out far more than they already have. All we get at the end of the day is the bear ** minimum. "
Yep, its honestly soo dissapointing that they settle for the bare minimum while bombarding us with new mysteries while expecting us to just be excited for the new mystery and ask no questions.
" If nouvellette could turn the people back into humans, why couldn't Focalor?"
I actually have less of a problem with that angle since :
Yeah, that is stupid, but its obvious why when you reflect on what you see in the quests themselves.
I thought:
Omg !
@@shadowpriest2574 "as if saving her , with them , was more important than saving her at all. It's like they knew the plot beforehand or didn't expect anything worse to happen to Nahida. Thought considering how they made Dottore a downgrade from how he was in the manga and how he acted in the backstory lore, they might have expected him to just gloat or something.
And yeah, read this comment chain a little(still didn't check the video itself though), to get some ideas for my fanfic series' "Fontaine side story".
But reading more about the Sumeru quest, I am really glad I went with the "there's a male Archon in Sumeru, but he is a fake Archon the Sages put so that no one finds out the true Archon is imprisoned", amongst some other things.
Though Collei goes through a lot in my version, what is with Dottore experimenting on her(for her sealed power) and turning her into something like Father Anderson in Hellsing Ultimate(which where i actually got the idea from+the fact Collei uses Dendro Vision).

*Recently I am just checking GI story when I need info for my fanfiction series, dropped playing it after Ei's date quest.
I don’t know if any you guys remember but I was so disappointed that they didn’t go with the “Focalors killed the OG Archon” (It was a highly popular theory) it could have been made into such a great plot line
- Why did Focalors kill the OG Hydro Archon, and what were her reasons.
- Is this truly justice ??
Also a lot of people thought that Focalors was the most loyal to (She’s the God of Justice after all ) Celestia, again could have been a great story line
- Is she trying to cover smth. up by judging the other Archons
- etc.
So far every Archon has been a “version of the previous one”
- Ei & Makoto
- Nahida & Rukkhadevata
- Focalors & Egeria (all those she’s a familiar)
It all feels repetitive and can we talk about how almost ALL of the Archons are females ??? It could have been cool of the Dendro Archon was a male (Atleast they made Xbalanque a male ) But NO , they made all of them women in order for more money
Tbh Fontaine could have involved a Character being murdered (Furina maybe ) since well NPCs have literally no impact in the story but a character dying HAS IMPACT , Genshin is reluctant to kill of a character for the sake of Money and basically almost all of the Character Story Quest being a “date”
That would have been so freaking cool!!!
"can we talk about how almost ALL of the Archons are females???"
I like to think that Neuvillette is the hydro archon. He's obviously not, he's the dragon sovereign. But I like to think that he fills the role of archon for Fontaine. You know, just to fill out the roster.
@@greenlineessays Right ? And that explains why all of the “older” Oceanids don’t like Focalors ( I don’t think they covered that in the AQ or WQ )
But Neuvilette does fit the role of an “Archon” :)

Tbf they really don't mind put a new male archon but sadly the game got infested by one of the toxic fujos which already make the game have bad reputation. I mean... I praised a couple things about Fontaine. Not everything there was horrible, did you... watch the video?
@@greenlineessays Are sure, because you just like people who hate the game more than people enjoying and playing the game
(Later it's actually rolling back the idea that the Fatui come before everything else in their lives.)
It's a reach, but I guess the MC's issue could be that he knows Futui will put their own morals 2nd to orders.
"Furina timing her appearance was foreshadowed with the very 1st scene of the archon quest."
Was it?
"The npc that appears at the end of the trial is the same thief they are trying to catch earlier"
The one that Lyney and the traveler caught yeah?
"Also Childe is the exception, not the rule."
No, no he isn't. I even spent a few minutes going over that fact. After him we have:
1. Ei, The Raiden Shogun
The Raiden Shogun Was a tyrant that controlled her people.
2. Scaramouche
Actively threatened us along with our friends.
3. Arlecchino
Is a harbinger and runs an intelligence network that's not afraid to get their hands dirty. She also attacked Furina.
these are not simply misunderstood people. They are portrayed as antagonists and villains with horrendous crimes for some of them (The Doctor) But because Hoyo Want you to pull for these characters, they can't exactly make them dictators, murderers, and assassins.
Can’t wait.
i honestly stopped paying attention to the storyline when fontaine came around, i just got real tired of the use of the same hand animation and facial expression and the reallyyy boring dialog and the shitty characters that i really don't care about and many other reasons that you have mentioned in your videos, the only reason i sometime play the game it's because i have already put so much of my time on this game, it feels hard to fully quit after you have put so much of your time already, great videos btw i will keep an eye for future videos
It has Inazuma's trash pacing and Mond archon quest level story
review hsr story! :D
Can someone explain why they were attacked by mechs in the first place? Did someone hack them? Are evil mech just sprinkled around? WHY??
In-game, they were sent by Marcel/Vacher to kill the Traveler for helping Lyney and Lynette and save them from being framed by him. The guy is super rich and apparently can afford an army of mechs.
In reality, it was a cheap one time plot device to force the Traveler to change their mind to help Navia since they refused for no reason other than to pad the story.
in reality in reality, it was a cheap one time plot device to show off some action into an otherwise slogfest of a plot. And also to sell characters.
27:18 Traveler spoke 😮
Wow! Where does that make now? Maybe a whole 10 lines of dialog!?
Lol, I remember back in 1.1 when Traveler spoke after saving Liyue, I was so excited for some reason.
But now, ironically I wish they'd keep their mouth shut as what they say often tend to be less than appealing.
Sandwhiched between the Samsara arc and the Tribal War arc, Fontaine stands out as a poorly constructed murder mystery plot
LETSSS GOOO IVE BEEN WAITINNG FOR THIS ONE WE ALL APPLAUDED
Let bro cook
If you didn't you'd see that it fit the situation
3:05 you missed the dialogie with Dehya. Not only that, your first critique of spawning the fontaine makes you look silly
3:45 not about fontaine but, dude.
This is straight out of a meme subreddit
12:30 this is the part of the game where you literally challenge a god when you just need an answer to a question and nothing more.
13:20 I guess you haven't played Li Yue quest too and just read it off the wiki because to not see a parallel between Childe betrayal and this whole thing is... bruh
13:38 dude. The closest we actually gotten to being buddy with him was in Labyrinth warriors event, and even that was basically filler. Childe's quest starts and ends with you still being able to antagonize him, the only reason you don't try to fight him or actively go against him is due to his little brother
14:00 you don't remember shit
14:08 bro hates the idea of having morally grey characters or organizations
20:50 I actually agree with almost all your criticisms, the whole thing was an utter waste of time just made so we could see 2 plot devices.
To actually say those are similar is to say that you are a smoothbrain that saw two characters sacrificing themselves and went "hurhur sAmE"
25:16 you are the only one who doesn't remember and acted on the first impulse when you noticed similarities
25:27 💀💀💀 I needn't say more
26:17 if you want backstory to Egeria do the fuckin questline near a big tree with npc called Sorush. Dude, you even get all the lore thoroughly chewed to you and puked onto a platter the moment the court finishes in the last minute because the game knows people like you don't even play or listen
27:32 this one took me out. She offed herself EXACTLY so nothing would happen, it's so thoroughly chewed through the dialogue I just can't even take you half seriously anymore
30:10 💀💀💀 you get answers to all of that either from Dainsleif, books, other characters or tone
31:24 yeah I had the same reaction, but I don't understand why you weren't more mad by how the whole thing is erased from Travellers mind
32:37 the fact that you consider Li Yue peak really puts it all into perspective. It had by far the most flavor dialogue and useless encounters just for us to see or meet people when actual story happened in like 3 moments at best
33:08 alright I can't take it anymore and will go straight to conclusion.
True, that guy doesn't know what he is doing.
@@Richkero1995 Yeah he actually liked Furinas part in the story.
The Dream quest was staggeringly dull
The fact that Paimon is still around, the dialogue is unbearably long and has no skip button, and even worse, at some point, we stopped getting two dialogue options and just get two halves of the same dialogue, literally what is the point in us picking between the first and second half of a sentence!
Liking raiden makes your opinion trash
@@lsaacthecraftsmanReal. The writers butchered her character so bad. And for what? So she could go on a date with traveler, despite trying to kill them TWICE? LMAO. Her character is a joke.
@@bread4break Traveler treats her better than Lyney, Furina or Scara who allegedly are traumatised people who did far less worse than her in terms of damage it drives me crazy. The way they behave with absolute contempt with Paimon with those 3 while raiden gets « dango for u mah queen now let’s heal you trauma despite having no consequence of action towards your people »
Its good, different people has different perspective my guy, there is no good or bad nor right and wrong in this existence, it's depending on the person's perspective, so its good, atleast for me

You want villain? Introducing Jade, the most hated character in HSR for some reason
@@jerryeljeremy7790 Even if she owned him, and used him to an extent.. His life with her was heaven compared to the hell he endured.
How's the state of the game now(?), stopped playing mid fontaine, anything good happen?
Not Really.

Nah, this whole video isn't objective. It would be a waste of time to actually try to refute everything that's being said.
Then don't bother commenting.
He had a special connection to that whale but his involvement is just poorly written. He just happens to be in Fontaine and gets accused of murder for no reason. He doesn't even have that important of a role, he just kinda holds off the narwhal for a bit. There's absolutely nothing compelling about his presence in the quest.
