    The start looks good, but you do all kinds of great power training but you don't use any of it once you get fully vertical. Carl Lewis would say that you can tell you're not getting enough drive in that position because your elbows don't come up enough in the back when you are sprinting upright..

    Hi
    Welcome to South Africa !
    At what age should you start strength training ?
    My Son turns 15 this year and really struggles with he's starts
    No power or explosion out the blocks !
    What could we do for that ?

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  Год назад +2

      Some (very few) have a natural explosiveness to exit the blocks at 15 years old.
      If one struggles with it, it will just take time.
      Don't rush lifting weights to build that explosiveness, but try to get stronger bit by bit while working on sprinting and technique out of the blocks.
      15 is a good age to start strength training, but focus on technique to prevent injuries first and foremost.

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  Год назад

      What's the flaw

    • @naaatre
      @naaatre Год назад

      @@hovejohaur arms should be at 90 degree angle to get the full swing. Right now your arms are too close to your body and youre not getting any significant movement if you would get your arms at the right angle and height, your leg technique will too improve because arms and legs work together and if one is done incorrectly then other suffers from it. An example would be if you dont pull your arms up then its harder to get your knee to the right height and fully extend your leg for it get as much speed as it can get. Hopefully this wasnt hard to read and was understandable because English is not my first language. This is also one of my biggest flaws when it comes to running so i get scolded a lot if i dont do it the right way 😅

    • @leon9144
      @leon9144 Год назад +1

      @@naaatre You shouldn't force any particular arm movement. The legs dictate how much power you generate and will naturally go through the most advantageous ranges of motions for your force output capabilities and the arms are mainly there for balance
