      Even got a speeding ticket for doing 95 in a 35 zone. The cool part was after the cop got done screaming at me, it was the 1st time i ever had a cop yell "just where the fuck is the fire", i apologized and he took the reckless operation fine off the ticket so i only had 2 points on me instead of 6. Which would have skyrocketed my insurance.

      I loved them in their hayday, one of my fave bands back in the day. I had no idea until recently they were Aussies though. For some reason, they never turned out many great bands. Canada has a small population too, yet we've more than pulled out weight when it comes to superstar performers. I guess it's like they say w/ the Seattle grunge scene, not much else to do in miserable winters, and ours are way worse.

    • @craighawkins3137
      @craighawkins3137 4 года назад

      Sainte Jeanne d'Arc Australia doesn’t turn out great bands? Besides world famous groups such as The Bee Gees (yes they were born in England but came to Australia as children and started their career in Australia), The Easybeats, LRB, AC/DC, INXS, Crowded House, Air Supply, Savage Garden, the Divinyls, Men At Work and Silver Chair, there are countless Australian bands and artists who have had one or two major international hits but have also had long successful careers in Australia and countries outside of North America. If you aren’t aware of them, look up Under The Milky Way by the Church, Electric Blue by Icehouse, Know Your Product by The Saints, Live It up by Mental As Anything, Send Me An Angel by Real Life, Throw Your Arms Around Me by Hunters and Collectors (Eddie Vedder has covered it), Flame Trees by Cold Chisel, Hercules by Midnight Oil, Burn Your Name by Powderfinger, Walking On a Dream by Empire of the Sun, Woman by Wolfmother, Purple Sneakers by You Am I, Cosby Sweater by Hilltop Hoods or Are You Gonna Be my Girl by Jet. Those are songs that were either hits in Australia or overseas and give an idea of the different types of Aussie groups. There are far too many to name. The beauty of the 70s and 80s in Australia when I was younger and going to watch live music was that there was a vibrant pub scene from which most of the bands learned their craft, and for $5 we could go to see these bands in pubs in the suburbs one day, and then hear their records on radio or see them on television in the same week.

    It may be apocryphal, but many years ago I heard the story that Glenn Shorrock was driving to my hometown Geelong, from Melbourne to perform a gig and passed by the small town of Little River, population about 2k. And that's when they picked the name Little River Band. They were famous for their harmonies. Perhaps Australia's first success on the International stage.

    This is one of my all time favorite bands. They originally were an Australian band, but did a lot of their recording in LA. When the original members left, their bass guitarist, Wayne Nelson, from the U.S. has been leading LRB on tours around the country to this day. Unfortunately, the original members (shown in this video) lost their ownership rights when they left, so when they eventually got back together, they went by their last names when touring Australia.

    • @SuperEdge67
      @SuperEdge67 4 года назад +1

      Tom Hansen Yes it’s a disgrace. The American bassist wasn’t even an original member ......just got a good lawyer. It’s very sad for the original members, given that most bands seem to reform at some stage. They can’t call themselves LRB. The American basically has a cover band he calls the Little River Band. Without Glenn Shorrocks voice it ain’t LRB.

Then I forgot about it for many years and it started coming back to me just a few years ago and hit me like a ton of bricks, a lost childhood favorite and a bombshell of nostalgia. I went on to get know their whole catalog and become a superfan.
