    Very smart in appealing to the masses than weekend warriors. Keep it simple! Much larger market. Targeting the chord shapes is really good info.

    2 videos in a week Awesome Guthrie. Killer lesson. Getting to the 7, using the triads and shapes, and understanding the why's and how's. That is what your lessons have done for me. Anyone watching this, that is where I was, trying to understand intervallic theory, what the 1, 4, 5 chords even are? And what notes to play over and through a progression? Start at the beginning of Guthrie's videos a few months ago, maybe March, and watch up to this point. I promise, you'll get more out of it than most lessons you pay for online! A huge testimony to how good Guthrie's Artistworks and private lessons must be. I'm Saving for them. He just has a superbly intelligible way of helping you understand this stuff. Thank you so much Guthrie, glad to see you're back.

Had to cancel my trip this year because of covid... if and when I get back I want to shake your hand brother. Awesome ... if you dont understand where the licks come from then it's just imitating... great information for beginners and others. Cheers from downunder

    Hey GT! Thanks again. I appreciate your approach and the way you break it down. Please do advertise your services as this is also about making a living. GT your explanation of the CAGE system made me have the "ah ha" moment several months ago. I knew how to play the chord shapes, the arpeggios, and scales, but the way you explained made me understand the relationship. Also the relationship to everything else I've been playing for years. That's why it's important to explain the context fully. For me it boils down to the why, not the how. I will be doing some fishing from now on. Thanks!

    Thanks, Guthrie. These are the concepts that excite me about playing the blues... mixing the chord tones with the minor pentatonic brings it all to life and seems like somewhat of a requirement to making the changes. The moves I need to work on most are from the 4 to the 5 chord and from the 5 to the 1 chord. Need to learn more turnarounds as well. Lots to learn! Good thing it’s so much fun and it sounds so righteous when something clicks. Looking forward to all the upcoming lessons.

    Watching your old videos is a pleasure Guthrie. I’ll be honest I only discovered you a few weeks ago vi Brett Papa’s channel and mate your playing is beautiful, and wonderfully inspiring when applied with your framework. The arpeggios have transformed my noodling so dramatically my completely tone-deaf girlfriend commented on the licks… hoping some real fans might do the same sometime but for the moment you’ve made me very happy and given my playing more structure.
    My favourite player growing up was always Knopfler too, and I hear his sound so much when you’re given free reign to just play. But you’ve made everything I’ve heard you do sound entirely your own as well.
    Thanks for all your work bro. When I next get a bump in pay, I’m hitting you up for some lessons. Take care.

    “I put the maj3rd in there, I couldn’t help it.”
    That’s the quote of the day.
    Repetition and even saying the same thing in different ways is what hammers it all home. The people who think you are too wordy either already know this stuff or haven’t learned enough to understand what you are saying. Either move on or hang in there, respectively.
    “Content is king”

    • @lancecass8997
      @lancecass8997 5 лет назад +2

      Ive noticed, on multiple good lessons, there are people complaining about being wordy. It's because they're not here to learn, or they'd be asking for more explanation. They're just trying to hear some awesome shred or chuggs. Lol. Yeah, they're just trying to hear impressive playing, they're not even paying attention to what's being said, or they'd realize it's an instructional video. People are ignorant. They don't realize what golden info is here in this video. Cheers

    Another awesome lesson Guthrie. I thought I'd add one thing that has helped me a lot lately. I've been working on my phrasing and while playing lines, I say the interval as I play it. It has helped me become aware of where the key tones live on the fretboard and to focus on beginning and ending in places that make sense. Thanks for putting so much out there into the world!

    Love what you do over D around 17;40 and the smooth walk to the 3rd but damn that timeing to land on the 3rd of D at the change to the IV tricky but huge effect,, damn so much of this is STYLE CONTEXT, Which requires alot of listening, and then application, more listening but your right it does come together but your gonna end with some scars to prove it,,shhhit still love it though haha

    GT, scattered? What? GREAT lesson man! UR down days teaching make you real and committed to us. Tons of information in this video. It’s like putting a puzzle together for my old brain but it’s working. I love the explanations and foundations you talk about. I learned a bunch of likes with no content and only after really seeing CAGED & triads does any of this “start” to make sense. I’ll contact you for a lesson when I come in town on OCT(if your around). Look for a donation to buy lunch/dinner on UR PayPal acct.

      @@guthrietrappmusic, GT...do I use the same bookings@guthrietrapp.com to send you a few bucks through PayPal? Just want to be sure before I send $$. I will hit you up for a live lesson after I get back to Russia (9/9 - 10/5) and have a handle on my return schedule.
