- Here is some footage that I shot of the Ohio State campus in October of 1986, with my Panasonic 1-piece camcorder (new technology back then!) This is part 2 of 2.
Never, Ever, delete this footage! REAL history! Thanks for posting!
Trust me, it's not going anywhere!!!
Now this is OSU I remember. Flying Tomato Pizza, Longs Book Store, Magnolias, great times and great memories!
Lovely to see this, it brings back great memories!
I don't know if I'd want to go back to stay (maybe for just a visit), but 1986 looks like "home" to me.
Glad you captured this for history. OSU is just nothing but heartless apartments.
I didn't go to Osu until fall of 05' but this campus feels closer to the one I knew and loved than what they did to it in the last few years.
Fabulous. I remember School Kids, Singing Dog, Magnolia Thundepussy record stores. The Bally Arcade, midnight movies, Newport Dance Hall. Awesome times.
I’m watching this in 2024 in Columbus oh and if this man is alive today he’d really see how much has changed since 1986 😊 this is great love looking back to see where we came from
Oh, I'm still very much alive! Maybe this year I'll make another trip down there and re-shoot everything, in 4K video! My best friend still lives in Dublin.
@@videoholicreturns oh wonderful 🙌🏾 yes please come back! I can’t wait
We featured your great video on Vintage Columbus this weekend. Sure hope you got lots of likes and views, @videoholicreturns!
Great!! Thank you!!!!
Our pleasure. Looks like hits on this video jumped quite a lot. I featured Part 1 on VC today. Hits are 3775 with 11 likes currently. Let's see what happens. :-)
wow the street scene...one of my first jobs i had when i moved to cols was there...it's now a chipotle...it's so interesting to see what's changed and what hasn't
No cell phones these was the best days
It was so different then. Smart phones really changed life.
man I wanna go back to this time! people seemed happier, no one walking around with a cell phone attached to the side of their head that one lady was like "Take a picture of me!" nowadays they'd be like "get that f*&* camera out of my face!" definitely better times, the 80s...
Well there was also the constant and very real threat of Nuclear war with a REAL superpower looming over your head.
@@kyle2625 people,had faith in reagan
ppl weren’t any happier
@@kyle2625 there always seems to be some boogey man threat to keep us in fear.
I used to live on the corner of 17th and Pearl ... a long time ago :)
Zantigos!
Nice footage of High St back in the day, before the Cowtown became a city.
6:15 Rax Value Express...
Look. Not a freak to be found. People just being People. No purple hair, no dudes in drag. Just a normal time with normal people. Great video.
The Union building is gone? I used to work in the basement at Shakey's Pizza in lsate 74 and 75, and then at the Juice Factory where we made smoothies and sandwiches. Used to shop at Pearl Alley and the record store that was on the lower level of a building on High St. LOVED Street Scene Pizza and Quizno's. I lived down on 11th near the bridge and then on 14th. It doesn't even look the same here in '86.
The Union was tore down and rebuilt. I worked at OSU from 1979-2010.I worked in Lord hall which is now gone. I remember all this. I was just thinking of the Street Scene the other day.
hilarious... seeing people w/ video cameras was such a novelty...
The day prior to this video, the Buckeyes played a home game, in which they beat Illinois, 14-0.
