Man, I live in South Mills... yesterday evening I was driving home, it's about 7:45 and I kid you not, there was a big ole bear right beside Newlands Pub.....man if he only new lol.
TheCATFISH1949 Hey catfish! Thanks for watching as always! Using them federal slugs! They like to use 20’s to keep from possibly shooting all the way through the bear and hitting a dog.
Being that the bear was so close to the road and the woods were so open where we killed the bear they were able to drive a 4 wheeler in close. Typically they use a small two stroke pulley system and a logging bell to get bears out. (See here between the 8:00 minute mark and 9:30 mark ruclips.net/video/ABsqN79w3Sg/видео.html). I agree it may help with the hide but I'm always surprised how little damage is done to the hide when dragging even big ones through the woods.
@@CarolinaALLOUT ok...my bear took one to the head...cost me a place in the b&c records but saved the dogs for sure...he was on the ground and wouldnt tree
I've hauled many hounds to the great dismal and it sure is thick down there, want to make another great video? Come to the mountain's of NC with your dog's and crew and hunt with us, just as thick, 10x as steep!
I and my brother hunt black bear on the east coast near Oriental, NC, and we're having trouble finding a processor for the bear we harvest. The one processor we use, Lilly's Taxidermy, for deer refuses to process bear, only skinning and quartering them. Is there a decent processor on the east coast to use? Any help would be appreciated.
If you’re on private land, the best way is baiting but you need to understand the rules as you have to use natural unprocessed foods and you can’t shoot a bear while consuming bait. So finding their paths to the bait and setting up on them is the only way that I know of. If on game lands, there is no baiting so it’s straight up woodsmanship. Lots of travel time and scouting. Can be a long endeavor. I personally have never done it but from all accounts that I hear it is difficult. That country is thick where they live.
Now that you mention it, AL legalized baiting last year and I did find some corn laced bear crap and a bear was actually seen by a hunter on the same plot this year. There’s just one problem with that: you can’t hunt bears in AL.
@@CarolinaALLOUT I've got a little over 800 acres my grandma left me when she passed. Come to blounts creek (by pcs phosphate). Shot a 608 pound sow the last day of the season. All we do is run dogs for bear 😄 wouldn't have it any other way
My uncle Jack laws him an Archie watskins hunted toward Bryson city an Cherokee NC Jack passed few years back they were both southern gospel singer they had hounds Archie still bears hunts
My vote would be for coon hounds. Today's breeding of blood hounds is more for tracking and their looks(long ears, droopy faces, etc.) than hunting. We personally don't know anyone who has blood hounds for hunting. Not saying there aren't any out there but hunters that I know of that have these hounds use them for finding shed antlers or downed deer. Hope that helps!
Y'all did this rite and that's for sure I was invited on a bear hunt there this bear season and there some sure nuff big bastards in them swamps and on the coast

Good to see Willie George! It's like seeing an old friend again....Best wishes to you brother!!🙂
Beautiful bears congrats
Temple boys are the real deal got some good hounds well kept hounds...
Oh man... I loved Gospel Bill when I was a kid! Great episode!
They're down in Plymouth and on the Southern shores of the Albemarle too.
Great video love watching hounds work bear like that. We aren't allowed to use that many hounds it would be nice to have a couple more sometimes
Those hounds look like Walkers. Absolutely beautiful.
I would like to see this on the outdoors channel instead of the reruns they show 20 times over
Agreed me and my wife were just talking about that

Mr. Chris, you ought to see the smile on my face. Nothing but live action. With a 20 gauge. what size load were you using

Question. Why not place the bear on a sled when dragging it out with the quad. Wouldn't that preserve the hide better?

Love the way you are represent North Carolina hunting!
Thank you Richard! Our state is pretty awesome!
Did you use buckshot or slugs for the bear....my one and only bear was 521 pounds here in virginia and i killed him with a 12 gauge slug with hounds
We used slugs. 20 gauge. After skinning him out all shots were up front in the boiler maker but he totes them like a champ.

Temple family? The same realtor family?
What did y’all use to cover the head with to get it out of the woods?
They call it a bell. It’s used in the logging industry for “snaking” logs out of the woods. I’m not sure who makes it.
And "downeast" is in carteret county at the end of hwy 70...I wish ppl would only call downeast were downeast is
I don't think you are gonna be able to confine a cardinal direction to the end of one road

I'm in New Bern. Hunt in blounts creek. Been processing them for years.
Is it possible to come down there and successfully hunt bears without dogs? I’m in the western part of the state.
It is. Has to be the right situation. It’s not easy.

Are they using shotguns? I just got a 336 in .35 Remington to potentially use if I can get on a bear hunt once I move to NC.
I also am needing a 10mm.
If you have corn fields near you walk around them to look for sign. I have had good luck hunting the woods around corn.

Slugs!
What type of shot did you use?
20 gauge slugs. Not sure what grain they were. Remingtons
That was an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME HUNT. Being originally from NC , I’d love to come home and get on a good Bear Hunt like that.
Great jobs guys good video and a dandy NC bear.
How do I get to hunt with me temple
First time watching you guys. Can people book hunts with you
We are helping the Temples a little with booking. Go to our website at carolinaallout.com and email us there and we can get some info for you.

Put the bear on a wood sled /plywood and pull him out ?
Why need to use the motor and pulley ?
Work smarter, not harder.
