I love your name. I don't know if its your real name, Ross Spencer. But it made me really laugh and smile. 😂😁 reason is because I work at a store called Ross. And I also work at a store called Spencer's. 😂😂😂 so when people ask where I work I say, "I work at Ross and Spencer's" 😂😂😂
Anyways, awesome name!! 😁😄

Used to work for BlockBuster way back. I can definitely say that there were times I had to call parents of young children when they were trying to rent an M rated game or an R-rated movie without their parents around. Only time I would call for PG-13 was if they had a memo in their file saying "Please call if so-and-so is renting". Most of the times I just asked the parent when they came inside the store with the kids, and if they said yes, I left it at that. As for late-fees, my place was one that made it MANDATORY that staff check the drop off box three times a day, once in the morning, middle of day, and before close so such mistakes like that NEVER happened, almost never mind you. Nothing worse than embarrassing yourself over not properly checking in the returns... though lots of times I would have to call people about them returning just the empty case... and lots of times people did still have the movies or games, despite saying they didn't only to later come back once we told them exactly how many copies we had and the one copy that wasn't in the system was the one that was last rented by them and saying "oh, I just forgot." or "I must have mixed it in with my own collection." Wiped everything save a week late fee fine for wasting our time if they were shitty. Also true about the Netflix scenario... my manager was shaking his head saying "our company is run by stubborn idiots". Best job of my life... shame it came to an end.
Blockbuster was the shit I literally cried whenever I saw it go out

I just finally watched this video and as a EX-blockbuster employee, everything you said was spot-on. Also, when I was working a BB, there was a time when video games started to go missing and eventually they started doing one on one's and asked questions about the missing games. I'm was really worried, but at the same time, I wouldn't risk a paycheck to steal a scratchy-ass disk, and told them the truth that I did not take anything. A month later, I find out from my co-workers that BB management installed a camera outside and INSIDE the drop-box. One of the employees was CAUGHT on camera swiping a video game disk and seen putting into his pocket. Eventually I did quit blockbuster before they crumbled to dust, I could tell what was coming considering their mistake for not taking the netflix deal when they had a chance.
I miss my childhood and I remember getting my first blockbuster card when I got it when I turned 13 and I felt like I was going to a nightclub before I turned 18

Blockbuster was riiiight before my days. My hometown still had one when I was growing up, but I never saw anyone go in or out of that building. Going back years later, it's like that building is cursed. NOBODY has touched it since Blockbuster was taken out of it. You can still see the stain on the wall above where the door was that used to have a blockbuster logo on it....
So sweet of the girl staff to take the time to call the mom and warn her to protect the child, shes a human

I remember playing Pokemon Snap/Pokemon Stadium demo on the N64 in there too.
I feel so old..
YEP. now remember Gen 1 Pokemon came out in 1997... 22yrs ago
Those were my favorite pokemon games. Remember how the 64 had to controler attachment that let you hook up your gameboy cartridge so you could add your pokemon from the gameboy games onto pokemon stadium/ pokemon Colosseum?
I was alive and young during Blockbuster and I remember seeing it from the outside a lot but I think I only ever went inside a few times

Those are interesting stories! I remember all the good times I had at Blockbuster growing up!
I am 14 and I remember going into blockbuster when I was like 4 or something around there and it feeling so cool because my dad would always get either a movie for our family to watch or a video game for our Xbox 360 and sometimes candy
All I can say is that it was epic and I remember a few years later asking my dad if we could go to blockbuster and he was like
“Sorry Buddy, they went out of business.”
Sad times
Edit: the sad times was in like 2015 like a year after they closed
