Yeah, agreed. We learned a lot from this particular interview. I have loved doing the sound WHILE interviewing. It just felt like a fun touch that was unique to us, but the more I do it, I realize it's not the best way we can be capturing sound. We run into issues that are hard for me to catch while mixing, talking, and moving around in front of the camera. @@KyllandMusic I had one of those moments recording a radio documentary where I just couldn't tell if the sound was any good because I had to juggle many roles at once (interviewing while booming and mixing, walking with my mom). 25:20 - camera doesn't pay a penny for their gear in general, where us, sound people do. So yeah there is no patience, but it's ridiculous same time. I do love your rigs though. Love colour coding. Follow cart is quite large indeed, but I can't agree more, that it's good to have all you need accessible at all times. Really fun.
Have you asked a DP under 30 if they pay for their gear? Or a 1AC? Speaking with 17 years of experience in the camera department here, the real shame is not getting a kit rental fee for standard day rates equivalents. Sound is taking it on the chin the same as other departments.
@@christophschultz3500 good on ya. But in reality most of camera crew barely owns anything. Unless it's a union show or a small budget film where DP owns everything.
