Yes,and no.yes because it's what the fans have to do.and no because they where a great band.and I loved them.i love there music.its what I feel.thats all.!!🎤
Green Man everything the brothers worked for their entire lives down the drain. Yeah, I don’t blame Vinnie. The band was their life, to Phil it was just another band.
***** Like I said, IDRGAF. However, I'm sure this topic hits far closer to my home than it does yours. Worry about your own lawn and I'll worry about mine.
Anselmo is a racist douche-nozzle, who burned that bridge long ago. Only a fool would trust that idiot. And I call Bullshit. He can't possibly feel Vin's pain. Smh.
Listen to Cowboys From Hell all the way to Reinventing The Steel. You can see how Pantera & the fans got to Phil Anselmo, his ego got to big and destroyed his back then his band with Heroine. Pantera was to great for Phil Anselmo & that's why Phil wants to build that bridge again, so he can sit on a throne. That's how I see it, because his actions prove no different.
the devil cried Speak for yourself. And because someone else is racist, too, doesn't make it alright. I mean, shouting white power at shows & calling out black employees of the venue is classless. I'd trade this thug to get Dime back , ANY DAY!
As tragic as as their deaths were, in different ways of course, those two brothers lived the lives of 50 men. They were huge rock stars, man. On top of the world.
They're not blaming this douche for his murder, he wished bad shit on Dime when they broke up. He's an enormous douche. I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.
Phil killed Pantera when he abandoned them and took Rex with him. Phil didn't kill Dime tho or was reason for it. A mentally ill fan killed Dime thinking it was Phil by mistake. Gotta be mental to think Dime was the bad one.
watch the pantera's documentary and you will understand the logic... back in the day Phil said for a reporter (Vinnie had this recording) that he mentioned Dimebag as a guy who should be severely punished so... If you think for a second, a guy with a serious psychological issues and with a gun on his hand, that's a very dangerous combination right ? Still doesn't make sense ? Yeah, too bad because that's a very fucked up situation so anyone can have a different point of view.
A recovering addict reflecting on the past is one of the most painful things to do, I lived it. During Pantera’s final moments, I understand it was hard waiting on a heroin addict and letting go came with a lot of bad blood. Addicts lose their families (let alone bandmates) and its usually never a peaceful parting. The resentment Vince harbors towards Philip must’ve registered in small excruciating doses since Dime’s passing. I think he was worn down from the guilt that eventually caught up to him during the time which others close to Dime used to heal and move forward. I’m glad he’s taking responsibility, that’s a mature stage of recovery so he’s on a healthy path. He’s now present but its sad watching him reach out because I don’t think it’ll ever get resolved. I truly empathize with the kid. If I watched someone execute my brother in a cold-blooded frenzy, I’d be f*cked up to the point of no return. I think Vince has done well and keeping to himself is more than we can all ask for. I choose to let him be and wouldn’t criticize him because I don’t know his pain. All I’ll say is a psychotic degenerate killed Dime and nobody else is to blame.
@JoeSmith-dl9ok Everyone talks about Vinnie’s wishes not being respected, yet Vinnie didn’t respect his brothers wishes and that’s to get Pantera back together.
Vince blaming Phil for Dimes death was childish at best. Putting that kind of burden on Phil for the rest of his life was a shitty thing to do. It's a god damn shame.
Jim He was hurt & traumatized by witnessing his brother's death. I agree that he should've thought it through. I feel bad for Phil as people really hate on him. Too much over stupid things & stuff in hindsight you might regret you said.
Emma Bauer the whole damn thing sucks. I can't even begin to imagine what that was like for Vinnie. I can't imagine the burden of guilt Phil has to carry the rest of his life. It's so fucking sad. That band brought so much joy to our lives. I hope people can look at this situation and learn from it. I know I have.
Jim Yes, it does. Anselmo may have been a jerk, but we all say and do things we regret later. It's too bad Phil never got a chance to prove himself to Vinnie that he was sincere yet what can you do? He was obviously traumatized by what happened to his brother. Hope Phil doesn't get too depressed by people basically saying these awful things.
BAD PLACE? Ignoring his brothers and starting his own side projects?!?!?! Yea, I would've kicked him too. Phil was to blame for falling out... PERIOD!!!
I feel bad for Phil. His physical pain caused him to hook up with a terrible drug and it was too late when the band realized what was happening. all that he said and did was fueled but that drug and he later regretted and wanted it all to go back to how it was. I don't blame him for a damn thing and I know losing dime was hard on Vinnie but his ego got the best of him until the very end. I'm glad that in 2022 Phil was able to get a strong line up to tour with him in the name of Pantera. My heart really goes out to Phil. He has been waking up with this every day.
so what sources can you quote to get to this conclusions? MTV? Blabbermouth? Read Rex's book and you shall get some idea of what Phil actually is (was) like
Fernando Ramoa Being in Pantera was no bed of roses. Phil himself admits he was an angry and violent person. He admits that when he was on tour that he was a serious asshole strung out on drugs. Phil seems like he's overcome a lot of his demons, but he's still not the poster child for mental health. It is more likely that Vinnie is avoiding Phil just because of his resentments of the past. I was just saying that I could understand that someone who has experienced a lot of pain because of Phil might not be eager to hang around with Phil anymore. Sometimes enough is enough.
I would honestly say had things not snowballed the way they did, Pantera may still be around. Phil didn't answer any communications when Dime was alive. Phil was the one who caused Pantera's demise. I think the ultimate facts are that a true Pantera reunion was killed when Dime & Vinnie lost all confidence in Phil coming back and Phil's constant lies about taking a break from music. At that point, Pantera was never going to reunite. Hey Rex, Phil, I have an idea for you. Go get two other players like KISS (one of Dime's influences) did and call it Pantera. Then you can be happy with yourself.
Blaming Phil for Dime's death is lower than anything Phil could have done or said to Dime when he was still alive, and yet Phil seems willing to forgive and move on, while Vinnie Paul keeps hanging on to this misplaced anger. Maybe a reunion isn't the best idea but Vin needs to realize there's only one person to blame for his brother's death, and it ain't Phil.
Vinnie didnt truly blame Phil the media just pushed it for 14 years because it sells mags & gets clicks. Yes, in the immediate aftermath, he foolishly blamed Phil, so did RITA HANEY. Eventually cooler heads prevail. Vinnie not talking to Phil had more to do with PTSD than anything. He actually hinted at this over n over until he outright pleaded with the public and the media to shut the hell up already. They never did. Truth is VINCE barely talked to RITA at the end of his life. Do u think he hated her?? Heck no. *ANYTHING* Pantera related obviously triggers his PTSD on some level. This includes Phil, Rex, Rita etc. Christ the guy had to move out of Texas because altho people are kind hearted they are all too often straight up imbeciles.. Imagine having a wonderful day and someone walks up to you with a DEPRESSING LOOK on their face and says.... "I'm so sorry about your loss" over n over n over, year after year after year. Ya may as well say "Hey Vinnie it sucks your brother got his brains blown out right in front of you, destroying your band, your livelihood, your family and crushing all your hopes and dreams...... but anyway have a nice day." Then comes the next fan......."Hey Vince, I'm so sorry...." That will literally Physically kill someone, and it may have been a major contributing factor in what killed him. That level of stress is *horrible* for health. When the the next person walks up to Vince and it starts all over. Then he goes out on tour and interviewers say PHIL PHIL PHIL PANTERA PANTERA PANTERA. It never stopped. Rest In Peace Vince. Some of us get it. We all love you & we all miss you. Thank you so much for the 18 great albums of music over four decades and countless tours. You will be missed.
@@heavenshound6775 That wasn't the point of the comment. 8 albums of his i absolutely love. Of the remaining 10 half are pretty good and half are average/below average. It really all comes down to taste though.
Although i absolutely love and respect Vinnie (I once met him, briefly...), i just wish he could find it in his heart to reconcile with Phil. We all fuck up, simply cuz we're all human, and i'm sure Phil fucked up many times over the years, but i don't, for one second, think that Phil is to blame for Dime's death. C'mon, whilst you guys still got the air in your lungs, have a beer, shoot the breeze, remember the good times (and forget the bad!). You know that Dime would want it that way... Respect to all... \m/
It does NOT take pure blood to make family, is the relationship. I state that as if those where my words because i feel the same way. I have some assholes in my family and i have friends that i would die for.
Metal Hammer: Much has been made of the interview Phil did with Metal Hammer in 2004, just prior to Dimebag's tragic death, to the extent that you actually requested a tape of that interview to confirm its veracity, which we supplied. Since then, Phil has said a lot online and in the press about wanting to make amends. Has he ever tried to make contact with you? Vinnie: No, man. I don't want to talk to him. I don't believe anything he says. He's the master of lies. He says that shit because he wants the fans to believe what he has to say and follow what he does. And they're like sheep and they will. I don't want to elaborate on it any further apart from to say: listen to the Metal Hammer interview and you'll know exactly how he felt about my brother. He can say anything he wants, now on the backside.
Knowing now about the reunion or tribute or whatever you wanna call it, seeing Charlie behind phil during the interview seems like real life foreshadowing especially as they were talking about vinnie lol
I always wished to see them make amends and at least give us one more go around with zakk at the helm. RIP Vinnie you beautiful tom slaying, bass drum galoping bastard. Tell dime we said get cha pull!
All you people saying "Vinnie needs to let go of this" are forgetting that Phil Anselmo said "Dimebag Darrell deserves to be beaten severely" the same month he was killed. If somebody said that about your brother just before he was murdered, I'm sure you'd find it hard to welcome that guy back with open arms too.

I love them all. it is really a shame about how it all went down. I was only 11 when they broke up so never really got a chance to see pantera, but i saw damagrplan in 2004. Dime was a real legend and for some reason most of the good ones die young. I still find it so wired that he was killed on the same day as john Lennon and both killed by a crazy fan
Vinnie, I get it, but come on, he seriously needs to stop saying "oh it's Phil's fault" because it's really no one else's but the man who killed Dime's fault, they need to bury the hatchet, even if there isn't a reunion, just to see the feud over with would be great
I know lots of people would disagree with me about this but if Vinnie Paul ever forgives Phil they ought to have a Pantera reunion concert or record where they have other Guitarists who knew Dime play guitar on different Pantera songs. Guys like Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Scott Ian, Kerry King and other Metal Guitarists pay tribute to dime in different songs to the best of their ability. I know it wouldn't be the same because Dime was one in a million but that would be a great way to keep his spirit alive and remember him for who he really was.
I’ve been in a similar situation before where I was in Vinnies position. After awhile the grudge consumed me. To the point where I went to extra effort to make that we never saw or talked again. But it consumed me mentally and physically. Phil I can tell completely regrets what he said and I feel Darrell’s family should finally forgive philx
Dimebag's death was sad and shocking and everyone misses him, it would be great to see Vinnie Paul and Phil bury the hatchet, But Vinnie is not interested.
None of us know exactly what went down with these guys, you know Phil isn't telling everything that happened, and I'm sure there is plenty that he doesn't even remember even. Yes, everyone would love to see these two reconcile their differences and make the past the past. But look at this from the perspective of personalities, if you watch any interview with phil over the past 2 decades, he has an ego that would blanket the fucking moon. That being said, how many people in bands, on the street, friends, whatever, have said that Dime and co. are the nicest guys you could meet. You know there had to be some kind of bad shit going on if one of the most laid back drummers refuses to talk to a guy he know for a good chunk of his life. On top of that, maybe part of it is purely selfish, who wants to be reminded of their beloved brothers execution you witnessed on stage with your friends? A brother that just about everyone loved, who didn't love Dime? Besides that nutcase that ended his life. Phil wasn't the reason Dime was murdered, but maybe its the association with that Vinnie is having trouble with. Maybe every time he looks at Phil it all comes flooding back, who are we to push that kinda pain onto anyone? Let them stay at odds, I don't care, I loved Pantera, saw them 3 times, I woulda seen them 100 more given the chance, I loved Dime, I loved what he was, the kinda person he was, I wish I could have met him. So instead of bitching about how things don't change, why don't we all mind our own business, and fucking let it be.
Dentros21 it's so weird how people side with Phil many times when they have absolutely no clue what went on between the two. Word was Vinnie and Dime TRIED to get it going again and Phil refused to reconcile. He jacked off those two for 2 years and while "needing a break" he formed 2 bands while trying to "recover"....knowing Vinnie and Dimes personalities Phil Anselmo isn't telling us everything
Yea but everyone wanted Phil to clean up. How was he supposed to do that when the Abbotts were raging alcoholics?? So that goes both ways. Phil had been playing in side bands forever and I think Vinnie and Dime got a little jealous of his success in those bands, just my opinion there. So there was obviously some resentments between them. Anyways, the douchebag who killed Dime didn't do anyone any favors, he's a piece of shit. I'm in no position to tell anyone when to stop grieving etc... but Vinnie has clearly stated he isn't going to talk to Phil anytime soon
@@charlielongley9229 I'm not trying to be a jerk, but *YOU* have *NO CLUE.* You got literally everything wrong in your comment. Sounds to me like you saw VH1 BTM PANTERA and believed it was an accurate representation of what happened. It is *NOT.* Its not uncommon, many people mistakenly believe the VH1 non sense. Thats show cares about ratings, not *Documented facts.* Any questions, just ask
@@charlielongley9229 The people that side with Phil are the ones that know he was wounded and never really had hate in his heart for his brothers. They are the ones that can see past the surface to the true heart if the matter. Like Phil said, he knows he coulda done better and it was up to Vinnie Paul. He didn't commit any mortal sin against them. He was in a bad place. Pantera was too big for a guy with a heroin addiction/broken back when everyone expects the killer Phil on stage. He was going through it. Rex even said that when Vinnie had his mind set, there was no changing it. There's a fine line between love and hate and none of them hate each other. They were all wounded from the love and substance abuse they had and that made it what it was. To not have Phil's back is ignorant and that doesn't mean you didn't have the Abbott brothers back also. The real fans had all of their backs
Okay, seriously... Time to straighten things out. I'm probably going to get tons of hate for this but I have three things to say. 1.) Im on Vinnie's side but not to kiss his ass or anything. HERE'S WHY: 2.) Dime wasn't just a friend or just a blood-related brother. He was both. Now think about it in Vinnie's shoes. A couple of weeks/months before Dime's death, Phil was basically bringing down Dime. Now I'm not saying that this sparked the killer to hurt Dime or anything, but Phil didn't apologize or anything until after Dime's tragic passing. It's kind of like how if your best friend gets insulted or hurt by someone else, you don't like the person. You have to realize "Sorry" doesn't fix it because Dime has passed. Sorry has two totally different meanings between a playground fight and when the friend loses their life. Now keep in mind, I am NOT saying Phil killed Dime. Or that he helped in any way. Phil is totally innocent there. (But something to consider is that Phil saying that thing triggered "it was Dime's fault" in the Killer's mind, but we can never know) And 2.) Vinnie has stated why he refuses to commence with a Pantera reunion. Because there can be no one else to stand up on that stage under the name of "Pantera" and be a Guitarist besides the fallen God 'Dimebag Darrell'. And also, not to prejudge, but do not reply and say "Then call it a tribute to Pantera", well it wouldn't be really any different. Call your left shoe a right shoe, but it's still really a left shoe, isn't it? It isn't right to plea Vinnie about this. He was the closest person to Dime and lost his entire childhood not even 10 feet infront of him and couldn't do anything about it. So please, LEAVE the man alone. Let him do what makes him happy and cope best, it's simply selfish to ask for Pantera again for your own pleasure rather than think about what could really make Vinnie happy right now.
Yea, i agree. Maybe i'm wrong but Phil abandoned Pantera for Superjoint/Down, (one thing leads to another) the other guys had to move on and it ended how we know :'( And i think that no matter what Phil does/do in the future he'll never get that rock off his shoulders, that shadow will haunt him forever. Its so sad..... for him.
One thing that's a huge misconception. People think Nathan gale killed him because of panteras break up. This is not true! He thought the band members could read his mind and were stealing his songs. He was a huge schizophrenic.
Ishbu101 But as I said in the entire comment (I hope you read the whole thing :P Not to sound offensive), I'm not saying he triggered the killer at all. It's got to be like mainly sentimental kind of things to him, that are keeping him from Phil. If you haven't already, please read my entire comment. Not trying to sound rude or anything. And ***** You do realize it was actually Phil who came into the band last, right..? So if you got rid of Vinnie AND Dime, that is simply selfish...they're practically the two founding members, if i'm correct... It can't be Pantera without Vinnie, Dime, Rex, and Phil. They were the Pantera that got big. That everyone loved. You're asking for a Pantera reunion without half of the band members even being there out of selfishness and lack of energy to go to the iTunes library and listen to their live tracks :/. I don't want to sound rude but I just don't get how you think like that.
The main argument I have to that is that Metallica (To my knowledge) haven't been best friends (brothers) since they were born. When your brother is your best friend it has a totally different meaning than having a best friend or a brother, not to mention, it is kind of an opinion. Like Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica did choose to keep going, but I believe we should at least respect Vinnie Paul's decision if he doesn't want to or not. Everyone's different and handles things differently :P
No disrespect to you either, but I didn't jump around xD I stayed within the same point. But hey, everyone has their own opinions. I just don't think Vinnie Paul should get all of this, and that it should just be left alone.
HOW THE FUCK IS PHIL RESPONSIBLE??????? Absolutely ridiculous! The best tribute they could ever give Dime is a reunion! Phil is BRILLIANT and sincere. he deserves forgiveness and acceptance!
Whatever Phil supposedly did obviously did not kill Dime. Vinnie needs Phil and Rex to properly heal, like all of them should have done from the start. R.I.P. Dime, R.essururect I.into P.antera.
+Matt Sweatt We need the three of them on stage together again. If anything, just to let us know everything is okay. Fucking something. After almost 16 years, we need closure. At this point, I dont even care if they play anything. I just want to see the three of them together on stage again. Just...something.
ive been seeing alot of bashing on this thread , i don't think anyone has a place to judge, because at the end of the day its the music these guys make that matters most
There's a couple of things you can't deny about Zakk. One is that he doesn't do stuff just to suck up to people. The other is that he earned his respect by respecting other musicians. If Zakk is paying tribute, it's because he's paying tribute. It's not to please the fans, it's not to make any extra money, and it's not to bash Dimebag's legacy.
Vinnie had his reasons, but it’s pretty crushing that he died before he found forgiveness for Phil. I think what happened to Pantera has us all a bit bitter.
All of them had irresponsible childish attitudes at the time of Darrell's passing. It is irresponsible to just not sit the fuck down and talk all those long dragged issues. It is childish to get to a point in which someone has to DIE for everyone to wake up. It is childish from Phil to just say fuck it and walk away not giving a shit about his "brothers". It is childish for Vinnie to blame Phil excluding himself from any participation in the breakup of Pantera; yet, it is well known Phil is a far different mature person now. So much has happened in his life that l dont think you'll find a more grounded musician nowadays. Whereas Vinnie... all you gotta do is google what he's into and you shall find nothing but PARTY. Nonetheless, this could have happened to any of us. They have the same faults as sins as any of us. Far beyond forgiving this is actually a matter of Vince acknowledigng 1) Phil's innocense 2) He was just as responsible of Pantera's breaking up. Forgiving is a spiritual process and if Vinnie's just surrounded by fucking partying all day l dont think it's gonna come any time soon.
Whatever was the rift between them, only them cud have resolve their differences!!they are brothers!!! R.i.p abbot bros!!! Phil sings their songs til diz daze and was as alwaze a tribute!!

If Vin had allowed Dime to join Megadeth without him, Dime would still be alive. Vin was just as responsible as Phil, if we are looking on it with butterfly effect-googles... To those who say blood is thicker than water; Sure! But love is thicker than blood. Pantera were four brothers.
Patrick Nordsvahn I’m pretty sure Dave’s ego would’ve suicided Megadeth if Dime actually joined like he wanted to, he was too good for them. I love Megadeth, don’t get me wrong, but I just couldn’t see those two personalities working together. It’d be quite the clash with reality.
Well said. I don't know, nor does anyone else on this thread, what it is like and has been like for these two (three actually) guys except for they themselves. So name calling and taking sides is what's REALLY RIDICULOUS! That won't help to mend things. If it does anything, it will only keep them apart longer. What's important to all of us and mostly to them (whether they want to admit it or not), is them just getting together and being civil again. May be a long process. We got time.
I find it really hard to listen to this band anymore. Knowing both brothers died in such a sad way and the whole band ending in such a tragic way just makes listening to them now just feels depressing.
In Wikipedia Fact or Fiction Vinnie Paul made it explicitly clear he'd never speak to Phil again, I don't know much about Pantera other than the Cowboys From Hell album, what actually happened between them?
They just took a break and the media turned it into WW3. It was no different than a million other bands. Once Dime was murdered it cemented this permanent drama. Vince would of talked to Phil eventually, he just wanted the PATHETIC media & public to stop asking
Every single Pantera album when Phil Anselmo joined the group was fucking beast. I bought and still own every single Pantera album. No Metal music will EVER compare to the shit Pantera put out.
You know man. For festivals, touring, shows....behind the scenes I'm sure it was difficult for everyone to tiptoe around the axe that Vince was grinding all those years.
THIS INTERVIEW GIVES A FACT THAT PANTERA WILL NEVER BE PANTERA WITH OUT PHILS VOICE AS ITS TRADEMARK,THE BROTHERS TRIDE TO DIVE IN THEIR SEPARATE WAYS BUT LATELY,A FRIEND OF DIMES TOLD THE PRESS THAT HE WAS SUPPOSE TO GET PANTERA REUNITED A MONTH OR WEEKS B4 HIS TRAGIC DEATH,... A LOT OF THINGS TRANSPIRED BETWEEN THEM YET PHIL OFTEN TELLS HIS BROTHERS THAT THEY WERE HIS BROTHERS TIL THE END!!! THATS ALL ABOUT WHAT BROTHERHOOD WAS ALL ABOUT!!! I LOVE YOU PHILAND THE REST OF THE PANTERA BOYS!!! ROCK IN PARADISE DIME AND VIN!!!
+ANDYB1478 The story goes that Phil made a comment to a reporter for Metal Hammer magazine back in 2002/2003, saying in a "tongue-in-cheek" manner that "Dimebag deserves to be beaten severely." The reporter took that back to the editor & the quote was used in bold lettering on the front page. Dime took it to heart, as did Vinnie & that's where the rift between the two parties got very sour. Phil never got a chance to smooth it over because of his struggle with heroin addiction at the time & Dime was shot dead in December of 2004.
@@DanielFantini The interviee was released the week Darrelm was killed not two years earlier. Philip was responding to the dirt digging being done by the interviewer. Phil had just got off heroin and moved onto METHADONE. The brothers were ripping Phil about his heroin and he got pissed which is understandable, especially if he was making some progress. Things that are forgotten: FACT 1. the brothers were raging alcoholics FACT 2. Dime first met his killer months earlier when he destroyed equipment at a DAMAGEPLAN show which debunks a lot. FACT 3. PHIL immediately followed his comment with I "love those guys" (I have the interview) Also no one mentions what wouldve happened if Phil committed suicide the same week the Abbott Bros were calling his new band "Super Arm Dope RITUAL" which is a lovely thing to say to a struggling addict. It goes both ways. The only guy to take the high road was REX brown
Rock In Paradise Dime (12/08/2004) and now Vinnie Paul (6/22/2018) \m/ CFH \m/ .... Philip told me "how rough it has been losing Dime"...now Vince is gone...such heavy losses.
i dont really care about the renunion i just like to see the entire pantera crew that is still alive and the 3 remaining members sit down and be a family agian.......... not just for them and the fans but for dime and the others that were lost
Much respect to big Vin, and R.I.P. to both the brothers, but I cannot for the life of me understand why he would blame Phil for Dimes tragic murder. Phil had his issues but I mean, c'mon.
I met them at a fan-sign at Marley station mall with slayer a very looooooong time ago and they were all joking with me and my buds and very down to earth. They signed my baseball cap and in my excitement forgot it...well that night Rex was wearing it while playing at Michael's 8th ave and I was at the very front and during a dime solo he bent down and tossed me my hat back and I still have it to this day, I miss dime man and I miss Pantera....fuckin sucks!!
Everyone is responsible for their own actions.. While I understand Vinnie's reasons for feeling down about Phil.. I also know that holding onto negative things hurt the holder more than the one directed at. Hope those guys can sort it out over time.
I really hope one day vinnie will forgive all of this and just talk with phil. Got to see pantera with slayer, static-x and morbid angel in 2001 in here in dallas and their has'nt been a show to top it since.
Don't blame Vinnie Paul for not wanting to repair things. Your lead singer turns his back on you, refuses to return phone calls, doesn't show up at record company meetings to discuss the problem. leaves everyone in the dark, ...and now that Dimebag was murdered on stage Phil thinks things can now get repaired?? I see a lot of well meaning comments wanting Vinnie to let things go. People need to get it through their heads ...Vinnie really believes that Phil was the catalyst for why that murderer tried to kill all of them. People tend to forget that the shooter wanted to kill Vinnie Paul too. Now that Vinnie Paul is gone ....it's over. What we are witnessing is the natural fall out for living by "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law".
Emma - Forgiveness is not the issue here. You don't know if Vinnie Paul forgave Phil or not. The issue here is "TRUST". Even if Vinnie Paul agreed to get back with Phil ...do you really think it would be Pantera without Dimebag? Sometimes music fans need to grow up and deal with reality. Phil insulted his band members and a level that was reprehensible. Then ...once Dimebag was murdered that put the final nail in the coffin for Pantera. Pantera officially died the day Dimebag died.
Vinnie needs to understand that Phil is actually a good guy and has worked hard to stay away from addiction. Phil was a douche and he recognized that. He was changed the day Dime died and Vinnie will regret his resistance to forgive Phil if Phil was to pass before him. Pantera's music is all about overcoming struggle and strife... and being STRONGER THAN ALL! Vinnie be the strength you preached and forgive Phil!
they'd make a lot of money on a reunion but it would be extremely hard to find a replacement for dimebag not to be all cleche or anything but dimebag was one-in-a-million.
Yh totally, its understandable that it would be hard to forgive and forget Phils behaviour, as well as coping with the pain of losing a Brother. Though surely there must be a time when they can shake hands like men, forget the past and look to the future, Do It For Dime
You feel his pain, Phil?! You can NEVER know Vinnie's pain when it comes to losing his brother. You couldn't imagine the pain of watching your own brother get murdered right in front of you! If you are the least bit honest, give Vinnie his space. Losing a REAL brother is extremely hard. You people want Vinnie to just move on? How many of you watched a sibling die a violent senseless death? Vinnie will never be over that. Phil had a chance to get things right BEFORE Dimebag died and should have the ship has sailed and time to let go. I have band mates I refuse to talk to for causing bands to break up that I was in. Trust me, it takes awhile to be ready to shake hands with that person. Dimebag's death made that healing process longer for sure. Do I think Phil is 100% responsible for Darrell's death? No. I think Phil is responsible for Pantera's death.
All four guys are responsible for Pantera break up. Period. The problem is Phil looks the part of villian so everything the Abbotts say is swallowed whole by the public.. 95% of Phil haters have NO CLUE about *DOCUMENTED FACTS* in the *PUBLIC SPACE* about Pantera. Christ critical thinking is dead and gone. Even the drug abuse..... Phil is the devil Heroin guy while the ABBOTTs are NOT looked at like the "Raging Alcoholics" they were but rather "guys that like to have fun." Like perfect angels. It drives me crazy people swallow everything the Abbotts say whole (i love them too RIP) while dismissing or straight up being clueless about things Phil said and/or completely missing how the ABBOTS story changed over time. It really is embarrassing to be a Pantera fan nowadays
Too much time had been wasted on grudges. Now it's too late. R.I.P. Vinnie and Dime.
Yes,and no.yes because it's what the fans have to do.and no because they where a great band.and I loved them.i love there music.its what I feel.thats all.!!🎤
And Vinnie died still hating Phil. What a sad ending.
Ya man thats rough R.I.P Abbott brothers
phil and rex left the band. Ruined pantera
thats not what I heard when hell yeah was at rotr in Columbus Ohio that's all I'mma say...
Michael Brewer - aw now I want to know what you heard... :)
Green Man everything the brothers worked for their entire lives down the drain. Yeah, I don’t blame Vinnie. The band was their life, to Phil it was just another band.
No matter what the media has to say about Phil, the man is cool in my book
Vinnie's grudge is only hurting Vinnie.
***** More than you. And more than you think. IDRGAF though.
"Never ending pain, quickly ending life." Guess that line doesn't only go for love huh.
As tragic as as their deaths were, in different ways of course, those two brothers lived the lives of 50 men. They were huge rock stars, man. On top of the world.
How could anyone blame any murder on anyone who was not the murderer? I don't get people's logic sometimes...
They're not blaming this douche for his murder, he wished bad shit on Dime when they broke up. He's an enormous douche. I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.
Motorsaw Adams Dude go listen to Don Henley because your a fucking cupcake. Maybe a Jon Bovi album and grinder date will make you happy.
Michael Colby ask Charles Manson
This is so sad.i support the reunion. THIS music needs to be heard again.
It’s not a reunion. That’s not possible. It’s a handful of tribute shows. Vinnie was clear about a reunion idea after dime’s death and he said fuck no
@JoeSmith-dl9ok Everyone talks about Vinnie’s wishes not being respected, yet Vinnie didn’t respect his brothers wishes and that’s to get Pantera back together.
Vince blaming Phil for Dimes death was childish at best. Putting that kind of burden on Phil for the rest of his life was a shitty thing to do. It's a god damn shame.
You're damn right Jim.
Phil was in a bad place at the time, it wasn't his fucking fault Dime died. Every cut the man a fucking break.
yep
+Loki Laufeyson fuck P.A.
why is pantera soo badass but so sad
1:15 AMEN!!!#
BAD PLACE? Ignoring his brothers and starting his own side projects?!?!?! Yea, I would've kicked him too. Phil was to blame for falling out... PERIOD!!!
1:00 Charlie in the background and now he’ll be touring with Phil, Rex, and Zakk next year. Crazy haha
Really sad the change has now passed.
Rest Peacefully, Vinnie Paul. You're already missed sorely.
Its to late now R.I.P Vinnie Paul 😭😭😭😭
Rip Vinnie 💔
“A dead issue....Don’t wrestle with it....deaf ears are sleeping.”
so sad that those lyrics are now relevant to this situation..... :( R.I.P Vinnie.
It's wild seeing Charlie Benante right behind Phil seeing as he's the front runner for Drummer of the PanterA tribute tour.
Vinnie Paul let go of the past . A grudge is pure poison.
too true well said
Nigel Ward i hear yea... they shuld shake hands talk and patch stuff up
Nigel Ward very unhappy ppl hold grudges. Vinnie hasn't been happy since his brother died
wade hunt
Nigel Ward
I feel bad for Phil. His physical pain caused him to hook up with a terrible drug and it was too late when the band realized what was happening. all that he said and did was fueled but that drug and he later regretted and wanted it all to go back to how it was. I don't blame him for a damn thing and I know losing dime was hard on Vinnie but his ego got the best of him until the very end.
I'm glad that in 2022 Phil was able to get a strong line up to tour with him in the name of Pantera.
My heart really goes out to Phil. He has been waking up with this every day.
Phil Anselmo is a strong person. He has total love and respect for Pantera.
Such a pity he didn't show it at the time.
Sadly now that Vinnie is gone we'll never get to see any reconciliation😭
Im pretty sure we all say shit and wish we could take it back im still standing by phil
To hold a grudge is childish, but to avoid hanging with destructive people, well, that makes sense. Perhaps Vinnie still fears Phil's dangerous side.
ROMAIN BARBIER Shall we talk about your destructive side?
so what sources can you quote to get to this conclusions?
ROMAIN BARBIER Phil was a very destructive person dude...
love for this two men...and their families, we all miss Dime...peace
I saw the pain in Phil's eyes instantly..I know your pain..blaming eachother wont bring dimebag back..
N. S. Perfectly said and i totally agree.
Perfectly said. I'm with you on this one.
Ya may as well say "Hey Vinnie it sucks your brother got his brains blown out right in front of you, destroying your band, your livelihood, your family and crushing all your hopes and dreams...... but anyway have a nice day." Then comes the next fan......."Hey Vince, I'm so sorry...."
That will literally Physically kill someone, and it may have been a major contributing factor in what killed him.
@@integrity101 not all of those 18 albums were great man, talk about rose colored glasses
@@heavenshound6775
That wasn't the point of the comment.
Phil is such a nice guy. I got the honor of meeting him and he's a really laid back and chill person.
Everyone becomes nice after doing horrible things and regretting what they did
I feel so bad for Phil! IDK what the media is saying... i hope for his sake Vinnie reached out to him before his passing.
May he Rest In Peace
You can be mad that he said it but there is still no correlation between the two events.
Metal Hammer: Much has been made of the interview Phil did with Metal Hammer in 2004, just prior to Dimebag's tragic death, to the extent that you actually requested a tape of that interview to confirm its veracity, which we supplied. He also says Rex Brown's book is all lies. Apparently, every is a liar but him. Whatever.
Idiot
I love them all. it is really a shame about how it all went down. I was only 11 when they broke up so never really got a chance to see pantera, but i saw damagrplan in 2004. Dime was a real legend and for some reason most of the good ones die young. I still find it so wired that he was killed on the same day as john Lennon and both killed by a crazy fan
They straight up started a new band & decided/told him they weren't waiting for him anymore.. how is it Phil's fault?
Phil was hard to reach...how dose that make him responsible for dimesbags death?
Not to be that guy but papa in the back at 0:55
Life is very short, and there’s no time for fussing and fighting my friends
I’ve been in a similar situation before where I was in Vinnies position. After awhile the grudge consumed me. To the point where I went to extra effort to make that we never saw or talked again. But it consumed me mentally and physically. Phil I can tell completely regrets what he said and I feel Darrell’s family should finally forgive philx
At least rita haney did reconcile with anselmo and brown not too long after dime's thing
Dentros21 ---agree 100%

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but *YOU* have *NO CLUE.*
You got literally everything wrong in your comment. Sounds to me like you saw VH1 BTM PANTERA and believed it was an accurate representation of what happened. It is *NOT.*
Its not uncommon, many people mistakenly believe the VH1 non sense. Thats show cares about ratings, not *Documented facts.*
Any questions, just ask
Maybe i'm wrong but Phil abandoned Pantera for Superjoint/Down, (one thing leads to another) the other guys had to move on and it ended how we know :'(
And i think that no matter what Phil does/do in the future he'll never get that rock off his shoulders, that shadow will haunt him forever.
Didn't kill him... But indirectly caused his death
Jesus man watching this video now is heartbreaking
Vinnie was a man of his word. RIP brother.
either way its tragic.. we lost one of the most amazing guitar players of our time.. RIP
ive been seeing alot of bashing on this thread , i don't think anyone has a place to judge, because at the end of the day its the music these guys make that matters most
Phil actually looks clean and sober in this interview. I wish them all well.
01:00 на заднем плане Чарли. Они даже не подозревают, что через 10 лет, будут в одной группе. ❤
idk why I find it funny that Anthrax is just dawdling about in the background
Forget vinnie. There are other talented drummers out there. Would love to see something with phil, rex, zack and dave lombardo.
Whatever was the rift between them, only them cud have resolve their differences!!they are brothers!!!

It had nothing to do with Phil anyway, Blaming him is just childish

I’m pretty sure Dave’s ego would’ve suicided Megadeth if Dime actually joined like he wanted to, he was too good for them. I love Megadeth, don’t get me wrong, but I just couldn’t see those two personalities working together. It’d be quite the clash with reality.
Too late now :( RIP Vinnie Paul
0:25 Charlie Benante is standing next to Phil. At that time, they didn't think they would ever play in one band together XD
Dam.. Rest In Peace Vinnie Paul
You know man. For festivals, touring, shows....behind the scenes I'm sure it was difficult for everyone to tiptoe around the axe that Vince was grinding all those years.
So crazy wat happened to this legendary band
It isnt fair to blame Phil for a senseless murder , but I get it
Glad to hear another dude say what I'd been sayin for years....blood may be thicker thatn water, but water leaves less of a mess.
Can someone please fill me in on what happened prior to Dime's death? What comments did Phil make?
+ANDYB1478 The story goes that Phil made a comment to a reporter for Metal Hammer magazine back in 2002/2003, saying in a "tongue-in-cheek" manner that "Dimebag deserves to be beaten severely." The reporter took that back to the editor & the quote was used in bold lettering on the front page.
Dime took it to heart, as did Vinnie & that's where the rift between the two parties got very sour. Phil never got a chance to smooth it over because of his struggle with heroin addiction at the time & Dime was shot dead in December of 2004.
+The Violator okay but why did phil say that? I heard that he said that, but why?
@@DanielFantini
The interviee was released the week Darrelm was killed not two years earlier.
Philip was responding to the dirt digging being done by the interviewer. Phil had just got off heroin and moved onto METHADONE. The brothers were ripping Phil about his heroin and he got pissed which is understandable, especially if he was making some progress.
Things that are forgotten: FACT 1. the brothers were raging alcoholics
FACT 2. Dime first met his killer months earlier when he destroyed equipment at a DAMAGEPLAN show which debunks a lot.
FACT 3. PHIL immediately followed his comment with I "love those guys" (I have the interview)
Also no one mentions what wouldve happened if Phil committed suicide the same week the Abbott Bros were calling his new band "Super Arm Dope RITUAL" which is a lovely thing to say to a struggling addict.
Look how well this worked
When was this interview wit phil done?
Awesome story . They were THE BEST band in the world in their time.
whats the song playing in the background in the beginning? thanks
did phil's autobiography ever come out ?
Everyone is responsible for their own actions.. While I understand Vinnie's reasons for feeling down about Phil.. I also know that holding onto negative things hurt the holder more than the one directed at. Hope those guys can sort it out over time.
cant we all just get along and listen to pantera T.T
DId that autobiography ever happen?
what is the music from the start please
I really hope one day vinnie will forgive all of this and just talk with phil. Got to see pantera with slayer, static-x and morbid angel in 2001 in here in dallas and their has'nt been a show to top it since.
Phil was mad at Dime and Vinnie was mad at Phil. Now there gone and Phil is left with the guilt.
Imagine being in a band with 2 brothers like Michael Anthony.
Blue Brick Wall He wasn't allowed forgiveness? To Vinnie he wasn't, but it is clear with this interview he did try.
Pantera officially died the day Dimebag died.
and i think the media made things a hell of a lot worse...
Vinnie be the strength you preached and forgive Phil!
they'd make a lot of money on a reunion but it would be extremely hard to find a replacement for dimebag not to be all cleche or anything but dimebag was one-in-a-million.
yes he was unique to this world. A guitar God
Just wondering who you play for o guru
Then why did Phil play with Rex?
I wish that book would see the light of day eventually.
You are yelling at someone you don't personally know and who will never read this. You look slightly crazy.
Phil knows what loss feels like too
All four guys are responsible for Pantera break up.
Its to late to have a reunion while vinne died how sad it is #Musiclegend R.I.P Vinnie Paul
