She thought it was just another song, at her young age, not aware that this will be her the top hit song of her carrier. Epic! Listening it for 40 years.
Wow! How lucky you are to see that! I drive around Birmingham uk listening to this song all the time and I’d give anything to see her perform this here today.
@Syd_Lloyd I was there when she performed this song at the Odeon Theatre Birmingham on February 9, 1981. I already knew it from her album Pieces of the Sky but a live performance has vibe that a recording cannot match.
The best alternative of this I've heard is by Jessie Buckley. But this is and always will be Emmylou's masterpiece. Brilliant songwriting & wonderful performance. One of my favourite musicians.
Boulders in my head and filtering down to my Heart 💜 over you and just the thought of you is like to an exquisite Birmingham Smile on my face...happens every time then I see your face and it happens every time and time again... when will I ever LEARN ???...hey buddy could you spare a dime... I got to get to Birmingham come hell or high water... now let me see... hmm... how many dimes is that at today's crossroads...boy I need a few more hands!!! AND not to mention a few more dimes... I won't even mention that other nickel I need to rub together...I come to the conclusion that notwithstanding its reputation hope's main function is to rope a dope... seems rational, wouldn't you say?
মরুভূমিতে ছিলাম, প্রেমের গান শুনতে চাই না..বোল্ডার থেকে বার্মিংহাম পর্যন্ত হেঁটে যাব.. 😭😞 Lyrics: I don't wanna hear a love song I got on this airplane just to fly And I know there's life below me But all that you can show me is a prairie and the sky And I don't wanna hear a sad story Full of heartbreak and desire The last time I felt like this I was in the wilderness and the canyon was on fire And I stood on the mountain In the night and I watched it burn I watched it burn, I watched it burn I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham I would hold my life in his saving grace I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham If I thought I could see, I could see your face Well, you really got me this time And the hardest part is knowing I'll survive I've come to listen for the sound Of the trucks as they move down out on ninety-five And pretend that it's the ocean Coming down to wash me clean, to wash me clean Baby, do you know what I mean I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham I would hold my life in his saving grace I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham If I thought I could see, I could see your face If I thought I could see, I could see your face
Written for Gram Parsons after his death, the sincerity and passion of this tribute is a masterpiece of grace and honor.

My favorite song of hers. Never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
I was in the audience watching her singing this song in Birmingham (UK) about 25/30 years ago ... and I can still remember the concert ...
I saw her do this song for the first time shortly after Bill Monroe died. It was a very emotional experience...
How wonderful it must have been!!!!
Listen to Albert Lee. The guitar just sings

Lyrics:
I don't wanna hear a love song
I got on this airplane just to fly
And I know there's life below me
But all that you can show me is a prairie and the sky
And I don't wanna hear a sad story
Full of heartbreak and desire
The last time I felt like this
I was in the wilderness and the canyon was on fire
And I stood on the mountain
In the night and I watched it burn
I watched it burn, I watched it burn
I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face
Well, you really got me this time
And the hardest part is knowing I'll survive
I've come to listen for the sound
Of the trucks as they move down out on ninety-five
And pretend that it's the ocean
Coming down to wash me clean, to wash me clean
Baby, do you know what I mean
I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face
If I thought I could see, I could see your face
😢😢😢😢😮😅
