  • It's our final day here in Poland and so many of you said that you cannot leave Poland without heading towards Krakow to try some tasty Polish food.
    We woke up super early to catch the train from Warsaw to Poland (which takes around 3 hours to do). Upon arrival we started looking for a yummy breakfast snack and if you're in Krakow you need to try Obwarzanek krakowski which is the Krakow bagel.
    After exploring the largest old town market square in Europe we headed out to find some Polish street food a Zapiekanka which totally reminded Jess of her childhood.
    After all these savory snacks we wanted something sweet and you guys know we love trying donuts from around the world - so we had to have a pączek from Stara Pączkarnia.
    Before we catch our train back to Warsaw we needed a proper lunch so we went to Bar Targowy to have some Polish Dumplings.

      If you are interested in not so hyped areas you should definitely choose mountains on the south (but not during the highest season), lake region on the northern east, Bialowieza forest, castles as Ksiaz, Moszna.
      Also it is a must to see Gdańsk! It is called a Polish Copenhagen.

    • @whereismylife
      @whereismylife 4 года назад +54

      To expand upon this: "in English: potato & cheese pierogi or ruthenian pierogi; 'Russian' is incorrect!. The name does not indicate any Russian origin, since such food is unknown in Russia. Ruskie pierogi comes from the prewar Poland's region called Red Ruthenia (today it is within a territory of Ukraine)."
      Also, you'll never meet a people that despise the Germans and the Russians more. A faux-pas to say the least. Remember, in communist times, you would find the meat market counters baron. False puppet government installed. You would be beaten in primary school for speaking polish vs russian. They mowed down demonstrators with machine gun fire from tanks on many occasions. Additionally, VERY proud of the fact (see solidarity movement/museum in Gdansk) that they were the first to free themselves of this oppressive force, no thanks to the west giving a flying f*ck.

    If you come back to Kraków, you need to spend more than a day here, it's really not enough. A weekend works if you hurry, but three days is better for some relaxed walks around the different districts. There's a whole lot of interesting places off the beaten path which I rarely - if ever - see in these sorts of videos. A park in Podgórze, the parts of the Vistula that are further out from Wawel (both ways!), some less visited streets outside of the market square etc. A lot of that stuff is sometimes just a few hundred meters away from places people always end up with, so it's a shame to not go the extra mile and see something even more local and generally unknown to tourists :) But happy you enjoyed your time here nevertheless!

    9:56: "You can get some wine, inside a wine barrel." - "Piwo" means beer, so this is a barrel with beer. So excited you guys are going to be on Orient Express! :) That was one of the best trips I've ever had and can't wait to see what you are going to make out of it! :)

    Zapiekanki or zapiexy, as we call them, are legendary! The best night out food when you've got munchies in the middle of the night after one too many ;-). I must say combined with pączki and pierogi, you probably chose creme de la creme of the Polish classics. Glad you enjoyed it. Greetings from the north of Poland!

    The song you played at the end of this is so appropriate for your Polish travels. My Dad’s coworker is from Poland and during his visit home, he picked up little Polish treats to bring back to the US. Guess what they were called?? Tiki Taki! 😆
