Currently reading Rhythm of War and I completely agree with you. I really appreciated the emphasis on world building in this one. Each of the characters arcs felt like they were important to the overall plot (78% through it rn). I dont know the ending as of yet but i suspect this may be my 3rd favourite behind TWoK & WoR. I think Sanderson has an editing issue and i really hope its resolved in books 6-10 because we REALLY dont want a repeat WoT slog in the middle :(

Just found your channel! Rhythm of War is indeed great!
Brandon knew that these flashbacks wouldn’t be the best part of this book because he put so much of the Eshonai/Venli backstory in Words of Radiance. It made that book better by giving us the listener perspective earlier. He aimed for the best compromise here and I think it worked well enough. It’s clear though that the flashbacks only fill in a few gaps rather than tell a story we didn’t know.
Honestly, I can forgive this sequence because they led to Eshonai’s final chapter, which I never expected to get and it hit me right in the feels.
The present day storylines were great and very character-heavy. Lots of tension and developments.
Enjoy Wind and Truth! I finished it in 3 days.

Welcome to the right side of history. 1 and 4 are the best ones. (50% done with 5 so no judgement for that one yet)

So if Rhythm of War is fantasy Die Hard does that make RoW a Christmas novel?

I can't stand Sanderson's writing, the dialogue is so tedious. I don't know how you ppl do it especially knowing that there're authors like Hobb and Kay in the world 🙄❤️

Sanderson's books make for a good change of pace from heavier stories.

@@hannahbrennan2131 for lighter stories I go for Gaiman or Susana Clarke. But yeah I get it. ❤️

No need to yuck people’s yum, especially if it isn’t constructive criticism. I love Hobb but the exact same can be said of her pacing (which I love, some people don’t). Point is it all comes down to preference, kinda pathetic hating for the sake of hating.
E.g I can’t stand ACOTAR/romantacy - doesn’t mean I’m gonna click on a YT video about it and write a comment on how much I can’t stand it. I’m not even a Sanderson fan all that much (read like 2 of his books) but the amount of hate (just cause of his popularity) I see he’s been getting is such toxic loser behavior. You’re not “special” for hating something popular.
