I use blender on a MacBook, and also have an iPad. I found that if you connect your iPad to your computer with a charging cable, you can screen mirror your laptop screen onto the iPad. With this, you can use an iPad as a drawing tablet for blender if you have an Apple Pencil!
I love how much information you can pack into a single sentence. I came here to learn texture painting, as a bonus I learned how to use UV smart unwrap, space out the islands, and select linked groups. That's all I needed to know for UV unwrapping, and now I don't need to take the time to watch a UV tutorial. Honestly, your video's are saving me a lot of time. Thanks! I'll be buying some of your files from gumroad as soon as I get paid. Really interested in your procedural materials.
this video was so helpful omg!! Thank you thank you thank you!! I loved how you explained why you did things, made so much more sense than just trying to remember the hotkeys.
I had to go away and learn Blender after first seeing your videos and now they're great. Really well done, looking forward to wroking through the playlist. Thanks
In case anyone is having problems with texture paint and not being able to paint at certain angles there is a sneakily hidden options tab in the texture paint window if you drag the window further to the left, if you click on the options tab and then uncheck Occlude that should make it so that you can now draw at any angle. I don't know what to do about the issue of not being able to draw depending on how much you zoom in but I hope that helps someone. Edit: Now I think about it that might be dependent on the resolution you pick for your texture, but can't remember for sure
Another great video, Ryan. Thank you. May I ask: In blender 4 and up shift x doesn't seem to sample the exact color, but rather the sampler is affected by the lighting. Is there a way to fix this without going into flat? Thank you very much in advance!
It's wonderful. How fluently our teacher is speaking and nonetheless I can mostly understand him. But here is my problem : take the basic cube, give it a base color. I can draw upon it. But as sson as I come back in edit mode, if I drag only a point to change the volume, my drawing changes too in a dramatic way. Is there some setting to prevent this problem ?
yes, the tutorial does start there, but if I can't make income from my videos, then I wouldn't have the time to make them, so that's why I have sponsorships, or a support message, at the starting of my videos. Hope you understand.
Now everything I know about texture painting I learned here. And how to set up my pen for Blender. One remark "S" does not work anymore it uses "Shift-X" now
So should something be overlapping, how would you fix that, what I mean is when its like two 3D parts were just slammed together, so selecting it doesn't fix it, not like I can move it to another bald spot right?
Don't make the same mistake as me, I bought a tablet for texture painting and I never managed to use this function in Blender, whatever I do nothing happens with the brushes. But hey I use it for drawing so it's okay. By the way, is there an addon to do what he does in his tutorial? notably the implementation of the workflow to be able to paint on an object?
First of all congratulations for the video, but I have a question about how I bake my textures, diffuse, normal, roughness, ambient occlusion, etc. to export to another graphics software, including the colors of the color attributes. I can't wait and thank you in advance and suggest creating a video on the subject
I'm using the Huion Kamvas GT 191, although its an older model, and is out of production now. I have links in the description to a newer version that Huion has made.
I've done everything at the start of the video, but Blender will just not let me paint onto my model and it's very frustrating. Does anyone have any tips? :(
Out right upon clicking shading tab my screen is different than the one demonstrated on. Shader editor , is beneath the pumpkin.. I have experimented & moved bits about , with much anguish & no success ! I am giving up on you for the moment !
Eyedropper doesn't seem to come out when I hold S. I checked my keymap it says Eyedropper is bind in E as a default. That key don't work either. How to get eyedropper?
ok but like no video goes in to anything about what to do with your texture after youve saved it.... ive saved mine and i try and reopen it ui uv editor because it doesnt load automatically and when i do nothing changes on my actual model. im too stupid to figure this out i just wanna paint stuff and save it
How to convert gimp/photoshop/substance painter/clip studio paint brushes to Blender texture painting texture mask pngs? I really don't like that there is just 1 brush.
yeah as far as I know there is no erase tool or layers option. if your painting on a solid background color, you could paint with that color to erase your painting.
Immediately just failed at starting drawing. Im drawing , im drawing , im drawing, nothing's happening, no strokes, am i just cursed, brush opacity is 100%, I am Drawing in Texture Painting mode, Im drawing on the right Image Texture, Is this the work of the Devil, everything looks correct, ive followed everything to a T, im gonna go bash my head on the wall now. WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM. JUST MAKE IT EMPTY. EMPTY. JUST MAKE IT EMPTY. GOD.

The dynamic of your voice is like a straight line, so annoying with constant speed, no break no breathing, nearly impossible to focus on content...sorry but I got to tell you. Thanks for tutorial anyway.
I actually find a mouse easier than a tablet. I always find with a tablet that my hand position is way off compared to the screen. For example I am drawing in the centre of the screen and my hand is in the bottom left of the tablet. So you are constantly adjusting the hand position. It is so unintuitive.
Hmm yeah I see. Although not having pen pressure is a big downside to using a mouse. Are you using a pad tablet, or a screen tablet? I really like display tablets because your actually drawing on the screen surface.
@@anth5189 I use a Gaomon PD1560 which is a fairly decent display tablet and it's only around $200 USD usually. It's also a 15" display. Great budget display tablet.

It requires a very specific set of devices, I know, but I’m a college student and having this set of three devices is pretty common on my campus
That's very cool! Thanks for sharing. I don't really use Apple products much, but that's a great solution for people with Mac computers and I-pads! 👍
Pro tip
I have an iPad and apple pencil, but I don't have a Mac yet so ima jump to buy a graphics tablet
u dont need the cable! turn in bluetooth on both devices and connect them to the same wifi network and u can do the same

Ryan, you have such a smooth style. Precise, to the point, and very informative without all the fluff. Thank you so much!

Haven’t watched the full video, but half an hour of Blender goodness? Thank you Ryan for making this video👍👍
You're welcome! Hope people find it helpful!

thanks for the sub!
just to inform : to sample the color use shift X, i suppose it was S before but not anymore. ^^
thank you very much ! 🤩
Awesome tutorial! Thanks a lot.
you are amazing best wishes for three generations

Big help, thanks a lot.

Sampling color in blender 4.1 changed from s to shift x
could you make a tutorial on how to use the mask brush?
Is there any way to lock the brush to an axis? It can be very finicky to make a straight line when covering a large area.

alright nvm, I figured it out, just gotta pack the islands and relocate them for editing, then place them back

I think the shortcut key got changed in the new Blender version

it was changed to shift X in Blender 4.0

did you apply the mirror modifier on your object?
